Clad in workout wear, the ?Garden State? gal was joined by beau Benjamin Millepied as she walked out of the office, her pooch in hand.
In other news, as good as an actress as she is, Ms Portman recently revealed how terrifying it was to share an intimate, on-screen kiss with Mila Kunis for the upcoming film ?Black Swan.?
She told press, ?I was terrified. At the moment I lived in a state of inner terror,? and added, ?Nudity is something absolutely natural and I?m not prudish ? but in a film it can be distracting. Doing Black Swan I couldn?t say no. The project is a huge opportunity for me to show a new me. I can?t always play the nice mothers. My other problem is that single pictures are being taken out of context and put on the internet.?

In the flick, the 20-year-old actress steps out of her Bella Swan character to play a 16-year-old girl named Marylou, who, according to Life & Style, "has a threesome with a couple of hotties, asks to watch two people have sex and brags about loving to perform oral sex."
Of K-Stew's decision to take on the steamy role, Ryan Schinman of Platinum Rye Entertainment told Life & Style, "Many actors who are entering adulthood want to make their own mark and stop being seen as bubblegum, cookiecutter teen stars. Kristen likely wants to be taken more seriously as an actress -- and show she's not afraid to break out of the mold."

Oooh, a new Brad Pitt interview! He?s promoting Make It Right NOLA, and he?s likely doing press for it because the five-year anniversary of Hurricane Katrina is upon us. Brad spoke to Douglas Brinkley, noted historian and author of one of the seminal works on Katrina, The Great Deluge: Hurricane Katrina, New Orleans and the Mississippi Gulf Coast. Whenever actor Brad Pitt is in New Orleans, he gets on his old thrift-store bicycle and tools around the city enjoying the architecture and ambiance. It?s his way of staying in shape. His favorite destination is pedaling across the retractable North Claiborne Avenue Bridge to the Lower 9th Ward to inspect his Make It Right Foundation houses.
The entire Make It Right saga is a ?Hail Mary? pass that worked.
Starting in 2006, Pitt?s foundation commissioned 13 architecture firms to design affordable, eco-friendly houses. Pitt decided to build these houses — nearly 50 at last count — on the exact spot where the Industrial Canal levee breached on Aug. 29, 2005.
Pitt is in New Orleans this week to attend Katrina anniversary events. A true Hollywood workhorse, seldom getting a day off, Pitt spoke to me following a brutal 50-hour-a-week production schedule on a Hollywood set.

Since this piece is so lengthy, I?m really going to try to edit it down to the bare essentials. Hint: I?m taking out all of the crap about sports, because I just don?t care. But Brad did have nice stuff to say about the Saints and Reggie Bush. Whatever. Here you go:
Tell me about your love affair with New Orleans. You?ve become perhaps the city?s most effective booster. How did that happen?
I came to New Orleans back in 1994 doing the ?Interview with the Vampire? movie, based on the Anne Rice novel, and fell in love with the city. It got under my skin. Everything was sexy and sultry. I?d ride my bike all over the place, amazed by the architecture. I?d return to New Orleans every chance I could. What can I say; it?s got the best people, the best everything. It?s the most interesting city in America.
Where were you when Hurricane Katrina hit on Aug. 29, 2005?
In Calgary, up in Canada, making the movie ?The Assassination of Jesse James.? I couldn?t get my eyes off the TV. It was frustrating seeing all those people on rooftops screaming for help. It was abhorrent. I was gutted. I remember thinking we can do better in America. Everybody seemed to make mistakes at a federal, local and state level. I used to ride my bike around the Lower 9th ? usually going to the Holy Cross area to look around. My instinct said that we have to find a way for those people to find a road home. New homes were clearly going to be needed.
When did the idea of Make It Right houses come into focus?
I got involved with Global Green and various Bill Clinton initiatives. I met a lot of smart people. But nobody was doing what I thought needed to be done. Look, I?m an architecture junkie. And the holy grail of architecture is finding ways to design sustainable urban communities. The Lower 9th had become a clean slate. Everything had been washed away. So quite naively ? and I know I?m naive ? I said let?s start at ground zero, the very historic neighborhood that got devastated by Katrina. We brought architect William McDonough into the picture and things took off. We started building prototypes. The Lower 9th is the iconic spot of Katrina. It?s where the levees breached. It represents a marginalized people stuck in a man-made disaster. I met Katrina victims who had been given FEMA trailers and had nothing to hook them up to. Others had formaldehyde problems. What was the message? We were telling people to come home and yet when they got back to New Orleans they were treated in a substandard way. I just thought it was atrocious.
How do you feel seeing those Lower 9th families living today, on the fifth anniversary of the storm, in beautiful Make It Right houses?
Great! I was in the Lower 9th for Memorial Day. Families were barbecuing and swimming in the little, you know, pop-up swimming pools. And families were coming together and saying hi. You know, the simple acts of kindness. A lot of residents no longer have only a cynical view of Katrina, they have a brighter perspective about life. And when I say kindness I mean Make It Right was built on the donations of people. Americans donated. That has a deep effect on the people living in these homes. We have solar panels providing the energy, and it works and fellow Americans paid for it. Not the government.
When you came down from Calgary to see the Lower 9th in person back in 2005, were you shocked?
Yeah. It was, like I said, a blank canvas. It was obliterationville. It was a blank, blank, blank canvas. A house sitting on top of a house on top of a house sitting on top of a station wagon with a boat jammed through it. It was, you know, shocking devastation. The place looked like a giant eraser had come in and just erased away those homes. You know, these weren?t just houses. These were people?s lives shattered. Families in pain, memories washed away, just obliterated.
A lot of people saw the devastation in the Lower 9th. But only you acted on rebuilding it?
OK, I was naive, totally naive. I credit naivete with our success. I was also an opportunist. I saw this land, it was available, and I thought we could make a difference. Starting from scratch has its benefits. Too often we give disaster victims cheap building products, slipshod materials, and then put on top of them the burden of energy bills and medical bills. You know it?s the badly built levees that destroyed these people?s lives. We needed, as a country, to do something right for them. A new paradigm was needed. The technology was available. So I thought, ?Let?s build houses that answer all the problems.? We needed to make amends for over 1,500 deaths. We had to fix the grave injustice the best we could. Let?s face the facts: Shoddy Army Corps levee work was the culprit behind the 2005 flooding of New Orleans. People in pre-Katrina had been sold cement slabs in the Lower 9th next to the levee. These folks were told it?s all right to build homes, for example, on Tennessee Avenue. They were set up. I mean not necessarily intentionally, but through the negligence of levee maintenance. But, lo and behold, the Lower 9th is now the greenest ? I don?t even like the word green ? it?s the most high-performing clean neighborhood in the world, according to the Green Building council.
Are you hoping this can be a pilot project or prototype community to develop elsewhere? Do you have a global vision?
That was the plan. That was the plan all along. This thing could become a template for other communities to follow. And we?ve trained New Orleans contractors on how to build these homes.
When did you decide to be a New Orleans homeowner?
I?ve always wanted to have something there. I had looked into some properties in the late ’90s and almost bought a home. But my personal life didn?t make it possible then. After Katrina, in 2006, it just became a need. I needed to be down in the Lower 9th and I wanted to make films in New Orleans because I love being in the city so much.
Can you still get around New Orleans on your bike? Do you put a sweatshirt hood over your head? Or does your facial hair serve as a disguise?
In New Orleans, the people are great. They leave Angie and me alone. Unfortunately, we drag paparazzi with us from other places in the world. They become a bit of a hindrance. We try to go out and all the locals are so great, and then these paparazzi ruin it. But otherwise, man, we can just live and breathe and ride bikes. We can take our kids on bike rides, and local people just give us a shout out?and let us move on. It?s very free for us in New Orleans, very nice for us. It?s like Venice or Rome; an essential world city. So we feel honored to be involved with the community. Everybody treats us like neighbors.
How do you feel about the grass-roots movement of Brad Pitt for U.S. senator or mayor of New Orleans?
Yeah, with my past? (Laughs). It isn?t going to happen. Oh, my, the skeletons that would come out of my closet. That?s a losing venture.
Did something in your Missouri upbringing connect you emotionally to New Orleans?
Yeah, there is a strain of that. New Orleans holds a southern mentality but also an East Coast mentality regarding the importance of art and culture in life. Somehow Springfield, Mo. ? in the southern part of the state ? seemed more connected down the interstate to New Orleans than St. Louis or Kansas City. It?s a Southern thing in me.
When you?re working in L.A. or Europe, do you listen to New Orleans music?
Truthfully, my favorite sound in the entire world is opening up the balcony doors in the French Quarter and hearing four different sounds playing at once from the apartments across the way or down the street. Or, you know, behind our house. And it?s a balmy night, twilight, and I?m drinking a beer and this feeling just falls over me, of contentment. It gives me goose bumps to talk about it.
If you had a magic wand, what would you want to see happen in New Orleans during the fifth anniversary commemorations?
I?d like to see more people still be able to get back. More specifically, for our Make It Right project, I would like to expand our template to St. Bernard Parish. You know, out of all the Lower 9th homes we built, all are producing more energy than they are spending, than they are consuming. They?re all pollution-free. This is an amazing story to me. Many of our homeowners don?t owe anything for energy use. We can prove that low-income and high-performance houses work. No more antiquated building practices are needed in New Orleans; let?s put that one behind us. We?re on track to build more homes in the Lower 9th and perhaps in St. Bernard Parish. We are getting the prices down. All our safety measures are intact. I hope house experts will come look. I can back up what I?m saying. Our homes are affordable, high-performance, and safe. And there is an aesthetic to them all. Now I want to drive the price down. OK, that is fair to say, the price needs to come down. But any other criticism you hear doesn?t hold up.
What do you say to people who don?t think the Lower 9th is safe because the levees are still weak? How do you know the wall won?t collapse again in a Category 3 or 4 or 5 hurricane?
Sure, I have concerns. I mean it was the first question we had to ask: Are we putting people back into the danger zone? Well, there is a Road Home program. Nobody is giving them enough money to return safely. In our eyes, you?re setting people up for another catastrophe. Our houses are built high enough from the ground to endure flooding if the levees don?t hold up. As for the iconic Industrial Canal breach spot? It?s been dealt with by engineers to a large degree, dealt with better than the other walls. You know what my worry is? My worry is not the Lower 9th, it?s the upper 9th. Because that protection wall wasn?t dealt with. It?s a foot or two lower than the levee in our neighborhood. If the Army Corps would just have spent a little bit more time, put in a little more focus and a little bit more money and done it right the first time, New Orleans would be a far safer place. And it wouldn?t have cost the billions of dollars to fix what was wrong. And I find that inexcusable. So our Make It Right homes are built right. And that?s where the title came from: Make It Right. Just make it right for everybody. Make things fair to the people of New Orleans. Make it right.

Look, I know Brad it probably going to get bashed for this interview, just because he gets bashed for breathing at this point, but I personally think on this point, on this issue, he is 100% authentic, passionate, dedicated and awesome. We can bitch and moan about the costs or the architecture or the timing or all of it, but the truth of the matter is that Brad puts his time and money where his mouth is, and that?s always something I respect. Make It Right NOLA is one of his greatest passions, and he?s stuck with it, and I believe he?ll continue to stick with it, no matter how complicated things get. For this, I have nothing but admiration and applause for him.

She said she “swears by almost nothing for breakfast for adults.” Almost all nutritionists would disagree with her and say that’s counter-productive for weight loss, but whatever. The 45 year-old mother of one and B-movie actress is hustling to sell her line of organic food and swimwear and she’s making some semi-controversial tweets. I guess I can’t blame her, as much she bugs. Here’s what she tweeted. Look she even threw Zac Efron in there in case she’s not getting enough attention for her boobs and terrible diet advice. You can learn a lot about a celebrity by their tweets. I was praising Kellie Pickler earlier today for sounding so normal and nice on Twitter, and we know that LeAnn Rimes is a crazy rock-the-cradle nutjob. Elizabeth is a smug hungry bitch and she’ll tell you about it. Huffpo reminds us that she lost weight after having her one kid by holing up at Elton John’s house and eating those 50 calorie oat cakes and nothing else. I checked her website to see if her bikinis were cute, and they’re outrageously overpriced at 70 Euro and up for just a top, and an additional 70 Euro for bottoms. That’s around $177 USD for one bikini! They’re not even that unique with very simple styles. Some of her one pieces cost 170 Euro, which is $214 USD. No wonder she’s hustling for some press. Her 100 calorie oat bars are more reasonable at a little over $8 for 10. She should recommend that people eat those for breakfast instead of just for a snack.

Stepping out for some press duties, Christina Applegate was spotted arriving at ?The Late Show with David Letterman? yesterday (August 25).
The ?Married With Children? star looked beautiful in a black dress with red accents as she headed inside the Ed Sullivan Theater for her interview.
During her conversation with Letterman, Christina confessed that being pregnant has taken away her internal filter and hence her patience with people is gone.
Ms. Applegate shared a story where she was recently admonished by a security guard for parking too close to a bank ATM.
"This security guard started yelling at us for parking there, and I went, 'Shhh, shhh! It is too hot out to be a douchebag, OK?'"

The project is being produced by Graham King and written by ?Usual Suspects? screenwriter Christopher McQuarrie and looks to be quite the challenge.
Jolie will play a woman who is released from jail after serving a 15-year murder sentence as she tries to stay alive while her victim?s son seeks revenge.
Additionally, Angelina is also working on a film about a love story that takes place in the context of the Bosnian War. She?ll write, direct, and produce the film.

Drew Barrymore got kind of testy during an interview in London promoting her new film with on-off boyfriend Justin Long, Going The Distance. She frankly told a reporter that the last journalist she’d talked to had harped too much on her troubled past and that she “wanted to punch her” and “wanted to rip this woman’s face off.” This is interesting because just yesterday Lainey at Lainey Gossip wrote a great editorial about how Drew is always very professional and sunny when promoting her films, even when they’re headed for dudsville. I really liked the way Lainey explained it. She wrote that celebrities are fragile people and that it bothers them when their films are trashed by critics, but that they have to keep going and acting like everything is ok. “Drew isn?t my favourite right now, but right now she?s also a survivor. So no doubt, if Going the Distance is sh-t, and that?s been the assumption, she?s had a lot of practise showing up for class tomorrow. Drew as you know is a seasoned warrior in the business.”
Maybe it’s getting to Drew, though, judging from how she’s said to have acted in London during her press tour. This doesn’t sound like her at all, and she must have been on edge:
Today, at 35, in plaid shirt and velvet sneakers, she is the antithesis of the spoiled Hollywood starlet. Thinner in the face than on screen, she is teeny at 5ft 4in.
I ask about Going the Distance and the importance of rom-coms. ?I need them at the end of a crap day ? a nice happy ending and a fairytale,? she agrees. ?On the other hand I like movies that are very grounded in reality but still maintain their comedy.?
Her character Erin is alternately tough and vulnerable ? a modern-day Katharine Hepburn. ?I’m not at that place in my life where I want to play a character who says, I just have to get married’. I swear to God, with some of these romantic comedies, these women are being shot in the butt with steroids, and I feel like they’ll eat the husband alive on their wedding day. It just terrifies me ? I don’t relate to that at all. I want to have a job. In fact, this movie asks the question: How do you keep the job and the guy?’ That is a question I’m interested in discussing, not like I’m going to rip your hair out because you stole my wedding dress’. I don’t care about that.?
Rom-coms conspire to keep lovers apart (class, sexuality, race) but here it’s lack of money and employment. ?It’s not a movie where the female lead is in Christian Louboutins and thousand-dollar suits,? she agrees. There are some great jokes including an excruciating phone sex scene. Barrymore says she wanted to out the taboo. ?It can be tricky,? she laughs.
Encouraged by her tone, I gesture at the clippings on the table and say I’m exhausted reading about her ?wild child? past. Does she ever lose patience talking about it?
She nods angrily. ?You should have heard this bitch I had to do an interview with before you. God, I wanted to punch her, she would just not drop the youth thing. I have no problem talking about it. I am not someone who is ashamed of my past. I’m actually really proud. I know I made a lot of mistakes, but they in turn were my life lessons.
?It’s actually good to get it done young and have a great life later. But yeah, man, I wanted to rip this woman’s face off. She just would not shut up about it.?

It makes you wonder who the other reporter was and if there’s video of this terrible interview she had with Drew. It sounds really harsh but maybe Drew was totally fed up. It must grate on you to have to do so many interviews in a row, especially when people ask stupid questions. Drew will get through it, though, and she’ll keep making romcoms that aren’t quite as bad as the other crap out there. There is indeed buzz that her movie sucks, but it might do ok at the box office. It can’t do worse than The Switch.
Drew was on Letterman on Tuesday night and told a cute story about getting all her dogs to walk with her on Fifth Avenue without leashes. Note to Drew: that’s not legal! Letterman also showed her his bite marks from his aggressive dog. You can watch a segment of Drew’s interview here. She’s come a long way since flashing Letterman in 1995, but not all people realize that.

When I read that Sandra Bullock was going to give her first TV interview after the scandal over her now ex-husband being a tattooed swastika-loving creep who thinks with his dick, I thought “hasn’t she already given a televised interview?” It turns out she hasn’t, and has only spoken to People Magazine along with making several event appearances. The fact that I follow celebrity gossip so closely and was initially confused about this speaks to how expertly Sandra and her people have handled her image. They waited until the divorce was final and the scandal lost its shock value to put Sandra out there in person. They also leaked several strategic stories to the press on Sandra’s relationship with Jesse in preparation for whatever she decided to do. Thankfully she hasn’t reunited with the guy despite his move to Austin to be closer to her, and she’s now headed for more success with at least six films in development. She’s also helping out the Warren Easton Charter School in New Orleans and will be speaking to Today Show’s Matt Lauer from New Orleans to highlight her work there.

You know, I bet Sandra will primarily talk about her charity work and career and will give like two minor well rehearsed blurbs on that whole mess with Jesse. I don’t think she’s going to get into any of that and she’ll speak about it in general terms and move on. It’s also interesting that she’s doing it from New Orleans. This reminds me of the interview Angelina Jolie did with Anne Curry in Namibia back when she was pregnant with Shiloh in 2006. If a celebrity wants to take the focus away from a scandal, the best way to do that is to have the interview in a place where there’s something immediate and preferably positive to talk about. The fifth anniversary of Hurricane Katrina is Sunday, and the new health clinic in the Warren Easton Charter School will open on that day. It offers full service medical and dental care and has been funded by The San Francisco 49ers, the Kellogg Foundation and Sandra. Back in June, The National Enquirer and other tabloids began reporting that Liam Hemsworth and Miley Cyrus had broken up - and that Liam was the one who was tired of Miley?s drama, etc. Within hours, Miley had issued a denial and the next day, Miley trotted (heh) Liam out for a forced-looking photo op. At the time, I thought they were dumb kids, but they were still together - for the time being. Well, it?s looking like it really is O-V-E-R now. Gossip Cop broke the story late Wednesday that Liam and Miley split ?pretty recently.? Liam?s rep confirmed it, and Liam?s friend tells the site that Hemsworth is completely ?single.? Miley and Liam were together for more than a year? I?m thinking they were together for something like 15 or 16 months?? Pretty good run for such a young couple, in my opinion. Us Weekly has more:
Miley Cyrus is back on the market. The teen queen, 17, has split with Aussie actor Liam Hemsworth, Hemsworth rep tells UsMagazine.com. (Cyrus’ rep had no comment.)
The two met in 2009 on the set of The Last Song, based on the Nicholas Sparks novel.
This past March, she told Ellen DeGeneres when she was first introduced to Hemsworth, 20, she didn’t think anything of it.
“I was actually going through a tough time,” she said. “I was like, guys just need to be out of my life for a little while. [I thought] ‘I just need to alone.’”
“But I met him, and he opened the door for me, and I was like, I have been in L.A. for three years and I don’t think any guy has actually opened the door for me,” she went on. “It wasn’t that he wanted the job. That’s just who he is. I was like, ‘Wow, that is super-impressive.’ I actually turned to the director and said, ‘He’s got the job.’ He’s hot and he opened the door. Excellent.”
At the March 25 L.A. premiere of Last Song, he told Us they had “a lot of fun” filming the romantic drama.
“It was pretty much jokes every day,” he said. “Jokes and shooting on the beach — there wasn?t much to complain about!”
The same month, she gushed to Parade: “[Liam has] become my best friend in the whole wide world. I love him. He really respects me for who I am because coming from Australia, he really didn?t know me as the celebrity I am here. I got to tell him about myself on my own terms and my own way. He had no preconceived notion of who I was supposed to be.”
In June, she took to her website to deny rumors that they’ve called it quits. On her website, she told fans: “Just wanna clear up a rumor. Liam [Hemsworth] and I did not break. EVER! We are so happy and a lot of that has to do with the amazing relationship he has with my family.”

News is basically saying that Miley dumped Liam because she’s so focused on work right now and Liam is a “distraction,” AND because Liam has been screwing around on her. Casablanca sites some sources who claim that in early August, Liam cheated on Miley and then went to Michigan (where she’s filming LOL), but only stayed for 24 hours. Ted is really pushing the “Miley dumped Liam” angle.

Having just flown home from a press visit to Miami, the "Into the Blue" babe looked her usual gorgeous self as she rode in a low rider while arriving to the premiere of "Machete" before joining up with co-stars Danny Trejo and Michelle Rodriguez.
The film stars Trejo as an ex-Federale who is hired to kill an American politician only to be double crossed by his boss. What follows can only be described as a brutal rampage of revenge.
And though Trejo is tough enough to carry the film all on his own, he gets some help from stars like Jess, as well as Robert De Niro, Cheech Marin and Lindsay Lohan.
Robert Rodriguez wrote and directed the flick, which is sure to have plenty of action, killing, and tense dialog as it hits theaters on September 3rd.
