There will, eventually, be a two-movie adaptation of theWicked musical. There were many production delays due to covid, but rehearsals will begin later this month and filming will start later this year. The movies probably wont come out until Christmas 2024 and 2025. Ariana Grande was cast in the role of Glinda, but apparently Amanda Seyfried vied for the role as well. She auditioned on weekends while filming her role inThe Dropout during the week.
Amanda Seyfried tried out to be Glinda in Wicked.
Playing the role of the good witch in the upcoming movie adaptation of the hit musical was actually a long-held dream, the actress, 36, told Backstage.
Last summer while I was playing Elizabeth [in The Dropout], on the weekends I was auditioning in person to play Glinda in the movie version of Wicked ? because I wanted it that much that I was like, You know what? Yeah, I have to play the last scene of The Dropout on Tuesday. Ill give my Sunday to you, said Seyfried, who scored an Emmy nomination for The Dropout.
She continued, I literally bent over backwards while playing the hardest role of my life. But I think it also taught me how far Ive come as a singer, which I really wanted to prove. Because ever since Les Miz, I was like, I need to be better. I need to do better. So whatever comes next in terms of musicals, Im finally prepared.
Seyfrieds love for the musical goes even further back. The Mean Girls alum said on Varietys Awards Circuit podcast that shed been campaigning for Wicked for five years.
Ive never been more ready to hit those notes, she said at the time.
Seyfried has previously displayed her range in a number of productions, notably playing Cosette in the film adaptation of Les Misrables opposite Anne Hathaway, and also in two Mamma Mia! movies.
[From People]
Apparently, Amanda really lovesWickedand wanted a role in it for five years. She was very immersed in the Elizabeth Holmes character during their filming during the week, and it must have been difficult to do auditions for another character on the weekends. I wonder how many auditions she had to do for the Glinda role. Its nice that Amanda is looking on the bright side of not getting the role that all that auditioning showed how far she has come as a singer since Les Mix and she feels prepared for her next musical, whatever that may be. I didnt follow the casting news closely, but heard Ariana had gotten the role and assumed it was one of those scenarios where it was always sort of planned for Ariana to be Glinda. I can imagine Amanda was crushed that someone else got the role she wanted so badly, but now she has her Emmy nom to console her. Also, who would have thought fromMean GirlsAmanda would be the one of the four to have the most interesting and varied career?

Amanda Seyfried is promoting her movie, A Mouthful of Air. The movie was written by Amy Koppelman based on her novel with the same name . It?s about Julia, a new mom dealing with postpartum depression. The film pulls no punches about how dark PPD can get. You can read Variety?s spoiler-filled review to see what I mean. I haven?t seen the film but going off the review, it sounds like they really did do their best to stay faithful to the experience of PPD. Without trying to give anything away, too often films show any kind of depression, including PPD, ?cured? by a traumatic event. That is not the case, and it sounds like this movie addresses that. While discussing the film on Late Night with Seth Meyers, Amanda talked about her hope that this movie will get a discussion of PPD going. She wants women to know that there?s help out there. But she also wants there to be more help because there?s not enough.
[A Mouthful of Air] reflects how we talk about mental health in general and also how we treat mothers in the healthcare system. As soon as you have a baby you go home and that?s it. There?s no fourth trimester check ins, there?s no ?Hey, are you feeling OK?? If you?re a single mother, you?re made to feel like you have to do it alone, which is crazy.
It used to be a tribe thing. Luckily for me we do have that. My mom lives with us and I can pass the baby off with her when I?m working. But it?s so traumatic to deliver a baby even when you?re not suffering from depression, anxiety or mental illness to begin with.
Every mother I?ve ever spoken to is terrified of the night times. You put your baby to sleep and then you?re just hoping that they don?t die in the middle of the night. It?s grim, but it?s the reality of motherhood and having a small child.
It?s really hard and we don?t talk about it enough and I hope this movie generates that conversation. I hope people understand that there is a lot of help out there and that we need more of it also. We can?t be forgotten as women, especially leaving the hospital, getting those $20,000 bills, even after insurance, and no help. Lactation consultants are not free and psychological help is not affordable.
[From Seth Meyers on YouTube]
Amanda is correct that having a baby is traumatic even if you don?t have depression. There does need to be more support out there for all mothers, not just new moms, post birth. Because every baby and postpartum experience is different. A woman?s first birth could be very different from her second, or her third could be unlike the first two. If you add money to the equation, the exorbitant cost of healthcare and mental healthcare bills, it can be too much.
Like Amanda, I hope this movie gets a conversation going. I hope professionals get involved, obviously, but I hope mothers feel comfortable enough to speak up. Because the truth is, if someone did check in during that time, we?re still conditioned to say ?everything?s wonderful. I just love this baby and being a mom.? I hope women find a forum that they can truly speak freely about their feelings and the dark thoughts theyre having. Just hearing another person say, ?I thought that too,? keeps a terrified new mom from thinking she?s a monster.

For me, Amanda Seyfried?s Armani gown might be a victim of the dreaded post-Oscar hangover. On the carpet last night, I was convinced that it was a great look, one of the best looks of the night. In the cold light of Monday morning, I?m not so sure? It was a big look and it was sure? red. She seemed very happy with it and her styling was impeccable. But the dress itself? I don?t know, maybe it isn?t so great after all. I think we?re all just starved for drama and big fashion moments. There?s just so much tulle!!
Tyler Perry also wore Armani to the Oscars, where he picked up his Jean Hersholt Humanitarian Award. I?ll admit that I zoned out during his speech because I was thinking about how he helped the Duke and Duchess of Sussex last year, how he provided them with security when Prince Charles yanked their royal protection, and how he let Harry, Meghan and Archie stay at his LA home. While it is without a doubt that Tyler is incredibly deserving of the Jean Hersholt Humanitarian Award, people had some issues with his ?let?s meet in the middle? speech. I get it. But whatever, he still employs hundreds/thousands of Black creators and Black talent. He?s not a politician. I don?t think he?s trying to be, either.

Amanda Seyfried is doing her last minute Oscar push before the ceremony next weekend. She?s still Zooming out of her barn in upstate New York but I assume she?s getting ready to fly out to LA since the Academy is insisting theyre too fancy to have people show up virtually. Since attendance is so limited, I hope its just going to be Amanda and her husband Thomas Sadoski making the trip and she leaves her kids at home with her mom, who is their nanny. The reason I hope Amanda leaves the kids at home is so she can get a good nights sleep, the poor dear. Amanda has two kids, her daughter, Nina, who is four, and her son, Thomas, who is six months old. While on the Late Show with Stephen Colbert, Amanda told Stephen that she hasn?t slept in two months because she?s trained him to need a warm body to fall asleep on.
On being nominated for an Oscar
It?s the second highest award in the land to be nominated, I don?t care if I win. The nomination is enough. I mean it until I get there.
How she prepared for the role
I read Citizen Kane the script. I watched Marion Davies?s [films]. The Philadelphia Story is still my favorite black and white movie. Laurel and Hardy. I didn?t want to imitate anybody and I wanted to feel grounded. I got to do the New York accent.
On if she was prepared for her second child
I didn?t read up on anything. I?m just going with the flow. I haven?t slept for two months.
[When he gets tired] I put him on my chest and I let him fall asleep with the warmth of my body. He cannot fall asleep unless there is a warm body. I have trained him to do the opposite of what I trained my daughter to do. I have failed.
I?m scared that when I put him in his crib after he?s asleep that something bad is going to happen. I?m still in that phase. I hate it. Remind me to never have another baby.
On if she agrees with Cher that they should do another Mama Mia
Definitely. If it was up to me there would be eight Mama Mias.
[From The Late Show on YouTube]
I was both excited and confused when Amanda talked about The Philadelphia Story. TPS is my favorite comedy of all time, I can?t tell you how many times I?ve seen it. However Marion Davies isn?t in it. Mank wrote it so I guess that was Amanda?s reference for her prep. But how she strung her answer together tripped me up until I realized, she?s talking like a mother of a six-month-old who hasn?t had any sleep. Boy, I remember those sleepless months. They were awful, I don?t care how many rose-colored baby memories I paint them with. I kind of remember that crib fear, too. All the baby books and classes train you for the worst-case scenario and those blended with sleep deprivation just add up to crazy making. I?m sure her anxiety and OCD are helping to compound the problem as well. I hope a little distance will help her relax. It?s funny, though. Amanda talked about the baby needing to fall asleep on a warm body and my first thought was ? let him sleep on Finn! But Finn probably has stuff to do, I realize.
The discussion on Mama Mia was great. Amanda said ?the story has to be there, of course? and Stephen just shut her down, saying everyone is just there for the music. He said the movies are just ?a champagne party and then people show up and sing your favorite songs.? That should absolutely be the tag line for the next film. They go on to suggest future casting and Amanda suggests Hugh Jackman and now all I can think about is: how the hell has Hugh Jackman not been cast in Mama Mia yet?

| Amanda Seyfried: 'My mom lives with us and is the third parent for us' | Added 4 years ago | Source: CeleBitchy |

Amanda Seyfried lives on a farm in upstate New York with her husband of three years, Thomas Sadoski, and their three-year-old daughter, whose name they have not revealed. (You can google it, but I think it was only published once by People and deleted, so I?m not going to post it.) Amanda is not talking out of both sides of her mouth when it comes to her daughter. She?ll post a photo of her daughter with her face hidden, but she?s not like Kristen Bell and Dax Shepard telling embarrassing stories about her while asking for privacy. She?s not cashing in on her mom image either. I appreciate that about her.
Amanda did an interview with John Molner, Katie Couric?s husband, on his Molner?s Table show. She said that her mom lives with her family and is her nanny. She was so grateful-sounding about that. Plus she very plainly trashed Trump without using his name and I?m always here for that. Here?s some of what she said and you can see the video below:
?Any role you turned down and regret it??
Do I regret it? Maybe I don?t regret it but my agents sure do. Guardians of the Galaxy.
On her farm and daily routine
I live upstate [in New York] on a farm, it?s what I always wanted. I put roots down in 2014 here and now, with this pandemic, we?ve been able to just stay.
I usually get up around 8:30 to feed the animals. My mom lives with us, she?s our nanny. My life is awesome because she is the third parent for us. I am so lucky, I know I am. So when my daughter gets up she either comes in our room or she goes downstairs. If we?re still sleeping it?s great because she can hang out with my mom, she wakes up early.
Our family is still together [in] the pandemic. I definitely think my marriage is even stronger. This is hard for people.
?We messed this whole thing up [the pandemic]?
We? I?ve decided that I?m no longer a we. This isn?t on me. This is not on you. This is a ?them.? I do think they are allowing people to perish for the sake of the election and that?s a fact.
?Katie [Couric] hosted this reunion of Parent Trap. She had Lindsay Lohan. Has there been a Mean Girls reunion??
No, I don?t know why. There?s no time like the present. That would be really fun to do. Lacey [Chabert] and I keep in touch. Lacey was really my first close friend in Hollywood. And Danny [Franzese] and Jonathan [Bennett]. It would be really nice we could [do that].
[From Molner's Table via People]
Amanda?s comments about her mom remind me of Elizabeth Warren?s speech for the DNC this year. She explained how, as a young mom, she thought she would have to give up her job as a teacher because she couldn?t take care of her babies and work. Her aunt Bee moved in and stayed for 16 years! In another segment at this year?s DNC a Texas firefighter was part of a panel of working people talking to Joe Biden about the American dream. (Thats at 1:10 into Day 4.) He was a single dad and said something similar, that his retired parents were helping him raise his daughter and that he wouldn?t be able to work without their help. That?s how we used to raise kids, with inter-generational help, but things have changed and the childcare crisis has been made so much worse by the pandemic.
Also I completely agree with her about this administration deliberately killing people, but you already knew that.
Her mom looks young!

| Amanda Seyfried: 'It really is hard for me to lie in my life' | Added 4 years ago | Source: CeleBitchy |

Amanda Seyfried and Kevin Bacon star in the VOD Blumhouse film You Should have Left, which is about a couple who rents a house in Wales which is toying with them. The trailer looks good and gave me goosebumps. The reviews Ive read have not been good, which is too bad because I love horror and would have considered renting this. (Even with those reviews I would have seen in a theater pre-covid if my friends wanted to go. I have seen some sh-tty horror movies.)
Amanda and Kevin have a new interview with Cinemablend. Amanda kept scratching her shoulder, which was cute. I like how relaxed celebrities are at home. Interviewer Eric Eisenberg brought up the line that actors are professional liars, Amandas character is an actress and a duplicitous person, and she said she has a hard time lying and just tries to find the truth in her characters. Im also including some quotes she gave Entertainment Tonight about her daughter, 3. I was able to google her daughters name but she tries to keep it private.
On being a professional liar as an actress
I, as an actor, try to find the truth in everything. Im not lying Im just trying to find the most truthful part in anything. In my opinion I think its hard for me to lie. It really is hard for me to lie in my life. The fact that shes so blase about it, shes clearly one person to him and one person to this other guy. Thats scary and I cant wrap my head around it. I think its more interesting to play people that I dont really understand.
On sharing stories about her daughter but protecting her identity
I dont share her face or anything [online]; Ill let her choose when she wants to do that later on in life. But I cant help but share these insane conversations that [I'm] having with this 3-year-old. I mean, theyre so in touch sometimes its scary, but its also super funny. I love it, and if I can share any of that, I will.
She knows how badly I want to sing, and she will not let me. Shes smart. I gotta think of a way to [negotiate] because Im a singer, and if she starts walking out of the room when I start singing, Im going to get, like, an even bigger complex than I already have.
[From Cinemablend and ET Online]
I also have a hard time lying and am terrible at it. I have been playing Zoom murder mystery games about every other weekend during lockdown. Everyone plays a character, you get your role ahead of time, and its so much fun. They assigned me as the murderer once. I thought I did okay but so many people guessed it was me! (Also I know people are going to bring up Amandas history with her husband. Shes claimed that they didnt get together until they were both single.)
As for the way Amanda selectively shares about her daughter while trying to shield her privacy, thats understandable and I think shes doing alright. The stories Amanda has told about her daughter so far are not stigmatizing at all. Shes not like Kristen Bell airing all her familys dirty laundry and then asking for privacy at the same time.
Heres the interview with Cinemablend.

Notice that there are no quotes in the title above, because it’s not an exact quote from Amanda Seyfried, it’s a paraphrase of a much longer quote she tweeted, which is below and followed by a quote from Maureen Shaw, a reproductive and feminist rights activist. (I had to look her up but I am probably behind the times.) Anyway Amanda and her new husband, Thomas Sadoski, had their first child together, a baby girl, at the end of March. We still don’t know the baby’s name and we haven’t seen a photo of her. I suspect that Amanda and Thomas are going to be similar to Anna Paquin and Stephen Moyer in that they won’t let us know their baby’s name (it was twins for Anna and Stephen) for some time and won’t share photos, which is absolutely their right. I don’t think they’ll go all Kristen Bell and Dax Shepard about it either, I think they’ll just keep it under wraps and not make a big deal about it.
Getting back to the subject of this post, Amanda tweeted about moms being judged for nursing and being judged for formula feeding. Then she tweeted that quote from Shaw about how boobs are for feeding babies (right on), which makes me think that someone gave her the stink eye or said something to her when she was breastfeeding her infant in public. Here are her tweets.
Breastfeeding is awesome. Formula is awesome. Feeding your baby is awesome. Not awesome? Judgement.
