Here is Kristen Stewart attending The Metropolitan Museum of Art’s Costume Institute benefit gala celebrating “Charles James: Beyond Fashion”.
She sported her signature glum expression, that didn’t stop the outfit from dazzling us. Featuring a multi-colour short skirt with a long sheer layer over top, a golden cinched-in waist and a vibrant Pink top, the elaborate dress fit the actress’ eclectic style perfectly. Bright orange hair swept to the side and black pumps complemented the shimmering dress.

Here is Jessica Alba attending Charles James: Beyond Fashion Costume Institute Gala in New York.
She wears gold lace Diane Von Furstenberg deep v-neck gown. Her styling is so glam and pretty, and I love her accessories. To me this dress is underwhelming though. It has some amazing details, particularly the tiered waistline which leads to the flowing skirt. I think that this is more of an awards ceremony or premiere dress than something for the Met Gala. It?s very lovely, it?s just not a standout gown.

Anna Wintour is the famed overseer of the Met Ball so when Madonna asked if she could wrap herself in toilet paper and show off her nips, the answer was a resoundingno. Madonna didn’t like these gestapo tactics so she went on Instagram and wrote, “What i wanted to wear to Met Ball but Anna said Not this year! So I’m gonna work on music instead? #artforfreedom.” #OUTLAWCOUNTRY!
I’m pretty sure she was joking or at least I hope she was. She’s crazy if she thought anyone would leta 55-year-old walkaround celebs with her sad, droopy tits hanging out.

| Katie Holmes in mustard Marchesa at the Met Gala: whimsical or terrible? | Added 10 years ago | Source: CeleBitchy |

Katie Holmes went all out at last night’s Met Gala. By “all out,” I mean that she decided to wear one of the most awful gowns in recent memory. She has a lot of competition from the other ladies in this post. Katie’s attempt to fit last night’s theme was this mustard-colored Marchesa ball gown. The dress has already spawned comparisons to Belle’s dress from Beauty and the Beast. I want to give Katie points for proudly wearing this dress. You can tell she really loves it. She’s glowing underneath this monstrosity. To be fair, she also once liked standing next to Tom Cruise. Yes, let’s blame this on some Tom PTSD. Something nice: her hair looks fantastic from the side.
Kate Upton proved that models don’t always have style. This dress … I don’t know how to summarize it. It’s see-thru, but it’s not. There’s a corset and stripey faux-panels. On top of all that, her girls are busting out. The statement necklace and earrings look plastic, and that headpiece rivals Madonna’s 1980s “Borderline” hairdo.
Karolina Kurkova looked like a very bold, fun orgami game. This dress is Marchesa. Anywhere else, it would have been awful, but it works for this event.
Elizabeth Olsen wore a short, ice-blue Miu Miu dress. Very ice-capadey. The yellow and red strappy sandals are confusing, as is the turquoise clutch.
Maggie Gyllenhaal was a contender in this Valentino gown that looked like 1960s curtains. Maybe she wanted to go mod and match her new pixie cut.
Kristen Wiig wore a Balenciaga and Alexander Wang combo ensemble featuring a black sparkle-mullet dress with skinny tap pants. The halter neckline of the dress looks awkward, and her makeup is washed out. Kristen is actually the best of this bunch, but that’s not saying much.

| Rachel McAdams in Ralph Lauren at the Met Gala: snooze worthy or elegant? | Added 10 years ago | Source: CeleBitchy |

|
|
|
I think it’s been years since we’ve seen Rachel McAdams at the Costume Institute Gala, if ever. So that’s why I’m disappointed that she wore this simple, pale Pink Ralph Lauren gown when she could have really stepped it up. This is just a one tone pastel gown in a very simple silhouette and it’s forgettable to me. Plus her hair and makeup are similarly underwhelming.
Also at last night’s Met Gala were Rachel’s most recent ex (that we know of), Michael Sheen, and his new lady, Sarah Silverman. Sarah was in a va-va voom scarlet Zac Posen gown that looked incredible, but was apparently difficult to maneuver. This was Sarah and Micheal’s first red carpet together as a couple. I wonder if Rachel and Michael had any awkward run-ins? That must be a sh*tty part of being in show business: running in those small circles of people and having to see your ex and his new piece.
Hailee Steinfeld also looked classic and perfect for the theme in black and white Prabal Gurung. I love how the hemline on this dress is somewhat bell-like, and how old school this dress is. I’m not fond of her styling, though. I like a bold brow but it’s like someone teased hers up.
Another young starlet in black and white was Chloe Moretz, in Chanel. Some may call this dress too old fashioned and mature for her, but I sort-of like it. I think her styling keeps it fresh and young looking, although some of the details are too much. The goofy Western belt could go, as could the Pink tufted pieces around the waist. Otherwise I think it’s cute, and I love her hair and makeup.

| Selena Gomez in Diane von Furstenberg at the Met Gala: perfect or boring? | Added 10 years ago | Source: CeleBitchy |

|
Selena Gomez is in the midst of a career reinvention. She just signed with new management and is hopefully receiving some good advice. This plum-colored Diane Von Furstenberg dress is superb. If this look is any indication of Selena’s future fashion, she’s doing well. This is a simple silhouette that’s been livened up a bit with a ruched, asymmetrical bodice. The fabric hugs her figure without gripping too shamelessly. Selena looks mature but not like she’s trying too hard. Finally, Selena looks like a 21-year-old instead of a teenager playing dress up!
Selena didn’t jump in for the costume theme, but this is still a winning look for her. Her hair and makeup are subdued but elegant. The geometric earrings add just a dash of adventure.
Selena’s frenemy, Kendall Jenner, tottered into the venue in a too-tight Topshop dress. This look cements Kendall as a full-fledged member of the tacky Klan. I was hoping she’d escape the bad Kardashian styling, but this dress is a fug, wrinkly, satin-y mess. Poor Kendall couldn’t sit down all evening. Selena wins this battle.

Rashida Jones did really well by Rashida standards! I’ve long lamented Rashida’s lack of style, which frumpens up her beauty. This Tory Burch isn’t much compared to last night’s collection of dresses, but it works. What an improvement. This lilac and blue gown simmers with old school touches. The off-the-shoulder neckline and glam curls are a step in the right direction. More of this, Rashida.
Maggie Q wore a Zac Posen dress that seemed too severe for the occasion. She looks like an ornate pilgrim.

| Gisele Bundchen in Balenciaga at the 2014 Met Gala: beautiful or blah? | Added 10 years ago | Source: CeleBitchy |

It always amazes me how few risks Gisele Bundchen takes when she?s on a red carpet. As a model, in ad campaigns and on runways, she?s up for anything. She?ll do any kind of styling, and she?s proven that she can wear pretty much anything. But when Gisele is herself on a red carpet, it?s kind of boring. She likes relatively simple frocks, she usually goes for clean lines, nothing too dramatic. For this year?s Met Gala, Gisele wore Balenciaga (which is under new leadership following Nicolas Ghesquire?s exit). The dress is pretty, but it doesn?t stand out at all. Tom Brady?s hair looks sketchy too.
Dita Von Teese in Zac Posen. Karen Elson was wearing Posen too ? those were Zac?s dates for the night. I like Zac Posen as a person, but I think he?s overrated as a designer. While Dita?s dress is beautifully constructed, the colors are seriously off.

Naomi Campbell wore Givenchy, and Riccardo Tisci was her date. I don?t loathe her dress, but I don?t like it either. It?s a bad design saved by the fact that Naomi has a great body and can wear anything.
Newly single Adriana Lima wore Givenchy as well. This dress sucks.

| Emma Stone in bright Thakoon at the 2014 Met Gala: lovely or unflattering? | Added 10 years ago | Source: CeleBitchy |

This is a post for all of my ?Nice try, but maybe next year? dresses at the 2014 Met Gala. It?s not that any of these gowns are either all-good or all-bad. Most of them would only need some minor tweaking or slight redesign to be workable. Emma Stone wore this two-piece Thakoon which? I don?t know. I don?t like it. I could have gotten on board with the idea of it, but the top just looks like a cotton tank (although I?m sure it?s fancier than that). I think she was aiming for minimalist and it came away looking budget. Something nice: It?s cute that Andrew walked the carpet with her, and I do like that she doesn?t have those awful bangs here.
Michelle Williams in Louis Vuitton. Ugh, really? Michelle is the current face of LV, so I?m sure she was required to wear the label. But LV makes gowns too. I just feel like a boringly sparkly cocktail dress is not getting the job done.
Riley Keough wore LV as well. She looks like her mother (Lisa Marie) and her grandmother (Priscilla) here.
Zoe Saldana wore a Michael Kors duvet.
Jessica Par also wore a duvet by Michael Kors, but she repurposed the duvet into something altogether zzzzz???. I miss January Jones.

| Emmy Rossum in Carolina Herrera at the Met Gala: gorgeous or floral nightmare? | Added 10 years ago | Source: CeleBitchy |

|
Emmy Rossum’s fashion can be somewhat hit or miss. She looked pretty banging at last year’s Met Gala, when she was in Donna Karan for the “punk” theme. Emmy was on-point this year in floral Carolina Herrera. This is a gorgeous gown in a very classic cut and retro print. She wears it well. I really like this gown for this event and her styling is spot on. I’m impressed.
Colin Firth’s lady Livia Giuggioli also went for glamour in red Carolina Herrera. She was one of many women in red. This is another gown that fits the night to a T. Look at her amazing necklace and elegant black gloves. So pretty.
Livia tweeted this photo of herself cozying up to Benedict Cumberbatch at dinner last last. A lucky bitch on many levels.
Chiwetel Ejiofor and his girlfriend, Sari Mercer, were another handsome British couple at the Met. Sari’s floral Dolce & Gabanna dress is just too much, though. I thought this monstrosity was Givenchy. There’s too much going on with all the floral appliques, the flouncy details all over and the pale peach color. Who styled her with that horrible satin matching purse? I feel sorry for Sari, but only a little bit because she still gets to go home with Chiwetel.

Solange was also in peach, in a 3.1 Phillip Lim gown that didn’t know whether it wanted to be a flapper or a ball gown. It’s like two different styles tried to have a baby. There’s too much gathered fabric. Maybe this dress is a triumph in that it’s difficult to execute. It sure looks complicated enough, but it’s not flattering. Her hair and makeup are well done though.
Here she is with the designer.

| Mary-Kate & Ashley Olsen in vintage at the 2014 Met Gala: ancient or classic? | Added 10 years ago | Source: CeleBitchy |

Vintage Olsen Twins! And by ?vintage,? I mean they looked like 19th century ghosts who were haunting the 2014 Met Gala. Both Ashley and Mary-Kate Olsen wore vintage gowns that they picked up at Lily et Cie in Beverly Hills. Ashley?s look is vintage Chanel, MK?s is vintage Ferre. Both looks are? good God. So ancient.
Victoria Beckham wore her own Victoria Beckham design. She and David looked very matchy-matchy, and now I?m kicking myself for not putting these photos in the Gisele and Tom Brady post ? both couples dress alike, they coordinate to sort of a funny level.
Anna Kendrick in J. Mendel. Classic, pretty, boring.
Monica Bellucci in Dolce & Gabbana. Because some days you just feel like, ?F?k it, I?m going to wear a huge red lace cape.?
We had some requests for Sandra Lee. For those of you who don?t know her, she?s a Food Network cook (not chef) who is also dating the governor of New York. She?s the ?First Girlfriend.? She wore a custom Dara Lamb gown and OMG. THIS IS AWFUL.

| Amber Heard in Giambattista Valli & Johnny Depp at Met Gala: sweet or weird? | Added 10 years ago | Source: CeleBitchy |

|
|
Last night must have been one of the best night’s of Johnny Depp‘s life. Here was a perfect excuse to throw on a costume and escort his beautiful lady, Amber Heard, to the Met Gala. Amber wore Giambattista Valli haute couture. Her vibe reminded me very much of Angelina Jolie’s recent Elie Saab at the Oscars. The styling is completely different from Jolie, but Amber is still trying for a more sophisticated vibe. She looks good with a teased updo and strong red lips. Her jewelry is Fred Leighton. Amber didn’t fit in with the costume theme at all. Luckily, Johnny was there to make up for any lack of adventure on her part. Us Weekly declared that channeled Mr. Peanut in his tux with tails, little white gloves, and a cane. I can’t do any better than that description. He’s so quirky and eccentric and shameless.
Suki Waterhouse wore Burberry that looked like Marchesa. All those ruffles and tiers. I was actually okay with this dress because it fits the theme without going overboard. Then I saw the squished rack. No bueno. Suki’s hair and makeup is probably the best it’s ever looked. The blood red lips are ravishing. She’s having a blast.
Bradley Cooper walked the red carpet separately from Suki. He was wolfy in Tom Ford. His tux looks like it was tailored about 10 pounds of muscle ago. Dude looks uncomfortable.
Chrissy Teigen went for a subdued look in this gray Ralph Lauren gown with a ruffled halter neck. She dressed it up with some side boob and a side of classy John Legend. Chrissy gets the audience participation vote by choosing her hair extensions with much care on Twitter.

| Olivia Munn in Diane von Furstenberg at the Met Gala: lovely or too mature? | Added 10 years ago | Source: CeleBitchy |
|
|
|
|
|
Olivia Munn walked the red carpet at last night’s Met Gala in full screen siren mode. Olivia is newly single and looking to make a big splash, and she chose a canary yellow Diane von Furstenberg gown to make an impact. This dress falls flat and overwhelms her figure. The two-toned yellow is confusing. Even though there’s plenty of cleavage to be found, there’s also too much fabric in the overall dress. Dare I say that this dress ages Olivia? She’s only 33 years old, but this seems like a Sharon Stone number.
Olivia looks great from the shoulders up. Her hair is lush. Her makeup is appropriately dewy, and those freckles are always adorable. If she’d gone with a fresher, younger dress, she’d have had a more successful run last night.
Nicole Richie chose a Donna Karan Atelier dress. This funky, backless dress was made of custom-dyed velvet. She wore Louboutin shoes and House of Harlow 1960 jewelry. The lavender hair sets this look off just right. She looks a little spooky but fun.
Shailene Woodley wore a multi-print Rodarte dress that made her look like Mother Nature. That was probably the point because Shailene is such a hippy dippy girl. This dress is so busy from the sheer skirt with a leafy overlay all the way up to the velvety silver, off-the shoulder neckline. This dress is pure Shailene. If you like her, you’ll like this dress. If not? You catch my drift.

Margot Robbie had a style mishap in Prada. This dress, like many others last night, had too much going on. The white satin bra stood out under the blue transparent overlay with geometric details. The skirt looks like bathroom tile. Oh, so bad.

| Amy Adams in Oscar De La Renta at the Met Gala: pretty or cheap looking? | Added 10 years ago | Source: CeleBitchy |
|
|
|

|
#488405265 / gettyimages.com
Amy Adams was in silver strapless Oscar De La Renta for last night’s Met Gala. This is not her best look. We’ve seen Adams with bizarre looking bustlines in the past, and she often takes calculated fashion risks that aren’t too out there. This dress is a miss, in my opinion. It’s too one-note, the bodice is not pretty, and the fabric is too bunchy. Her hair is too severe too. Great earrings though.
Kirsten Dunst was in a killer black one-shoulder Rodarte. The dress featured an expertly draped velvet panel across the top that extended to one arm. The Death Star from Star Wars was printed on the skirt and tiny sequins dotted the gown in a celestial theme. I absolutely love this dress and think it’s perfect for the Met Gala. Well done.
Giuliana Rancic also wore black, with less success. Her gown is Rhea Costa Gown and she paired it with some kind of vest that I’m hoping is faux fur, but it may be real. Her makeup is way too overdone and she looks um, too tiny. I don’t want to sound concern-trolly but it’s hard not to notice.
#488408391 / gettyimages.com
Leighton Meester was in a complicated bronze Pucci gown that looks like Mrs. Roper’s night out. What is with all the 70s looks lately? The craftsmanship on that dress is impressive, it’s just more of an art piece than something that highlights the wearer. Something nice, I like how relaxed and happy she looks. That really goes far to helping her carry this look, which would otherwise weigh her down. I bet that dress is heavy.
#488405473 / gettyimages.com
Rosie Huntington Whitely hit all the right notes in Balmain. I know some will find this dress too busy, but I like how daring and bold this look is. The dress mixes leopard print with gold metallic belt-like stripes and yet somehow it works. It showcases her supernatural legs and she’s accessorizing with giant gold bamboo-look hoops. Amazing. Those matchy gladiator shoes have got to go though. The dress shouldn’t have to compete with the shoes.

| Rihanna in white Stella McCartney at the Met Gala: awful or fierce? | Added 10 years ago | Source: CeleBitchy |

|
|
|
Rihanna owned the red carpet at last night’s Met Gala. She can wear almost anything, and she proved it by making a Stella McCartney dress look good. I can’t think of a single person who could have pulled this dress off, but Rihanna is working it. Stella must be so pleased (and smug). Rihanna’s wearing so much fabric but still manages to look completely sexy. The boob darting is a little bit awkward, no? The shoulder padding is too strong, and the skirt is a little too drapey. This should have been a huge no-no, but Rihanna owns this dress. The statement necklace sets off the look well, and Rihanna’s hair and makeup is always perfect. This is a mediocre, dress that was styled well and worn by the best model possible.
Rita Ora arrived in a Donna Karan Atelier monstrosity. This dress looked straight out of an S&M fairy tale with silk tulle everywhere and asymmetical wrapping and details. You can tell she loved it, which counts for something. At least the Lorraine Schwartz jewels were simple.
Allison Williams is a conventionally pretty woman, and she did not stray too far from her comfort zone last night. She wore Oscar de la Renta with Fred Leighton jewels. The neon red color of the dress was was bold, but she kept a classic silhouette.
Florence Welch always goes for weird in fashion, but this dress somehow managed to be boring. This is a Valentino ensemble. She paired a boring sheath dress with a butterfly-covered jacket. With a little more tailoring, this could have been a sharper look.

| Taylor Swift in pink Oscar de la Renta at the 2014 Met Gala: classic or dated? | Added 10 years ago | Source: CeleBitchy |
|
|
|
|
|
Sarah Jessica Parker was going to be the lead lady of this post about Oscar de la Renta gowns at the 2014 Met Gala, but then I saw Taylor Swift?s look. There were rumors that Swifty was going to wear one of her go-to, favorite designers, J. Mendel. But she went for Oscar de la Renta instead, which I think was a good choice. She followed the dress code and looked like an old-school society swan. Like, this is how debutantes in the 1950s looked. Swifty really knew how to work her train too, and the bustle is really pretty. This suits her, and the whole look manages to look classic rather than dated. The only thing I would change? Her lip color. I don?t like the red lip with this Pink dress.
Sarah Jessica Parker was the co-chair of this year?s Met Gala (along with Bradley Cooper, which is weird, right?). SJP wore Oscar de la Renta, one of her favorite designers. I would imagine this is custom-made for her. I find it very costumey, especially with the way she?s styled it. The gloves are a bit much, but they?re probably for the dress code/theme. I hated her hair when I first saw it, but now that I?m really looking at it? I kind of love it. Her makeup looks good too. And her date was Andy Cohen!
Claire Danes had my least favorite Oscar de la Renta look of this year?s Met Gala. This dress feels like what it probably was: the afterthought gown, after the designers had worked on SJP and Swifty?s gowns. It just looks like the designers didn?t know where to go, when either half would have made a suitable start for one good gown. Either do taffeta OR velvet, not both. Also: Hugh Dancy looks really good with that beard.

| Naomi Watts in ombre Givenchy at the Met Gala: striking or strange? | Added 10 years ago | Source: CeleBitchy |
|
|
|
|
|
Last night’s Met Gala, in honor of the late British born designer Charles James, saw a huge turnout. We’ll be bringing you the fashion throughout the day. Unlike last year’s ill-executed “punk” theme, it was all about glamour this year, as James was known as “America’s first couturier.” Still, some women took risks, and this was the place to do it.
First off we have the lovely Naomi Watts in a bizarre ombre Givenchy gown that tapers to a see-through skirt. There’s a V shape right over her crotch area and the dress has a kind of avian/fish feel, with a scaled overlay that could pass as feathers. I might actually like this dress if the skirt wasn’t transparent, but as it is there’s too much going on. Compare this very daring look to how Naomi was dressed just the night before, at the Glaad awards. At least she switched it up and took risks.
In contrast, here’s Hayden Panettiere in a Dennis Basso strapless ball gown with a huge skirt, looking very cookie cutter but still gorgeous. Look at how happy she is! That dress actually has a giant flower across the entire front, which is unique and clever. It’s rare to see a pattern that takes up an entire gown like that. I love her perfectly constructed slightly messy upswept hair.
Dakota Johnson showed off her 50 Shades hair in a navy Jason Wu gown that was a bit too 70s for me. I think it’s the shiny nipple-baring top coupled with the spaghetti straps and high gloves. It’s all very disco meets couture.
Lake Bell was much more refined in a strapless red Tommy Hillfiger gown that wasn’t too fitted or loose. This looks amazing on her. The band of contrasting fabric on the bustline is mirrored in the incredible fishtail train. This was probably my favorite dress out of this current handful. Lake was there with her husband of just under a year, tattoo artist Scott Campbell.

| Beyonce in black Givenchy at the 2014 Met Gala: fabulous or unflattering? | Added 10 years ago | Source: CeleBitchy |

Here are photos of Beyonce and Jay-Z at the 2014 Met Gala. Beyonce wore Givenchy for the second year in a row ? remember last year?s utter disaster? I?m sorry, but Riccardo Tisci?s work for Givenchy is just not good. That being said, this Givenchy look is much better than last year?s, although that?s not saying much. I do like that Beyonce and Jay-Z stuck with the theme, which was supposed to be black-and-white and old-school glam. Jay looks really nice in his white jacket.
I was trying to figure out a few things as I looked through these photos. One: just how naked is Beyonce? The skirt of the dress isn?t lined, but are we actually seeing shadowy butt cheek and/or Beygina? I don?t think so. I think there?s some kind of lining or something in the crotch and butt area. Two: is that netted headpiece not really a headpiece? Is it actually just a netted piece that someone just stuck on her head for giggles? I ask because it doesn?t seem to be attached to anything?
As for the Givenchy look overall? it?s incredibly unflattering. Beyonce?s body has never looked better these days, and she?s at her thinnest in years. So why is she wearing something that makes her look 15 pounds heavier than she actually is? Also: the jewelry is too heavy for Bey.

I?m not sure that the House of Chanel really had the best night at last night?s Met Gala. Their standard-bearer was? Kristen Stewart. K-Stew wore Chanel Couture (as opposed to that dreadful Dallas collection which she now represents in an ad campaign). Thoughts? Let?s go head to toe. First, I don?t blame her for having bad hair. Her hair is dyed that stupid Manic Panic shade because she?s working on a film in NOLA. The hair couldn?t be helped, and she did the best (?the best?) she could with it.
As for the dress? there?s just too much going on. Too many tricks, too many gimmicks. I tried looking at the dress in just waist-up photos, and I actually kind of liked it. So, I basically want to rejigger this dress into something cleaner and less feathery. I also want to teach Kristen how to pose on a red carpet without making tight fists as a way to self-comfort. PS? I love the shoes.
Lily Allen wore Chanel Couture as well. God, this is so ugly and ancient. It makes Lily look like she?s 50 years old. The hair isn?t helping.
Anna Wintour wore Chanel as well. Wintour kept playing fast and loose with the theme, and many people believed the theme was strictly black-and-white. And then Anna showed up in this colorful frock. I don?t even like it.

| Jessica Alba in lace Diane Von Furstenberg at the Met Gala: staid or lovely? | Added 10 years ago | Source: CeleBitchy |

Here we have Jessica Alba in gold lace Diane Von Furstenberg deep v-neck gown. Her styling is so glam and pretty, and I love her accessories. To me this dress is underwhelming though. It has some amazing details, particularly the tiered waistline which leads to the flowing skirt. I think that this is more of an awards ceremony or premiere dress than something for the Met Gala. It’s very lovely, it’s just not a standout gown.

Lea Michele tried to stand out in the wrong way, her default way, in a shiny gold backless Altuzarra dress that showed way too much of her fake cleavage. The dress has some strange bunched fabric at the waist and also features a huge slit at the side. Thirsty. And she paired it with matching gold pumps! I do like her hair and makeup though, that’s something.
Lea’s Glee costar, Dianna Agron, was much less attention-grabbing in sequin black Miu Miu with an amazing purple band across the bustline. I love how this dress mixes contemporary with 20s styling, it’s incredible. This is how you do a plunging neckline, you make it striking without the threat of a nip slip. However I do dislike her poofy hair. I thought that trend died a while ago.

Kate Mara has been blonde since early this year, and it really does not suit her. Also not suiting her: this huge Valentino with a floral pattern that looks like a tacky 80s bedspread. Maybe this dress would have worked in a bolder color, but as it is I really dislike it.
Idina Menzel/Adele Dazim was in this kind of cheesy looking sequin and tulle white Donna Karan Atelier gown. It has a long train and she just looks uncomfortable in it. Plus her styling looks amateurish. Sideswept curly hair, bright red lipstick AND a pale eyeshadow with liquid eyeliner? That’s a prom level look and she deserves better. She’s still beautiful, I just would like to see her in a more subtle look.

| Anne Hathaway in red Calvin Klein at the 2014 Met Gala: boring or classic? | Added 10 years ago | Source: CeleBitchy |
|
|

|
|
Anne Hathaway was one of the most notable women at last year?s Met Gala ? she went all out in a bad-ass Valentino and she bleached her hair a punked-out white-blonde, befitting the theme of last year?s gala. This year?s theme was more conservative, so Annie opted for Calvin Klein, and the CK designer Francisco Costa was her date. I?m SHOCKED that Adam Shulman didn?t come to the gala wearing skinny tuxedo pants. Anyway, Annie looks really pretty here. I?m ready for her to grow out her hair and the red dress is so clean and simple, it?s almost a snoozefest. But she looks nice. Classic.
Zooey Deschanel in Tommy Hilfiger. Zooey collaborated with Hilfiger on an inexpensive mass-market line which recently debuted, so it makes sense that she wore Hilfiger. But my God, this dress is beneath her. It looks like a cheap prom dress. WTF?
Chloe Sevigny in Kenzo. This might be the saddest look of all. That hair says, ?I think I?m giving up.? The dress looks like vintage Escada, which is to say? dated and unflattering, and unworthy of Chloe.

Zoe Kravitz in custom Topshop. Apparently, Zoe wasn?t wearing underwear and the slit on the dress was too high and she was flashing her Kravitz beav to everyone at the Met Gala. Klassy! The dress looks like something Rihanna would wear (and has worn?), and Zoe as a blonde is? not the best.

| Kim Kardashian in Lanvin, with Kanye at the 2014 Met Gala: surprisingly good? | Added 10 years ago | Source: CeleBitchy |

No wonder Anna Wintour loves Kanye West ? he got the memo about the dress code and he dressed accordingly. After last year?s Givenchy disaster, Kim Kardashian opted for a rich, silk Lanvin gown in a rather pretty shade of blue. Kanye squired his lady admirably, and all in all? this appearance was WAY better than last year?s. I?d even say that Kim and Kanye might have been one of the top five best-dressed couples.
Which isn?t to say that there isn?t room for improvement with Kim?s look. I don?t really think it?s the most flattering silhouette for her, especially when you?re looking at her from any angle other than head-on. After losing so much weight in the past year, this is a dress that makes her hips and butt look heavier ? that?s what happens when you wear such heavy fabric, especially with pleats. But, the black belt defines her waist and you can tell that the top part was tailored for her. I also think the visible zipper cheapens the look, and I would have liked to see her wear different shoes and wear her hair up. But yeah? overall, this is a win for me. Crazy, I know. Kim and Kanye look nice together.

| Blake Lively & Ryan Reynolds in Gucci at the 2014 Met Gala: cute or try-hard? | Added 10 years ago | Source: CeleBitchy |

What a difference a few years makes, eh? Ryan Reynolds is now the kind of guy who walks on red carpets with his wife. And they wear matchy-matchy clothes by the same fashion house because they have matching modeling contracts. Ryan and Blake Lively both wore Gucci. They both look nice, and they look really, really happy to be on the Met Gala red carpet. Blake looks poured into her Gucci gown ? it really does hug every curve. I wouldn?t have put her in this pinkish/blush/nude shade, but it looks surprisingly good on her. Thoughts on her hair? I?m not into it ? it looks like they stopped styling it just a few minutes too soon.
Oh, I just saw that the dress basically has a built-in cape. I thought it was just a too-long train, but it?s a train AND a cape-like thing. That?s kind of cool. This dress is very old-school glam.
And here?s another cute couple: Diane Kruger and Joshua Jackson. For my money, they?re cuter than Ryan and Blake, but whatever. Diane wore Jason Wu for Hugo Boss. I like it. I don?t love it. Diane in ice blue… well, she looks very icy. It feels like she?s channeling Grace Kelly a bit. Joshua looks adorable in his tuxedo.

| Charlie Theron wears Dior, attends Met Gala with Sean Penn: goddess-chic? | Added 10 years ago | Source: CeleBitchy |

My mouth just fell open when I saw that The Fiercest Bitch In All The Land, Charlize Theron, brought SEAN PENN as her date to the 2014 Met Gala. I mean, of course, we all know that Charlize and Sean have been dating for more than four months. But to walk one of the biggest red carpets of the year together?! That?s huge. And it?s on HER terms too. This isn?t the Oscars, where Sean is on equal footing as an Oscar winner and Hollywood power player. This is the fashion world, where Charlize has been ruling for more than a decade. This feels more like Charlize showing off her man at the big event.
Anyway, Charlize and Sean not only came together, they stuck to the theme, which was supposed to be black-and-white. Anna Wintour even wanted all of the dudes to wear white-tie. I can only think that Charlize just dressed Sean Penn. Like, did she order his suit?! Charlize?s dress is Dior, but of course. Her dress is stunning, and I like the black jacket on her shoulders too. It?s a very sophisticated look from a woman who almost always looks great. PS? I love her hair and her jewelry.
Oh, and Marion Cotillard was there too, also in Dior (she?s a Dior Girl, just like Charlize and J-Law). I kind of think Marion got the short end of the stick from Dior ? Charlize got a goddess dress and Marion got a short party frock? It?s a cute dress, it?s just more appropriate for a movie premiere, not the Met Gala. PS? LOOK AT HER SHOES.
