| Mandy Moore on her marriage to Ryan Adams: 'I was living my life for him' | Added 5 years ago | Source: CeleBitchy |

Last week, the New York Times did an in-depth story about Ryan Adams? history of sexual harassment, creepy sexual manipulation, and emotional/psychological abuse of women in his orbit. Ryan?s ex-wife Mandy Moore was interviewed by the Times, and it seemed cathartic on her part, to finally come clean about her years with Ryan and how awful he was to her. This feels like an extension of the conversations we?ve had about #MeToo there are conversations about sexual assault and rape and harassment, but there are also stories of intimate-partner abuse that don?t leave physical scars. Women need to be able to tell those stories too. Mandy sat down with Marc Maron?s WTF podcast and she spoke with more depth about what her marriage was like, and how she basically had to give up everything to ?take care? of Ryan. That?s a pretty classic manipulation.
On her marriage: ?I was living my life for him? being the mother? It?s an entirely unhealthy dynamic,? More said with a sigh. ?I had no sense of self? I was so small.?
When she knew it wasn?t working: Moore said she knew the marriage was not working when she felt she was ?drowning?.It was so untenable and unsustainable and it was so lonely. I was so sad. I was so lonely with him. I knew this was not the person I was meant to be with.?
Putting her career on hold for his needs: She explained she knew their marriage couldn?t ?sustain itself? if she focused on work full time. ?I would do little jobs ? it?s not like I completely stopped working,? Moore said. ?But it would become abundantly clear while I was working, things would completely fall apart at home. I couldn?t do my job because there was a constant stream of trying to pay attention to this person who needed me and wouldn?t let me do anything else.?
Post-divorce: ?Six months later, I got This Is Us.?
[From People]
She spent six years that way, taking care of him, mothering him, putting her wants and needs and career on hold to satisfy him. So many women are taught to do that, we?re taught that marriages should function that way, that it?s not about our needs, it?s about HIS needs and we?re there to serve him. That?s even doubly so when the man is perceived as some kind of genius, or some kind of ?name.? That?s part of the manipulation too: I?m the only one who can soothe and take care of this difficult, struggling genius, and his work is a reflection on how well I take care of him.

| Kate Walsh got a hip replacement seven months ago & now does ballet workouts | Added 5 years ago | Source: CeleBitchy |

Kate Walsh, 51, has a sponcon type post with US Magazine with a demonstration video from a studio called Ballet Beautiful. It looks like classic ballet moves at a bar and like a great workout. It reminds me of pilates, which uses similar moves, and which I did a whole ten minutes of last night. I know I do too much cardio, Ive talked about it here (hey kitten) and am trying to do more strength training. I chase that exercise high and calorie burn. Kates story is reminding me to go easier on my body and to focus more on overall wellness. She had a hip replacement just seven months agos and loves ballet training for both recovery and the benefits shes seeing. Im sure shes getting paid too, but it sounds like she was a customer of the studio before she started endorsing it. Kates trainer talked about getting results without punishing your body and I really needed to hear that.
?My stylist recommended it,? [Kate Walsh] tells Us. ?It?s so Hollywood, but she?s like, ?If you want to keep that butt up, go to Ballet Beautiful.? And I was like, ?Got it, done.? It?s in my best interest.?
Walsh began going to the model-beloved studio, founded by professional dancer Mary Helen Bowers, a few months ago ? after she had hip replacement surgery. ?I had a hip replacement seven months ago and it?s amazing,? Walsh tells Us of how the NYC-based class helped her recovery. ?Just the movements in this workout particularly are so hip-opening, hip-centric.?
Bowers agrees. With her barre-based workout, she tells Us, ?you?re building strength without overtaxing the body. You don?t have to punish your body to have a great workout. Thats something people dont always understand [you don't have] to do crazy cardio to change the way the body is shaped.? With some adjustments, the low-impact routine is also a good pregnancy workout, both pre- and post-natal, says the pro.
[From US Magazine]
Im somewhat dreading getting stuff replaced when I get older (ok in a handful of years) but its likely inevitable. My mom had a knee replacement and I know people who have had hip replacements. As long as you do the rehab recovery is possible. Also, when you hear stories about people exercising and doing well just a few months after a joint replacement it makes you think it wont be that bad. Maybe if I do more strength training and less jumping around I can avoid needing things replaced, but that ship has probably sailed.
I forgot about this fug dress she wore to the Umbrella Academy premiere. I keep hearing about that series, its on Netflix now. I linked to these premiere photos on Go Fug Yourself, her sleeves are way bigger than they look from the side.

| Emily Blunt in Dolce & Gabbana at the Writer's Guild Awards: whimsical or goofy' | Added 5 years ago | Source: CeleBitchy |

The Writers Guild Awards were on Sunday, and we didnt cover it yesterday because were frankly tired of awards season. You can see the list of nominees and winners here. So many of my favorites won, which makes me happy. Best Original Screenplay was awarded to Eighth Grade, which I loved! Ooh and Sorry to Bother You won Best Adapted Screenplay, thats such a crazy good movie and you can watch it on Hulu. Other winners included Castle Rock, also on Hulu, for Original Long Form, and The Americans for Best Drama. Emily Blunt and John Krasinski were maybe the big gets at the show and they were nominated for Original Screenplay, for A Quiet Place. Emily won a SAG for Best Supporting Actress for that role, but she hasnt won anything for Mary Poppins Returns, nor was she nominated for an Oscar for MP, which makes me sad. (I am rooting for the song The Place Where The Lost Things Go to win best song at the Oscars, but I know thats a long shot. That song is way better than Shallow.
Anyway Emily wore this goofy Dolce & Gabbana jacquard suit featuring a cartoonish giant bow tie with ruffled ends that trail down the front. Apparently Emily and her stylist didnt get the memo that D&G is to be avoided, but more than that this just looks silly. Does the bow spin around and shoot water out of it? Also, her makeup is bad and she looks over it. I like to see her and John out together though, and I truly enjoyed A Quiet Place and am looking forward to the sequel. Check out Johns smart velvet blazer. Is it a little short for him or is that the look?
Heres Eighth Grades Elsie Fisher. Shes only 15! She looks so cute in a little gingham print suit with a Mickey Mouse t-shirt underneath it. Great boots too.
Sarah Silverman was in a peacoat, high lace up boots and knee high socks. I have socks like this and could achieve this look with some boots. This never occurred to me and I like it!
We also have photos of Ellie Kemper, Julianna Margulies and Rachel Bloom!

| Keira Knightley in Chanel at the London premiere of 'The Aftermath?: unflattering' | Added 5 years ago | Source: CeleBitchy |

Keira Knightley has been contractually obligated to wear Chanel for years now. She doesn?t have to wear Chanel on *every* red carpet, so sometimes she mixes it up with Valentino or? I can?t think of another label she?s worn? It?s usually Chanel. And usually, Chanel gives Keira some of their best stuff, cute little cocktail dresses or fabulous suits or intricate, vaguely twee gowns. This Chanel gown, at last night?s London premiere of The Aftermath, is such a hard pass for me. It?s kind of terrible on her, right? With that face and that slim, model-like figure, you really have to TRY to make Keira look thick-waisted and dull. Which is what this gown does.
Update: Oh god I wrote this up before I saw the reports of Karl Lagerfelds passing. He was brilliant and weird and crazy (but not always the best designer, see: this gown).
I?ve talked about how I want to see The Aftermath, even though it looks like the release date got pushed back to the February graveyard of film releases. Initially, I?m almost positive this was supposed to be a late entry to the end-of-year awards season extravaganza. They must have pushed it back after it tested poorly or something. The reviews of it aren?t great, despite the prestige names: Ridley Scott directed it, Keira stars alongside Alexander Skarsgard and Jason Clarke. It?s a WWII-era tragisexy romance. Here?s the trailer:
Weirdly, at the premiere, Alex looks like he dressed in character as a banker from the 1950s.

| 50 Cent just learned that a NYPD cop told officers to 'shoot him on sight' last year | Added 5 years ago | Source: CeleBitchy |
|
|
|
|
|
This is a really screwed up story about 50 cent, and I feel like it partially dovetails with some of the conversations we?ve had, as a society, about Jussie Smollett. Despite cries from the right-wing, no one needs to ?apologize? for believing someone who says they?re a victim, even if it eventually turns out that the ?victim? is lying. And despite cries from the right-wing, I still believe that we need to treat some or many police officers, detectives and entire police forces with a healthy amount of skepticism too. And this 50 cent situation is just one reason why we don?t have to believe that ALL cops are amazing people who only have the public safety in mind.
A Brooklyn precinct commander is being investigated by the NYPD for allegedly threatening the celebrity?s life ? telling his officers at a roll call to ?shoot him on sight,? the Daily News has learned. Deputy Inspector Emanuel Gonzalez, the commanding officer of the 72nd Precinct in Sunset Park, allegedly made the threat last June 7, when the actor and ?In Da Club? rapper was expected to attend an NYPD sanctioned boxing match in the Bronx.
During a roll call inside the 72nd Precinct stationhouse, Gonzalez told his officers if they saw 50 cent at the boxing match, known as a smoker, they should ?shoot him on sight,? a source with knowledge of the case said.
?The inspector just said that at roll call,? the source said. ?I?m like WTF.? No one recorded the incident, and Gonzalez tried to pass off the bizarre order as a joke. But the matter made its way to police headquarters, which launched a probe.
?The incident is under internal review,? a department spokesman said. A source said the Internal Affairs Bureau?s Group 1 ? which handles police corruption cases for captains and above ? is investigating. Gonzalez, who will be celebrating his 30th anniversary with the department later this year, remains on active duty, officials said.
A rep for 50 cent said the Grammy winner had just heard about Gonzalez?s ?shoot on sight? comment.
?Mr. Jackson takes this threat very seriously and is consulting with his legal counsel regarding his options going forward,? the rep said. ?He is concerned that he was not previously advised of this threat by the NYPD and even more concerned that Gonzalez continues to carry a badge and a gun.?
[From The NY Daily News]
There?s more background information in the NYDN article about how Gonzalez and 50 cent were already sort of in each other orbits, because Gonzalez had been accused of trying to shake down the proprietors of one of 50?s favorite clubs, and 50 used his social media to shine a light on the issue, and his followers issued some threats to Gonzalez (and 50 later took down the post). Basically, the whole thing would have boiled down to a dude-beef, except one of the dudes is a high-ranking, gun-toting cop who is likely corrupt as hell, and in a position to ?command? his men to shoot people on sight.
