Well well!! This news makes me very happy, actually. Natalie Portman has divorced Benjamin Millepied, eight months after his affair became public when a French tabloid published the photos of Benjamin with a 25-year-old named Camilla Etienne. The photos came out last July, but apparently the affair had been happening for a while and Natalie knew some of it ahead of time. Since then, Natalie has not worn her wedding ring to most of the events she?s attended, and there were rumors about an informal separation, but nothing was announced. It turns out, she filed for divorce and they got it finalized without anyone knowing before now:
Natalie Portman quietly filed for divorce from Benjamin Millepied, her director/choreographer husband of 11 years, eight months ago, and now the former couple is officially divorced, PEOPLE can exclusively confirm. The actress, 42, filed last July and the divorce was finalized last month in France, where Portman and Millepied, 46, live with their children, son Aleph, 12, and daughter Amalia, 7. A rep for Portman confirms the news to PEOPLE.
Navigating their under-the-radar separation, which followed media reports in May 2023 of an extramarital affair by Millepied, has not been easy for Portman.
It was initially really tough for her, but her friends rallied around her and helped get her through the worst of it, a friend of the couple tells PEOPLE. Natalie is coming out of a really tough and painful year but shes come out the other side of it stronger and is finding joy in her family, friends and work.
From the start, the couple has focused on helping their kids adjust, and have been photographed showing a united front as a family on numerous occasions over the last year.
Her biggest priority has been ensuring a smooth transition for her children, the insider says. She and Ben really love their kids and are equally focused on being the best co-parents they can be. Nothing is more important.
While there were clue things were amiss in the marriage ? Portman hasnt worn her wedding ring since last spring after news of Millepieds short-lived affair surfaced ? the pair were able to take time to privately work through issues and toward a new normal.

You guys, I totally forgot about Natalie Portman?s marriage drama. There?s just been so much marriage drama in the past four months!! Kevin Costner, Ariana Grande, Spongebob Sidepiece, Sofia Vergara, and on and on. I forgot (temporarily) that Natalie Portman?s husband Benjamin Millepied was outed as a big-time cheater. That happened in early June, when a French tabloid spilled all of the details about Millepied?s affair with 25-year-old Camille Etienne. The affair apparently lasted for months and Millepied was caught (by that French tabloid) in photos, going into some pied a terre for an assignation with Etienne.
Soon after the story broke (like, within hours), Natalie Portman went into damage-control mode and let it be known that the affair was over and she and Benjamin were working through it. Then Portman made a point of being photographed solo but wearing her wedding ring at a football game and a tennis match in Paris, and then the story just died for two months. Died? like Natalie and Benjamin?s marriage. According to Us Weekly, they?ve separated.

?After news of his affair came out, they?ve been trying to work on their marriage but are currently on the outs,? an insider exclusively tells Us of Portman, 42, and Millepied, 46.
The estranged couple ? who share son Aleph, 12, and daughter Amalia, 6 ? renewed speculation about their status on their 11th wedding anniversary on Friday, August 4, when Portman was spotted without her wedding ring during an Angel City FC event in Sydney, Australia.
In June, rumors swirled that Millepied was having an affair with Camille tienne, a 25-year-old climate activist. At the time, an insider told Us that Portman remained committed to her marriage despite the alleged infidelity.
?Natalie believes Benjamin?s affair was a brief and stupid liaison that means nothing to him,? the source exclusively told Us, adding that Portman was ?humiliated? by the rumors. According to the source, Portman was ?willing to see if she?s capable of rebuilding her trust? in Millepied to ensure that their kids don?t ?grow up in a broken home.?

First off, Benjamin is such a douche. As everyone is quick to point out, his romantic history is pretty rough he was living with girlfriend Isabella Boylston when he met and impregnated Natalie Portman, leaving Boylston in the lurch. Then fourteen years later, when he?s married and has two children with Portman, he?s slinking off and having affairs with 25-year-olds? Gross. Personally, I don?t find it weird that they?re separating or that Portman couldn?t get over his affair. The weird thing, to me, was that she tried to protect him initially and tried to save the marriage. Some things are unforgivable, some things you just can?t move past.

Here are some photos of Natalie Portman watching the Paris Saint-Germain football match in Paris on Saturday, about 28 hours after the story broke about Benjamin Millepied?s affair with a 25-year-old French activist named Camilla Etienne. The story broke in the French press first, then it was picked up by People Magazine and Page Six. Portman?s people even did some damage control with People, confirming that Millepied had a brief affair and that he and Natalie are working on their marriage together.
It?s really something to watch Portman navigate this scandal. The fact that she went solo to the Paris Saint Germain match is sending a signal, as is the fact that she made a point of looking good and pulled together, and she apparently made a point of greeting several people (like Novak Djokovic, who was also at the match). Shes not hiding and shes also not doing happy-family photo-ops with Benjamin. Natalie and Benjamin has reportedly been in France for weeks she went to Cannes to promote May-December, then she traveled to Paris, where she and Benjamin have been seen out multiple times together (including at Beyonce?s Paris concert). I wonder if Natalie knew the story was going to break when it did. I also wonder if she maybe had a hand in how the story broke? No, maybe that?s one conspiracy too far.
People are trying to do the math on the timeline though how long was Benjamin?s affair? Did Natalie and Benjamin have a low-key separation and when was the separation? When did Natalie find out about the affair? We?ll probably never know the answers to these questions unless she?s really done with him. And I don?t think she is. But I bet we do see more of these single-lady outings.

Legacy gossip fans remember all too well that Portman and Millepied actually started up while he was living with ballerina Isabella Boylston, and Boylston was quite upset with Millepied?s cheating ways. Portman, 41, was in the French Riviera city making the promotional rounds, but Millepied, 45, was nowhere to be seen.
A source close to the couple insisted they were still an item at the time. Meanwhile, Portman and Millepied were snapped right after the film fest at a Beyonc concert in Paris May 26. More photographs showed them kissing while having dinner May 29 in the French city. Then on Friday a new report in French magazine Voici alleged that Millepied has been spending time with tienne.
?In early March, the star of the ?Star Wars? saga discovered that her husband was having an affair with a young woman,? the magazine claimed. The mag has published images of Millepied and tienne going into his office separately on May 24 and exiting ten minutes apart almost two hours later.
Etienne, a pal of eco superstar Greta Thunberg, has made a number of short films on the environment and written the book ?For an Ecological Uprising: Overcoming Our Collective Powerlessness.? She was also reportedly named by French Vanity Fair as one of the ?50 French women who made 2020.?

When Voici broke the story complete with the photos mentioned by Page Six Portman?s people must have run straight to People Magazine, and they basically confirmed big chunks of Voici?s story and Page Six?s summary too. A ?source? told People that the affair between Etienne and Millepied ?was short-lived and it is over. A source also said that Benjamin and Natalie remain together and he?s begging for her forgiveness, basically: He knows he made an enormous mistake and he is doing all he can to get Natalie to forgive him and keep their family together. Natalie is incredibly private and has no intention of playing this out in the media. Her biggest priority is protecting her children and their privacy.
I?m sorry? Natalie ?has no intention of playing this out in the media?? Is that why her peeps ran to People so quickly? Don?t get me wrong, if a French tabloid had my cheating scum husband dead to rights, I would also do damage control (of some sort) to People Magazine. But just acknowledge that you are, in fact, playing it out in the media. As for the affair, the timeline and the fact that Natalie and Benjamin seem to be working through their drama? I?m curious about the reference to a separation last year. Did they separate and he was seeing other women, or was he screwing around and that?s why they separated?

Natalie Portman and Julianne Moore went to Cannes to premiere their new Todd Haynes film, May December. It?s apparently good? I love Todd Haynes anyway, so I?ll see it. For the big premiere, Portman wore this spectacular and iconic gown from Christian Dior. As in, the original ?Junon? gown was actually designed by Christian Dior. The real dress from 1949 is in Dior?s archives, so they made Portman a beautiful replica with very few edits. It?s gorgeous, and it?s perfect on her, honestly. She also wore a snazzy Dior mini at the photocall.
Jennifer Lawrence is also stuck with Dior, and I guess she still has a contract with them? In any case, she wore this red Dior which? is kind of boring and I wish she could get out of this Dior rut. Obviously, Dior is perfectly capable of doing amazing looks for some people, just not J-Law.
Alicia Vikander in Louis Vuitton, with her husband Michael Fassbender. She?s an LV ambassador and, much like J-Law?s Dior contract, I don?t think LV gives Alicia their best pieces. This is a snooze.
Gigi Hadid in Zac Posen. Some people love Posen?s designs, but I find them overwrought and overworked. This might have looked better in a different color?
Marion Cotillard in Chanel. LOL, this look went viral over the weekend because the people in charge of Chanel really put Marion out there in the South of France in Daisy Dukes and a cardi. Tragique!!

Eyebrow trends really mark an era. Recently weve seen the no eyebrow look come back and of course theres the skinny eyebrow look that I appreciate somewhat. Im a 90s girl and while I never want to go back to overplucked pencil thin brows, I like that brow trends arent as full and slug-like as they were just a few years ago. What is this new straight brow trend though? Apparently its shaving off the tail of your eyebrow and drawing in the end a little higher and shorter. Its said to lift your face and give a much different look. TikTokers are trying it with mixed results. (Theyre calling it Bella Hadid eyebrows but she has such thin brows I dont see it. I see it more on Natalie Portman.) Im going to quote Yahoos In the Know because they explain this well. Im also including several TikToks below that show women doing this to themselves.

Im not about to shave off the ends of my eyebrows to try this, but I penciled the ends higher and put a little concealer on the tails and they look good. My brows are light and they arent as well defined as most of these women on TikTok though. Ive watched countless videos and bought so many different products and they always end up just looking slightly better than natural. I think thats the real stickler getting your brows well defined regardless of the shape you choose. I asked a makeup expert, Ameerah Muhammad, for a quote on this trend. (You can see Ameerahs YouTube channel here.) She cautioned that its foolish to shave off your brows and wrote. I think its a retread of an old trend. Gen Z and the Tiktok beauty generation loves to think they have discovered something new. What we call matte skin- they call Cloud skin. What we call dewy they call skin flooding. Its all a bit silly IMO. Experimenting with brow trends can be fun, but I think Millennials and Gen Xers would caution Gen Z not to do anything with their brows that they cant regrow. Most of us are STILL dealing with the repercussions of over-plucking our brows. You can achieve the exact same lifted look with concealer and contour!

Here are some photos from last night?s ?gala screening? of Thor: Love and Thunder in London. What is the difference between a gala screening and a premiere? I do not know. Perhaps the difference is that Thor didn?t show up, and neither did the villain, played by Christian Bale. Chris Hemsworth and Bale were absent, but in their place, Taika Waititi walked the carpet with his girlfriend/fiance Rita Ora, plus his two leading ladies, Natalie Portman and Tessa Thompson.
Fashion notes: Natalie wore Dior, a flouncy red minidress which? don?t yell at me, but I think the look is way too ?young? for her? She?s 41 years old, she?s a mother of two, and she?s dressed like a 20-year-old Instagram influencer at the MTV Awards. Plus, the dress itself is really bad, like an ill-fitting, stiff tutu? ugh. Now, I love the flower headpiece. Gorgeous. Her makeup is on point too.
Rita wore an Elie Saab dress which is one of the cheapest looks I?ve seen from that designer. Tessa wore a gold Oscar de la Renta dress which? I don?t like that either? It doesn?t fit her properly, it?s way too tight in the bust and you can tell that she?s really uncomfortable. Poorly styled with the jewelry/choker too, although I love her braids.

Last night was the big world premiere for Thor: Love and Thunder in LA. All of the stars came out and it was a big Marvel outing. Natalie Portman is back in the MCU as Mighty Thor/Jane, and she?s been enjoying the early promotion. At the premiere (and at Jimmy Kimmel Live), she wore a really cute Celine dress which looks great on her. I have no notes on the fashion, but I do think her makeup artist did her dirty.

For the past week especially, the ?defund the police? argument has been moved from a fringe discussion to a mainstream discussion. I?m not saying ?fringe? in a negative way, and I know Defund The Police activists have been working on this issue for years if not decades. But it went from a pie-in-the-sky fringe movement to something a lot more mainstream over the past week, as we?ve seen police forces across the country riot, violently assault peaceful protesters and show us all why American policing is 100% broken. There are now significant questions about where to go from here: reform the police and save ?the good parts? of current police forces and take a scalpel to the bad parts? Or disband/defund the police, effectively burning down the current police infrastructure, and building something new from the ground up?
These are the questions facing cities, states and the federal government now. What?s remarkable is how quickly, again, this went mainstream. All it took was two weeks of videos of kids being tear-gassed, clergy being shoved by fascists and peaceful protesters being violently assaulted. Now it feels like the whole country is 100% done with this police bullst. Now Natalie Portman is putting her two cents in. For what it?s worth, I don?t hate that she?s using social media to work out her feelings on this. It?s a complicated, nuanced conversation and I find her words to be pretty thoughtful:
When I first heard #defundthepolice, I have to admit my first reaction was fear. My whole life, police have made me feel safe. But that?s exactly the center of my white privilege: the police make me as a white woman feel safe, while my black friends, family and neighbors feel the opposite: police make them feel terror. And for good reason. Police are the 6th leading cause of death for black men in this country. These are not isolated incidents. They are patterns and part of the system of over-policing of black Americans.
Reforms have not worked. Minneapolis, where George Floyd was murdered, is one of the most progressive police forces in the country, having undergone extensive anti-bias training.
I am grateful to the leaders in the @mvmnt4blklives who have made us question the status quo. And who have made us imagine, what a world could be like in which we invested in nourishing people; (in their education, healthcare, environment, shelter)? rather than putting all of our money into punishment. I?ve gotten to the age in my life, where if my gut feels uncomfortable, I take the situation as wrong. But this concept initially made me uncomfortable because I was wrong. Because the system that makes me feel comfortable is wrong. #defendblacklives #defundthepolice

I?ll admit that I, like Natalie, went from thinking ?defund the police? was something that could never happen, even if it *should* happen. But as the movement continues? I absolutely think that there are many police forces around this country which should absolutely be defunded and disbanded. I don?t think we could get *all* police forces defunded. But we could try?
Some of y?all really think defunding the police is radical and crazy but they defund schools every year. Chicago shut down 50 schools in black and brown communities at once saying they don?t have the money. That same year, the police budget increased.

Natalie Portman has been on a tear in recent years when it comes to recognizing the ?boys club? of the directors guild, and how few women directors are ever nominated for any of the big prizes. Personally, I don?t mind that Greta Gerwig wasn?t nominated for Best Director this year, but when you see the list of female directors who made good or interesting or noteworthy films this year, it is striking how little hype or recognition those ladies got. So Natalie decided to recognize them with her Dior look. She had their names embroidered in gold onto her Dior cape:
