The first Bridget Jones film, Bridget Jones?s Diary, is so good. It?s everything you want from a romantic comedy it?s genuinely funny, it?s comforting, it?s delightfully weird in some places, and it has an extremely likable heroine and a very good Mr. Darcy. The second film Bridget Jones: The Edge of Reason was not particularly good but still somewhat enjoyable, and they mostly kept to the source material (Helen Fielding?s second book). The wheels well and truly came off for the third film, Bridget Jones?s Baby, in which Bridget tried to choose between Patrick Dempsey and Colin Firth? all while she was close to 50 years old and pregnant. It was a complete mess and it should have killed the franchise. I thought it did! And then we started hearing rumors about a fourth Bridget Jones movie in the works. Well, it turns out that Renee Zellweger is still interested in milking this dead-and-buried franchise, because she?s officially signed on. It will be an adaptation of Fielding?s Mad About the Boy.
Rene Zellweger (Judy) has closed a deal to reprise the role that brought her her first Oscar nomination in Universal Pictures and Working Title?s Bridget Jones: Mad About the Boy, Deadline has learned.
Others set to return in the film, from director Michael Morris (To Leslie), include Hugh Grant (Wonka) and Emma Thompson (Good Luck to You, Leo Grande). Newcomers to the cast will include Chiwetel Ejiofor (Rob Peace) and Leo Woodall (The White Lotus).
Based on the third book in Fielding?s series, Mad About the Boy picks up with Bridget in her early fifties, as she navigates the challenges of modern life while juggling the responsibilities of motherhood. No word yet as to who Ejiofor and Woodall will be playing.
[From Deadline]
I?m sad to report that I have read Mad About the Boy and I think I know which characters Leo Woodall and Chiwetel Ejiofor are playing. While it will be cute to see Chiwetel as a traditional romantic lead, I wish it was not in a Bridget Jones movie! My God. Leo is definitely being cast as the much-younger man she dates for a few months, right?
Major Spoilers: if we?re going with the Bridget Jones Cinematic Universe, I would assume that Mark Darcy and Bridget get married after she gives birth to their son (at the end of Bridget Jones?s Baby) and then the fourth film will pick up using Mad About the Boy as the source material the book picks up about a year or two after Mark Darcy?s death. That?s why Colin Firth isn?t ?returning? to the franchise because Helen Fielding killed him off in the book, which is all about Bridget getting back into the dating scene (and as always, losing weight) as a widowed single mother.

| Renee Zellweger is wearing a 'fat suit' to play a convicted killer in a miniseries | Added 3 years ago | Source: CeleBitchy |

It?s one thing if an actor wants to go ?method? and authentically transform their body for a role. Think Tom Hanks in Philadelphia and Cast Away, Robert DeNiro in Raging Bull, Charlize Theron in Monster and Tully, etc. I understand that there are health issues with that kind of extreme weight gain or loss, but there is authenticity to their transformations which adds a lived-in quality to their performances. In recent years, actors have moved away from those kinds of transformations though, opting to just wear face prosthetics, fat suits, and more. Gary Oldman won an Oscar for playing a sh-tty, terrible version of Winston Churchill in a fat suit. Sarah Paulson is currently in American Crime Story: Impeachment, wearing a fat suit to play Linda Tripp. Jared Leto is wearing some kind of body-altering something in House of Gucci. And on and on.
It?s seriously gotten to the point where only young, thin, white actors are hired for every role and then they just use prosthetics and fat suits to get into character. This is because in Hollywood, apparently it would be the worst thing in the world to hire someone overweight, or hire someone in their 60s to play a character in their 60s, or to not constantly be surrounded by young, white and thin people at all times. I believe at some point, there will be more of a movement to call this out as the offensive ?fat drag? it is. Hopefully, there will also be a movement to simply cast movies and TV shows properly as well.
I bring all of this up because Renee Zellweger has been photographed in a fat suit, as she films a new project in Louisiana. The project: a miniseries called The Thing About Pam. It?s for network television, it will air on NBC. It?s based on the true story of convicted murderer Pam Hupp. Renee plays Hupp, a woman who is currently 63 years old. At the time of her conviction (the time in which Renee is playing), Hupp was about 57-58. Renee is 52. Hupp was also a bigger woman at the time, thus Renee?s fat suit.
Renee famously gained weight (about 20-30 pounds) to play Bridget Jones in the first two films and that still seems to hang over her head in a bizarre way. Renee has also said that her doctors told her she shouldn?t do that kind of weight gain again, so just don?t play overweight characters?? But that?s the catch, of course Renee wasn?t merely an actress for hire, badly miscast by some douchebag producer. No, of course not. She?s the executive producer on this series, so she cast her skinny self with the knowledge that she would do fat drag. Enough.
Renee Zellweger gets back into frumpy 'fat suit' and prosthetics as she continues work on new true crime series https://t.co/AYFynXCadF

| Renee Zellweger & Ant Anstead just clicked & they have so much in common (??) | Added 3 years ago | Source: CeleBitchy |

|
We recently heard the very weird news that Renee Zellweger has started dating Ant Anstead. British peeps told me that Ant is somewhat famous in the UK, but here in America, he?s known more as ?that guy who was married to Christina El Moussa for less than two years.? The ink was barely dry on Christina and Ant?s divorce when Ant and Renee began to see each other. It?s all very weird, and I still maintain that Renee has one of the most chaotic dating histories of any celebrity woman. Well, I guess Renee?s PR people want to ensure that this one works for a while, which is why we?re getting People Magazine ?exclusives? about how Renee and Ant just ?clicked.? Sure.
Rene Zellweger and Ant Anstead seem to be clicking as their summer romance blossoms. Zellweger, 52, and Anstead, 42, first met when working together earlier this month on the set of Ansteads upcoming Discovery+ series Celebrity IOU: Joyride. News of their romance came days after Anstead finalized his divorce from HGTV star Christina Haack, 37.
An entertainment source tells PEOPLE that despite being an unlikely duo, the two-time Academy Award winner and the Wheeler Dealers star are bonding over their common interests.
Sometimes two people just meet and click, and the timing is right, the source says in this weeks issue. Rene is creativeand often goes for guys who think out of the box. Shes smart, thoughtful and always looking to expand horizons and nurture those around her.
Both of them are private and dislike public scrutiny, so they have that in common. Hes a creative guy with lots of interests, and she likes to write and produce, so they have things to talk about when together, the insider adds.
Haack announced news of her split from Anstead in September 2020, writing, Ant and I have made the difficult decision to separate. We are grateful for each other and as always, our children will remain our priority. We appreciate your support and ask for privacy for us and our family as we navigate the future. They share son Hudson, 21 months, and have been granted joint legal and physical custody of him.
[From People]
Ant is very much a car guy he?s made a career out of being a car guy but he seems interested in other stuff as well. I remember seeing him on Christina?s HGTV show and thinking that he seemed very family-oriented and like he had tons of ideas about decorating, renovations, etc. I bet that?s something he and Renee talk about, because she flips homes. But beyond that? yeah. They?re an odd couple. Which is fine, just be an odd couple and embrace it. Don?t pretend that this dude you?ve been dating for a minute shares all of your interests.

Last September, Christina Anstead (as she was called then) announced rather suddenly that she and Ant Anstead were getting a divorce after less than two years of marriage. If you have a ????? thought bubble over your head right now, congrats on never watching HGTV. Christina Anstead used to be Christina El Moussa, married to Tarek El Moussa, and they were the Flip and Flop couple. They have two kids together, a thriving house-flipping business and a successful HGTV show. When they divorced, they figured out their stuff quickly and stayed in business together. Christina moved on with Ant Anstead, got married and had a baby, and they did a different HGTV show together, Christina on the Coast. No one knows what happened in the Anstead marriage, only that it ended swiftly and the divorce *just* came through. Enter? Renee Zellweger?? My God!
The inks barely dried on Christina Haacks divorce papers with ex-husband Ant Anstead and hes already moved on to a big-time Hollywood star Renee Zellweger!!! Sources with direct knowledge of the situation tell TMZ Ant and Renee met earlier this month when they filmed an episode of his new Discovery+ show Celebrity IOU Joyride.
Well, as luck would have it were told after Ant and Renee filmed their episode she actually returned to the set at some point to drop off some work boots for Ant. Its unclear when exactly they decided to go out, but our sources say theyre doing exactly that now.
The dating news comes just days after we first reported Christina and Ants divorce was finalized. Theyll share custody of their 1-year-old son, Hudson, and Ant has 2 kids from a previous relationship.
Celebrity IOU Joyride is a 6-episode series where Ant and co-host Cristy Lee help celebs give one of their loved ones a one-of-a-kind car transformation. Some of the other celebs include Mary J. Blige, Tony Hawk, Octavia Spencer, James Marsden and Danny Trejo. The series is a spinoff of Property Brothers twins Drew and Jonathan Scotts HGTV hit show Celebrity IOU.
[From TMZ]
Renee Zellweger remains the most random person and the most random dater ever in Hollywood. You could never predict who she?ll end up with. Who has this kind of dating history: Jack White, Kenny Chesney, Jim Carrey, Bradley Cooper, Doyle Bramhall II and now Ant Anstead?? It?s like she?s picking names out of a hat. Will Christina get her back up about this? Will there be sly references to Renee Zellweger on Flip or Flop? Stay tuned to HGTV to find out! (Honestly though, Renee has a history as an LA house-flipper too, and I could totally see her doing a house-flipping show at some point.)

| Renee Zellweger in black Gucci for a cancer research gala: stunning? | Added 4 years ago | Source: CeleBitchy |

Here are some photos from last night?s An Unforgettable Evening Benefit Gala for The Womens Cancer Research Fund in LA. Renee Zellweger was the big A-lister in attendance, but the gala was pretty well attended with celebrities of various profiles. I know Renee has lost some dear friends to cancer, and she?s always done a lot of charity work around this. I have to say, I absolutely love her Gucci gown. This is stunning, elegant and sexy. I?m not a lace person, but I wish more lace gowns were done like this. This Gucci look is so good, I kind of wish Renee had worn this to the Oscars. Quick, without looking it up, what did Renee wear to the Oscars? It was that boring as fk white Armani. I guess we?re still not supposed to talk about how ?different? she looks, huh.
More photos from the gala? Paris Hilton and Nicky Hilton Rothschild attended together. It?s crazy that after all these years, they?re still posing like this on red carpets!
The Jonas Brothers came out for a good cause! SO SHINY.
Rachel Zoe in a really good dress. I don?t have the ID for this, but I really love it. Simple and elegant.
Kyle Richards looks kind of terrible? That hairstyle is for poodles or Ariana Grande. She?s too filler?d or Botox?d.
Lisa Rinna and Harry Hamlin. Harry is ageing like a fine wine, I have to say. But this marriage is weird, right? That?s the gossip from RHOBH?

| Renee Zellweger v. Laura Dern: which Oscar-winner got the better Armani? | Added 4 years ago | Source: CeleBitchy |

All of my voodoo worked! I?m so happy that after My Nemesis, Laura Dern, swept all of the major awards this season, she now has to look at herself in photos forever where she?s wearing this dreadful boob-tasseled Armani gown. Laura Dern has access to the best designers and she seems ?well liked? by fashion people? and this was the best she could come up with? I love it. I love how bad it is. I was rooting for this and thank you to all of the people who were like ?hahaha, your nemesis?s dress is so bad!? This is why prayer circles and voodoo dolls work, people. Not only is the dress kind of terrible, but her styling sucked too that hair!! It was a 1950s helmet.
The other actress winner, Renee Zellweger, ended up in Armani too, which surprises me for many reasons. Usually, Best Supporting Actress and Best Actress are not wearing the same designer. And Renee, more so than Laura, has access to the best from all the major designers. And she went with Armani? and not Prada, Dior, Chanel, Carolina Herrera, etc. Now, that being said, My Nemesis was probably pissed off at how Renee got the ?good? Armani. Renee?s gown is FAR superior.
Also, even though I?ve been calling Laura my nemesis this whole awards season, it turned out that Renee annoyed me so much more than Dern last night. WTF was happening in Renee?s speech? Go back and rewatch this and how bonkers it is when she just goes off the rails in minute three of her rambling.

| Renee Zellweger in pink Prada at the BAFTAs: vintage prom style forever? | Added 4 years ago | Source: CeleBitchy |

Trendspotting: this awards season, a lot of women have been doing ?vintage prom looks? for awards shows, have you noticed that? Florence Pugh has led the ?80s prom revival looks, and Zoe Kravitz and Renee Zellweger have led the 1950s prom revival. By that I mean, taffeta, vintage-inspired cuts, stiff-looking satin and pale, delicate colors. Renee wore this Pink Prada gown to the BAFTAs. It totally looks vintage and late 1950s/early 1960s. It?s okay I like that Renee just got into the habit of choosing vintage and vintage-flavored looks twenty years ago and stuck with it. That style works on her body and she ends up looking somewhat timeless. Though the Botox and plastic surgery help with that too. Also: Renee picked up the Best Actress BAFTA. She?s a sure thing.
Here?s Zoe Kravitz in Saint Laurent. I actually thought this was Burberry when I first saw it, it has Burberry vibes, but I guess Saint Laurent went for glittering gold and conservative. It?s a great look on her. And yes, Zoe has been in England filming The Batman she?s Selina Kyle.
Zazie Beetz in Marina Moscone. I? don?t like this? I feel like it?s the wrong color, and I also think the fit is off and that?s why her body language seems a bit uncomfortable? Love that she matched her lipstick perfectly though!!

| Renee Zellweger in Maison Margiela at the SAGs: great dress & weird Southern accent? | Added 4 years ago | Source: CeleBitchy |

The theme of this post is Fake Southern. Starring Renee Zellweger and Reese Witherspoon. Renee Zellweger won the SAG Award for Best Actress for Judy, where her spectacular Judy Garland wig did all of the heavy lifting in that movie, my God. I don?t begrudge Renee these awards, exactly her performance was fine and I feel like she was definitely worthy of all of the nominations. But to see her march into the Oscars as the sure-thing is annoying me to no end. Also annoying? Renee?s continued poor ?performance? at awards show speeches. At the Golden Globes, she was so clearly drunk as hell. At the Critics Choice Awards, it was just? bad. Whatever it was. And last night, Renee?s speech was? like, crazy-Southern? She?s from Texas but she decided to put on this thick Alabama-style Southern accent.
Mess. As for fashion, Renee wore this Maison Margiela gown. Her style has actually been pretty good throughout the awards season, but she learned years ago to stick with the same three silhouettes and the same vintage-y look for awards shows. It?s fine.
Reese Witherspoon was born in Tennessee and she genuinely had a Southern accent at one point, then she lost it after living in LA for so long, then she ?rediscovered? it when she began building her Draper James brand. Her current vibe is fake-sugary performative Southern power-producer. And after Renee?s nonsense, I actually don?t mind it. Reese wore Celine and I dislike this dress. It?s just not my taste I find it dated and game-show-hostess-y. That being said, Reese?s body looks great and she seems healthy and NOT bonkers, so there.

| Renee Zellweger wears Emilia Wickstead, talks harassment & Harvey Weinstein | Added 5 years ago | Source: CeleBitchy |

Here are some photos of Renee Zellweger at the London premiere of Judy this week. She wore an Emilia Wickstead dress which had the same vibe as a lot of those Carolina Herrera dresses Renee used to wear. She definitely goes for the same kind of look, the same kind of cut. She looked beautiful at the premiere and I loved her rainbow umbrella! But yeah, she also looks different, although she will word-salad us to death if we say anything about how she looks tweaked.
I still can?t believe that Judy is getting such good reviews and that Renee is now considered a shoo-in for an Oscar nomination, if not the actual Best Actress Oscar. It feels like this could be another Rami Malek situation, where we?re just giving Oscars to randos in okay bio-pics of beloved musical figures. Judy has already opened (in a limited release) here in the US, and it?s already making good money per-theater. Obviously, people really want to see Renee as Judy Garland. And? that?s a choice, and not one I?m going to make.
Renee?s press for Judy has been all over the place too I tried reading her Guardian interview, but she once again did the word-salad sh-t about her face work and I?m just exhausted that we?re still framing it as ?how dare people notice how different I look!? I also think Renee needs some help with how she talks about Harvey Weinstein, the man who was her professional collaborator for years and helped make her into the actress she is today, and the man who used her name as he harassed and assaulted other women. From the Guardian interview:
Zellweger was also dragged into #MeToo. As part of the ongoing class-action lawsuit, actor Melissa Sagemiller claimed that Harvey Weinstein told her that Zellweger and Charlize Theron had given ?sexual favours? for roles. There was a robust response from the Zellweger camp: ?If Harvey said that, he?s full of sh-t.? (Though Zellweger says she didn?t personally put out a statement about it.)
Regarding what Weinstein is alleged to have said about her, Zellweger says: ?I did hear about that, yes.? Generally speaking, did Zellweger have any bad experiences in the industry? ?Never directly in that way. But, you know, there were certain behaviours that I would tolerate because I had a job to do, and I was more interested in getting through the day than in correcting someone, certainly. They weren?t offences of the variety that you?re referencing. But there were certain languages and liberties that certain people would take. But they would take them from anyone, in my estimation, not just me as a woman. But I?m sure there were countless instances that I was not aware of ? in terms of deals that were made and conversations that were had, that were derogatory, that I was not privy to. Sure. Of course. I?d be naive to think that I was immune.?
[From The Guardian]
So? she doesn?t want to talk about Weinstein, which is absolutely her right. In interviews, she either shuts down those questions curtly or she goes on and on about how she is sure that someone was sexist somewhere at some point but she was never aware of it. Which is also her right if she wants to deflect like that, it?s her call. But now I can?t help but wonder why she?s fking reticent to just say ?yes I was mistreated? or ?no I was never directed harassed? or ?Harvey is a fking pig and that?s all I want to say about it.? It actually feels like she?s trying to talk around the fact that she still feels some loyalty towards him.

Here are some photos of Renee Zellweger at the TIFF premiere of Judy, the movie about the last year of Judy Garland?s life. For the premiere, Renee wore this buttony Ulyana Sergeenko dress which? I mean, the Duchess of Cambridge would love this, right? It feels very Kate. It feels very Renee too. Not my vibe, but whatever.
Anyway, I?ve been waiting to see what the critical reaction to Judy would be, because I was judging it harshly from the photos and the first trailer. The photos of Renee in Judy-drag are horrendous, and the trailer seemed? awful, to me at least. But apparently critics at TIFF love the movie and they?re trying to make ?Renee has Oscar buzz for playing Judy Garland? into a thing. Really?? Really:
