I?m a little bit surprised that Diane Kruger didn?t wear Chanel to the Golden Globes, just because she usually wears Chanel to all of the major events. Diane went with this Prada gown which? I don?t like? I don?t completely hate it, but I just don?t care for it either. It doesn?t suit her? Diane?s German film, In the Fade, won Best Foreign Film and many people think that Diane could be a dark-horse contender for a Best Actress Oscar nomination. Norman Reedus was her date to the Globes, although they barely posed with each other on the carpet. She did give him a big kiss when her film won though. And they partied with each other after the show.

I wouldn?t say that last year?s season of Game of Thrones fell off a cliff, but it definitely wasn?t as high-quality as previous seasons. Still, I was somewhat disappointed that GoT was completely shut out of the Golden Globes. I mean, it?s still a massive f–king show! It deserves something? Anyway, here are some photos of some of the cast at the Globes and Globe parties. Emilia Clarke wore this simple MiuMiu gown – I like this, but she should have taken a page out of Zoe Kravitz?s book and accessorized the sh-t out of her simple column dress. This is crying out for big statement earrings!
Emilia also presented at the Globes with Kit Harington, who was probably nursing a monstrous hangover. On Friday, Kit was in a New York bar and he was so smashed that he was trying to start a fight over a pool game or something – go here to read the story and see the video. Little dude was blitzed. On Saturday night, Emilia and Kit attended Sean Penn?s Haiti fundraiser, which is where Brad Pitt bid $120,000 to spend the evening with them (or just Emilia).
Winter is officially here for Brad Pitt. Pitt offered to pay $120,000 to watch an episode of ?Game of Thrones? with Emilia Clarke ? but he was outbid. Pitt bid six figures to watch a ?Game of Thrones? episode with Clarke on Saturday night during a silent auction at Sean Penn?s annual gala for Haiti, held at Milk Studios in Los Angeles, California.
During the charity gala, the auctioneer announced the opportunity to watch an episode with Clarke, who was in attendance at the A-list event, along with her ?Game of Thrones? co-star Kit Harington, though the cast members were seated at separate tables. The auction to watch the episode with Clarke started at $20,000, but the race quickly escalated. At one point, the auctioneer yelled out ?Is the King of the North here?!? But as it turned out, Harington had stepped out of the gala to go to the restroom.
Meanwhile, Pitt bid $80,000 to watch an episode of ?GOT? with Clarke. Then he outbid himself to $90,000. When Harington came back into the room, the actor offered to also sit in on the episode viewing. And that?s when Pitt raised his own bid to $120,000. In the end, Pitt was outbid by a gala-goer who ended the auction at $160,000.

Hm? do you think Brad Pitt is just obsessed with dragons, or is there something else going on? He?s rich, for sure, so blowing that kind of money isn?t a huge deal. But still – that?s a lot of money just to spend an hour with the Mother of Dragons.

I wanted to make Geena Davis the headliner for this post because while her Thelma and Louise co-star (and co-presenter last night) Susan Sarandon is blustering and problematic, Geena does amazing work for gender equality in media, largely behind the scenes. People don’t say “oh wow Geena Davis is such an activist” because she’s boots-on-the-ground sponsoring research, meeting with media executives and running film festivals. She’s not giving bullsh-t quotes to promote herself like her buddy Sarandon. Geena started the Geena Davis Institute on Gender in Media in 2004, after she noticed a lack of girls and women in children’s television shows she was watching with her daughter. She’s since worked to bring awareness to this issue and to increase representation of girls and women in television and film. She also started the Betonville Film Festival in 2015, with a focus on diversity. So she’s been working in this area for years and making a difference.
Geena was in Monique Lhuillier, in a lace and sequin gown. The fringe at the bottom seems unnecessary, right? She looks incredible though.
Alison Brie had on a Vassilis Zoulias sweetheart neckline gown with a huge billowing skirt with pants underneath. I adore this gown, particularly with that amazing necklace, which is by Bulgari. When Alison was being interviewed by Giuliana Rancic she said “tonight is about wearing the pants so I?m literally wearing the pants.” She also talked about supporting all victims, including those who have not publicly told their stories yet. Alison’s new husband, Dave Franco, was there with his brother, James (who won best actor for Disaster Artist). Alison was getting interviewed by Giuliana at the same time that James and Dave were being interviewed by Ryan Seacrest. They saw each other over the monitors and Dave’s face lit up when Alison came on. He was so happy to see her and it was sweet.
Samira Wiley rocked this Romona Keve?a gown which had like a geometric inverted necklace made up of wired-together leaf-like shapes in shades of gold. I kept staring at it when she was on stage for Handmaid’s Tale, which won for Best Television Series – Drama. It’s a plain dress with built-in jewelry and I want it! Samira was there with her wife of nearly a year, Lauren Morelli.

I know a lot of you watch and love The Deuce and particularly rave about Maggie Gyllenhaal’s performance. I only saw about half of the first two-hour episode and then gave up because it seemed to meander. I probably need to give it a chance and get to know the characters first, because I know Corey loves it. Maggie was nominated in the Best Performance by an Actress In A Television Series ? Drama, which went to Elisabeth Moss for Handmaid’s Tale. She was in this Monse outfit which involved a sequin tube top with an asymmetric deconstructed hem over black dress pants. It’s weird and quirky and I actually like it, especially with those drop earrings. It doesn’t know whether it wants to be a dress or a suit but I don’t care.
Here’s Amy Poehler in Greta Constantine, in a dress which has a little built-in capelet and tie front. I swear she’s worn something very similar to this before. Her date was activist Saru Jayaraman, the co-founder and President of the Restaurant Opportunities Centers United. You can learn more about their work here. Amy did a bit with Seth Meyers in which she refused to get the setup to the punchline of a joke, as other celebrities had in the lead-up. She acted drunk and said “Said the peach in Call Me by Your Name, this scene is the pits.” I like how she riffed on being mansplained to by Seth. The writing was really funny last night.

I interrupt the normal Golden Globes coverage to bring you the WTFery of Kendall Jenner. Kendall Jenner and her new, tragic lips made an appearance at the Golden Globes last night. FOR NO REASON!! Kendall wasn?t a presenter, and she obviously wasn?t nominated for anything. She wasn?t a ?Globe Ambassador? or whatever. She?s just a nepotism model who is looking increasingly plastic. Why was she there? In a night full of such amazing Lady Power moments, why did Kendall Jenner show up? Did she bring the Pepsi and solve Black Lives Matter?
Kendall wore Giambattista Valli. CB wanted me to point out that this is pretty much the same sillhouette which Rihanna has been rocking for years, only Rihanna does it better (obviously). I said last night that the ?maternity? look of the dress was making me rethink my previous eyerolls at all of the conspiracies around Kendall. Lord, is she pregnant too? Does that explain the lips? Hahahaha, nothing explains the lips.
Also absurd: the fact that Susan Sarandon got any applause last night. Don?t clap for her. She?s still an a–hole. She did bring Rosa Clemente as her date, which was the only good thing about her appearance.

I was super-excited to see Angelina Jolie at the 2018 Golden Globes, and she did not disappoint. Jolie hasn?t attended a major awards show – Globes, SAGs, Oscars – in a few years. She?s had other sh-t on her plate, and yes, she hadn?t been invited as a nominee in recent years. I would assume she gets constant invites to present, and this year, she decided to take them up. Plus, First They Killed My Father was nominated (it did not win). Jolie brought her son Pax as her date!
