Last night George Clooney, 47 declared he has wanted to be adopted according to People!
"I always wanted to be adopted, but I couldn't find anyone," said the star, speaking at a Newseum event in Washington, D.C., with his father, former Ohio news anchor Nick Clooney, and veteran journalist Bill Small on either side of him.
"Will you adopt me?" George said to Small. "I'm very wealthy. I'll take care of you."

What was the pep talk? Something about shaving his dirt lip, perchance, or maybe an attempt to stop himself from pontificating on the darkness of his wang? Oh, no, of course not. Mayer filmed himself mocking Brad Pitt who, as everyone knows, is the ex-husband of Mayer?s current girlfriend, Jennifer Aniston.
The video included several veiled and not-so-veiled references to Pitt and the film The Curious Case of Benjamin Button. The whole thing kind of makes me sick. Who does this? What boyfriend does this to his girlfriend?s ex? In public? It?s just gross. And bad public relations to boot.
John Mayer has taken an underhand dig at Jennifer Aniston’s ex-husband Brad Pitt in his best attempts to be humorous.
The singer - whose relationship with Jen seems to be on shaky ground after reports of a New Year blowout in Mexico - has recorded a ‘motivational pep talk’ video by himself - to himself.
In the video, which appears on TMZ, John reflects on his best personal traits and mocks Brad’s Oscar nominated film The Curious Case of Benjamin Button.
John says, “Hi John it’s John and this is power tape number 9: Potentialising your dreams.?
“Your a man of strength, charisma, girth, honour, girth…and influence.?
“You know like that guy in the movie the Curious Case of Benjamin Brat, Benjamin Brat, the older you get, the younger you get and right before you die a little tiny man baby you’re gonna discover the ability to time travel into volcanoes.?

Have you heard the rumor that Meryl Streep is going to be stunt-cast on ?30 Rock?? Lots of sources are saying it?s for sure, but all I can find out is that Alec Baldwin and Meryl Streep were talking after their SAG wins on Sunday, and that Baldwin talked Meryl into promising she would guest-star. According to A Socialite’s Life, ?Alec supposedly cornered Meryl after her Best Actress SAG award win and sweet-talked her into a role when she was high on life.? Doesn?t mean it?s going to happen, but I hope it does. Meryl would be wonderful on ?30 Rock? - I wish she would do more comedy, she has a gift for it.
But Meryl isn?t through with award season yet! She just won another Best Actress trophy, this time by AARP?s The Magazine. AARP also honored Frank Langella and Gus Van Sant.

Based on the post-Watergate television interviews between British journalist David Frost and former U.S. president Richard Nixon, director Ron Howard?s screen adaptation of Peter Morgan?s play “Frost/Nixon” was selected by the editors of AARP The Magazine, a publication that describes itself as the “definitive voice” for Americans over the age of 50 and the “world’s largest-circulation magazine” with more than 34 million readers.
AARP also bestowed its award for Best Grownup Love Story on Last Chance Harvey while its prize for Best Buddy Picture went to “The Family That Preys” and its Best Movie for Grownups Who Refuse to Grow Up honor went to “Iron Man.”
Frank Langella won the Best Actor 50 and Over title for his portrayal of Nixon in “Frost/Nixon;” Meryl Streep was named Best Actress 50 and Over for her performance as Sister Aloysius Beauvier in “Doubt;” and Gus Van Sant was honored as Best Director 50 and Over for filming “Milk.”
“It is clear that Hollywood is paying attention not only to the tastes of moviegoers age 50 (and over), but also to the enormous talent of filmmakers age 50-plus,” Nancy Graham, editor of AARP The Magazine, said in a statement. “From drama and history, to musicals and biopics, actors over 50 took center stage on the silver screen last year and we’re proud to recognize them for their hard work and creative achievements.”

Instead of going to a negative place and making a couple of light-hearted old-people jokes (I?m not, I swear), I?ll just congratulate the winners. They were recognized by their peers for the second time this week. First, their acting peers at the SAGs, now their same-aged peers at AARP. What I?ve always found ironic about the AARP’s The Magazine (and yes, I have read it), is that it seems like a celebration of people doing everything but retiring. Perhaps an organizational name change is in order.

Lindsay’s rep says people should stop worrying and added, “Lindsay is aware that she’s lost some weight due to stress, but we recently did a photo shoot and she ate two full meals.”
Whew. Crisis averted. Two full meals. That’s like a salad and sandwich. In Hollywood terms, this makes Lindsay a fatass so consider this rumor squashed.

British tabloids are reporting that action heroine Lara Croft is about to get her third film. The first two Lara Croft films starred Angelina Jolie, but Jolie is reportedly not being considered for the latest installment. Instead, producers are looking at Jolie-look-alike Megan Fox. Even though it?s not being reported, I remember Angelina saying several years ago that she had no interest in returning to the Lara Croft character, though I can’t find the quote now. Instead, the tabloids are making it sound as if Angelina 1.0 is being replaced against her will by Angelina 2.0. UK?s Metro has more details.
Megan Fox is being considered to take over the Tomb Raider franchise from Angelina Jolie, according to new rumours. Insiders have claimed that the stunning brunette is a “strong candidate? for the role of the sexy action heroine.
The two Tomb Raider films were panned but both were solid moneymakers, which could explain why Paramount are keen to make a third one. Jolie played an English archaeologist in search of ancient treasures - kind of like a female Indiana Jones.
The first film Lara Croft: Tomb Raider debuted at number one with $48.2 million in 2001 and is the most successful video game adaptation to date, grossing $300 million worldwide.
The sequel Lara Croft Tomb Raider: The Cradle of Life didn’t fare as well but made a decent profit internationally. Jolie was awarded a Golden Raspberry Award for Worst Actress for her performance in the films and critics queued up to savage her acting.
Brian Mckay from eFilmCritic.com said: “Like her gaming counterpart, she’s all pretty eye candy without much of a soul or even an interesting personality.”
There’s been no official word yet from the studio on the possibility of another film based on the video popular game series.
Fox, 22, has already proved her action credentials in the live-action adaptation of Transformers. She will also be appearing in the sequel, which is released in the UK on June 26.

I?ll probably get in trouble with film aficionados, but I really enjoyed both Tomb Raider films. They?re fun, silly and the action sequences are half-decent. Plus, it?s always a bonus when a woman is helming the multi-million dollar action film, rather than some grunting man with a sidekick damsel in distress who just runs around, begging to be rescued. La Jolie pulled off her task as Lara Croft with aplomb, but I doubt Megan Fox will be able to do the same. She just doesn?t have Angelina?s… well, anything. Fox is pretty enough, but we?ve already seen the original.

Last week, we covered the new documentary about Vogue?s Anna Wintour, premiering at Sundance, called The September Issue. As more people see the film, funny parts of the true story of putting together Vogue?s biggest issue, the September issue, come out. The documentary was filmed in 2007, and the September cover girl was Sienna Miller, pre-Balthazar Getty, aka when she was hot stuff, and people still wanted to work with her.
According to reports, the documentary features scenes where Anna Wintour and her staff repeatedly complaining about how ?toothy? Sienna Miller is. So ?toothy? they have to retouch her smile. Tabloid reports are making this into some kind of scandal, but I just don?t see any ?there? there. It?s not exactly breaking news that women get epically retouched on or in magazines. But here?s the dirt, from the Telegraph:
The revelation was contained in a fly-on-the-wall documentary about the magazine, The September Issue, which was screened for the first time at the Sundance Film Festival.
The documentary, put together by veteran producer and director RJ Cutler, lifts the curtain on Vogue’s production process for the most important issue of the year.
In it, staff are seen despairing over the state of their cover star in pictures taken by the world-renowned Italian photographer Mario Testino.
Wintour, 58, who is said to have been the inspiration for the boss from hell in The Devil Wears Prada, memorably played on screen by Meryl Streep, is shown complaining about her being “toothy” while other staff are concerned by the number of fillings she has.
At the last minute, staff are reduced to superimposing one picture of her face onto another of her body. One viewer who watched the documentary told arts news website The List: “It must be awful for Sienna to see. Anna keeps complaining she is too ‘toothy’ and the other staff are worried she has too many fillings. The editors hint at Sienna to cut her hair and she ignores them, which worried them even more.
“It was funny, but probably not for her.”
However, Vogue’s head of publicity insisted the retouching was not personal. Head of communications Patrick O’Connell told the Daily Mirror: “While some retouching is a fact for any cover, no one is more convinced of Ms Miller’s beauty than Vogue. The fact she appeared on the magazine’s September cover, our most important issue of the year, is a testimony to this truth.”
Miss Miller’s US publicist Leslie Sloan told the paper: “Sienna Miller is the first person to admit that her photos are always retouched ? no one is ever that perfect.”

What?s funny is that I remember this Vogue cover, I might even still have it somewhere. Sienna?s smile isn?t the problem, it?s her little rooster-tail hairstyle that sucks. For some reason, Vogue stylists thought it would be fashionable to pull Sienna?s hair into an extremely high ponytail - I just didn?t get it.
Reports are flying back and forth that Sienna is coming to New York to do a play, but it?s still up in the air. One thing is for sure, she won?t be getting another Vogue cover any time soon.

As we reported yesterday, Brangelina headed out to promote their films in Japan the morning after the SAG Awards on Sunday. And of course, Brangelina always travels as a brood. As it turns out, seven-month-old twins Knox Leon and Vivienne Marcheline were photographed as Brangelina arrived in Japan.
Is it weird that both Knox and Vivienne look just like Shiloh around that age? Methinks the open-mouthed Pitt genes dominate over the Jolie-goth genes. Vivenne is in Angelina?s arms and she?s wearing what looks to be a cute, fluffy, white onesy. I can barely see Knox, because Brad put a jaunty hat on him.

An insider tells Page Six that Jennifer chatted up the producer, Meryl Poster, at Nobu last Friday where they discussed roles. Lopez’s rep denied the rumors saying, “She loves the play but is not Broadway bound.”
Another source claimed a movie version is more realistic because Broadway shows are exhausting and time consuming. Sounds about right. Jennifer hates things that are exhausting and time consuming. Things like working out, performing on stage and walking. Can’t stand them. You know her ass? It’s not big because of genetics, it’s big because she likes to sit on it all day. Jennifer’s so lazy that for the past six years, she’s been begging her publicist to let do press in one of those motorized wheelchairs.

Madonna was looking curiously her age despite the plastic surgery and predictable attention-getting attire in a recent photo spread. In some shots the 50 year-old pop star is seen posing in white string underwear with white pantyhose and a surgical-type bandage wrapped tightly around her top. In others she’s wearing a nude-colored corset, her face close to the camera, lined and unairbrushed. She’s still very pretty despite her personality and the all work she’s had done, but she’s human and is not perfect-looking or completely smoothed over, which is said to have royally pissed off her madgesty. While some people were giving Madonna credit for allowing raw close up photos to be released, that of course wasn’t the case. Those photos were leaked before the Photoshop artists did their magic.
Madonna is also said to have enjoyed a recent getaway with Alex Rodriguez, with whom she was thought to have split up with. She was recently linked with a much younger Brazilian model, but that seemed like a publicity stunt on the model’s part. Whether or not the guy was actually doing the deed with Madonna was something I prefer not to think about:

Colin denied the rumors that he was with Salma while they were working on Ask The Dust, but he did admit to doing a sexy little naked dance for her on set to help her feel more comfortable before a love scene. He admitted he didn’t have to be naked, and said that since she had to strip down, he was doing it out of solidarity. Colin also gave Salma a rare first edition of the novel the film was based on as a gift after their scenes wrapped.
Colin had just nabbed an unexpected best actor Globe the night he and Salma were supposedly spotted kissing backstage. This news is in Star Magazine, and if it did happen he could have just been overwhelmed and sharing his joy with a (sexy) former co-star. You could tell how emotional he was in his cute flowery speech - he even told the director he loved him.
Salma is rumored to be back with her ex fiance and the father of her baby, billionaire Franois-Henri Pinault. That could have to do with the fact that they’ve maintained a friendly relationship for the sake of their daughter, Valentina Paloma, 16 months, but it sounds like more than that. Salma and Franois-Henri were spotted out at Tao restaurant in New York recently, with the latest issue of US reporting that they shared “three bottles of wine and sake” after which Salma was spotted dancing on her table. On an appearance on The Late Show two weeks ago, Salma was pretty vague about potential wedding plans when Letterman pressed her about it. He asked “Is there going to be a wedding?” and Salma responded “I don?t know, maybe, but then again, maybe not.”
Colin was last known to be dating British novelist Emma Forrest, but he keeps his personal life quiet and it’s hard to tell if they’re still together. I would love to see Colin settle down and have more kids, but it’s doubtful that he’ll be blending his family with Salma’s any time soon.

Kevin Federline is rumored to be the latest pseudo celebrity clamoring for a spot on Dancing with the Stars. This story originates with Star Magazine, and there’s always the possibility that it’s wishful thinking on their part, but it could be true:
According to a friend, [Dancing with the Stars has struck up talks with Britney's ex to appear on their next season in March, and Kevin, 30, is interested. "Kevin would do it for the exposure," one pal tells Star. "His career isn't exactly where he wants it to be."

Federline is rumored to be pitching a reality show that will follow him on tour with ex wife Britney Spears. This is thought to be angering Britney, who may feel like she has no choice but to let him go ahead with the show if she wants to see their boys while she’s traveling. It makes sense that Federline would be interested in DWTS, but whether this rumor is true or not remains to be seen.
Another potential contestant on the upcoming season the show is Donny Osmond. His sister Marie was on the fifth season of DWTS in the fall of 2007 and finished third. Donny has confirmed that he’s “seriously considering,” a stint on the show. Maybe he’ll have some competition in the form of Federline. Although he’s hardly remembered for it, K-Fed used to work as a professional backup dancer and presumably has some coordination and moves to bring to the table. He has gained some “daddy weight,” as his ex Shar Jackson explained, but he would quickly lose it training for the show.

Last September, Matt Damon caused some controversy with statements in an AP interview in which he called Vice Presidential Republican candidate Sarah Palin “absurd? like a bad Disney movie.” Many people thought that Damon was being disrespectful at the time, although after Palin’s interviews with Katie Couric and Brian Williams came out there were more that agreed with him.
Damon, 38, gave an interview to his local newspaper the Miami Herald in which he typically strongly asserted his opinion on several topics. Damon is the star of the successful Bourne franchise, and had some choice words for his competition, James Bond:
”They could never make a James Bond movie like any of the Bourne films,” Damon says scornfully. “Because Bond is an imperialist, misogynist sociopath who goes around bedding women and swilling martinis and killing people. He’s repulsive.
“Steve [Soderbergh, who produced yet another of Damon's spy movies, Syriana] told me that years ago he was offered a Bond movie. He told them he’d do it if they gave him creative control. Absolutely not, they said. They have a formula, they stick to it, and it makes them a lot of money. They know what they’re doing, and they’re going to keep doing it.”

I never really thought of the differences between Bond and Bourne because they’re both high-energy entertaining action movies to me. Bourne does have more of a connection to the deaths, though, and I remember Clive Owen’s character’s death in the first film as feeling particularly human and a little sad. There’s usually some emotion and meaning attached to deaths in the Bourne films and they’re not as slick or glossed over as the Bond series. In that respect you can see how Bond could be considered a sociopath. Bond is an old franchise and in a way is still stuck in old ways of thinking despite their successful efforts to revive it. Bourne doesn’t seem to kill without reason and he had a steady girlfriend for the first two films. To many movie-goers, these films are violent action movies and you don’t really consider the morality of the protagonists, you just root for Bond and Bourne while they do what they have to do.
In that same interview, Damon also called conservative NY Times columnist William Kristol an “idiot” and seemed to say that torture was warranted when civilian lives are at stake:
Instead, the small talk — if that’s the right phrase — ranged from which New York Times columnist is the worst (conservative William Kristol, according to Damon: ”He’s an idiot — he wrote that we should be grateful to George Bush because he won the Iraq war. We! Won! The! War!”) to the proper place of torture in American foreign policy.
”Look, the best line about torture I’ve heard came from [retired CIA officer turned war-on-terrorism critic] Milt Beardon,” Damon says. “He said, `If a guy knows where a dirty bomb is hidden that’s going to go off in a Marriott, put me in a room with him and I’ll find out. But don’t codify that. Just let me break the law.’
“Which I think is right. You can’t legalize torture. But anybody would do it in that situation. You’d do it to me in that situation; you’d pull out my fingernails if you thought I knew something like that.”

Damon might want to temper his arguments if he doesn’t want to alienate people, but he doesn’t seem to particularly care. If this is how the guy is talking at 38, he’s sure going to be a cantankerous old dude.
Damon also told a story about how he tried to score tickets to the inauguration after campaigning for Barack Obama and was informed that bleacher seats would run him $25,000 a piece. This is similar to something Scarlett Johansson said on The Tonight Show about how she would probably have to donate $50k if she wanted to attend the inauguration.

You can’t deny that George Clooney adores - nay, worships - his father. Nick Clooney is a former Ohio television journalist and current TCM host/film archivist/activist. Nick is part of the Reel Journalism program, which aims to expose students and regular people to the myriad ways journalism and journalists are shown on film. Of course, George Clooney?s Good Night and Good Luck was an obvious choice, and George joined his father on the stage to introduce the film.
As People reports, the two engaged in some witty banter, some of which is lost on me. George keeps on making jokes about how he?s looking for a new daddy. At least, I think that?s the gist of it. You decide:
George Clooney has made an offer few can refuse: He has placed himself up for adoption.
“I always wanted to be adopted, but I couldn’t find anyone,” said the star, speaking at a Newseum event in Washington, D.C., with his father, former Ohio news anchor Nick Clooney, and veteran journalist Bill Small on either side of him.
“Will you adopt me?” George said to Small. “I’m very wealthy. I’ll take care of you.”
Talk of adoption started after Nick Clooney’s observation that his son’s 2005 film, Good Night, and Good Luck, about iconic CBS newsman Edward R. Murrow, is now being shown in journalism schools across the country.
“This film has legs,” said the elder Clooney, who then asked his son for his opinion.
“I don’t care for that,” said the jocular George ? prompting Nick to respond: “I never cared for this kid ? his sister’s great.”
Walking off stage before the screening of Good Night, and Good Luck ? as part of his father’s Reel Journalism film program ? Clooney, 47, then quipped that his father, 75, was an old man who needed a walker.
“You aren’t my walker,” Nick Clooney shot back. “But you are my retirement plan.”

After the movie, the Regis and Kelly-like banter continued. When George said that they made the movie for $6.5 million, his dad asked where the money goes. “Right to me,” George said. “We shoot for $500,000, then I take $6 million …”
Nick Clooney then asked where that money goes. “To my new dad,” George said. But Small turned down George’s invitation. “I was hoping [billionaire entrepreneur] Mark Cuban would make an offer,” Small said.
Looking stunned, George said, “Wow. I got a dump like that.”

What?s that again? Is that last one an insult to Mark Cuban or to his father? I couldn?t tell. But this sounds like a really good program, there are lots of great films associated with journalism and journalists, and Good Night and Good Luck is one of them. However, whenever I hear the title, I always think of Jon Stewart?s joke about it at the Oscars: ?Good Night and Good Luck isn?t just a movie, it?s how George Clooney ends every date.?

On December 7th, David Beckham and an unnamed bodyguard got into an altercation with a paparazzo. Da Mata, the photographer, was following Posh and Becks in a car before Beckham and his bodyguard harassed Da Mata, throwing his camera into a trashcan and beating him up.
Per the suit, [the bodyguard's] “oppressive and despicable” actions included grabbing the plaintiff’s camera and throwing it in a trash can, and then “violently” beating him when he got out of his car to retrieve it.
An eyewitness told E! News at the time that Da Mata had been trailing Beckham and wife Victoria when the Brit got out of his car and approached the paparazzo’s vehicle, enticing him to come out. Per our source, when Da Mata refused to budge, Beckham’s muscle went around to the passenger side and started throwing punches.
“They just can’t do this,” Da Mata said. “They put me on the floor, they got my camera, and they threw it in the trash can. They can’t do this to us.”
A police report was taken at the scene, but no criminal charges were ever filed in the incident.
Da Mata is claiming assault and battery, negligence, negligent and intentional infliction of emotional distress and conversion. He is seeking unspecified damages.

It’s never fun getting beaten up by a professionally trained bodyguard, but we don’t have the full story here. How close was Da Mata “trailing” the Beckhams? Had he been trying to cut them off? Was he following at an unsafe speed? It can get irritating when celebrities complain incessantly about the paparazzi, and most stars who throw fits in front of the cameras are laughed at rather than pitied. But there’s a difference between getting a good photograph and putting a celebrity in danger for the perfect shot. Still, that doesn’t mean that it’s up to the star to take the law into their own hands.
It may turn out that David was just in an irritable mood that day and the bodyguard was just following his boss’ lead, but we won’t know until it goes to court - if the Beckhams don’t settle out of court. They’ve certainly got a lot in the bank after those joint Armani ads.

While Sugar Shane Mosely fought Antonio Margarito at the Staples Center for the welterweight belt and Fedor Emelianenko fought Andre Alrovski at the Honda Center for the WAMMA heavyweight belt, former MLB star, Jose Canseco, fought perennial D-lister Danny Bonaduce on the other side of the country in Pennsylvania for irrelevancy (not a belt).
The fight, which saw the 6?4” Canseco landing only one single effective strike to the 5?6” Bonaduce, a strong jab, ended in a draw after three one minute rounds.
Reports indicated that fans began leaving the arena before a decision was even announced. Most likely disappointed that the chance of these two pummeling each other into obscurity was nearing zero.

Nothing makes me happier than celebs who are doing so well they?re able to jet off to the Bahamas at a moment?s notice. And by ?happier? I mean ?seethe with envy.? Seriously, it is in the low 20s in New York once you factor in the wind chill. Yesterday I actually thought it felt warm when it hit 27 degrees. I would give just about anything to lay on a warm beach. Even just a temperate beach. I would be amenable to anything above 48 degrees at this point. Oh, and it would help if I looked like Hilary Duff in a bikini.
Hilary and boyfriend Mike Comrie have been enjoying the Bahamas, which means she?s also partaking in the cherished celebrity tradition of frolicking about in her bikini.
Hilary Duff and her boyfriend, New York Islander Mike Comrie, enjoyed a getaway to the Bahamas this past weekend. Duff, 21, and Comrie, 28, who have been together since 2007, spent some time by the pool and laughed and canoodled their way around their island paradise.
Duff’s earned the right to taking it easy for now; she’s had a lot on her plate lately, with much more coming up. Hilary’s ready to return to TV, starting with a guest shot on CBS’ The Ghost Whisperer. EW reports that Duff will play a “mysterious young woman” who may be involved in a man’s death. The reason for the guest spot? Duff and Ghost Whisperer Jennifer Love Hewitt are best pals! Hopefully Hilary can console Jennifer during the grief from her broken engagement.
