Looks likeJoJo Levesque is serious about making a comeback — first the busty singer did a spread in GQ, and now here she is on the red carpet at theClive Davis 2016 Pre-Grammy Gala. Anyway, personally, I don’t get the appeal, but for some reason, she’s popular with the boys, so enjoy. And who knows, […]

| Emma Thompson suggests killing Academy members to solve #OscarsSoWhite | Added 8 years ago | Source: CeleBitchy |
|

|
|
|
Emma Thompson is a two-time Oscar winner, one for adapted screenplay, and one for Best Actress. She?s been invited to the Oscars many times as a nominee and a presenter, but she is not an apologist for the Academy at all. Emma attended the British Film Awards several days ago (with her daughter Gaia, seen in these photos) and she was asked about the ongoing discussion around #OscarsSoWhite and the changes the Academy has made around membership voting privileges. Emma?s answer was? unique! And please, don?t take everything she says literally.
Emma Thompson has offered a refreshingly blunt take on the matter of Hollywood acting so up-in-arms about an institution that, historically, has been pretty white the whole time. Asked about Hollywood?s public outcry, Thompson told a reporter at the British Film Awards, ?It?s hilarious.? Her reasoning: ?It?s no change there. It?s not as if [the Oscar nominations have] ever been awash with people of color.?
Cutting to the chase, she added, ?Let?s face it, the Oscar membership is mainly old, white men. That?s the fact of it. So, either you wait for them all to die,? said before jokingly offering up another option. ?Or kill them off slowly?I mean, I don?t know. There?s so many options, aren?t there??
On a more positive note, Thompson ended the interview by giving the Screen Actors Guild props for actually implementing useful ways of encouraging diversity. Now if only the Academy could encourage diversity and, on a much lesser note, figure out a way to require Thompson to appear at the Oscars, we?d be happy.
[From Vanity Fair]
You know what?s sort of funny/sad to me? That the conversation we?re having about the Academy is the same conversation we have in America about politics. Like, what do we do about the old, white racists? They skew everything in politics and in Hollywood. And in politics, the answer always boils down to: well, we just have to wait until all of those old racists die out. That seems to be the answer for the Academy too, although I do admire Cheryl Boone Isaacs for giving it the old college try.

| Ryan Reynolds finally got a hit franchise with the record-breaking 'Deadpool' | Added 8 years ago | Source: CeleBitchy |

Ryan Reynolds FINALLY got a hit franchise. He?s been trying for years. And it finally happened for him with Deadpool! Going into the weekend, box-office analysts were trying to hedge their bets and say that Deadpool would do well, of course, but that it would probably make something like $55-65 million in its opening. Nope. Deadpool broke a ton of records to open with $135 million (and that?s just domestic B.O.). It?s the biggest opening for an R-rated film, biggest opening for a February release and biggest opening for Ryan in a starring role.
The foul-mouthed, extremely R-rated Wade Wilson is our newest record-breaking box office hero. Deadpool bowed to an estimated $135 million this weekend, becoming the first R-rated movie ever to break $100 million in its opening weekend. Already making back its $58 million production budget, the Ryan Reynolds-starring superhero flick sped past all expectations and could earn as much as $150 million over the four-day holiday weekend. That?s more than double initial predictions of about $65 million.
Deadpool also earned the biggest February opening weekend ever and demolished the President?s Day record set by Fifty Shades of Grey, which debuted last year to $85.2 million over three days and $93 million over four.
Reynolds spent years trying to convince studios that an R-rated superhero movie would work, and if Deadpool?s success is any indication, we should be seeing more of them soon. With an A CinemaScore, Deadpool is now 20th Century Fox?s biggest opening ever, and it surpassed the openings of PG-13-rated superhero movies like Man of Steel ($116.6 millon), Captain America: The Winter Soldier ($95 million), and Guardians of the Galaxy ($94.3 million). A Deadpool sequel hasn?t officially been announced, but Fox and the screenwriters have all but confirmed that it?s going to happen.
[From EW]
While comic-book movies are not my jam, and I?m meh on Ryan as a person for the most part, I?m happy that this turned out to be so successful. He really did spend years trying to make this happen, and he spent a lot of time and energy to promote this on social media and beyond. I?m glad it worked out for him and that he?s finally got his franchise.
Meanwhile, in the ?sad clown noise? area of the box office, Zoolander 2 opened in fourth place behind Kung Fu Panda 3 and How To Be Single. Zoolander made $15.6 million over three days, which barely justifies the amount of money the studio spent on the promotional tour, you know? It didn?t help that once people actually watched the movie, they didn?t like it that much. The film got terrible reviews and it?s Certified Rotten on Rotten Tomatoes with 22%. Which made this little item in Page Six a little bit sad ? apparently, at the NYC premiere last week, Jennifer Aniston was grilling industry types about how the box office tracking was doing.

| Julianne Moore in white Armani at the BAFTAs: stunning or plain? | Added 8 years ago | Source: CeleBitchy |

Julianne Moore wasn’t nominated this year at the BAFTAs, but as you probably remember she won best actress last year, for Still Alice, for which she also took home the Oscar. (Sidenote: I can’t believe that was just last year.) I like that she’s still showing up this awards season and looking lovely, even if her fashion can be hit or miss.
Julianne wore this white Armani gown with black detailing including straps with look like they lead to long black pieces of fabric hanging down the back. Just going by our past coverage, we’ve seen Julianne in Armani a couple of times but Armani isn’t one of her go-to designers. This may be a controversial opinion, but I really like this dress. It’s classic with unexpected subtle details and her accessories are killer. Check out those emerald earrings and that incredible statement ring. My only complaint is that bright Pink shade of lipstick.
Isla Fisher was also in white, in this Stella McCartney gown which fits her like a glove but still looks cheap somehow. Maybe it’s the unfinished hem or the contrasting satin fabric and the drop of the bust area, but this dress looks like lingerie. That’s a shame because her styling is gorgeous. I keep seeing hair like this and wanting to get extensions because as natural as it looks you know that giant mane is not real.
And here’s Angela Bassett killing it in Pink custom Galia Lahav. I could have sworn she was in her late 40s (although she doesn’t look it) but she is 57 years old! The back of this dress was low cut and sexy. I’m also including a photo of the camel coat with sequin flowers she wore over it because it was perfect.

Are you missing the 90s? Well, if you are, let Justin Timberlake take you back to the days of grunge, baby doll dresses and hair scrunchies. Last week, a video of Justin and his backup singers performing Bell Biv Devoe’s hit Poison went viral. The video was shot back in 2013, during Justin’s 20/20 Experience tour. The video was posted on BBD’s Facebook page for #tbt and has been viewed over 17 million times already. Never trust a big butt and a smile, but trust that Justin knows how to put on a hell of a show.

| Pamela Anderson launches new makeup line: bomb or bombshell? | Added 8 years ago | Source: CeleBitchy |

|
In “things that might have been useful in the 90s” news, former Baywatch babe Pamela Anderson is launching a new makeup line. The line is the result of a collaboration between Pamela and her long-time makeup artist, Alexis Vogel, who created her sexy looks for her Playboy shoots. The collection comes in two palettes, Pamela Pink and Pamela Nude. The palettes contain everything you need to achieve a bombshell look like Pamela’s – from glossy lips to smokey eyes. Why makeup and why now, you may ask? Pamela told People magazine, ?When you put makeup on, you want to look sexy and have fun and [Alexis and I] had this kind of specific look that we used to do and so she convinced me to do this little kit with her.?
The makeup is 100% vegan and cruelty-free and 10% of the proceeds from the line go to the Pamela Anderson Foundation, which “supports organizations and individuals that stand on the front lines in the protection of human, animal, and environmental rights.” That covers a lot of bases, doesn’t it? Pamela said that the kits are ideal for makeup novices, stating, ?[Vogel] is really clear on these little cards on how to do the cat eye, your lips, and I think that?s another big thing when it comes to that look is really the pouty lips ? the stain, the lip liner, and then the lipstick, and then the lip gloss.?
If you’re curious to see what the 48-year-old actress looks like au naturel, you can check her starring in a short film, Connected, that made its online debut last week. In the 10 minute film, Pamela plays a fitness instructor facing a midlife crisis. I never thought of Pam as much of an actress but she’s not bad in this – and it’s nice to see her face out from under all of the makeup and weaves. And, if you check out Pamela’s Instagram, it looks like she’s working on another project from Connected director Luke Gilford where she’s giving off some film noir leading lady realness.
