| Lena Headey in Zuhair Murad at the Emmys: one of the best looks? | Added 9 years ago | Source: CeleBitchy |

Here are some photos of the lovely ladies of Game of Thrones at last night’s Emmys. The female contingent of GoT came out to play, starting with Queen Cersei/Lena Headey in this badass Zuhair Murad. I?m sure this isn?t everyone?s cup of tea and I might feel differently about this gown on someone else, but I completely love it on Lena. I think I love it so hard because she paired a great gown in a great color with her absolutely adorable spunky haircut. She?s the best!
Maisie Williams wore Ermanno Scervino and fluffy/furry shoes. A Girl got a lot of Twitter love for the shoes but A Blogger thinks they are too Fredrick?s of Hollywood. A Girl also did a bold, Delevingne-esque brow which? A Blogger has mixed feelings about. A Blogger enjoys A Girl in soft Pink though, so A Girl comes out ahead.
Sophie Turner in a Galvan jumpsuit. I?m not loving this and she?s wearing too much makeup. The whole effect is sort of garish.
Carice van Houten. Melisandre has been hitting the Botox too hard. Her face looks like it?s been touched by The Night?s King. The dress sucks too, much too ?young? for her.
Gwendoline Christie? I wouldn?t have put her in this, but it?s not bad at all.

| Naomi Watts in Dior at the Emmys: gorgeous or shapeless? | Added 9 years ago | Source: CeleBitchy |

Naomi Watts was at the Emmys last night supporting her partner, Liev Schreiber, who was nominated for Lead Actor in a Drama. That Emmy of course went to Jon Hamm. Ray Donovan is an incredible show and this season has been just as solid and entertaining as the last two, so I have hope that Schreiber will get another shot at an Emmy. The show has already been renewed for a fourth season.
Watts was in this kind of shapeless, sack-like Dior gown. The neckline was lovely and the sequin details were incredible, but it hung too loosely around her waist and made her look pregnant, which she’s surely not. Watts often takes risks but still manages to look incredible so this is a rare miss for her. I don’t think she wears Dior often.
Watts posted a really sweet Instagram pic with Screiber before the Emmys calling him her “baby daddy.” These two are SO CUTE.
About to hit the #Emmys2015 red carpet on the arm of @RayDonovan himself! #talentcrush #mybabydaddy

| Laura Prepon in Christian Siriano at the Emmys: overdone or just right? | Added 9 years ago | Source: CeleBitchy |

Laura Prepon led the rest of the OITNB ladies in the Emmys fashion department. She wore a custom Christian Siriano dress, which I disliked at first glance. Upon closer examination, it really works. A jacquard capelet and a red dress could look Christmas-y, you know? Somehow, Laura pulls it off, and the dress itself is so wonderfully tailored with a slight fishtail and hip details that don’t feel too extravagant. She was one of the best dressed of the evening, although I still miss her red hair. Her updo helps offset the complexity of her dress, and her makeup is smoky perfection.
Taylor Schilling wore canary yellow Stella McCartney dress, which is a perfect example of why Stella is so overrated as a designer. The cut isn’t flattering, and the dress doesn’t look tailored to Taylor (ha) at all. Boo, down with Stella designs! Taylor looks like she’s attending a beach-themed party at the Chateau Marmont. Something nice – her pincurls and makeup are really cute.
Dascha Polanko also wore yellow with this awkward Leanne Marshall dress. Girl, no. A yellow tube top doesn’t work at the Emmys, especially paired with a peekaboo chiffon skirt. The top is the wrong size, and she looks like she’s inches away from a major wardrobe malfunction. If anyone would have stepped on her skirt, this results could have been disastrous.
Laverne Cox went classic with a teal Calvin Klein number, and this dress is just perfect. The dress is so simple yet so effective, and there’s something wonderful about how Calvin’s designs skim a body so perfectly. This is how you do a red carpet without looking like you’re trying too hard.
Uzo Aduba can do no wrong in this Pink Jonathan Cohen dress with a halter top and printed dress. Uzo also took home the Best Supporting Actress in a Comedy award. This is her second consecutive win while playing Suzanne “Crazy Eyes” Warren, but last year, she only qualified as a guest actress. Good thing the television academy wised up and placed her in the proper category. She looks beautiful!
Taryn Manning got confused and thought she was headed to a Halloween party. This Rubin Singer dress looks very witchy, and it even comes with a Dracula cape. This is a case where Taryn would look cute and appropriate in a little cocktail dress instead.
Natasha Lyonne also went a little bit Stevie Nicks with this black dress that ended in a fringey skirt. She mostly pulls it off, but think of how sleek and amazing this dress would look if it ended in a column skirt (or even at the knee) instead of all that fringe, which does not bode well at an awards show.
Jackie Cruz wore white Christian Siriano and was one of the best-dressed OITNB ladies. She reminds me a little of Maya Rudolph with the fringe, and this is a solid Emmys entry. It would have looked a little sleeker without the front skirt slit, but no real complaints.

| Julia Louis-Dreyfus won an Emmy for Veep for the fourth year in a row | Added 9 years ago | Source: CeleBitchy |

Veep took home a bunch of Emmys last night, including Outstanding Comedy Series, Outstanding Supporting Actor in a Comedy Series, which went to Tony Hale, and Outstanding Writing for a Comedy Series. Julia Louis-Dreyfus won for Lead Actress in a Comedy Series for the fourth year in a row, or basically every single year the show has been on the air. It was Drefus’s seventh Emmy overall. She’s an incredible comedic actress but I feel sorry for Amy Poehler especially, as Poehler has been nominated every year since 2010 in this category for Parks & Rec and she’s never won. This was her last shot.
Poehler poked fun at this by wearing a hoodie and sunglasses while this category was announced. She pretended to nap as Dreyfus gave her speech. It was hard to ignore as Dreyfus cracked a couple decent jokes, especially her opener in which she claimed to be quoting the show but then revealed that Donald Trump had actually said that line. “I think it would be appropriate at this moment to quote our American politics show. ‘What a great honor it must be for you to honor me tonight.’ No, wait, no, I’m so sorry, Donald Trump said that.” I checked and she’s right of course.

| January Jones in an Ulyana Sergeenko jumpsuit at the Emmys: stunning? | Added 9 years ago | Source: CeleBitchy |

For real question: why does January Jones look so bow-legged in these photos? And why does this shade of green not translate well in still photos? When January walked onto the Emmys red carpet last night, the green popped. It looked rich. It looked amazing. But in these photos, it seems sort of flat! Ugh. And I totally thought she was wearing a full gown, not a jumpsuit, but here we are. The jumpsuit is by Ulyana Sergeenko. I?m going to make the leap and say that this works, her styling is on-point and her Resting Bitchface is life-affirming. I guess the explanation for the bow-legged look is that she?s standing with her legs too far apart and the fabric drapes in a weird way. I also have to say: with her hair like this, she really does give me Grace Kelly vibes.
God, I just love her RBF. It’s amazing.
January happily posed with Elisabeth Moss on the red carpet, one last Mad Men reunion. Both women decided to go for some bold colors, although I think Moss didn?t even come close to pulling off this Oscar de la Renta dress. She?s cute, she?s talented as hell, but she might need to make her peace with the fact that she?s not a Fashion Girl. And that?s fine! She doesn?t need to be a Fashion Girl. But that means? no fuchsia princess dresses. No matching lipstick. Just? NO.

| Maggie Gyllenhaal in Oscar de la Renta at the Emmys: silly or lovely? | Added 9 years ago | Source: CeleBitchy |

Maggie Gyllenhaal tried something different last night at the Emmys. As we all know, Maggie tends to go frumpy with her fashion, but she must have a new stylist. She wore this flouncy Oscar de la Renta ball gown, and I think she deserves credit for mixing things up. The dress combines a navy-blue bustier with a full, grape-colored skirt. This is an adventurous and fun selection for her! If we were measuring by awards show standards as a whole, Maggie wouldn’t fare in the top category. But compared to all her usual selections, this is an outstanding gown. The skirt is a little wrinkly, but that can’t be avoided after sitting in a car. This is a big win for Maggie.
Amanda Peet wore a textured, black ball gown by Michael Kors, although I’m not sure how I feel about the stomach cutout. Is it too much? Without it, the dress would be pretty boring, but a bared belly is unexpected at the Emmys. Eh, I like it, and the bun hairdo lends a sense of playfulness.
Anna Chlumsky wore an embellished Bibhu Mohapatra dress that was pretty perfect for the Emmys. It’s a little fussy, but she kept things from being too much by putting her hair up. She looks good, and I still can’t believe she’s the actress from My Girl.
Cat Deeley wore a metallic, bodycon Monique Lhuillier dress, which I actually loved. She looks stunning, and her loose hair is perfection with the dress. This is usually what Amber Heard tries to do, but Cat does it better.

Tina Fey wore a somber Antonio Berardi dress. She usually plays it safe, which is fine. This is Tina’s style and what makes her comfortable. It’s like the dress version of a tuxedo.

| Christina Hendricks in Naeem Khan at the Emmys: beautiful or boring? | Added 9 years ago | Source: CeleBitchy |

I feel like Christina Hendricks? Emmys look was very controversial. And to go with the theme, this came across differently in motion. In motion, Christina seemed like she was poured into this Naeem Khan gown. In these photos, it looks almost saggy and the gold sort of stands out too much. I will say that Christina?s styling has improved over the years, especially considering that this was her sixth Emmy nomination (and her losing streak remains unbroken), and I remember some of the fug and unflattering looks she?s worn over the years. The concept of putting Christina in this dress was solid ? she needs body-con and clean silhouettes with her figure, not more fabric and ruffles and stuff. So, I think at the end of the day? it?s fine.
I?ve always loved Kiernan Shipka?s red carpet style, which was always age-appropriate and rather adorable. But this Dior look? I?m not into it. Too twee? The sheer panel seemed tacked on? This is basically a babydoll dress over slacks? All of that and more.
Teyonah Parris in Francesca Miranda polka dots. Parris was really enjoying herself and posing like crazy in this dress. Polka dots are not my jam, but this just shows you what a great attitude can do for an ensemble ? she really loved her look, so I find myself enjoying it too.

| Jaimie Alexander in colorful Armani Prive at the Emmys: gorgeous or garish? | Added 9 years ago | Source: CeleBitchy |

|
Jaimie Alexander made a bit of a Twitter splash last night at the Emmys. People were a little surprised because she generally likes to draw attention to herself by showing a lot of skin. In contrast, this Armani Prive dress covered everything up. There’s an ready explanation in the form of her Blindspot tattoos. Jaimie told Giuliana that she couldn’t remove all of the residual dye, and she even had some visible ink on her neck. This show had better work out for all this makeup trouble, right? Jaimie looked really pretty in this reflective, multicolored dress. The stripes remind me of those colored rocks you find in caves. Her hair is all slicked back for “the wet look,” but it works because this ensemble would otherwise overpower.
Emma Roberts wore a pale, Grecian-inspired Jenny Packham dress that wasn’t my favorite. Since her hair is blonde now, and her skin is so pale, she needed a darker color to prevent looking washed out. Otherwise, her styling with a simple necklace strand and a bold clutch, was good, and her makeup was very pretty. Emma has a beautiful smile, even if she often plays terrifying characters these days.
Aubrey Plaza went basic but not at all boring with this Alexandre Vauthier dress. The deep v-neck and the high-thigh split make this dress more interesting than it would otherwise be. The glittery red sequins dress up the jersey-style fabric. Her hair is a little too perfect, and I think it would have been a fun contrast to add some volume.
Jane Krakowski looked uncomfortable in a Pink and black Bibhu Mohapatra gown with a slight fishtail. I didn’t like this dress at all but get what she was going for — old Hollywood glamour. It just didn’t execute so well, and she’s pose harding like crazy.
Kathryn Hahn wore a Vivienne Westwood dress that was too casual, which is heartbreaking. This dress would have been funky enough for a red carpet premiere, but it looks a little too chaotic for the Emmys. A sleek updo may have helped balance the wildness.

| Heidi Klum in Versace at the Emmys: Big Bird fug, the worst look of the night? | Added 9 years ago | Source: CeleBitchy |

Everyone was buzzing about Heidi Klum’s ridiculous half-sheer Versace dress at the Emmys. She looked like Big Bird molting from cancer treatment. Heidi has worn some terrible outfits before, but she really topped herself last night. The only time Heidi Klum dresses well for the occasion is on Halloween.
Also looking like 10 shades of hell in a sheer skirt gown is Julianne Hough. This dress is Marchesa of course and it reminds me of the lingerie I owned in the 90s. (Some of which I wore as outerwear, I’m not going to lie.) Hough went to the Emmys with her brother, which Kaiser pointed out to me is weird considering how happily engaged she is. She probably did that out of respect for her “ex boyfriend,” Ryan Seacrest, who did a great deal for her career. Her fashion sense similarly still needs work.
I’m throwing Tracee Ellis Ross in here, and while she doesn’t look half as bad as the other ladies, this pale Pink Zac Posen tiered dress is still questionable. She looks like a toilet paper topper doll. I don’t see how anyone could try on this gown and come to the conclusion “yes, that would look awesome on the red carpet.”

| Claire Danes in chained Prada at the Emmys: beautiful or budget? | Added 9 years ago | Source: CeleBitchy |

|
There were a few women who sort of blended into each other on the Emmys red carpet. Maybe it was because so many ladies were SO BLONDE and so melty from the heat, but I kept confusing Claire Danes for January Jones. Also, it was really funny to me that Claire was the second major actress on the red carpet to have chain details on her dress, and when Ryan Seacrest told her that Taraji Henson had chains too, Claire had a moment, just a flash, where she looked slightly pissed. She thought she was going to be the only one with chains!
Anyway, Claire?s dress was Prada. I?ve gotten to the point where I really, really do not like Prada?s gowns (unless Lupita Nyong?o is wearing them). This dress is sort of a study in how to f?k up a perfectly simple and classic design. If this had just been a simple, sequined slipdress, it would have been lovely and Claire might even be one of my favorites. But the chains just take this to a really fug level. First of all, the chains are GIANT. They?re, like, industrial chains. Second of all? I just hate her hair. It ruins the look. Celebitchy called this ?Republican spouse hair? and she?s right. Also: Hugh Dancy?s haircut is awful.
Here?s Morena Baccarin (who isn?t on Homeland anymore but whatever) in Reem Acra. This is? bad. It looks cheap.
Nazanin Boniadi from Homeland? beautiful girl, horrible dress. She was on the red carpet really early too, and people were like ?WTF?? to this Stephane Rolland boob-drape dress. Why would you do this to a young woman going to the Emmys?!

| Sofia Vergara in metallic St. John at the Emmys: incredible, boring or both? | Added 9 years ago | Source: CeleBitchy |

Sofia Vergara plugged her perfume like a pro at last night’s Emmy awards. That’s about all I took away from her interview with Ryan Seacrest. Oh and she’s also getting married to Joe Manganiello in November, which we’ve known for some time. Otherwise Sofia looked just about the same as she does at every awards ceremony, which is to say incredible albeit predictable. She loves strapless fitted gowns and she wears her hair down. Here she is in metallic St. John.
Also in a mermaid gown but looking much sharper we have Ariel Winter in red Romona Keveza. Ariel switches it up often so she can pull off this look without reminding us of every other red carpet she’s walked. Also, it feels creepy to admit I know this, but Ariel, 17, recently had a breast reduction. I would imagine she’s much more comfortable wearing fashion. This glamorous look is perfect for the Emmys, which is probably why Vergara repeats it so often. Ariel was there with her boyfriend, Laurent Claude Gaudette. They are adorable together.
Here’s fellow Modern Family star Julie Bowen in black full length Georges Chakra. This dress is a bit plain, with the exception of the additional shoulder strap, and there’s something off about her styling. The gown needs more color or details.
Sarah Hyland hit just the right combination of sexy and classic in this eggplant off the shoulder Zac Posen. This dress hugs her perfectly and her hair and makeup are impressive.

| Padma Lakshmi in Romona Keveza at the Emmys: is this the wrong color? | Added 9 years ago | Source: CeleBitchy |

|
|
|
I?m half-Indian and I have similar coloring with Padma Lakshmi and Mindy Kaling, and considering they were on the red carpet within minutes of each other, it made me stop and think: would I ever, EVER wear these colors? And that?s a no. It?s not just because I don?t really like bile/chartreuse colors, nor do I care for yellows, mustards, goldenrods, etc. I simply don?t believe that these are the best colors for typically “Indian coloring.”
Padma Lakshmi wore this Romona Keveza in bile/chartreuse. While I can?t stand the color, I have to admit? she?s so beautiful that she sort of pulls it off. I would have loved this same dress in a richer green, a blue, a red, even a pink. Hell, it would have been great in black or white too. I think the construction is great and if you?re going to go for a silk/satin dress, this is probably the way to do it. I just can?t get past the color though.
Mindy Kaling wore this mustard-y Salvador Perez gown. Sigh? I can?t. First of all, the dress looks so different in photos than it did when she was being interviewed by Ryan Seacrest. On TV, the detailing looked richer, more interesting. In photos, it looks cheap. Again, when you can coloring like Mindy and Padma, you can pull off so many colors. You can pull off most jewel tones AND pastels. You can pull off a clean white or a simple black. You just cannot pull off yellows and yellow-greens. Those colors are difficult for nearly every woman.
