Matthew McConaughey is a laid back guy who does his own thing. When I started this blog in 2006 we would get paparazzi photos of him barbecuing and drinking beers outside his airstream trailer, which was his only home. He was already a movie star at the point and he was living out of a trailer. He would regularly exercise outside barefoot, sometimes with his toothbrush sticking out the side of his mouth. Of course we?ve all heard about the naked bongo playing.
McConaughey has never been a ?party on yachts with supermodels? type of celebrity. He met Camila Alves when he was living in that trailer. She knew what she was getting into and she was cool with that. Of course he did buy a mansion (he lives next door to Pink!), married Camila in 2012, had three kids with her and the rest is history. We?ve never heard a peep about him being unfaithful or creepy. Not that he should get a cookie for being a decent guy, but that seems rare in his industry. At an event on Sunday (not the Oscars), McConaughey was asked what he?s grateful for. He said his kids and his wife, who lets him be himself. McConaughey was at an event held by the City Gala charity, where he was being given the 2018 Inspiration Honoree Award. He’s very active with his JK Living Foundation, which encourages high school students to live healthy lives:
Matthew McConaughey… took part in a Q&A with City Gala founder Ryan Long, and kicked off the conversation with his trademark phrase: ?Alright, alright, alright.?
When Long asked McConaughey what he?s most thankful for, the Texas native responded, ?My life, three healthy children,? before adding, ?[and] my wife Camila [Alves,] who doesn?t want to change me.?
The Oscar winner also added that one of his favorite quotes, ?just keep livin,? comes from spiritually wanting to keep his late father ? who passed away in 1992 while ?making love? to his mother ? alive…
When Us Weekly caught up with his brother, Mike ?Rooster? McConaughey, in January 2017, he opened up about the advice his younger sibling had given him about staying genuine in the industry as he took on a role in an A&E reality show called Rooster & Butch.
?I think some of the best advice was when [my business partner] Butch [Gilliam] and I agreed to get into this show business. He [Matthew] just said, ?Whatever you do, you guys just be you,?? he told Us. ?Just be you and it?s going to be great. Just be you no matter what.??

I haven?t covered McConaughey in a while and I always enjoy him. He has homespun wisdom and such a unique way of looking at the world. I love that advice he gave his brother about staying true to himself. This is food for thought for me, in that it?s relationship goals to find someone who lets you be yourself, and who appreciates your uniqueness. I bet he does the same for Camila. These two go to events and support each other, but they?re low key. I want to see them grow old together.
Also, I haven’t checked out Camila’s Instagram before and it’s a gem.

I knew Camila Alves is from Brazil, but she?s been living in America for work and for her family for more than a decade, so this news surprises me. Camila became an American citizen this week. Seriously, it took that long! She lived in common-law marriage with Matthew McConaughey for so many years, all of their children were born in America (and all the kids are American citizens), and it?s only now that she was granted citizenship.
Matthew tweeted the photo of their family celebrating in what looks like a courtroom. He posted this message: ?congratulations Camila on getting your U.S. citizenship today- another fellow and great American.? Camilla posted the same photo with the message: ?Happy to say I now hold an American passport! I have so much respect and appreciation for this country. #newuscitizen.?
It?s possible that Camila simply lost track of time and applied for citizenship later than I would have expected. It?s also possible that her citizenship process didn?t begin until 2012, which is when she and Matthew married. The citizenship track isn?t easy on anyone, but it?s slightly easier if you?re married to an American citizen. That might have been one of the reasons why Camila ?pressured? Matthew to marry her (those were his words, by the way).
My father became an American citizen after he married my mom and after I was born ? he sort of did it out of necessity though, for work, so he could get a security clearance. He loved his adopted country though and he always said he enjoyed studying for his citizenship test. Anyway, I?m covering this because I love naturalization stories!

This post is devoted to the big couples of the SAG Awards, better known as ?the men are famous and they didn?t pose separately from their wives, so we might as well talk about the wives too.? Let?s start with Matthew McConaughey & Camila Alves. Camila wore vintage Donna Karan atelier. I?m sorry, but this color looks like baby poop/vomit. SHINY baby vomit. It?s a pretty enough design ? imagine it in a rich blue, purple or silver. As for Matthew, he wore D&G, like usual (he?s the face of D&G). He was also on something, I think. His speech was crazy and it made me feel queasy and uncomfortable. Dear Academy: please don?t give him an Oscar. PLEASE.
Speaking of hot messes, Mariah Carey & Nick Cannon were in attendance because Mariah has a small part in The Butler. She was falling all over the place, trying to make everything about MARIAH and it was a mess. Her Saint Laurent dress is blah too.
Matt Damon & Luciana. I think Matt has Transitions lenses. RIGHT? Lucy wore Pamella Roland, it?s like a wrinkled wedding gown.
Forest Whitaker and his wife Keisha. She?s so elegant in this Georges Chakra couture.
Tom Hanks & Rita Wilson. I don?t like Rita?s dress at all.
Rupert Friend & Aimee Mullins. Rupert needs to stop with that hair.

These are some straggler photos from the Hollywood Film Awards, which Kaiser covered earlier. Julia Roberts was honored, as was Matthew McConaughey, who took home the Hollywood Actor Award for Hollywood Buyer’s Club, I believe. That movie comes out November 1.
Both Matthew and Camila look tired to me here, like they don’t want to be there or just got into a fight. Maybe the flashbulbs were too bright for them. Camila is in a black and white MaxMara dress that is very striking. I love the cut and color on this dress. Camila’s makeup is excellent but her hair looks a little fake and too-long to me. Maybe it’s the ombre, which makes it look like her extensions don’t match the color of the rest of her hair. Matthew may need to gain some weight to get back his hotness.
In contrast, Juliette Lewis looked absolutely thrilled to be there. She’s in a bold contemporary print strapless Monique Lhuillier. I love her casual loose braid and this dress is amazing.
Octavia Spencer was in black and blue Tadashi Shoji. I do not like the embroidery on this dress, but Octavia’s styling is great. Her hair is very cute with the loose curls.
Viola Davis was in light orange v-neck Escada with abstract black applique around the sides of the bodice. I’m not sure if I like this dress, but Viola is working it anyway.
Finally Jane Fonda rocked a very 80s Reem Acra pantsuit with a deep v-neck and bold buckle belt. Jane looks great.

Getting in some mommy-and-me bonding time, Camila Alves took her little one out on a shopping trip on Friday (July 5).
Beautiful in a white maxi dress and a cream-colored cardigan, the Brazilian model strolled along with baby Livingston as she made a stop for some toys at Lakeshore Learning Materials in Culver City.
Recently, Camilla?s husband Matthew McConaughey spoke with reporters on what he finds sexy about his wife.
He told E!, "There are all kinds of ways. There are ways she is sexy as a woman. There are ways she is sexy as a human. There are ways she is sexy as a mother. There are many angles. I will say that."

Five months after welcoming her second son to the world, Camila Alves is finally ready to show off her little one's precious mug for everyone to see.
On Saturday (May 25), the three-time Hollywood mama stepped out in New Orleans, Louisiana where she toted her son on her hip while giving the paps a quick smile along the way.
Proving to be just as good looking as the rest of his famous family, young Livingston looked effortlessly cool in a striped t-shirt and khaki shorts while sticking close to his mom.
This is the third child for Alves and hubby Matthew McConaughey who also have daughter, Vida, who was born in 2010 and oldest son, Levi, who was born in 2008.

She?s beautiful with a great sense of style, and on Saturday (May 18), Camila Alves played host to a fashion show at Macy?s in Las Vegas.
The 31-year-old model, who is the store?s INC Brand Ambassador, wore jeans and a shimmery navy-and-white top under a sheer length cardigan as she posed with attendees.
Last week, the Brazilian-American beauty shared the secret to her great marriage to actor Matthew McConaughey, whom she wed in 2012.
"The main thing to always remember -- and I think it's important -- you and your partner came first before the kids," she told US Weekly."So even if it's taking a night here or a day there or a weekend, it's just very important to do."
The lovebirds began dating in 2006 and have three children together: Livingston, Levi, and their latest addition, Vida, who was born in December.

The 31-year-old model sported a black top, matching pants, pointy heels, and a blue leather jacket as she headed inside.
Recently, the wife of Matthew McConaughey and mother-of-three spoke to OK! magazine about how she melted off the baby weight.
Explaining the process, Camila says, "It's amazing what eating the right things and drinking enough water can actually do to your body so that's what I'm trying to do now. I'm still in the recovery stages so I can't do exercise so hard right now. Just diet. I'm still working on it. I'm eating every few hours, just small portions or protein and lots of vegetables. I'm also train to learn the vitamins that you need daily.''

Matthew McConaughey lost 30 lbs for his role inThe Dallas Buyer’s Club.That’s just to let you know in case you thought he got AIDS. Which is not the case. He’s just playing a man with AIDS. It’s fake AIDS.
In any case, he hasn’t put back all the weight yet. He and Camila Alves were at the Independent Spirit Awards in Santa Monica posing for the cameras and he still looked like he needed a sandwich or two. This was probably one of the few times I sized Matt up and thought, “Yea, I could take him.”
