Taking care of some last-minute holiday shopping, Hilary Duff hit up a few stores in Los Angeles on Monday afternoon (December 22). The ?So Yesterday? singer carried an iced tea beverage as she strolled out of one store and headed into another while paparazzi looked on.
Meanwhile, it?s almost been a year since Hilary and her husband Mike Comrie separated, though things have been pretty friendly as of late.
She told Health magazine, ?We have a 2-year-old together. We love each other. Obviously it wasn't a rash decision that we made. We really are just trying to figure out how we are the most happy ? whether together or apart ? and we're doing it as lovingly as possible.?
?We would hang out without Luca; we think it's important to keep a strong relationship no matter if we're married or not married. And we love our son. We both want to fight for happiness.?

I’ve always liked Emmy Rossum. She’s got a great set of legs, and she always seems willing to show off that super-cute cleavage of hers, which are pretty much my two biggest requirements for a hottie. But for some reason, Emmy’s not quite as famous as she could be. And I think I’ve finally figured […]

| Emma Watson named the #1 Celebrity Feminist of 2014: good choice? | Added 9 years ago | Source: CeleBitchy |

|
|
We?re in the midst of a lot of end-of-year listicles and Best-of-2014 summaries, some of which are really boring. But I found this one interesting: the Top Celebrity Feminists of 2014. The list was compiled by the Ms. Foundation and Cosmopolitan Magazine, and it was done by online poll. So? I?m actually shocked that Tom Hiddleston and Benedict Cumberbatch weren?t on the top of the list, considering the online presence of the dragonflies and Cumberbitches. But you know who else has a big online presence? Emma Watson?s fans. Thus, Emma was named the top celebrity feminist of 2014, mostly for her UN speech in support of the UN HeForShe campaign, which went viral several months ago. You can see the list of top celebrity feminists here.
Emma Watson was voted the top feminist of 2014 in a Ms. Foundation for Women online poll, conducted in partnership with Cosmopolitan.com, and it’s a well-deserved win. In 2014, the 24-year-old actress gave a rousing speech about gender equality to the United Nations, telling men, “Gender equality is your issue too.” In her role as a UN Goodwill Ambassador, she also helped launch the “He for She” campaign to work with men in ending violence against women. Watson’s speech also made Cosmopolitan.com’s list of the 2014 best moments for women.
“I want men to take up this mantle,” Watson said in her speech, “so their daughters, sisters, and mothers can be free from prejudice, but also so that their sons have permission to be vulnerable and human too ? reclaim those parts of themselves they abandoned and in doing so be a more true and complete version of themselves.”
Here are the top 10 2014 feminists, according to Ms. Foundation voters:
Emma Watson
Laverne Cox
Rachel Maddow
Beyonc
Cher
Amy Poehler
Tina Fey
Meryl Streep
Mindy Kaling
Ann Curry
“We celebrate all feminists every day, but today we’re giving a hat tip to celebrities who are helping to promote women’s equality,” Ms. Foundation President and CEO Teresa Younger said in a statement. “Every celebrity on the list has either embraced the term ‘feminist,’ spoken out for women’s equal rights, or battled against sexist oppression.”
[From Cosmo]
You know what? I don?t have a problem with this list at all. And I kind of like that we?re now compiling lists of feminists, you know? Emma?s speech went viral and she really did change the pop culture conversation about feminism. Laverne Cox is amazing and a committed activist for LGBT causes. Rachel Maddow is my girl. Beyonce has to be included or The Hive will burn the place down. Amy Poehler and Tina Fey are incredible women. Mindy Kaling is awesome. I enjoyed this list!

| Amy Adams was kicked off 'Today?: did she refuse to discuss the Sony Hack' | Added 9 years ago | Source: CeleBitchy |

|
|
Amy Adams was in NYC earlier this week to promote Big Eyes, which comes out on Christmas Eve in many theaters. Big Eyes is directed by Tim Burton and being distributed by The Weinstein Company. I kind of wish Harvey Weinstein would put some time and money behind Amy?s Best Actress campaign rather than focusing all of his attention to Benedict Cumberbatch, but that?s neither here nor there. The point I was trying to make is that Big Eyes is not a Sony project. It has nothing to do with Sony and the film was not affected in any way, shape or form by the Sony Hack. So, obviously, when Amy Adams went on the Today Show, all they wanted to talk about was the Sony Hack?
The Sony Pictures cyber terror attack has made everybody punchy. Amy Adams is in New York to promote the Tim Burton-directed Big Eyes, and after hosting Saturday Night Live, she stayed to do an interview segment on Today. I?m told that the attempt ended with the show pulling the segment, and left the Big Eyes star feeling sad-eyed by the way she was manhandled. All because she wasn?t comfortable answering questions about a Sony Pictures hack attack that had nothing to do with her.
I?m told that Adams stayed in New York an extra day to do the Today booking, but just before, her team was told she would be asked about the Sony attack. She came to the set, and again a producer told her she would be asked. She replied that she would prefer to avoid the subject, given this was a four-minute interview. But she was told that Today is a news organization ? something that was said as they engaged in a segment about dog grooming in which a hound was having its teeth brushed ? and she was told no one dictates their interviews.
Meanwhile, Today had done a previously taped segment with American Sniper?s Bradley Cooper and Clint Eastwood, and didn?t ask them ? even though Cooper starred with Adams (both got Oscar noms) in the Sony-distributed American Hustle. That film showed up in stolen emails and stories were built over the actresses, Adams and Jennifer Lawrence, making less money than their male counterparts.
Adams didn?t refuse to answer the question and she didn?t balk, I?m told. Prepared to explain away a scandal she played no role in, Adam was seen live in the orange room, just before she was to be interviewed. But the show bounced her, pulling her segment and completely wasting her time. Adams doesn?t have a diva rep, but either way she was prepared to answer, said insiders. It sounds like the show treated her much the way that Walter Keane (Christoph Waltz) did her character Margaret Keane in Big Eyes. Which, she might have gotten to mention had the Today crew been a little nicer, opens Christmas Day through The Weinstein Company. Now they are spinning it to the Daily News that Adams was at fault and behaved like some kind of hellcat, but it sounds to me like it was the Today gang that behaved boorishly. Hard to imagine they would have treated Angelina Jolie that way, but then again her film that goes up against Big Eyes, Unbroken, is backed by Today?s sister movie company at NBCUniversal.
[From Deadline]
Um, what the hell? Now that I?ve read the whole thing? I can see why the Today Show might have wanted to ask her a few questions specifically about American Hustle and what the Sony Hack revealed about the pay inequities, but I think it?s interesting that they didn?t ask Bradley Cooper any questions about that when he was on. And besides, I believe that Amy would have taken the Sony Hack questions and answered them in a simple, non-committal way. The Today Show producers just sound like such d-bags here.
Anyway, The Weinstein Company and the Today spokesperson both released statements:
The Weinstein Company statement: ?We firmly stand behind Amy Adams. We?ve been lucky enough to have had her talents grace several of our films. We are certain her fellow actors and directors would all agree, she is nothing but the consummate professional both on and off set. Amy decided to speak up for herself and express her disappointment that Today would feel the need to ask her a question she did not feel comfortable , and rather than respect her opinion or continue the discussion, the reaction was to pull her appearance from the show.?
The Today Show spokesperson: ?As a news program, the Today show doesn?t allow guests to dictate restrictions on interviews. In this case, after hours of discussion we felt uncomfortable with the demands being made and we determined the best course of action for all parties involved was to cancel the interview.?
[From Deadline]
??After hours of discussion??? Good God, how long did they have her in that waiting room? And answer me this, Today Show: why didn?t Bradley Cooper get the same line of questioning? Anyway, I totally believe Amy?s side of things.

| Rachel McAdams debuts shorter ombre hair: cool or weird? | Added 9 years ago | Source: CeleBitchy |

Above is a photo of Rachel McAdams at the airport in LA this weekend. If you didn’t tell me this was Rachel McAdams, I would have no idea who this was. That’s because she’s switched up her shoulder length blonde hair to that longish bob that’s all the rage now, along with dyeing it ombre with light tips. Below is what Rachel looked like in October at Canada’s Walk of Fame Awards. (Check out the gallery for a photo of her with a lady mountie!) She may be growing her hair out and showing the roots, but there are also photos of her as a blonde in November so I think she dyed it.
This isn’t the first time Rachel has sported dip-dyed hair. Remember the Pink tips she had back when she was with Ryan Gosling? I always think of her with Pink hair when I remember the two of them together. I mean I saw The Notebook, but this is the image that comes to mind, not that iconic “kissing in the rain” picture. This photo is from January, 2007. Memories.
Rachel switches up her hair often. She had red hair earlier this year and then she went darker blonde before going lighter blonde. Right now all her films are in post-production so she’s trying a more daring look. (She could have this hair for her upcoming role in True Detective, as US Magazine points out.) I’m not too fond of the cut, it looks shaggy, but she just came off a flight. It’s possible she took her extensions out and is trying to grow out her natural hair.
Also she could be trying to go incognito. It probably works most of the time! I think she’s pulling off this look. It’s very European. I wouldn’t have the guts to try this with my hair, I have blonde security blanket hair, but she’s making me want a big tartan scarf.
Here she is at the airport on November 18:

| Ryan Gosling & Eva Mendes are 'barely talking' Eva has pushed him away' | Added 9 years ago | Source: CeleBitchy |

OK Magazine says Ryan Gosling and Eva Mendes are pretty much over. I know what you?re thinking: ?OK Magazine? RLY?? But hear me out! OK Magazine was actually the first weekly to confirm Eva?s pregnancy over the summer. Star, Us Weekly and People Magazine actually raced to get to second place on that particular piece of reporting. Which says to me that OK Magazine might actually have a source close to Eva or Ryan. I know that makes no sense, but weirder things have happened. Anyway, OK Mag?s sources say that three months after giving birth to Esmeralda, Eva doesn?t even want to be around Ryan anymore.
They welcomed their daughter Esmeralda Amada three months ago but it seems the pressure of being new parents may be too much for Ryan Gosling and Eva Mendes. OK! Magazine reported Monday the couple have been living separate lives recently. The 40-year-old actress has been struggling at home in Los Angeles with the baby while her 34-year-old actor boyfriend has been filming The Nice Guys for extended periods in Georgia, it was claimed.
The publication was first to report that the brunette was expecting a child with her Beyond The Pines co-star. Neither of their reps had any comment when contacted by MailOnline.
A source told the publication: ‘It’s more than just run-of-the-mill stress that comes with having a newborn. They’re barely talking.’ The source added, ‘Eva has pushed him away.’
Eva reportedly refused to fly to Atlanta with their young daughter to spend time with Ryan. An insider told OK!, ‘So instead of coming home every night to them, he’s jetting back and forth just so he can see his daughter.’
The couple, who started dating in 2011 after filming A Place Beyond The Pines together, welcomed baby Esmeralda on September 12. And the actress has made no secret of how fatigued she has been with her newborn, revealing to Ellen DeGeneres, ‘I’m so incredibly tired.’
The couple kept a very low profile during the pregnancy and haven’t been pictured out together in public for over a year. Eva has only been seen out and about once since the birth – in November – and there are claims that Ryan is worried she is becoming a recluse.
An insider told OK!: ‘The last time Ryan was in LA, he told her that she and Esmeralda needed to get outside for some fresh air, but she just wouldn’t listen.’
And if the couple do decide to part ways, it’s claimed that Eva would fight for full custody, with an insider saying, ‘Eva has been the primary, hands-on parent with Ryan away working so much, so she believes full custody is warranted.’
[From The Daily Mail]
I remember this Radar story from when Eva was still pregnant ? a source insisted that the pregnancy was unplanned, and that Ryan and Eva had actually been going through a breakup and makeup cycle when she got pregnant and Ryan was ?surprised.? The source also insisted that Eva desperately wanted to marry Ryan and he wasn?t into it. I don?t really know what to believe, but I?ve always thought they were a weird, mismatched couple and it wouldn?t surprise me if the pregnancy was a ?surprise? during a breakup, and it also wouldn?t surprise me if SURPRISE, a baby isn?t enough to hold Ryan and Eva together forever. Or even one more year.

| Angelina Jolie talks Christmas plans, Hillary Clinton & military interventions | Added 9 years ago | Source: CeleBitchy |

Angelina Jolie has some new interviews out, and I have no idea if she did these weeks ago, before the pox on her house, or whether she has reporters coming to her home while she?s recovering from the chicken pox, or perhaps she?s giving phone interviews while she?s recovering. This NYDN piece suggests that the reporter was actually in the room with Jolie, so take that as Brangeloonie Proof of something. You can read the full NYDN piece here. Some highlights:
Filming By the Sea with Brad: ?It brought us closer? The last time we worked together, it was a lighter movie. So sharing something in a deep artistic way, it?s something I think is necessary for artistic couples. I hadn?t realized how good it would be for us.?
She & Brad yell at each other a lot in the movie: ?The scenes on ?By the Sea? were so tense that we let out (any stress) on camera. There?s really heavy fighting in it, so I think sometimes the crew felt like, ?Mom and Dad are having a fight!? ? because Brad and I are the producers too. Success or failure, it?s all on us. But it was all oddly freeing. We both wanted to do something as artists … and push each other. So we got this opportunity to go out there and play. I had missed being that free as an actor, and to do that depth of work, and what a pleasure it was to do it with Brad, because I really saw him as an actor, not just the man I loved. In the end, it was an amazing thing, because there?s no actor who wants to help me more, or push me more as an actress, or give me more as a director or writer than my husband, and there?s no man I want to see succeed more than him. We were so there for each other.?
Her Christmas plans: ?Our tradition is, well, being somewhat traditional,? Jolie reveals, even cozily referring to herself and Pitt as ?Mom and Dad? when detailing their household holiday. ?Dad is the main one to deal with the tree, Mom and the kids help decorate, and then we put all the kids to bed. And, as anybody who has a big family knows, [the gifts] take a really long time! You have to be very organized when you?re wrapping them and putting presents around the tree. And you have to make sure no one gets up and leaves before everyone else is done. It?s all a bit military! We?re constantly cleaning up the wrapping paper and getting coffee, like any other parent.?
Do the kids get crazy presents? ?We make a point not to spoil them, but there?s usually that one item they’ve been wanting for a long time that we?ve held back until Christmas. They?ve each got that big thing.?
On soldiers and war: ?Any time a soldier goes to war it should be supported, and they should be able to feel good about their service to their country, regardless of what the government?s choices are. But there are certain wars that I would be very hesitant about, wars that aren?t clear on the need for the soldiers on the ground and the tactics being used. It?s very difficult for soldiers today, because they?re not seeing the outcomes promised. We haven?t been able to focus on prevention of conflict, on political solutions. We owe them that, so we?re not putting them in harm?s way to solve problems that we are not solving politically.?
If Hillary Clinton becomes President, will Jolie serve as Secretary of State? ?Who could say anything but ?Yes??? she replies with a grin.
[From the NY Daily News]
Calm your jets, Angelina didn?t just endorse Hillary Clinton! If anything, when Angelina talks about finding political solutions to problems rather than military solutions, she sounds surprisingly dove-ish (while Hillary is certainly more hawkish). I?ve always thought Angelina?s foreign policy is probably more neoconservative, in that she thinks Western countries should be more involved (militarily, politically, economically) in so-called third world countries. She?s the polar opposite of the recent rise in neo-isolationism (which we?re going to hear more about if Rand Paul runs, which I think he will).
As for their Christmas plans? I feel like she?s making an effort to sound more traditional than they really are. I?ll buy that that they do the tree and that the kids don?t have mountains of presents and all that, but I bet they?re not roasting chestnuts on an open fire, etc.
There?s also a new interview with Women?s Weekly, an Australian mag. The quotes are blah ? go here to read. She says the same old stuff, nurturing their family, blah blah.

| Russell Crowe thinks it's a myth that there are no good parts for older actresses | Added 9 years ago | Source: CeleBitchy |
|
|
|
|
|
Bedhead & I didn?t coordinate stories, I swear! Earlier today, Bedhead covered the Isabella Rossellini interview where she literally said ?I really don?t work any more as an actress. I am old, and there are no roles for older people.? And now Russell Crowe is saying that the lack of work for actresses over the age of 35 is a flat-out myth. Crowe spoke to an Australia publication and he was asked about the complaints from some actresses about how little work there is for middle-aged or older actresses. His response was just to dismiss it out of hand. Oh, Rusty. You idiot.
Oscar winner Russell Crowe says Hollywood’s’ leading ladies need to act their age if they want career longevity in the notoriously ageist industry. In an interview with The Australia Women’s Weekly on Monday the forthright 50-year-old, who’s directorial dbut The Water Diviner hits screens on Boxing Day, gave his take on the issue.
‘I think you’ll find that the woman who is saying that [the roles have dried up] is the woman who at 40, 45, 48, still wants to play the ingnue, and can’t understand why she’s not being cast as the 21 year-old,’ he said.
The Gladiator star, whose showbiz career has spanned 44 years, says success is possible for men and women- at any age- and the belief that it’s harder for older women is a myth.
‘Meryl Streep will give you 10,000 examples and arguments as to why that’s bulls***,’ he says. ‘So will Helen Mirren, or whoever it happens to be. If you are willing to live in your own skin, you can work as an actor. If you are trying to pretend that you’re still the young buck when you’re my age, it just doesn’t work.’
But for father of two Crowe his new role as a director marks a change in his perspective as he hopes if the movieis a box office hit he’ll be able to film again in his home country Australia – and spend more his sons Charlie, 10 and Tennyson, eight.
‘Even through the largest periods of success in my life, my principle aim ? when I finish the job ? has always been to get home,’ he told The Guardian on Monday. ‘To go to the bush and, more recently, to be with my kids.’
[From The Daily Mail]
My argument: it?s not that 40-year-old women are upset that they?re not being cast as the ingnue, it?s that the ONLY roles available to many actresses are the ingnue roles. It?s not a matter of ?actresses can?t accept their age? it?s a matter of poor quality parts for women of every age. I mean, of course there are examples to prove Crowe?s point as well, most notably? his good friend Nicole Kidman. Nicole has been stuck in this holding pattern of playing perpetually 33-year-old characters for the past decade and that?s partly on her and partly on the stupid casting directors who would rather deal with a 45-year-old Botox-face playing 33 than actually hiring a 33-year-old actress. Still, Russell is 50 years old and he?s still being cast as the lead in major studio films, year after year. He?s not playing the young buck? because he doesn?t have to. Because the roles get richer and the scripts are better for men past the age of 35. No one can say the same for women.
