Though for some reason I didn?t think they had it in them, David and Victoria Beckham are planning on renewing their wedding vows on their tenth anniversary this summer. Their first go-round was quite the lavish affair ? they actually sat on golden thrones. But a decade together is a big milestone for any couple. And in celebrityland, it?s equivalent to about fifty years together.
David and Victoria Beckham are planning to renew their wedding vows.
The soccer player and the former Spice Girl have told friends they want to celebrate their 10th anniversary in July with a lavish commitment ceremony.
The couple might even reuse the golden thrones they sat on during their wedding in 1999.
A source told Britain’s Daily Express newspaper: “David has promised Victoria that they will renew their vows at the beginning of July, around their 10th wedding anniversary once his time with Milan is over.
“It will be a no-expense spared extravaganza, made all the more special after their enforced separation. David says it will be like another wedding and he’s even talking about using the thrones again.”
It’s not the first time David and Victoria have re-affirmed their love.
The couple renewed their commitment to each other in a surprise ceremony at their Hertfordshire mansion in May 2006.

The Beckhams have certainly weathered their share of marital storms, including a possible adultery scandal, or two. I never felt either allegation was an obvious ?of course he did? situation. And Posh and Becks are still together and seem to get each other. They both have a love of the high life. And they also seem to have a deep commitment to their kids.
Generally speaking, I think it?s sweet when a couple renews their vows. A lot people disagree and find it to be a tacky display of self-indulgence, and I can see why they?d feel that way. But in a world with a 50% divorce rate, I think there are worse things out there than reaffirming your love and commitment for one another.

Nicky Hilton is quite the badass. Not something I ever thought I?d say about a Hilton ? male or female ? but it appears to be true. Last night, for reasons completely unknown, Hilton was outside an IHOP. I?m guessing she probably just walks by there to mock the regular people who can?t afford to pour platinum syrup on their diamond-encrusted pancakes or something.
While outside the IHOP, a homeless man accosted her, and Nicky took him down. Actually, he pushed her over, and Nicky got right back up. And then placed him under a citizen?s arrest. See, totally badass.
Don’t mess with Nicky Hilton! After being pushed to the ground by a homeless person at a West Hollywood IHOP at 5 a.m. Saturday morning, the heiress made a citizen’s arrest, Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department spokesman Steve Whitmore confirms to Usmagazine.com.
“One of our deputies was at the IHOP, having a coffee break, and noticed a waitress run outside because there was a commotion,” Whitmore tells Us.
Another deputy was then called “because there was a misdemeanor battery that involved Nicky Hilton and a man named Michael Broadhurst,” adds the spokesman.
The 50-year-old homeless person “came up behind Ms. Hilton and pushed her. She’s OK, but she was desirous of prosecution. She said, ‘I am placing you under citizen’s arrest!’”
Whitmore says it was a dual effort by both Hilton and the two deputies to arrest Broadhurst, who will appear in court April 21. TMZ.com first broke the story. “It is my understanding that she is OK,” Whitmore tells Us. “A battery is just an unwanted touching.

Is it weird that I now have the hots for Nicky Hilton a little bit?
TMZ?s original story was a little scant on the details, and didn?t mention that there was a police officer inside the IHOP. I thought Nikki actually somehow detained the guy until cops showed up, which would have been impressive. I?m not sure that declaring, ‘I am placing you under citizen’s arrest!’” actually means much when cops are twenty yards away. But, I give her credit for having balls, nonetheless. She probably didn?t know a cop was inside the IHOP, or she would have just called for them. That was a gutsy move.
According to TMZ, the guy told cops he was Nicky’s boyfriend. That probably didn?t do much to dissuade Hilton from pressing charges.

The 50-year-old singer went public with the 22-year-old Brazilian for the first time, flaunting him at a pre-Academy Awards party. A source said: ?She was all over him at the Grey Goose pre-Oscars party in Los Angeles. She was kissing his face off. Then she decided to invite him to join her at the actual bash ? their first public outing together.? It was recently revealed that the popstar is desperate to prove she is committed to Jesus, following claims the ?Hung Up? singer is only romancing the model to make her estranged husband Guy Ritchie jealous.

I’m surprised that Madonna didn’t bring Jesus to the Vanity Fair party. All the stars want invites to that particular event, and bringing him as her date would have been a huge slap in the face to both Guy Ritchie as well as Alex Rodriguez. I’m curious to know why she wouldn’t take him to the post party if she was so public in her affection with him at the pre-parties.
It makes you wonder what she’s doing with him. At the very least, her relationship with Jesus is simply creating a lot of publicity. At the most, she’s quick to find a replacement for A-Rod and Guy Ritchie. A-Rod has reportedly found solace over the steroid scandal with his ex-wife instead of Madonna. And although he has also been photographed making out with young girls he picked up at clubs, he has been sporting a red bracelet, a sign of his conversion to Kabbalah.
I tend to think that she’s trying to make someone jealous, rather than her relationship with Jesus being all that serious. So - is it A-Rod or Guy Ritchie?

To top it off, when she hosted her own party later that evening the Material Girl put on an extra 300 carats or so… you know, because she can. Somehow, OK! got a list of all the jewels that Madge borrowed (or bought?):
Our guess is that Madonna thinks a recession is when you have to do your session again.
Because while the rest of America is cutting back, the superstar ? who was last troubled by money problems when Reagan was president ? piled on diamonds like sprinkles on a sundae for Oscar night.
Reminding us all why they call her the Material Girl, OK! has learned that she showed up to last night’s Vanity Fair post-Oscar bash wearing millions of dollars worth of Neil Lane jewelry, including:
? A black and white diamond chain with 500 carats of the shiny stones
? A diamond bangle with 25 carats of diamonds and platinum
? An onyx and diamond bracelet with 50 carats of diamonds
? A pair of diamond pear shape earrings of 20 carats each

Then for her own private party ? not wanting to skimp on diamonds ? Madge strapped herself into a cross and chain with 100 carats of diamonds, bracelets with 50 carats of diamonds, long diamond earrings worth 1 million dollars and a huge diamond and platinum ring.
Something tells us that her $76 million divorce settlement with Guy Ritchie hasn’t got her buying own-brands at the supermarket quite yet.

Even though I?m lacking in carats, I?m a huge fan of great jewelry if its worn well. But putting on that much jewelry just to party - because keep in mind, Madonna wasn?t invited to the ceremony - is overkill. Special, individual pieces get lost in the maze of bling. Too much is too much.
Neil Lane is one of the best jewelers to the stars. The jeweler collects older, antique and vintage pieces to loan out, but he also reworks some pieces and creates many from scratch. What in the world was he thinking giving that much to Madonna? Though to her credit, nothing complements the femininity of a diamond quite so well as bulging muscles.

But, was anyone reminded of Tarsem Singh’s The Cell last night when they saw Marisa Tomei in her crazy dress? Put two horns on her and Jennifer Lopez cowering in fear and you’d probably think you were back in that acid trip of a movie. Comparison video down below. Fast forward to somewhere in the middle. I guess her dress wasn’t as flowy, but whatever.

I can’t get past Anne Hathaway’s exaggerated features. If you drew a caricature of her, she’d just be two eyes, a nose and a gaping mouth on roller skates. Plus, she’s so white and reflective. Depending on the time of day, you’d probably get sunburned if you stood next to her. One time I tried to throw a snowball at her, but she harnessed the Sun’s rays and melted it before it even touched her.

Kate Winslet has finally won her Oscar! After six nominations (the most nominated actor at the age of 33), Winslet finally triumphed. I loved her speech, especially the part where she asked her dad to whistle in the auditorium. After she got off the stage, she talked to the waiting international press. It really seems like the British journalists were just waiting to rip into her, looking for any reason to criticize her, judging from the headlines in the British press this morning.
Winslet herself brought up how disappointed she was with the way the British press has handled her victories throughout the awards season. When asked if she was expecting the same negative reaction to her Oscar speech that she got from her emotional, Angelina-forgetting Golden Globes speeches, Winslet said, ?I really don’t care. I really don’t care. And, quite honestly, it makes me very sad that my own country can’t be pleased for the successes of their own kind in the way that America really seems to be able to be. Oscar winner Kate Winslet has accused the British of failing to support her awards success and said she wished her home country could be more like America.
Minutes after picking up the best actress Oscar for The Reader, Winslet said she was saddened by the negative British reaction to her gushing Golden Globes speech last month. Asked if the same people would dislike her Oscars speech, she replied: “I really don’t care. I really don’t care. And, quite honestly, it makes me very sad that my own country can’t be pleased for the successes of their own kind in the way that America really seems to be able to be. So I really don’t care.”
On stage at the Golden Globes, Winslet hyperventilated and repeatedly told herself to “gather” before forgetting the name of fellow nominee Angelina Jolie.
Backstage, she joked that she had perfected her “loser face” in case another actress won. “You have no idea how well I practised that face. It was a good face. I practised quite considerably, actually. Oh, yeah, you get good at practising that face,” she laughed.
The 33-year-old described herself as still “a little girl from Reading” and said she had chosen her evening gown, an assymetric, gun-metal grey design by Yves Saint Laurent, because she thought her mother would approve. “I just really liked it. I thought it was really elegant. And I thought my mum would think it was really pretty, and that’s why I wanted to wear it.”

Good for her! The British press was really harsh about those Golden Globes speeches, when she just sounded like any other excited, thrilled winner. It?s a common theme with certain British actors, saying that America appreciates them more than their own country. I?ve heard Hugh Grant and Anthony Hopkins say similar things.
Winslet also explained the whistle that her father, Roger, let out when she was on the stage. Winslet said, ?That’s the Rodge the Dodge whistle. Everybody in my family knows it, and he did it. I actually felt quite calm. I really didn’t think that I was going to win and I was amazed at how confident I felt. My dad did his famous whistle and somehow that made me feel much calmer.?
Later on in the press conference, Winslet said she was going to go to the Vanity Fair party and get hammered. I haven?t seen anything yet about her being falling-down drunk, but I really hope she got good and loaded - she deserves it!

While the public at large has turned its back on R&B singer Chris Brown, the one person who should be keeping the farthest away from him seems to be his only friend at the moment. Sources say that battered girlfriend Rihanna is in regular contact with Brown and wants to reconcile with him in spite of his violent treatment of her - and her family is beside themselves about it.
Rihanna is defying worried family and friends to talk to her remorseful lover Chris Brown and arrange super-secret meetings with him, The ENQUIRER has learned.
Shockingly, the talented pop singer has not only forgiven the R&B bad boy for punching her during a violent spat, sources say she’s already taken him back!
“Even after what Chris did to her, Rihanna is crazy about him and she’s forgiven him,” a source close to the leggy beauty told The ENQUIRER.
“They’ve been talking on the phone, and they’ve agreed that once the legal problems are ironed out, they’ll be together. But as far as Rihanna is concerned, she’s already taken Chris back.
“They’ve missed one secret get-together, and now they’ve vowed to meet at a secret rendezvous location outside of Los Angeles.”
An insider added: “Everyone is advising Rihanna to stay away from Chris and concentrate on her career. But she won’t listen. She’s been talking to Chris on the phone, and she’s made it clear she doesn’t want their romance to end.
“Both she and Chris are feeling extremely low. Each one feels the fight was their fault.”

As someone who used to work as an outreach counselor for battered women, there is nothing more frustrating and terrifying than a woman who refuses to leave her abuser. It’s also very common for the victims in these cases to blame themselves - but the reality is, there is no amount of “jealous behavior” that warrants this kind of violent treatment. Chris Brown is bigger and stronger than Rihanna and used this against her to bully her and control her. Period.
The belief that he is “remorseful” is also part of the abuse cycle. The ability to control his victim through acting remorseful is key for the batterer - he can turn it on and off at will. Rihanna is young and probably hasn’t had a lot of experience with relationships, so she hasn’t learned this yet. Her family is trying to spare her more pain and most likely, more violence. Hopefully she will realize this and stop all contact with Brown. But I fear she may learn this the hard way.

What would Jack Bauer say about this? “24? star Kiefer Sutherland’s battle with alcohol seems to be escalating again. Last year, Sutherland served time behind bars on a DUI charge, adding yet another chapter to his longtime struggle with sobriety. He kept a low profile for a while after his release, focusing mostly on shooting the new season of 24. But since his move to New York City in November of last year, the star has been spotted hitting the bottle pretty heavily in seedy bars all over NYC. Most recently, Sutherland was downing whiskey at a bar in Manhattan and getting into a shoving match.
After a night of heavy drinking and partying, Kiefer Sutherland got into a shoving match at a New York City nightspot - and then tripped twice on his way out of the bar, says an eyewitness.
The 42-year-old actor, who plays Jack Bauer on the hit FOX-TV show 24, appeared “wasted” when he arrived at the popular Manhattan bar Peter Dillon’s with friends on Feb. 12, the eyewitness told The ENQUIRER.
“He initially was soft-spoken, mellow and pleasant,” said the eyewitness. “He was ordering Maker’s Mark whiskey cocktails and was even posing for some pictures.”
But it wasn’t long before Kiefer, who has admitted to having a drinking problem, ran into trouble. According to the eyewitness, Kiefer exploded after another patron near the pool tables said something to the actor - and the two ended up in a pushing and shoving match.
“Pals had to hold Kiefer back from decking the guy,” continued the eyewitness. “After the incident, Kiefer appeared disheveled and drunk and had to be helped out.
“He tripped twice on his way out the door, but was apologizing for his actions.”

As much as I like Kiefer - I’m a huge fan of his show - he’s a bit too old to be dragging himself all over Manhattan acting like a frat boy. At a certain point, that behavior can’t be chalked up to “boys will be boys” anymore, and just appears rather pathetic. Sure, everyone’s entitled to blow off some steam and have a few drinks, but with Kiefer, it sure seems like he can’t stop at “a few” and always manages to get himself in trouble. I sure hope he wasn’t driving.

It’s clear that Britney Spears’ recovery over the last year is due in large part to her father, Jamie Spears. Since Jamie stepped in as conservator of Britney’s estate, the pop star has resumed her career and rebuilt a relationship with her two little boys. But some people have expressed concern that Jamie Spears is also responsible for pushing Britney back into the spotlight before she was ready - possibly because the entire Spears clan lives off of Britney’s income. Numerous sources close to Britney say that this comeback was rushed at the possible expense of her long term mental health because her finances were in bad shape - which could have spelled disaster for Brit’s entire family, including her parents, siblings and of course ex-husband Kevin Federline.
“The Spears family can’t afford to have Britney take any more time off,” a source tells Star. “They have all become completely accustomed to the high life, thanks to her, and they don’t want that to end.”
Even in 2007 - when Britney barely worked - the singer made a mere $737,000 a month, court documents revealed. But thanks to her hit CD Circus, personal appearance fees and the launch of yet another fragrance, Hidden Fantasy, she’s now making more than twice that amount.
And she will need the extra cash. Insiders estimate that in 2009 she’ll end up spending a phenomenal $7.4 million on her entourage alone - including family, psychiatrists, agents, bodyguards, stylists and touring performers!
“Britney spends the bulk of her earnings on her staff,” one industry insider reveals. “She refuses to be alone - ever.” Her $100,000 a year assistant Brett Miller is a constant companion - and sources reveal she has just rehired longtime aide Felicia Culotta.
Hanging with Brit has its perks. ” She treats them to manicures, pedicures, massages and clothes,” the insider adds.
…During her promotional tour for Circus, she traveled with her management team, her dad, Jamie, her brother Bryan, dancers, stylists and makeup artists- and they got first-class treatment everywhere.

The article goes on to say that Larry Rudolph, Britney’s manager, rakes in about $1.5 million a year from his famous client, while her bodyguards make about $150,000 a year each. K-Fed receives about $480,000 a year in child and spousal support from his famous ex - and now that he’s agreed to allow their sons to join Britney on tour, he’s getting an extra $5,000 a week. I’m not sure why. But as you can see, Britney Spears is a one-woman economic stimulus package - of course everyone wants to keep her working!

In October Celebitchy reported that Miley Cyrus was getting a whopping $4 million for her autobiography. I know, I?m still upset about it too. According to the Huffington Post, Cyrus? work has turned into more of a memoir (I had to Wikipedia the two to distinguish the exact difference, and it turns out it?s that a memoir is less structured? which makes sense, coming from a teenager).
The Associated Press got an advanced copy, and discovered Miley is pissed at the media for implying that there?s something creepy about her relationship with dad Billy Ray.
Miley Cyrus doesn’t like to admit it, but she’s bothered by people who think there’s something wrong with the bond between her and her dad, singer Billy Ray Cyrus.
“The media has said some stuff about my dad and me being too close and too cuddly for a father and a daughter,” the 16-year-old actress-singer writes in “Miles to Go,” a new memoir. “For me and my dad it’s not weird at all.”
Cyrus’ memoir, written with Hilary Liftin, will be published next month by Disney-Hyperion Books. The Associated Press purchased a copy put on sale early.
She doesn’t directly mention last year’s photo shoot for Vanity Fair, when she is shown reclining against her father, his arm around her shoulder, both of them somber and bare-armed _ an image many found suggestive. But she does write that she loves her father (who co-stars on her “Hannah Montana” show), isn’t afraid to show it, and “we don’t let other people tell us what expressions we’re supposed to have on our faces when we take a picture together!”
Acknowledging that fame inevitably attracts criticism, she writes of being hurt by comments posted about her on the Internet and concludes that some people are “so full of anger, hatred and bitterness.”

Just because someone points out that Miley has an unusually close relationship with her dad doesn?t mean they?re filled with ?of anger, hatred and bitterness.” I suppose it can depend on the context of what was said, and I?m sure it?s natural to get defensive over something like that. Miley and Billy Ray don?t have to alter their relationship to make it look like something more distant so that everyone else feels more comfortable with it. And similarly, the rest of the world doesn?t have to smile and zip their lips while acting like there?s nothing unusual about their father/daughter relationship.
Honestly I see that it provides fodder for jokes, but for the most part I think it?s nice that they?re so close. People can and will twist things, and that sucks for any 16-year-old. Most of us have to go through it on a high school level, but Miley has to deal with it in a much more public way. So it?s logical that her reaction is going to be a bit bigger too. I?m not sure that it?s appropriate to label everyone else some version of sad and pathetic, but it is understandable.

Kate Winslet has won the Oscar for her role as illiterate former Nazi guard Hanna Schmitz in The Reader. A campaign was launched against Winslet’s best actress nomination after the film was criticized for what some deemed a denial of the atrocities of the Holocaust. Harvey Weinstein and others involved in the film defended the content in a statement issued on Friday, saying in part that “these allegations are fueled by ignorance and a misunderstanding of the material, and are based on unsubstantiated arguments. The greatest films elicit great debate and conversation.”
Winslet was thought to be the front runner for the Academy Award this year because she has been nominated six times but hasn’t taken home a statue yet. In an interview with ABC News she was understated but clear about her desire to win, saying “It would be nice to know what it feels like in that situation to win sometime.” She also said that compared to previous years when she knew she wouldn’t take home a statue “this year… I can?t actually tell.”
Kate has her answer now and her long-anticipated Oscar. She also took home a SAG, Critics Choice Awards, Golden Globe and BAFTA for this role and now she can add “Academy Award Winning Actress” to her name.
The award was presented by former winners Shirley MacLaine, Marion Cotillard, Halle Berry, Sofia Loren, and Nicole Kidman. Each woman gave tribute to the actress and nominated role in a heartfelt and meaningful speech that seemed to touch both the actress mentioned and the audience.
In her acceptance speech Winslet was exhilarated but well spoken. She said that she made a version of the speech when she was “8 years old and staring into the bathroom mirror, and this would have been a shampoo bottle.” She thanked her parents and told her dad to whistle to let her know where he was. We immediately heard a loud whistle from the audience and saw a guy in a hat smiling. Winslet thanked her husband and said that it was a great film to to work on as “there was no division between the cast and crew of this film.” She also thanked now-departed producers Sydney Pollack and Anthony Minghella, looking up to signify that they were in Heaven. Winslet mentioned her fellow nominees and and said “I think we all can’t believe we’re in a category with Meryl Streep at all.”
Watching The Reader I felt like I understood Winslet’s character and I sympathized with her somewhat without excusing what she’d done. She gracefully stepped into the role, never overplaying her character and never making you second guess her performance even as Hannah reached old age. There were parts of the film I questioned as it felt too heavy and slow at times, but Winslet was impeccable. She usually is, and now she’s finally received her industry’s highest honor. Congratulations to Winslet.

With no major upsets expected this year, and no blockbusters nominated, the Oscars really had to shake things up to interest viewers and keep them watching for the full three plus hours of industry-focused awards. From most people’s estimation, Jackman’s first act succeeded. The Oscars definitely have a different feel this year.
The introductory song and dance number was incredible. Jackman performed quick musical tributes to all of the nominated pictures after joking that he wasn’t able to do an opening number due to the recession. A rudimentary set was then brought out to represent the Slumdog Millionaire game show set with pizza boxes.
Jackman’s next number was for Frost/Nixon. He dragged a faux surprised Anne Hathaway from the first row of audience. Anne can really sing as we’ve seen on SNL.
There was an hysterical skit with dancers in unitards for The Reader, with Jackman singing that he hadn’t seen it. He posed with his face behind figures of different ages for Benjamin Button, eliciting laughter from star Brad Pitt in the first row. Hugh was his hands on knees for Wrestler, ending up in a hastily-made ring with two cut-out Oscars.
He sang at the end “I am the Oscars, I am the Wrestler, I am the Reader, I’m Wolverine” and earned a standing ovation.
Hugh promised drunk, naked Oscars with some YouTube moments and he seems to have brought it. He still has to deliver on the naked part, although I’ll settle for shirtless.

It could have been the sexiest Oscar hand-off ever, but it didn?t happen. Unlike in previous years, where last year?s Best Supporting Actor hands off the Oscar to this year?s Best Supporting Actress, Javier Bardem wasn?t there to hand girlfriend Penelope Cruz her Oscar for Vicky Cristina Barcelona. My television could have been steaming, but instead, I was happily surprised to see five previous Best Supporting Actresses hand off the award - Eva Marie Saint, Whoopi Goldberg, Goldie Hawn, Anjelica Huston and last year?s winner, Tilda Swinton (wearing make-up!).
Penelope?s speech was lovely and bilingual. Her accent gets thicker when she?s caught off-guard, I think. I didn?t understand some of it. She thanked Woody Allen, her director, and made an interesting comment that ?he writes brilliant female characters.? I had never thought about it that way, but I guess he does. She thanked Harvey Weinstein and her family, and she also thanked Pedro Almodovar, the brilliant Spanish director who has made Penelope his muse in so many films. She had a speech prepared, but it still seemed spontaneous. At the end, she even gave a Spanish thank you to (I think, if my high school Spanish serves) all of her fellow Spanish actors.
Penelope was considered one of the favorites for this award - she played a crazy, bisexual, temperamental ex-wife (to smoldering Javier) in Woody Allen?s Vicky Cristina Barcelona in a hilarious, scenery-chewing way. Even though Kate Winslet took most of the major awards for Best Supporting Actress for The Reader, Penelope Cruz had a late surge in support, as evidenced by her win at the Independent Spirit Awards, where she gave a charming speech. I thought she would win the Oscar because: 1. The Academy loves Woody and 2. Penelope?s seen as one of those actors who is ?due?.
You know what else Penelope?s win means? The power of Xenu means something in Hollywood! That?s right - Tom Cruise unleashed the power of Xenu in full support of his ex-girlfriend several weeks ago. So, in a way, Penelope?s victory is Tom?s victory, right?
