I actually don?t remember Keira Knightley doing a ton of nudity in her career? I mean, I know she?s gone topless a few times, but it?s not like she?s known for taking on super-sexy roles where her body is on display. Most of her career is made up of costume-dramas, although I recently saw half (?) of The Aftermath, and I was surprised by the sex scenes and the partial nudity from Keira. Turns out, that was probably the last ?let?s take the kit off? role for Keira. She?s now saying that she?s cancelling nudity!
Keira Knightley has insisted that she will no longer strip off for racy nude scenes now that she is a mother-of-two. The actress, 34, admitted that she always felt completely comfortable stripping off for films when she was younger. But now that she is a mother-of-two, Keira revealed that motherhood has changed the way her body looks and she doesnt want to stand nude in front of a film crew. In an interview with The Financial Times, she joked: The nipples droop!
Keira added: Im really happy with my body. Its done an amazing thing. But I also dont want to stand there in front of a whole film crew. The actress insisted that she always felt completely comfortable stripping off for films when she was younger but nowadays sex scenes are heightened in movies. While Keira has appeared topless in films such as The Edge Of Love and The Duchess, she said that she has never done a scene where I felt, Whoa, that went too far.
That was a choice, she said of her decision not to undress on camera any more. I get to choose the body double. It is an interesting selection process! It kind of goes like, Thats a little bit like you, but better. She has a lovely body, so she can do this then I get final approval of what the edit is.
She told The Times: I have been comfortable earlier with more nudity than I am now. I have had a kid, I am in my thirties, I am very happy with my body. But I dont feel I need to get it out that much any more.
She now has a no-nudity clause in her contract and is proud that she has total control of every sex scene she appears in.
[From The Daily Mail]
I think it?s her body, her choice, and I?m happy that she has that power on film sets, to dictate how her body is shown or not shown. I feel like? every actress should have that power? But it?s something ?given? to certain actresses when they reach a certain level of fame or success. Still, that seems to be changing too, especially with Time?s Up. In many of the interviews and round-table discussions with actresses over the past two years, they?ve all said that more shoots are hiring ?intimacy coaches? who are basically there to be advocates for the actors re: nudity and sex scenes. Progress is so slow.

| Keira Knightley: If I don't pump when I?m away from my baby my boobs explode | Added 5 years ago | Source: CeleBitchy |

Kiera Knightly and husband James Righton welcomed their second daughter, Delilah, in September. (Show of hands, who now has the Plain White T?s song stuck in their head? *raises hand*) James and Keira also have a four-year-old named Edie. Now that Delilah (hey there!) is seven weeks old, Keira is back working and promoting her film, Official Secrets, about an Iraq war intelligence translator turned whistleblower. During her interviews and red carpets, Keira?s let little bits and pieces about her new baby leak out. Literally, it turns out, as Keira is producing so much more milk this go round, she hits critical mass if she doesn?t pump.
Despite outward appearances for work engagements and otherwise, Knightley insists she?s having to take life day by day and schedule pumping for her newborn?s feedings strategically.
?We?re going to be apart for six hours in total, so I pumped three feeds? worth,? she says in the interview, joking of using the breast pump, ?If I don?t do it my boobs will explode.?
?I mean, quite literally. It?s going everywhere,? Knightley continues, also sharing that she is taking six months of maternity leave. ?So, you know, that?s not happening. The pump is with me. It?s fine.?
Earlier this month, Knightley hit the red carpet for the London premiere of her new film Official Secrets ? where she plays Iraq war intelligence translator Katharine Gun ? after quietly giving birth to her second child.
The actress and new mom of two sat down with BBC Breakfast?s Louise Minchin the next morning to discuss peaceful protests and her latest movie role ? and opened up about her baby for the first time.
The Pride & Prejudice star went on to describe her demanding pumping schedule, including that she had pumped breast milk right before she went on camera for the interview.
?I?ve gotta get back before 6:30 because that?s the feed. It?s going to be fine, we?re going to make it,? Knightley told Minchin. ?There is a bit of extra milk ? which I?d love not to use, because it?s in the freezer and that can be tricky ? but it is there.?
Of having to ?deal with the stuff that normal moms have to deal with,? the actress said, ?I definitely have to deal with pumping. Everyone has to deal with pumping ? I mean, if you?re doing that and it?s working. If you want to do that and if you can do that ? then yes, we?re pumping. Pumping. So much pumping.?
[From People]
Oh, how I remember the pain of a non-pumped boob full of breastmilk. And it was a double-edged sword, too, because they looked so gorgeous in that state but yes, if someone so much as brushed past me, I?d have to do a full outfit change. We talk quite a bit about not knowing what to expect with each child and this is a prime example. It sounds like Keira has a lot more milk this time and I?m sure that was a hell of a surprise when she first started dealing with it. The thing about the second child is, even though everyone tells you otherwise, you go into it thinking you know what to expect. So poor Keira is expecting the same milk flow and schedule as with Edie and Blam! she?s momentarily blinded the dog with a sudden shot of milk. However, like Keira, I think any mom would rather have too much than too little, regardless of having a pair of active volcanos attached to their chest.
As for the film she?s promoting, it looks really good. Plus the cast is great, and it was well-reviewed. But it was released in the US in August, how did I not hear anything about it?

Keira Knightley?s second pregnancy was very undercover. Nothing was announced, but she wasn?t hiding either she attended several fashion events in May and June where she had a noticeable bump and that was that. Her first pregnancy and birth was quiet-ish too going from memory, we didn?t find out that she had given birth to her daughter Edie until weeks later, and it was months before we got confirmation on Edie?s name. The British papers figured out that Keira had given birth to her second child when she and James Righton went for a walk on September 13th in London with a baby stroller. And now we know the name. But of course the Daily Mail has to make it as weird as possible:
Keira Knightley and her husband James Righton have reportedly named their newborn baby Delilah. On September 13, the couple confirmed that they had welcomed their second child by taking the tot on a stroll in London.
Although Delilah is traditionally a girls name, Keira, 34, and James, 36, were spotted taking their baby for a walk in a blue pram and they have yet to confirm the childs gender. According to the Mail On Sunday, rocker James was overheard telling friends all about the baby at a Hugo Boss yacht party on Thursday.
[From The Daily Mail]
On one side, I guess we could applaud the DM for perhaps trying to modernize and acknowledge that they shouldn?t gender-stereotype just because a baby is named Delilah. On the other side, they are seriously confused by the fact that the baby stroller was BLUE and BLUE IS FOR BOYS.
As for the name Delilah, I love it and I think it ?fits? with Edie. Edie and Delilah sound like sisters. Delilah Righton sounds very British too! Florence and the Machine have a GREAT song called ?Delilah,? and I kind of wonder if that was an influence too? I?m going to be free and I?m going to be fine

I totally blanked on the fact that Keira Knightley is pregnant again. And I even wrote a post about it back in May! I have no memory of that. But yes, Keira is pregnant right now. It?s her second pregnancy. She gave birth to daughter Edie back in 2015. I think Keira must be pretty far along in this pregnancy too she had a nice sized bump back in May. Maybe a late summer delivery? Or early fall, perhaps. A Virgo baby or a Libra baby. Anyway, Keira recently chatted with the Daily Mail?s gossip guy Sebastian Shakespeare about ageing. Keira is only 34 years old, but as I said many times, Keira really stopped giving a sh-t in her 30s, and she?ll talk about whatever she wants to talk about. I really enjoyed these quotes:
Keira Knightley has mixed feelings about growing old.
?I walk down the street and I see women with amazing grey hair and the lines on their face and I think it?s the story of their life and I love it and I feel empowered by it and that?s what I want to be when I grow up,? says the Atonement actress, 34. ?And then I find grey hairs and I think, ?Oh my god I?m going to dye it!? ?
The actress, who is pregnant with her second child by her musician husband James Righton, adds: ?You think you know what your body is and what your face is, then suddenly it changes. It?s not about vanity, some of it is, but it?s not all about vanity. It?s about not recognising who you thought you were.?
[From The Daily Mail]
Yes, I love seeing middle-aged women and older women embrace the ageing process and rock grey hair and their laugh lines and all of that. I prefer seeing that rather than bad dye jobs, wigs and joker-faces. But then when I see my own grey hair, or the dark circles under my eyes (hereditary) or the new, slowly developing crow?s feet, I?m like ?damn I need to go to the drug store and buy some dye and some better eye cream.? I do think there?s a difference between ?dyeing your hair and taking care of your skin? versus ?I completely reject ageing and I?m going in for an eyelift/facelift right now.? But ultimately, it?s your own individual call. And Keiras right, for many of us, its not just about vanity, its about recognizing ourselves.

It?s a Hollywood baby boom! Or something. At the same time that Blake Lively was wordlessly confirming that she was deep into her third pregnancy in New York, Keira Knightley was stepping out in Paris with her visible baby bump too. Keira stepped out with her husband James Righton in Paris for a Chanel cocktail party. Keira is the face of Chanel?s CoCo Mademoiselle fragrance, so this was an appearance on behalf of her endorsement contract. And I bet Chanel was happy to have Keira debut her bump outside the event:

| Keira Knightley: We don't give women enough credit for the 'marathon' of motherhood | Added 5 years ago | Source: CeleBitchy |

Keira Knightley was in New York last week to promote her latest film, The Aftermath. I seem to remember that The Aftermath was originally supposed to come out late last year, possibly for the awards season, but I might be hallucinating that. It?s already been released this month, although it obviously got overshadowed by Captain Marvel and Madea and such. I always feel bad for those costume dramas they deserve more than being dumped in March with a limited release. The Aftermath looked like a typical overwrought WWII-era love story, starring Jason Clarke, Keira and Alex Skarsgard. I was into the trailer.
Anyway, when Keira was promoting the film, she talked a bit about motherhood. Her daughter Edie is three years old, and Edie?s birth marked the big change we see in Keira lately. Keira had some stuff to say about privilege and how difficult motherhood is:
Keira Knightley may be hoping for baby number two soon after praising women for attempting to juggle work and motherhood. The Oscar nominee, wed to musician James Righton, gave birth to daughter Edie in 2015.
Since then, she said: ?I don?t think we give women enough credit for the physical and emotional marathon they go through when becoming a mother. I come from a place of amazing privilege. I have an incredible support system; I?ve been unbelievably lucky in my career; I can afford good childcare, and yet I still find it really f?ing difficult.?
[From Page Six]
I don?t think we give Keira enough credit for recognizing her privilege, talking about it and still using her platform to discuss social inequities, sexism and women?s economic issues. Like, Keira has never been one of those judgy ?if you eat a donut while pregnant, you?re a terrible person? women. She talks about pregnancy and motherhood in a very direct and honest way. She?s never been here to whitewash on those experiences. I love her for that.
Here?s a photo of Keira at the New York premiere of The Aftermath last week. Her gown was Valentino and I HATE IT.

Keira Knightley has been contractually obligated to wear Chanel for years now. She doesn?t have to wear Chanel on *every* red carpet, so sometimes she mixes it up with Valentino or? I can?t think of another label she?s worn? It?s usually Chanel. And usually, Chanel gives Keira some of their best stuff, cute little cocktail dresses or fabulous suits or intricate, vaguely twee gowns. This Chanel gown, at last night?s London premiere of The Aftermath, is such a hard pass for me. It?s kind of terrible on her, right? With that face and that slim, model-like figure, you really have to TRY to make Keira look thick-waisted and dull. Which is what this gown does.
Update: Oh god I wrote this up before I saw the reports of Karl Lagerfelds passing. He was brilliant and weird and crazy (but not always the best designer, see: this gown).
I?ve talked about how I want to see The Aftermath, even though it looks like the release date got pushed back to the February graveyard of film releases. Initially, I?m almost positive this was supposed to be a late entry to the end-of-year awards season extravaganza. They must have pushed it back after it tested poorly or something. The reviews of it aren?t great, despite the prestige names: Ridley Scott directed it, Keira stars alongside Alexander Skarsgard and Jason Clarke. It?s a WWII-era tragisexy romance. Here?s the trailer:
Weirdly, at the premiere, Alex looks like he dressed in character as a banker from the 1950s.

| Keira Knightley is still talking about how 'The Little Mermaid' has a terrible message | Added 6 years ago | Source: CeleBitchy |

|
Several weeks back, Keira Knightley appeared on The Ellen Show to promote her Disney film, The Nutcracker and the Four Realms. Keira?s got a long-standing relationship with Disney, and obviously, she?s starring in one of their big holiday films. But that didn?t stop her from dissing several of Disney?s most classic animated films, like The Little Mermaid, Cinderella and any film she deemed too un-feminist to show her daughter. Keira even went so far as to say that she had banned those films outright from her house, so Edie will never see The Little Mermaid (until she goes to a friend?s house, probably).
Anyway, Keira?s pronouncement led to some debates, on this blog and beyond. Is it better to ban kids? films with problematic messages, or is it better to allow kids to enjoy classic animated films and explain to your kid why certain films have certain issues? I grew up watching Sleeping Beauty and Cinderella, and I turned an okay feminist (ish?). Why can?t Edie be the same? Well, Keira had more thoughts about all of it she spoke to the Press Association at the London premiere of The Nutcracker:
Keira told Press Association: ?Moana is big in our house, Inside Out is big in our house, I just wonder what Elsa (from Frozen) would say to Ariel (from The Little Mermaid) and Cinderella because Elsa has some serious opinions about Anna (her sister in Frozen) going off with a guy that she?s only just met and saying she would marry him.
?She?s like ?absolutely that is not okay? and in fact everyone in Frozen is not okay with that. What would Elsa say to Ariel, who gives up her voice for a man? A man, by the way, she has only seen dance round a ship and then drown! And it?s 100 percent amazing of Ariel to save the guy, I?m totally up for that, but what would Elsa make of that? I think Elsa would be like: ?Babe, you?ve got to get to know him better, don?t give up your voice just yet.??
[From Metro]
I appreciate that Keira feels so strongly about this, and I think it?s flat-out hilarious that she?s disrespecting half of Disney?s most classic animated films WHILE SHE?S PROMOTING A DISNEY MOVIE. But, again, why not wait a few years Edie is only 3 years old and then watch The Little Mermaid WITH her and bring up all these points? I mean, Keira isn?t ruling that out, and I think she?ll probably soften the ?bans? at some point, so maybe she?s just trying to start the dialogue. Maybe her point is that little girls shouldn?t be brainwashed with problematic messaging when they?re too little to think critically? I don?t know, fk it. I was watching Beverly Hills Cop when I was a little kid, so Im probably not the person to ask.

Here are some photos from the big London premiere of The Nutcracker and the Four Realms, the Disney film that I guess a lot of families will be seeing during the holiday season. This film was not made for me, and I?m fine with that I?m not into ballet, generally speaking, nor am I into The Nutcracker specifically. But I can still enjoy the promotional tour and the fashion, and there was a lot to enjoy at the premiere. Keira Knightley wore this frothy Chanel Haute Couture gown which? might be the rare Chanel gown that I?m okay with. On another woman, I would dislike this. If I saw it in person, I might dislike it. But it kind of suits Keira, doesn?t it? It works on her, and it works for the premiere of this film in particular.
Ellie Bamber also wore Chanel, and this is very ?ballerina? look I?m okay with this as well, although I think the whole dress would be improved by taking out the belt?
Mackenzie Foy in Rodarte. Pink gown with sparkly-metallic polka dots? It sort of works, right? She?s so young she?s only 17, about to turn 18 in a few days. It works because of her age.
I don?t know why Misty Copeland decided to go for such a dark dress when all of her costars went for pastels, but here we go. Misty wore Fendi the fabric looks like upholstery and the detailing on the chest is tragic. Ugh.

It really feels like Keira Knightley has gotten more feminist over the past few years especially. I think giving birth to a daughter made Keira want to get louder and angrier about the state of women?s rights in general. I like Nu Keira, honestly. She?s more interesting, even if she sometimes comes across as a bit judgy towards royal women. Anyway, Keira is promoting Colette and The Nutcracker (a Disney film, lol), so she appeared on The Ellen Show this week. Ellen and Keira ended up talking about what Disney movies are banned for feminist reasons in the Knightley-Righton household.
Keira Knightley is currently making the rounds to promote Walt Disney Pictures upcoming movie The Nutcracker and the Four Realms (in theaters Nov. 2). But as the 33-year-old actress confessed on The Ellen DeGeneres Show Tuesday, shes not a fan of every movie the studio has produced, particularly when it involves Disney Princesses who dont uphold her feminist values.
As a result, the actress has forbidden her 3-year-old daughter, Edie Knightley Righton, from watching certain movies. Cinderella, released in 1950, is banned, Knightley said, because she waits around for a rich guy to rescue her. Dont! Rescue yourself. Obviously! And this is the one that Im quite annoyed about because I really like the film, but Little Mermaid [is banned, too]. I mean, the songs are great, but do not give your voice up for a man. Hello! But the problem with The Little Mermaid is I love The Little Mermaid! That ones a little tricky?but Im keeping to it.
Not all Disney movies are off-limits. Finding Dory is a big favorite in our house, Knightley told Ellen DeGeneres, who voiced the forgetful blue tang. Frozen is huge and Moana is totally fine?. ?
Presumably, The Nutcracker and the Four Realms is totally fine. Knightley stars in the movie as the Sugar Plum Fairy, and with her cotton candy hair, I look a bit like a psychotic cake, dont I? To get into character, Knightley was covered head-to-toe in glitter. We shot it almost two years ago and I think Ive still got glitter in my house. Its impossible to get off. Its a disaster, and I was covered in it for about four months while we were making the film, she said. Its a disaster. It is very definitely now in my contract that I wont work with glitter. Absolutely not!
[From E! News]
Eh. I?m from the generation which was ?too old? to watch the revitalized Disney studio?s big push in the ?90s, yet too young for the classics like Cinderella and Sleeping Beauty. I mean, I still watched the ?classic Disney? films, and Sleeping Beauty was always my favorite. Cinderella too. I always hated Snow White though? I mean, those films were of their time and of course the ?message? of those stories was always screwed up. But? I don?t know, do you think that sometimes gasp feminist moms take it too far? Cinderella is a classic! As for The Little Mermaid? yeah, again, it?s problematic. But it?s another classic. I feel like Keira?s worried that if she ever did show those ?problematic? films to her daughter, Edie would just want to watch them constantly and it?s more about Keira?s annoyance than anything else.
