The youths have so many internet boyfriends and crushes, I can?t always keep up with them. For several years, Callum Turner has been in the mix. He?s 35 years old, which surprised me because I thought he was probably 27-28. His CV is full of supporting roles and the occasional lead, and I would certainly argue that his biggest claim to fame is not for his acting career, but rather his love life. He?s currently engaged to Dua Lipa, and he?s always heavily featured on her social media. To be fair, they seem very much in love and they also seem well-suited for each other. Well, here?s an interesting rumor going around: sources claim Callum is now the odds-on favorite to play James Bond.
The quest to find the next James Bond may be over. Sources have told The Mail on Sunday that Callum Turner ? the bookies odds-on favourite to take over from Daniel Craig ? has been telling friends the role is his. One source close to the Fantastic Beasts star said: Hes been blabbing all over town. Callum is the new Bond, its been confirmed. Everyone in his circle is talking about it. Its the worst-kept secret going.
If Turner, 35, does pick up 007s famous Walther PPK pistol, producers at Amazon may seal a two-for-one deal with Turners fiance, pop star Dua Lipa, to create a new song for the opening and closing credits. Lipa, 30, who previously wrote Swan Song for the 2019 sci-fi movie Alita: Battle Angel, is eager to join the Bond juggernaut, following the likes of Adele, Billie Eilish and Sam Smith. The source said: Dua is over the moon for Callum. Shes been saying shed love to record the Bond theme.
Turner, who was raised on a London council estate, started his career as a Next model before getting his big break playing Theseus Scamander in the Harry Potter spin-off prequel movie Fantastic Beasts: The Crimes of Grindelwald and its follow-up The Secrets of Dumbledore. He earned critical acclaim for his role in the 2023 film The Boys In The Boat, directed by George Clooney, and as Major John Bucky Egan in the Apple TV show Masters Of The Air, produced by Steven Spielberg and Tom Hanks.
He and Lipa started dating in January 2024 before getting engaged last summer. The couple have not announced a wedding date. They fuelled rumours that Turner could be taking on the mantle of Bond by going on holiday to Goldeneye in Jamaica, the former estate of Bond author Ian Fleming. A source said: If it is Callum then hed be a popular pick. He has the looks and sophistication for Bond and he has proved his acting chops.
The next 007 film, known only as Bond 26 as its the 26th in the franchise, is one of Hollywoods most hotly anticipated films, since it has been four years since No Time To Die. It could start filming this year for a 2027 release. Barbara Broccoli and Michael G. Wilson, who controlled the franchise through their Eon Productions, sold the Bond rights for a reported $1 billion to Amazon in February last year.
Amazon boss Jeff Bezos is a massive fan of the spy and a source within his company told the MoS: Jeff is closely involved in all aspects of taking Bond forward. He doesnt want to mess this up. He knows what an important place Bond holds in peoples hearts. Whoever is chosen to be Bond has to be perfect. The script has to be sensational. It has to have all the elements of Bond, like great action sequences and gorgeous Bond girls, while making it fresh and exciting for a new generation.
Bond 26 is being written by Peaky Blinders creator Steven Knight and will be overseen by Dune director Denis Villeneuve.
[From The Daily Mail]
?Hes been blabbing all over town? that would have been dealt with swiftly back in Barbara Broccoli?s day. She HATED whenever young actors spilled details about meetings or casting decisions. But this is a new era with Jeff Bezos in control of the franchise. Callum does hit that sweet spot of being the right age for it, having the physicality for it, not being too pretty, and being thoroughly British. I mean, look at him. That?s a very British face. Am I the only one who thinks he has a sort of Andy Murray vibe? I mean that as a compliment I find Andy Murray attractive, sexy even, but I fully admit that Andy has good angles and bad angles. Same with Callum.

Noah Baumbach?s Jay Kelly has been on Netflix for several weeks already, so I don?t know why George Clooney agreed to a Variety cover interview, which was published earlier this week. I guess some late promotion was in order because the movie perhaps wasn?t getting the response they wanted? Unfortunately, this piece came out after we learned that George, Amal and their twins have all become French citizens. Which makes George?s comments about the American media and Donald Trump comes across as out-of-touch. Perhaps George has always been a political dilettante, or maybe this is who has become in recent years someone who selectively has an axe to grind with Democratic elders but never Republican fascists. Some highlights from Variety:
No more on-screen romances: ?If you?re trying to hold on to being a romantic leading man at my age, it gets sad. I don?t want to be pathetic.?
Meeting Paul Newman in the 1990s: ?I pulled up and I go, ?Hey, Mr. Newman,?? Clooney recalls. ?And he clearly had no clue who I was. But he was friendly and we started talking. People would drive by going, ?George!? ?Hey, George!? ?Hey, man!? Bit by bit, he figured out that I was well known in some way. And as I started to leave, he goes, ?Don?t let them keep you inside.? What he was talking about was fame, and the tendency to surround yourself with managers and PR people who build these walls of security so that you don?t get caught doing something stupid. But what happens is you can divorce yourself from what?s really going on out there. You need people in your life that tell you the truth.?
What?s happened with CBS: When Clooney played Murrow last spring, CBS News was settling a frivolous lawsuit with Trump so that he?d approve the sale of its parent company, Paramount, to Skydance. That enraged Clooney, as did ABC News? similar settlement with the president over a defamation claim. ?If CBS and ABC had challenged those lawsuits and said, ?Go fk yourself,? we wouldn?t be where we are in the country. That?s simply the truth? Bari Weiss is dismantling CBS News as we speak. I?m worried about how we inform ourselves and how we?re going to discern reality without a functioning press.?
Quitting isn?t an option: ?It?s a very trying time. It can depress you or make you very angry. But you have to find the most positive way through it. You have to put your head down and keep moving forward because quitting isn?t an option.?
On Donald Trump: ?I knew him very well. He used to call me a lot, and he tried to help me get into a hospital once to see a back surgeon. I?d see him out at clubs and at restaurants. He?s a big goofball. Well, he was. That all changed.?
[From Variety]
?He?s a big goofball. Well, he was. That all changed? such mild, soft-focus criticism for his former friend, the demented madman dismantling American institutions and kidnapping people off the street. I guess that answers the question of ?where?s George Clooney?s NYT op-ed calling Trump old and sleepy?? Speaking of, Trump mocked Clooney?s French citizenship, and George responded:
George Clooney has lashed out at US president Donald Trump for criticising France?s decision to grant the Hollywood actor and his family French citizenship. Trump, whose administration has backed anti-immigration parties in Europe, wrote on Truth Social that France was welcome to the Ocean?s Eleven star, who is a long-term Democrat supporter, fundraiser and a vocal critic of the president.
?Good News! George and Amal Clooney, two of the worst political prognosticators of all time, have officially become citizens of France which is, sadly, in the midst of a major crime problem because of their absolutely horrendous handling of immigration,? Trump wrote.
?Clooney got more publicity for politics than he did for his very few, and totally mediocre, movies,? the president added. ?He wasn?t a movie star at all, he was just an average guy who complained, constantly, about common sense in politics.?
Referring to the US midterm elections on 3 November, Clooney told the Hollywood Reporter in response: ?I totally agree with the current president. We have to make America great again. We?ll start in November.?
[From The Guardian]
How witty, how debonair, to simply mimic Trump?s slogan and hope that people somehow understand the irony as you lounge about on your French estate! Cest la vie!

Well, this is the prologue I expected. Last year, George Clooney decided to write a New York Times op-ed in which he called for Joe Biden to drop out of his reelection bid because Biden is so old. Not only that, but Clooney advocated for an open convention and/or a three week ?primary? to decide Biden?s replacement, because clearly, no one wanted Kamala Harris to be the nominee, at least according to Clooney. Clooney has been sh-t listed by many Democrats since then, and he?s tried and failed to argue that no one will even remember his bullsh-t op-ed in the longterm. A few months ago, he was asked about everything that went down in 2024, and he once again used his platform to bitch about Kamala Harris. Well, long story short, George Clooney, his wife Amal and their two children are now French citizens.
George and Amal Clooney are starting the new year with a change. According to a naturalization decree obtained by French newspaper the Journal officiel and viewed by PEOPLE, the married couple and their 8-year-old twins, Alexander and Ella, have been granted French citizenship.
PEOPLE is out to Georges rep for comment.
In an October interview with Esquire, George, 64, discussed his life in Europe with his wife, whom he married in Venice, Italy, in 2014, and their two children.
?You know, we live on a farm in France. A good portion of my life growing up was on a farm, and as a kid, I hated the whole idea of it, explained George. But now, for them, it?s like?they?re not on their iPads, you know? They have dinner with grown-ups and have to take their dishes in. They have a much better life.
The actor admitted that he was worried about raising our kids in L.A., in the culture of Hollywood. I felt like they were never going to get a fair shake at life. France ? they kind of don?t give a s about fame. I don?t want them to be walking around worried about paparazzi. I don?t want them being compared to somebody else?s famous kids.?
In addition to his family home in France, George owns an estate in England, a villa on Lake Como in Italy, and another property near his family in Kentucky.
[From People]
As many of us said all along, Clooney was happy to participate in knifing Joe Biden and Kamala Harris in the back, then he got mad when people blamed him for his role in the collapse of America. We also said that George will be fine no matter what, and look at this he?s now moved full-time to France, with additional homes in England and Italy. He doesn?t have to live in Trump?s America, even though he did more to facilitate Trump?s reelection than most Republicans.

George Clooney has been making the festival rounds for his latest film for what feels like the longest two months of promotion that even wife Amal?s showgirl couture can?t save. The movie is Jay Kelly, helmed by Noah Baumbach from a script he cowrote with Emily Mortimer. I like Emily Mortimer a lot, but the film is giving budget It?s A Wonderful Life, and has been getting mid-to-scatching reviews. This was the part of the IMDb logline that had me rolling my eyes: ?Poignant and humor-filled, pitched at the intersection of regrets and glories.? Us writers can be really obnoxious with our writerly flourishes, so on behalf of the community I apologize for ?pitched at the intersection of regrets and glories.?
Thankfully the end is in sight, with the theatrical release date less than a month away on November 14. But before George can pack up and return to the farm in France where he and Amal are raising their twins ? that?s where George does the school run! ? he attended the LA premiere last week, where multiple outlets asked him to weigh in on the recent Louvre heist. You know, because George played a thief in Ocean?s Eleven. George?s take was as glib as we?ve come to expect from him:
The Louvre heist has prompted reactions of awe, disbelief, and outrage ? but George Clooney is one of the few onlookers who feel both pride and a tinge of jealousy.
The actor, who portrayed dapper casino thief Danny Ocean in Ocean?s Eleven and its sequels, reflected on the audacious burglary in which a group of thieves stole more than $100 million worth of historic jewels from Paris? foremost museum on Sunday.
?It was cool,? Clooney said of the Louvre theft during an interview with Variety on the Jay Kelly red carpet. ?I mean, it?s terrible. But if you?re a professional thief like I am, I was very proud of those guys.?
The Michael Clayton star added that he?s unsure if the culprits will evade authorities. ?I wonder if they?re going to catch these guys,? he said. ?They seem to have done a pretty good job at getting away with it.?
Clooney?s comments came as part of a broader conversation about another Ocean?s installment, which the actor has sporadically teased over the past few weeks. ?I think we should rob the Louvre,? he suggested for the long-awaited sequel?s plot. ?But somebody?s already done it, man, I dunno.?
It seems that Clooney would settle for just being retroactively inserted into existing footage of the thieves descending from the museum on an electric ladder. ?I think you gotta put me in, CGI me into that basket coming out of the Louvre,? Clooney told the Associated Press at the same event. ?I think you should do that.?
The Fantastic Mr. Fox star also expressed his admiration for the thieves? audacity during an interview with Entertainment Tonight at the same event. ?I was amazed that it was in the middle of broad daylight. Insane,? he said. ?But every place gets robbed, I guess.?
[From Entertainment Weekly]
I?m sure the French will be ever so thrilled to welcome George home on the heels of him making light of the theft of their $100 million crown jewels. The solidarit is moving. Look, I know more than a few of us have been swept up in the excitement of it all, given how brazen and swift the heist was. But there?s a noted difference between being captivated by a stunning event, versus downright rooting for the robbers. Plus, we?ve also been in equal measure, if not a touch more concerned about the fate of the jewels; lamenting the prospects of the pieces being broken down (i.e., destroyed) into unrecognizable parts, or being kept in pristine condition? but in a private oligarch?s collection never to be seen by the public again. I?m not getting a whiff of any of that kind of concern from George?s comments here. Rather, he?s centering himself based on a flimsy connection (that he once played a heister) and riffing on how the situation relates to him, without delving into any of the consequences. Hmm, why does this feel familiar?
Oh, and George need wonder no more about the thieves being caught: news broke on Sunday, one week after the crime was committed, that two suspects had been arrested. Though there?s been no word yet on if any of the jewels were recovered. Maybe they?ll turn up on a farm somewhere.

George Clooney arrived in Venice earlier this week, where he was set to promote and premiere his new film, Jay Kelly. On Thursday, George was supposed to do the press conference and some individual interviews, but he ended up pulling out of all of it because he was feeling under the weather. They?re saying it?s a sinus infection, but I kind of wonder if he was suffering from the Don?t-Ask-Me-Political-Questions virus. His ratfking with Jake Tapper blew up in his face, and while the international media might not care or ask, the American media might. Still, George ?rallied? in time to walk the red carpet with Amal. He apparently told reporters that he can?t hear anything (convenient) and he was seen clutching his sore throat at times.
Amal looked? okay. While I love this vivid violet shade, I?ve never been into Amal?s love of mullet dresses. The train was very dramatic though, and the whole ensemble photographed very well, even if it?s a dated, button-covered disaster once you look at the details. In George and Amal?s early years, I loved her hair, and she regularly got really great blowouts back in the day. But in recent years, she?s been having a lot of bad hair days. Her hair is too long and it looks damaged and in need of some good conditioning treatments. Her colorist is also doing a terrible job! Update: I just saw the ID for Amal?s dress, it?s a vintage Jean-Louis Scherrer by Erik Mortensen. I honestly thought it was a custom Giambattista Valli.
Meanwhile, I was fully prepared to hate on this movie because of George Clooney, little did I know that my nemesis Laura Dern is also in Jay Kelly! LMAO, I hope this sh-t bombs so hard. Her bangs are trash!! (Her Armani is okay-ish although it looks unfinished.)
Eve Hewson in Schiaparelli I kind of like this, and I usually roll my eyes at Schiaparelli.
Riley Keough in Chlo it looks like something she would wear.
And finally, Greta Gerwig (her husband/partner Noah Baumbach directed Jay Kelly). This is custom Rodarte. Not bad.

I have this weird thing where I always think the Venice Film Festival starts in early August, and I?m like ?why aren?t celebrities in Italy yet??? And then by the time Venice starts in late August, it catches me off guard. So, obviously, the Venice Film Festival started today. A bunch of American stars have films premiering in Italy this year. Including George Clooney, who arrived in Venice on Tuesday with his wife in tow. He?s going to premiere Jay Kelly, which is supposedly some Oscar-bait whatever. I doubt it will turn out to be a contender, mostly because I believe George is still getting a lot of well-deserved sh-t from his activities and statements last year. But hey, Amal looked nice in a butter yellow (which is straight out of the 80s, and yet it suits her) and Prada shoes. Update: This dress is a customized Balmain!
What else? Julia Roberts is in town for the premiere of Luca Guadagnino?s After the Hunt. Apparently, she had a cardigan sweater made with Guadagnino?s face printed all over. It?s sort of cute, but I wouldn?t have known that it was supposed to be Luca unless someone else pointed it out. I thought, ?Is that Curly from the Three Stooges??? I?m also including a photo of Cate Blanchett?s arrival she will premiere Jim Jarmusch?s Father Mother Sister Brother. She?s also there (I?m assuming) as part of her Armani Beauty contract, since Armani is one of the big sponsors of this festival.
Between Amal, Cate and Julia, I certainly hope we get some interesting fashion to talk about in the coming days.

In retrospect, it?s really funny how Amal Clooney completely avoided being photographed with her husband in the months where he had a terrible dye job. George Clooney dyed his hair black to play Edward R. Murrow in the stage adaptation of Good Night and Good Luck, and he spent months wandering around New York looking like Lurch. Amal avoided his Lurch Era, but she?s come back now that the show is over and his hair is almost back to its normal grey. These are photos of the Clooneys last night at the Tony Awards. He told People Mag that Amal was ?the happiest person? when he went back to grey. All of the dyed hair isn?t gone though, and now he really looks like he?s wearing a bad rug.
The Clooneys attended the Tony Awards because George was nominated for Best Actor and GNAGL was nominated in the Best Play category. Somewhat hilariously, the Tonys completely shut out GNAGL. Good. George has lost the plot, and during his turn on Broadway, he was an active participant in Jake Tapper?s anti-Biden bullsh-t. CNN was shilling hard for Clooney as well, airing GNAGL and pretending like it was some bold decision to do so. George deserves a lot worse than being shut out of the Tonys, but I?ll take this.
As for Amal, her dress is Tamara Ralph. Amal showcased the dress terribly, slouching over, shoulders slumped, twisting herself in knots to not tower over George. The dress itself is okayish, I guess the pearl detailing is lovely, but the look is very bridal. I feel like the length of the dress was a weird choice too.

Amal Clooney has been married to George Clooney, an American citizen, for eleven years. In all that time, she apparently never sought American citizenship. She has retained her British citizenship, and the Clooneys live in their homes around the world George?s bachelor pad in LA, a place in NYC (where they are now, as George works on Broadway), a country home in England, a home in Como, Italy. Oh, and they bought a home in France too. Well, there are reports circulating that Amal might soon be banned from entering the US or working at the United Nations.
Several top British lawyers, including Amal Clooney, have reportedly been warned about receiving sanctions from President Donald Trump that could affect their ability to enter the United States.
The Financial Times reported last week that the U.K. Foreign Office has cautioned several high-level barristers about the Trump administration leveling sanctions due to the legal advice they provided to the International Criminal Court in a war crimes case against Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu and former Israeli Defense Minister Yoav Gallant.
In February, Trump issued Executive Order 14203, Imposing Sanctions on the International Criminal Court, which named British lawyer and ICC prosecutor Karim Khan in its annex ? the first barrister to face U.S. sanctions for advising in this case.
If sanctions against more U.K. lawyers are, in fact, handed down, Amal, 47 ? who holds British citizenship ? might be prevented from entering the U.S., where she owns a property with husband George Clooney.
Born in Beirut, Lebanon, in 1978, Amal and her family emigrated to the United Kingdom two years later to escape the Lebanese Civil War. She was raised in Buckinghamshire before studying at Oxford and NYU. She is qualified to practice law in the United States ? after being admitted to the New York bar in 2002 ? as well as England and Wales.
She and Clooney married in September 2014, and share 7-year-old twins, Ella and Alexander. PEOPLE has reached out to the U.K. Foreign Office, as well as representatives for Amal and her legal chambers, for more information about possible sanctions. A rep for George declined to comment on the Financial Times report.
[From People]
Last year, there were reports that one of the big reasons why George Clooney did his ?civic duty? by writing that horrid NY Times column about Joe Biden was because Biden refused to take his calls regarding Amal?s work for the ICC. As in, the Biden administration criticized the ICC, specifically regarding the case Amal had advised on, and George got mad and tried to complain to President Biden. After that there was a series of unfortunate events leading to Donald Trump?s reelection, and Amal Clooney?s potential ban from the United States. But Biden?s age, amirite? Granted, the Clooneys will be fine no matter what. Their money insulates them and Amal will obviously still be able to enjoy the Clooney properties in England, France and Italy.

If George Clooney has anything, it?s the audacity. Last summer, Clooney authored a NY Times column (rumored to be ghostwritten) about how Joe Biden was too old to be president and there should be a mini-primary to select the next Democratic presidential nominee, because VP Kamala Harris was obviously not the next in line. Between Clooney?s column and Nancy Pelosi?s machinations, the entire election cycle changed in the course of a couple of weeks. I will never forget the way these people treated Pres. Biden OR Kamala Harris. Clooney is on my permanent sh-tlist. He stayed quiet for a few months, but he?s currently promoting the Broadway adaptation of Good Night and Good Luck. Clooney is taking over the Edward R. Murrow role (David Strathairn played Murrow in the film, which was directed by Clooney). To promote this mess, Clooney spoke to Maureen Dowd at the NYT. Some highlights:
Playing Murrow: ?I always felt like there was a sadness to Murrow, and that was not something that you could associate with me at 40 years old,? he said. Now he has to turn back the clock and cover his salt-and-pepper mane with black dye. ?My wife is going to hate it because nothing makes you look older than when an older guy dyes his hair. My kids are going to just laugh at me nonstop.?
The Trump era: ?You take a narrative, you make it up, don?t worry about facts, don?t worry about repercussions.? He said the play ?feels more like it?s about truth, not just the press. Facts matter. [But] No rules count anymore. It?s like letting an infant walk across the 405 freeway in the middle of the afternoon.?
Explaining the 2016 election: ?I believe that whole idea of the arc of history bending toward justice, and I know it doesn?t feel that way right now. I think there are always these pendulum swings. The first Trump election was, I believe, a result of eight years of a Black president.?
Explaining the 2024 election: ?The Biden administration was terrible at explaining that we?re a world economy, where we were actually doing better than all the other G7 countries. They were bad at telling the story because their messenger was not working at his best, to say the least.?
On Trump: ?He was a New York guy. He?d be at a restaurant and he?d be like, ?What?s the name of that cocktail waitress??? Trump even suggested a doctor who might help Clooney with an injury he had suffered on the set of ?Syriana,? the film that netted him a best supporting actor Oscar. He added, ?We?ve got to hope that he can have that Scrooge night where he wakes up and there are some ghosts of Christmas there that say, ?There?s some good things you can do for people.??
Another Biden story: Last June, Clooney and Obama appeared at a glittery L.A. fund-raiser that raised $28 million for President Joseph R. Biden Jr. When Biden appeared to freeze onstage, Obama led him away. Clooney was gobsmacked. ?I saw him for hours a year earlier at the Kennedy Center, and I saw someone much less sharp? that night, Clooney said. ?I?ve always liked Joe Biden, and I like him still.?
Writing the NYT op-ed: But after Biden?s debate meltdown, Clooney wrote a guest essay for The New York Times urging Biden to step aside. People thought Obama was behind it, but Clooney said he did it despite being urged not to. Many Democrats were grateful to Clooney, who said publicly what they were panicking about in private. Biden, then 81, had promised to be ?a bridge? but was stubbornly clinging to power. But Biden?s cordon sanitaire at the White House and some other Democrats were angry at the actor. The piece sparked a debate about whether celebrities should have such high-profile roles in a party that is already perceived as rich, coastal and out of touch. Biden abdicated his responsibility by hiding his incapacities, Clooney told me, and ?the media, in many ways, dropped the ball.?
[From The NY Times]
Several things I?d like to say, in no particular order. The anger I had (and still have) for Clooney is the way he and others were eager to pass over VP Harris in all of their nonsensical fantasies about replacing Biden. I continue to be outraged that there was all of this smoke for Biden?s advanced age and those people wouldn?t say one fking word about Trump?s very obvious mental and physical decline. I continue to be disgusted that people like Clooney weren?t taking the threat of another Trump term seriously they were like children fighting over a shiny toy, rather than adults justifiably terrified of how bad a second Trump term would be. They should have been locked in to do anything to ensure a Democratic victory, and they just werent. Clooney?s explanation that Biden was too old to explain why the American economy was doing well makes no sense either the media refused to give Biden credit where credit was due, with the NYT (Clooney?s outlet of choice) running daily stories minimizing the galloping success of the Biden economy. Anyway, long story short, Clooney can choke and I hope his play bombs.
