In a new interview with The Advocate, Emma Stone talks about her big gay following, having a crush on Christina Hendricks and becoming a lesbian. Two of those things are very relevant to my interests.
Celebrity activism: I?m the least eloquent person on the planet, so I don?t know that I?d be the right person to speak out on anything. But that?s what?s so wonderful about good movies and writers: I can be a part of a project that says what I wish I could say. My ultimate goal is to continue doing movies with some sort of message that can make a change, like Easy A or The Help. Because that?s what good movies do for me: They teach me and bring injustices to my attention.
Strong female roles: Oh, I?m so flattered. The tomboy quality is probably coincidental just due to the fact that my voice hits male octaves most of the time. I don?t really think about it ? I just respond to what I read ? but I must be subconsciously drawn to women who, even if they don?t necessarily have their shit together, are secure within themselves and don?t need a man to fix them.
Girl crushes: Christina Hendricks. It?s a no-brainer. Everything about her does it for me. That?s my kind of woman.
Lesbianism: No, I don?t have a girlfriend. But who knows? You love who you love…In some friendships there?s so much love between two people that there?s just a fine line. Hey, I have girlfriends that I?m incredibly close to, and there?s definitely a fine line there.

From the very beginning of their whirlwind courtship, Katy Perry and Russell Brand gave off vibes of knowing they were working against the odds of a successful long-term pairing. Still, they persisted in a quickie marriage before Russell returned to his movie star career, and Katy departed for a nine-month, candy-themed, pop-star tour. Naturally, subsequent issues have arisen. He doesn’t like that she still smokes and parties without him, and she worries that he will cheat during her tour. Hence the rumors that they were already seeking couple therapy three months in because, essentially, they got married when they had a free weekend and then resumed their own respective life paths. Naturally, it didn’t help matters that Russell got deported from Japan during one of their rare shagging opportunities. And perhaps it really was a bad omen when Katy developed a mysterious rash during their honeymoon. Whatever the ultimate cause (and I suspect that there are indeed many), Star predicts that tensions (and distance) between the couple are so high that they’ll be divorced before their marriage hits the one-year mark.
Any long-distance relationship is hard. Now imagine photos of your far-away husband holding hands with a mystery blonde splashed around the globe! That’s exactly what happened to Katy Perry when pics surfaced of her husband of eight months, Russell Brand, looking very chummy with a woman on the set of his new movie, Rock of Ages. The woman is reportedly a stylist on the film and a platonic friend, but it’s just the latest issue for a couple who have seen each other only a handful of times during the past four months and are leading separate lives.
And things are not getting better. Katy and Russell will spend only four days together in the next six months, Star has learned. “Neither of them thought about the crushing reality of their demanding careers or the effect it would have on the marriage,” a mutual friend tells Star exclusively. “They love each other, but they’re barely ever together.” That has raised questions about whether the marriage can survive.
Just recently, they managed to carve out a rare three days together in Miami, where Russell is living as he films his movie, costarring Julianne Hough and Tom Cruise. Katy’s schedule is no less hectic. After performing in the Bahamas, she was thrilled to have a brief break in her grueling California Dreams tour, which began in February and has recently been extended through November.
Their blissful weekend was agonizingly short for the newlyweds, and their jam-packed calendars are only getting worse. Indeed, their marital home in Los Feliz, Calif., hasn’t been occupied for along time, leading Katy to wonder if they even have a marriage at all, says a source. But neither Katy nor Russell is giving up yet — and they just purchased a $6.5 million mansion in the Hollywood Hills, despite the fact that they will rarely be there together. On top of that, there’s the issue of that recent photograph. “Katy wants to save the marriage, but she is starting to think that if she’s not physically there, Russell will be cozying up to other girls because he’s a guy who needs human contact and reassurance.”
Oceans and overseas concerts aren’t the only things driving a wedge between the colorful couple. Many close to Katy worry that impulsive Russell rushed her into marriage, only to default on his promises. “It was all Russell’s doing,” a mutual friend says of Katy and Rusell’s whirlwind romance. “He is a recovering addict and in love with the idea of being in love. He told her that they’d overcome any obstacle. Katy’s actually very young and impressionable compared to him, so when he said, ‘Let’s get married! What could possibly go wrong, we’re so in love!’ she was totally taken in.”

This story seems to piggyback upon all of the previous questions about this marriage with the flimsy fact that Russell was being platonically (for him) affectionate on the set of Rock of Ages. Do I think that he’s banging this stylist? No. Do I think he’ll eventually bang someone other than Katy? Yep.
Other than Russell’s notorious shagging reputation (which, honestly, he seems to have curbed), the distance seems to be the real issue at hand here. While I don’t think that the situation is extreme enough that Katy and Russell will divorce within the next four months, I think there might be some regrets on Katy’s end. Certainly, they were both aware of the fact that they’d spend a great deal of time apart, but it’s always different when you’re actually going through it. If these two are right for each other, they’ll work it out, but we all know that’s probably not the case. Still, I think Katy’s probably too stubborn at this point to reveal to the public that she married (the wrong guy) too quickly, so she’ll probably hang on for at least another year or so. I mean, if they’re already physically “separated,” what use to her is a divorce at this point? Now, when (and if) they actually start spending time together, then they’ll figure out whether or not they get along well enough to remain married.
Now, I’m going to go off on a slight tangent. To compare (in the very vaguest sense of the word) Katy and Russell’s situation to a military marriage, a lot of couples can endure lengthy deployments and mobilizations, but it’s the reunion period that causes even more marital tension. Similarly, Japan’s so-called “Retired Husband Syndrome” also illustrates that a marriage can be tested by time apart, but the real definitive element exists in how the couple handles their newly acquired time together. And when this happens for the couple in question, perhaps it will then be time for Russell to realize that Katy is not so endlessly fascinating after all.

Oh. My. God. Seriously, are there still people who actively believe that Beyonce hasn?t gotten tweaked?!? I wasn?t even five seconds into this absolutely AWFUL music video for ?Best Thing I Never Had? (her new single) when I had to stop the video and just gawp at her odd face. She definitely did something to her nose, but I still thing there?s something weird with her eyes/eyebrow area too. BITCH GOT TWEAKED.
As for the video? WTF? Michael K is right - it?s part Victoria?s Secret ad, part David?s Bridal ad. I swear the song sounds like the David?s Bridal jingle too. Now, I?m not a prude (actually, I kind of am), and I can handle scantily-clad pop stars frolicking around in general, unless they?re underage raccoons?.but is anyone else just uncomfortable watching Beyonce?s tweaked face stare down the camera as she wears this white Merry Widow and garters? Sometimes, Beyonce?s videos have a too-close ?snuff film? feel, and this is one of them. I feel like we?re watching her honeymoon video, in which she was just recorded prancing around in lingerie, singing to herself.
And then the out-of-nowhere ?video? from ?1998?? with Beyonce tries a new wig, remarkably not blonde. This whole music video is utterly bizarre. I guess the video is about a blonde who hangs out in lingerie and wedding gowns all day, thinking about how her ex is a douche? The Jennifer Aniston Story, in other words.
That wedding gown is TERRIBLE too. Gold detailing on the bodice, and then those hip ruffles? Tacky. And to make it worse, her veil-tiara is much too big. Everything about this video is a disaster.

One of our favorite gingers (after Michael Fassbender, Prince Harry, etc) is Emma Stone, and she?s got a great new interview in the new issue of The Advocate. Apparently, she has a big gay following, something about her being a tomboy and kissing cute boys that the gays want to claim. Oh, and she?s also done pro-gay movies written by gay writers. When did you become aware of your gay following?
When The House Bunny came out, and it was incredibly exciting. That support is profoundly important and moving to me, because you guys are the best. I grew up with a ton of gay friends and witnessed their struggles. One of the most wonderful things about doing Easy A was that we got to tackle issues that many gay teenagers face.
Did you anticipate the extent to which Easy A would resonate with the gay audience?
Our writer, Bert V. Royal, is gay, and these were issues that he had actually experienced growing up, so we knew that would resonate. But when the movie came out last summer, media coverage of gay teen suicides was everywhere. Because the movie came out right in the eye of that storm, the timing ended up being more relevant and poignant than we anticipated.
Who?s the most important gay person in your life?
I did a lot of theater growing up, and I was lucky to be raised in a family that was very accepting, so someone being gay was never odd or off-putting to me. I have a lot of wonderful gay friends, but one of the most formative men in my life is Max, who?s been my best friend since I was 11 years old. He?s the funniest human being on the planet, and he single-handedly taught me how to do improv. He also taught me what friendship is and what it is to truly know someone. Now we both live in New York, so we?ve been able to stay close for our whole lives.
Your character in The Help, ?Skeeter,? is a young journalist who exposes the injustices suffered by black housemaids in 1960s Mississippi. Do you also strive to use your creative power to speak out on socio-political issues?

In the Crazy, Stupid, Love. trailer, your character admires Ryan Gosling?s shirtless torso and says, ?It?s like you?re photoshopped!? Since you got closer to all that than most of us ever will, what else can you share?
Well, I got to touch it too, so I can confirm that he isn?t photoshopped at all. He put in all the hard work, and it will not disappoint you.
Instead of boy-crazy girly girls, you often play these strong, independent women with an edgy tomboy quality, which has certainly endeared you to lesbian fans.
Really? Oh, I?m so flattered. The tomboy quality is probably coincidental just due to the fact that my voice hits male octaves most of the time. I don?t really think about it ? Making the most of her time across the pond, Selena Gomez was spotted out in London, England yesterday afternoon (July 7).
The ?Ramona & Beezus? babe made her exit from her luxury hotel with an MCM bag in her hands, hiding from the paparazzi behind a pair of black sunglasses.
In a recent interview, Selena chatted about her new album When the Sun Goes Down that recently debuted at #4 in the Billboard Hot 200 Albums Chart.
"I wanted to age it up a little bit and I really wanted it to be different and fun. It's kind of a little bit European sounding too with the repetitive fun beats, baselines and things we've added. The lyric content is really fun, kind of cheeky and different for me. The imaging and artwork was really fun and I got to experiment with different eras, got to have wigs and wear crazy make-up!"
As for her single ?Who Says,? Selena shared, "Originally I wasn't even going to put out a third record because I was finishing Wizards of Waverly Place and going on tour. I wanted to do a single and I heard 'Who Says' and loved it and really wanted that song. The reaction it got was really great. It's really inspiring to me just to sing and then to see how my fans have reacted and the stories I've heard has been really amazing. I wanted to make a whole album that made people feel that way. 'Who Says' is very inspirational.?

Even more Harry Potter premiere stuff! I know, it?s overkill, but these aren?t more red carpet photos (you can see our red carpet coverage here and here). These are photos from the post-premiere party! Little Emma Watson made a costume change from her enormous tulle Oscar de la Renta gown to this sparkly little Elie Saab. Once again, I think Emma pulls it off because of her youth - it?s a girly, frilly, frothy little dress on a young woman, and it works. She doesn?t even look washed out! I?m not a huge fan of the stiffness of the skirt (I imagine it would be difficult to sit in), but it?s not horrible.
As for Emma?s hair? I believe this is the same (awkward) hair style she did at the premiere. I still don?t like it. Does Emma not realize how cute she looks when she just slicks the whole mess down? Of course she realizes it - because she slicked it down for her final look of the evening. That?s right, people. Emma had THREE costume changes in ONE night. How great does this look? THIS should have been the premiere and after-party look. So chic, so simple and glamorous. Although? does anyone have any thoughts on Emma thinking she absolutely needed THREE costume changes for the premiere and after-party?

Last month, one couldn’t help but wonder whether Selena Gomez’s conspicuous hospitalization for “exhaustion” could have anything at all to do with the fact that she and boyfriend Justin Bieber had been joined at the tongue for the previous few months. So there was an audible sigh of relief when Selena almost immediately felt better and was even able to wear hot pants onstage while the Bieb stared at her chest. Certainly, the pair have been anything but subtle with their public displays of gross affection, including but not limited to foot rubbing and butt grabbing. It also didn’t help matters when Selena removed her purity ring; and since the two teen stars currently both enjoy (inexplicably) thriving careers, it’s not much of a stretch to imagine that there are many friends, family members, and otherwise financially interested parties that considered Selena’s little health scare to be a wake up call. In other words and according to Star, insiders are revealing that there is a real panic that a pregnancy scare could become a reality.
Justin Bieber and Selena Gomez have gotten so hot and heavy together, their friends and family members fear the worst — that an accidental pregnancy could derail the teen lovebirds’ careers.
With numerous photos circulating of Justin, 17, and Selena, 18, sharing deep kisses and steamy intertwined embraces, an insider tells Star, “Justin’s been told straight up that if he’s having sex, he had better use protection. He’s young and full of hormones, and the last thing he and Selena need to make is a terrible and costly mistake.
“Everyone knows their intentions are good, but they also know how easy it is to get worked up when you’re young and in love. It would only take a few moments of weakness to cause what could be a lifetime of regret.”
Red flags were raised after Selena was photographed wrapped around Justin’s torso as they frolicked in the surf in Hawaii in late May. Then, on June 9, Selena suddenly checked into a hospital in Burbank, Calif., and the rumor mill went into overdrive buzzing that she was suffering from nausea and dizziness — classic symptoms of early pregnancy.
The singer/actress, whose new movie, Monte Carlo, was just released, later revealed that she had simply been “very malnourished…low on iron and exhausted.” Still, the incident threw a scare into her and Justin’s inner circle.
After those photos from Hawaii surfaced, everyone started whispering that they were probably having sex,” the insider tells Star. “Justin and Selena keep denying it. When they visited his mom, Pattie, in Canada soon after, she delivered a serious lecture on the risks of premarital sex. She likes Selena, but Pattie thinks they’ve been getting far too hot and heavy — and she warned Justin to cool it down.”
No one other than Justin and Selena know for certain if anything is going on behind closed doors, but their PDA has raised plenty of eyebrows — and concerns. Said the insider: “The most important thing is that Justin and Selena don’t throw away their amazing futures because they were careless and foolish.”

While it feels really gross to even speculate whether these two are totally doing it, they probably are enjoying a better more active sex life together than most of us boring adult types do. Although I can see why Justin’s mother has been described as particularly worried, since she reportedly gave birth to the Bieb when she was just sixteen years old. Selena’s mom also had her when she was just 16. If anything, Selena and Bieb he should listen to their moms before anyone else; but like most teenagers, they probably don’t consider the consequences. In other words, if Selena’s not on the pill, she’d better start taking it, like, yesterday.

Would you like to know about this film I?m doing? It?s called Shadow Dancer - NOT MY CHOICE. It sounds like an Elton John song? not that there?s anything wrong with Elton John (when I show up at your door, I will have roses and chocolate and I will serenade you with ?Your Song?). But if I was in charge of naming my movies, they would have titles like ?Biscuit Threat: Clive?s Pants? and ?To Dong and Beyond: The Clive Owen Story?. Anyhoodledongmusk, the film is totally depressing. Something about a young mother involved with the IRA who becomes an MI5 informant. And you wonder why I write to you? you are what lifts my spirits! You and Nespresso, which I?m carrying in these photos. All I need is you and Nespresso, bitches.
On a lighter note, you do remember that I?ve got a film coming out in September, right? It?s called The Killer Elite, and I?m mixing it up with a mustache, Robert DeNiro and Jason Statham. I get to play with big guns (and actual firearms). My mustache twitches winningly, and of course, villains always have more fun. I?m including the trailer (again) and the new poster. I don?t mind if you lick my mustache. Seriously. Go ahead.

Reese Witherspoon-pregnancy speculation began before she even married Jim Toth, and the speculation grows more and more now that they?re hitched. I think it probably started because the engagement was so short - many people gave Reese the ?shotgun wedding? side-eye, probably because Reese had done that before, with her first marriage. In the end, I think Reese and Jim got married so quickly because of scheduling - she was due to spend a month promoting Water for Elephants (which didn?t do so well at the box office), so Reese decided ?Meh, why wait?? Anyway, I wouldn?t be surprised if Reese has an announcement by the end of the year, but that?s not stopping In Touch Weekly from talking to one of Reese?s ?pals? about what Jim and Reese are doing to try for a baby. Hint: It involves Jesus.
They say that the family that prays together, stays together, but Reese Witherspoon, 35, and her new husband Jim Toth, 40, are trying a new twist: A pal reveals that the devoted pair, who are weekly churchgoers, have begun praying for help in expanding their family.
?They both want a baby,? the pal says, ?But instead of trying IVF, they?re turned to God. They say a prayer every night before bed in hopes of conceiving.?

First of all, Reese is only 35, she?s already had two healthy pregnancies, and there?s no reason to think that she isn?t capable of getting pregnant all on her own (I mean, with Jim, obviously), without help from doctors or Jesus. I find the whole ?instead of trying IVF? part to be rather invasive and condescending. Second of all: sure, why not? Praying won?t hurt. But if the prayer room?s rocking, don?t come a? knockin?.

Oh, goodness. I could analyze these photos for a very long time. On Thursday, Jennifer Aniston attended her Grauman?s Chinese Theater hand-and-footprint event. On hand to celebrate? The two most important people in her life, her publicist, Stephen Huvane, and her boyfriend, Justin Theroux. Anyone from Friends? Nope. But her BFF Chelsea Handler was there (mother of God), as was Jason Bateman (cute). So? where should we start? Let?s do fashion first. Aniston wore this cute, flirty little Prada dress that was pretty short, but not too low-cut - she only flashed minimal cleavage when she was bent over, doing her handprints. My guess is that she flashed her biscuits to everyone behind her, though. BUT! We should give thanks that it?s not black, and that she chose a summery frock in the middle of summer (you?d be surprised with how few Hollywood ladies make that choice).
As for her homewrecked lover, Justin? um, I think he looks nice. He looks like an ?edgy boy? used to wearing leather and punk rock studs and mangy beards, who somehow managed to find a nice pair of pants, a lovely, clean dress shirt and a snappy tie, and he put it all together. Two things?he?s wearing dress shoes, not boots! That?s love, people. When I man puts away his beloved boots to wear fancy dress shoes to your event, that means that he cares (or that you dressed him yourself). Second: his grooming. Clean shaven, hair freshly cut, a nice comb over for his bald spot. Not bad at all. Methinks that Justin is totally game for whatever is going down, you know? I?ll say it again: he?s not John Mayer. He?s not some boy who is going to get overwhelmed by ?the process? of being Jennifer Aniston?s Boyfriend. Theroux knows what?s up, he knows what?s expected of him, and he?s meeting those expectations. Maybe he has his own agenda, or maybe he actually cares about Jennifer. I don?t know. But he?s playing the game, and he?s doing really well.
I also enjoy the interplay between Justin and Jennifer in the photos - even though they didn?t pose together, he was still seated close enough to the staging area so as to be in the same frame in many of the photos. His eyes rarely leave Aniston - it?s kind of sexy. She, in turn, seems to be looking at him a lot to, making faces and ?performing? for him, even blowing him a kiss. It?s kind of cute, I?ll admit. I think it might even be ?love?. I KNOW for a fact that it?s ?Aniston?s 2012 Oscar Date?.
As for Huvane - he?s the dark-haired guy in the light plaid shirt, the one who is often in between Jennifer and Justin in the frame. I swear, I can almost make out the strings going from Jennifer and Justin?s backs to Huvane?s hands. Machiavellian bastard. What?s his Aniston Endgame?

If the news of Kim Kardashian’s outrageous gift registry didn’t shock you, this might. Star Magazine is running a piece that states that the price of Kim Kardashian and Kris Humphries’ Halloween wedding is nearly double earlier reported figures. Kim has a guest list that totals over 1,000 people and is having such a huge extravagant bash that costs are quickly getting out of control. Well we did hear that Kim wanted to out-do the royal wedding.
While some have speculated that the price tag for the blowout event [Kim's wedding] will be around $10 million, that staggering number has already doubled, Star has learned. And insiders expect the $20 million to continue ballooning as the big day, which is reportedly Oct. 31, approaches… (By comparison, Prince William and Kate Middleton’s April wedding cost about $60 million.)
The couple will have a jaw-dropping number of loved ones on hand to help them celebrate. “There’s no location yet, but Kim is already inviting at least 1,000, and the list is getting longer,” says an insider. “The original idea was to have a wedding on each coast, but now she wants one huge wedding….”
Every element of Kris, 26, and Kim’s extravaganza will be fit for royalty. When she leaves for the ceremony, she wants everyone watching her as she waves,” says the insider. “Just like William and Kate!”

Read that last paragraph. Kaiser pretty much called it in this earlier story. She wrote, “when [Kim] exits… and gets in her solid gold carriage, she really thinks that all of the peasants will come out and wave to her as she rides by.”
Do you think Kim is going to encourage guests to come in costume? I’m more outraged by the fact that she’s pre-opting a great holiday with her wedding plans. It’s arrogant to ask people to skip Halloween with their family, but that’s Kim. You would think she’d schedule it for another day, and not give up the opportunity to wear another bikini disguised as a costume.

Taken from her just-released album "4," the 29-year-old teases viewers while clad in sexy lingerie during one scene with the video also featuring a long wedding-based sequence.
Singing out the chorus of the solid tune, Beyonce powerfully rings out, "I wanted you bad/ I'm so through with it/ Cuz honestly you turned out to be the best thing I never had/ You turned out to be the best thing I never had/ And I'm gon' always be the best thing you never had/ I bet it sucks to be you right now."

Held at Old Billingsgate Market, the Hermione Granger hottie sashayed into the fete in a comfier, silver and white frock after wearing a floor-length Oscar de la Renta gown to the Trafalgar Square premiere.
Also on hand for the event were Emma's co-stars Rupert Grint, Tom Felton and Bonnie Wright, as well as partygoers such as Pixie Geldof and Eliza Doolittle.

The stunning short-haired actress wiped away tears after an emotional moment onstage as she spoke into the microphone to the thousands of screaming fans lining Trafalgar Square.
With fellow castmates Daniel Radcliffe, Rupert Grint, Tom Felton and author J.K. Rowling also on-hand, Ms Watson wowed the crowd in a floor-length Oscar de la Renta ball gown paired with simple-yet-chic earrings.
Aside from her film hitting theaters this month, Emma is featured Vogue?s July issue as well as the August issue of the UK?s Harper?s Bazaar.
