Christina Applegate has had a rough year. In August, Christina announced that she was diagnosed with multiple sclerosis. In 2008, Christina was diagnosed with breast cancer. She has since been free and clear after treatment and in 2017 she had her ovaries and fallopian tubes removed to prevent the cancerfrom returning. Christina has received support from her The Sweetest Thing co-star, Selma Blair, who also has MS. On Thanksgiving, which coincidentally was her 50th birthday, Christina wrote an uplifting message about having MS. Below are a few highlights via People:
The Emmy Award winner celebrated her 50th birthday Thursday, which was also Thanksgiving, with an encouraging message for her 1.4 million Twitter followers. Yup. I turned 50 today. And I have MS. Its been a hard one, she wrote.
Sending so much love to all of you this day, Applegate continued. Many are hurting today, and I am thinking of you. May we find that strength to lift our heads up. Mine currently is on my pillow. But I try.
She previously talked about her experience with MS on Twitter in August, a few months after she was diagnosed. Its been a strange journey. But I have been so supported by people that I know who also have this condition, Applegate wrote at the time. Its been a tough road. But as we all know, the road keeps going. Unless some asshole blocks it.
Applegate has since been met with love from friends and fans alike. Selma Blair, with whom she starred alongside Cameron Diaz in the 2002 romantic comedy The Sweetest Thing, offered her support in the replies.
Loving you always. Always here. As are our kids. Beating us up with love, Blair, 49, wrote, to which Applegate responded: Love you sister. Our kids are so weird.
[From People]
It was courageous that Christina took the time to acknowledge her pain while uplifting others. I will always be a Christina fan because her role as Kelly Bundy kept me from falling into deep depression as a teenager. Because of that, Christina has always been sort of a super heroine for me. I also really enjoyed Christina in The Sweetest Thing (in fact I may watch it next week in solidarity). I have been following Christinas health journey for quite some time and when she announced that she had MS in August, I was gutted. I knew that Christina had battled cancer in the late aughts and survived the ordeal and hoped that was the end of her health issues. This revelation hurts me just as much as Selma Blairs diagnosis. Women like Christina and Selma are so iconic (hello 90s) that it hurts to see them dealing with such a debilitating disease.
It has been so encouraging to see Christina build a digital community around her diagnosis these last few months. I have seen her give others suffering from MS thoughtful advice. I am sure Selma will be a helpful resource as Christina navigates her diagnosis. I hope that Christina is still in good spirits despite everything shes gone through. Hopefully 2022 will be a better year for Christina. She honestly deserves it. And happy 50th birthday to her.

This is sad news. Christina Applegate announced yesterday that she?s been diagnosed with multiple sclerosis. Per her tweet, she found out a few months ago but is just now going public with the diagnosis. In 2008, Christina was diagnosed with breast cancer and decided on a double mastectomy due to her family history with the disease. She decided against chemotherapy because she hoped to have a baby in later years, which she did, in 2011. A few years after giving birth to Sadie, Christina removed her ovaries and fallopian tubes as a preventative measure against ovarian cancer, to which she?d lost her cousin. Four years after that, she found out she has MS. So she?s letting her fans know, but also telling them she still needs a little time to deal with it.
Christina Applegate has been diagnosed with multiple sclerosis.
The Dead to Me actress, 49, took to Twitter on Tuesday, writing, Hi friends. A few months ago I was diagnosed with MS.
Its been a strange journey. But I have been so supported by people that I know who also have this condition, she continued. Its been a tough road. But as we all know, the road keeps going. Unless some asshole blocks it.
As one of my friends that has MS said we wake up and take the indicated action. And thats what I do, the Emmy winner wrote in another tweet.
Applegate then asked for privacy as I go through this thing.
[From People]
Christina is always upfront about her medical issues. She?s open because she believes it can save lives. She watched her mother battle breast cancer and saw it come back time and again. By coming forward with her diagnosis and treatment choices, she hoped to save lives through information and I?m certain she did. Just as I am that she did the same thing by talking about testing BRCA positive and ovarian cancer. It sounds as if this MS diagnosis really threw her for a loop. I?m not surprised. I only know one person personally who was diagnosed with it and its been a hard road for them. I?m glad Christina knows others living with MS so she has guides for her journey who can help. Of course, her The Sweetest Thing co-star, Selma Blair, is living with MS. I?ll bet she?s been a huge comfort to Christina. ?We wake up and take the indicated action,? sounds like something Selma would say.
I?m sure Christina is scared right now and I understand why she still needs some time. She?s such a fighter, though, and I know she?ll take this on with the same determination she has the rest. I also know she has many friends who adore her in Hollywood she can lean on. I have no doubt she will fill us in when she?s ready because her belief is, ?We [as actors] are fortunate to have this platform to be like, I am just like you, I cant sleep, I feel like crap a lot of the time because of this, but I want you to feel okay with it and not feel shame about it and get information about it so that you can have a better quality of life.? Wishing Christina much comfort during this time.

| Christina Applegate in Monique Lhuillier at the SAGs: fug or just ok? | Added 4 years ago | Source: CeleBitchy |

Christina Applegate was nominated for lead actress in a comedy, which of course went to Phoebe Waller Bridge. As I always mention when covering her, watch Dead to Me on Netflix! Its highly entertaining and you wont be able to resist binging it. She gave a good performance of a damaged person working through their sh-t. Its also a nice look at female friendship. Christina was looking dowdy in this abstract floral print Monique Lhuillier, which looked worse on camera actually. This is quite dated and frumpy looking. The skirt might be ok with a sleeker solid color top, but the 70s secretary blouse brings it firmly into fug territory. Sometimes I wonder if celebrities get strong armed by their stylists, if they dont know any better, or if they just dont care. I think in Christinas case she knows how this looks and shes trying to own it, but not quite succeeding. Her star and moon earrings are really cool.
Elisabeth Moss was in pepto Pink Monique Lhuillier and shes similarly drowning in frumpy fabric from another era. Again, the skirt is perfectly fine but the matchy top and ruffled neckline put it over the top. Shes using her sunny disposition to try to make the best of a bad situation.
Elisabeths costar Madeline Brewer got the best Lhuillier, which is truly not saying much. Why are tiered ruffle skirts making a comeback? There were so many of them last night. That said, at least the bodice is fitted and shes not covered head to toe in blue polka dot tulle. I dislike this trend of little-to-no eye makeup.

If you guys follow me on Twitter (please also follow Kaiser, Hecate and Corey) you may have noticed that I’ve been tweeting some of the hate mail we get. I started out on Twitter meaning to post a lot more of it, I’ve just been saving it to a gmail folder, but so much of it is the same – snide sh-t about how we shouldn’t talk politics because we don’t understand (meaning we don’t share that person’s hateful views) and that we should stick to the gossip alone. Invariably those people are fine with the way our country is being decimated and some celebrate it. As Kaiser put it so well yesterday, there is hardly any pure gossip anymore because politics and celebrity intersect. We have a buffoon in the White House who wouldn’t be there if NBC hadn’t given him a platform for years. Also, once I dug more into the mail it started to get to me so I stopped posting it to Twitter, where some of those same hateful people repeated the same things. So many more of you have said you appreciate what we do and I want to thank you so much for that! Thank you for tweeting, thank you for commenting, and thank you for coming back.
We get some crap for speaking out, but I can’t imagine what that that kind of pressure can be like for celebrities, who must collect so much stupidity on Twitter especially. Earlier this week we saw Pauley Perrette go off on someone who suggested she was out of touch and didn’t know middle class struggles. That criticism is simply code for “don’t talk about politics in a way that doesn’t reflect my same backwards views.” Christina Applegate has now done the same to twitter trolls telling her essentially the same thing. Please keep in mind that this is what these people always say. “You don’t understand me” or “stick to gossip/acting,” which means “I don’t agree with you so I want to shut you down.” I don’t know what tweet she’s responding to here but they’re all very similar so it doesn’t really matter.
If anyone has seen Christina’s somewhat heartbreaking Who Do You Think You Are episode, about finding out what happened to her alcoholic grandmother whom her father never knew, you would know that she did not have an privileged upbringing. I completely get where she is coming from here. I mean I usually don’t deal with trolls but this situation is so bad it feels personal. Objectively, the other side is horrible. That’s why I posted those emails I’m sick of it. Maybe they feel the same about our side but only one of us is on the right side of history. Facts, reality, common sense and human decency matter. I don’t think we should have to defend ourselves to them though. Pretty soon we’re all going to be in the same sinking boat and maybe some of them will get it once it’s too late but those loudest ones will continue to blame the people poorer and less privileged than they are, all while revering the monsters ruining the world for everyone except the 1%.
Ok that was dark. Yesterday I found out that there’s a cafe in my town where you can buy vouchers for other people who need to eat free. So I bought some, met the people there and made some friends. That felt good.

| Christina Applegate tears up about loving her daughter: 'it's a spiritual thing' | Added 8 years ago | Source: CeleBitchy |

Christina Applegate, 44, has been through a lot. Applegate underwent a double mastectomy and reconstruction in 2008 after cancer was found in one of her breasts. She decided not to take any chances after seeing her mother suffer from breast cancer and a recurrence. (Her mother thankfully survived.) Around the time that she revealed her cancer diagnosis, there was speculation that Applegate did not get chemotherapy as she was hoping for a baby. She had daughter Sadie Grace, with her then-fiance/now husband, Martyn LeNoble, in 2011. Applegate called Sadie her “miracle baby” and told Ellen at the time that “I?ve been kind of sad for a long time, and she?s just opened my whole soul.” Five years later and Applegate is just as enamored with her daughter as ever, which is sweet. In a new interview with People promoting Bad Moms, she got teary when talking about Sadie.
What is something you didn’t know about motherhood before you became a mom?
I love my kid more than I?ve ever known possible. Like, humanly possible. It?s a spiritual thing. I really love her. The level of love. I feel bad. There were times I didn?t treat my mom all that great. I had no idea how much she loved me. Now, I love my kid [fans face]. Here it goes.
When you see a pregnant woman what is one thing you wish you could tell her?
Kegel it up – Prepare the area for world war. Like I’d walk up to some pregnant lady and be like ‘take care of your vagina right now.’ Oil that thing up. Squeeze it.
[From People]
People’s video features Applegate and her co-star, Annie Mumolo. They also cut to a separate interview with her other costars, Kristen Bell and Kathryn Hahn, who describe being apart from their kids as “missing a limb.” They both say that love for their kids runs deep and is profound and indescribable. They also explain that the time with their children goes so fast, which I used to not understand until I saw my own kid grow up.
As for Applegate getting teared up about her daughter, I get it. I didn’t realize I could care about anyone so much. It also took me having my son to understand how much my mother loved and sacrificed for us. I wasn’t able to have a good relationship with her until I realized that and stopped being so selfish, but I guess that’s not specific to giving birth and can happen at any stage in life.
I went through Applegate’s Twitter (she doesn’t Instagram much) and she doesn’t post many photos of Sadie, but she did have this one. She also gushes about her husband a lot!
I don't usually show pics of my kid. But this photo celebrating pride, needed to be shared!#LoveWins pic.twitter.com/3X13BBNMX3

Katey Sagal of Sons of Anarchy got a star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame yesterday. On hand to help her accept the award were her former Married… With Children co-stars, Christina Applegate, Ed O’Neill and David Faustino. I don’t have a lot of nostalgia for that show because it was so dirty I wasn’t supposed to watch it. I still did, of course, especially as I got older. Wiki says that it aired from 1987 to 1997, which was a whopping 11 seasons. I didn’t remember how long it ran, that’s crazy.
US Magazine has details of the introduction speeches that Katey’s Married co-stars gave on her behalf. You can see the video of that on the website for The Walk of Fame. Ed O’Neil comes in at around 11:30 and Christina Applegate begins at 12:40. She makes a self deprecating joke about how Katey is in better shape than she is and then she says that Katey was like a mom to her on set. David Faustino also called her his “second mamma” and “an inspiration.” Here’s more:
The Bundys are back together! Katey Sagal was awarded with a star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame in Los Angeles on Tuesday, Sept. 9, and was celebrated by familiar faces — her Married With Children costars!
Seventeen years after the final episode of the sitcom aired, Sagal, 60, posed for a photo with former costars Christina Applegate, Ed O’Neill and David Faustino. O’Neill played her on-screen husband Al, while Applegate and Faustino played their kids Kelly and Bud.
In a video posted on the Walk of Fame website, Applegate joked, “I met Katey when I was 15-years-old, so it’s been about 10 years since we met?I’ll never forget the day that I met her. I walked into the rehearsal hall for Married with Children and she was sitting there wearing a white T-shirt and jeans and I’ve never seen anyone look that good in a white T-shirt and jeans in my entire life.”
“The fact that your body is better now than it was then makes me sick,” the Anchorman actress went on to joke. “Because I’m wearing a Fitbit trying to get rid of all my baby weight!”
Sagal, who was nominated for an Emmy four times for her portrayal of whiny housewife Peg Bundy, was also celebrated by current Sons of Anarchy costar and hunk Charlie Hunnam.
[From US Magazine]
I had the pleasure of hearing Katey’s Fresh Air interview last year. She’s a very interesting, introspective lady and she’s had an amazing life so far. Her dad was a writer and director for television and she worked as a backup singer for Bob Dylan when she was just 19. I had no idea she could sing! It was fascinating to get to know her a little because she so convincingly plays characters that it’s hard to see beyond that. She’s incredible as Gemma on SOA and it’s a shame she’s only won a Golden Globe for that role, she hasn’t even been nominated for an Emmy. I hope that changes this year.
I haven’t seen the season premiere of Sons of Anarchy yet and hope to watch it when I’m done working today, so no spoilers please! I’m most interested in seeing how Gemma handles the mess she’s gotten herself into.
Here are some gratuitous photos of Charlie Hunnam, with more in the gallery. Where was Ron Perlman?!

Gearing up for an outbound flight, Christina Applegate showed up at LAX International Airport this morning (April 17).
The ?Married With Children? actress carried a black mandolin case as she headed through the security checkpoint, leaving her family at home for her solo trip.
Of her 2-year-old daughter Sadie Grace, Christina recently told press, ?I?m watching what she finds funny now. If she sees something that she really thinks is funny, she does this crack-up on her own. It?s really awesome to see, ?Oh wow, you?re learning what tickles you.? It?s not influenced by anybody else, which is really a cool, new thing.?
?Sadie and I talk about what she dreamt about, we talk about what we?re going to do that day, we talk about what we did the day before, and we talk extensively about these things. It?s really a fun part of her development. Now she?s my little person, she?s my little best friend.?

| Christina Applegate on her double mastectomy: 'I miss my exquisite breasts' | Added 12 years ago | Source: CeleBitchy |

Back in August of 2008, Christina Applegate made the difficult decision to have a double mastectomy following a breast cancer diagnosis. She opted for a mastectomy because she didn’t want to worry about making sure the cancer was eradicated, because she had the breast cancer gene (her mother is a two time breast cancer survivor as well) and presumably because she wanted to have children and chemotherapy would have significantly reduced her chances. Following reconstructive surgery, Applegate did have a baby a little over a couple of years later, with her partner, Martin Lenoble. It’s a sweet story of triumph after cancer, although of course there’s more to it. In a new interview with More magazine, Applegate gave some additional details of what she was going through at the time, and it sounds just awful. She says she wasn’t ready to reveal her cancer diagnosis but that she had to, essentially. (A tabloid reported the story before she announced it and forced her hand.) After she went public with the news, she kind of “crashed,” which is to be expected. Here’s
