| Jennifer Lawrence is the 'most valuable actor' for the second year in a row | Added 9 years ago | Source: CeleBitchy |

I genuinely enjoy the ?most valuable? lists. Then again, I?m a gauche American and I love talking about money in general, and since we Americans are obsessed with being seen as a meritocracy, the Most Valuable list is perfect. Not only is it about money, it?s about how much money various actors bring in plus their star power/likeability. And once again, if you?re a studio and you want to make money on the shoulders of an actor, you should totally hire the young woman covered in Dorito dust, Jennifer Lawrence. You can see Vulture?s list of Most Valuable Actors here.
Vulture.com today released its fourth annual Most Valuable Stars list and Jennifer Lawrence took the top spot for the second year in a row. ?Put very simply, she is the leading movie star of her generation,? Vulture?s editors write. The list ranks Hollywood?s 100 most valuable movie stars based on an exclusive formula that weighs a variety of factors including domestic and international box office, Twitter mentions, Oscar nominations, critical respect, feedback from Hollywood insiders, and a star?s overall ?likability? (as determined by E-Poll).
The top three spots on the list remain unchanged from last year, with Jennifer Lawrence followed by Robert Downey Jr. and Leonardo DiCaprio, who kept his place despite not releasing a film in the last year. Bradley Cooper rose to No. 4, thanks to the megahit American Sniper, which was 2014?s highest-grossing film domestically, followed by ?franchise Viagra? Dwayne Johnson at No. 5, Tom Cruise at No. 6, Hugh Jackman at No. 7, Sandra Bullock at No. 8, Channing Tatum at No. 9, and Scarlett Johansson at No. 10, moving up 21 spots on the list from last year.
Debuts on the list this year include Amy Schumer (No. 39), Margot Robbie (No. 88), and Idris Elba (No. 97). The most notable gainer on the list was Chris Pratt, who jumped 57 points to No. 11 and also topped every other star’s likability score, even those of beloved veterans like Tom Hanks and Sandra Bullock.
[From Vulture]
Can you imagine the likability/value of a film starring J-Law and Channing Tatum? OMG. Someone needs to put them in a movie together, stat! Vulture also had a comparison list for the top ten between 2014 and 2015. Angelina Jolie and Brad Pitt were on the top ten of the 2014 list, but dropped off the top ten of 2015 list. Tom Hanks also dropped off top ten too. How in the world did Chris Pratt not make the top ten? It seems like he?s the male J-Law. And yes, I side-eye the inclusion of Tom Cruise at #6. Really? Just goes to show you, his movies are still making crazy money overseas, thus he’s “valuable.”
And if you have a few minutes, check out J-Law gently handling the awkward flirtations of Olly Murs. I feel bad for him because he?s a big deal in the UK but Jennifer literally has no idea who he is. She thinks he’s just some random BBC guy.

| Victoria Beckham on her models: 'they?re thin, that doesn't mean they?re ill' | Added 9 years ago | Source: CeleBitchy |

Victoria Beckham has a profile and interview in The Telegraph to promote her VVB line, which is a more accessible branch of her fashion brand. “Accessible” is of course extremely relative, her VVB fashion is still wildly expensive, dresses are around $1,000, but they’re not astronomically priced like some of her ready to wear pieces. She’s hoping to branch out with a “high street brand” so that those of use who can only spend a fraction of that on clothing can actually own a VB dress. In her interview with The Telegraph, Victoria talks about the rumors that her early work was actually co-designed by Roland Mouret (because her dresses looked so much like his, in actuality she just hired some of his people) and about criticism of her line. She takes it seriously and into consideration, which is rare to hear.
On rumors that Roland Mouret ghost designed her line
I?m very thankful to Roland, if it wasn?t for him I wouldn?t have met Mel or Tracy [her heads of collections and sourcing], but he?s never had anything to do with the collections. I knew what everyone was thinking and what the whispers were, of course I knew.
On if she reads reviews of her line
I [read them] as soon as they come in, so I am very aware. I think people who say they don?t read everything are probably lying, people who say they don?t care are probably lying. There?s nothing wrong with constructive criticism, and I learn from that and better myself. I?m not expecting anyone to be sycophantic in any way, I never expected that.
On Internet comments about 17 year-old model, Peyton Knight, being too thin
I wasn?t the only show she did, I wasn?t the only designer to use her. Our casting director spoke to the [model] agencies, and we know that all our girls are healthy. They?re young, they?re thin, but that doesn?t mean they?re ill. People are mean on social media, whoever you are. It?s a shame people have to be that way.
On her work with the UN
For whatever reason, people will listen to what I have to say, and so I can speak on behalf of these incredibly brave, strong women. I can tell people not just how terrible the situation is, but that we?re really making a difference.
[From The Telegraph]
I don’t blame Victoria for using the same models everyone else in the industry does, or for following the same very small, very young aesthetic. It’s more an issue with the high fashion “look” and it’s easy to criticize Beckham for following that because she’s a celebrity and is high profile. While I agree with her that just because these young women are thin it doesn’t mean they’re ill, I like France’s solution to institute a height and weight guideline for models so that those with a BMI under 18 are excluded. This would allow thin but not underweight models to walk the catwalk and would discourage models from getting extremely tiny. A 5’7? model should be at least 115 pounds, which sounds pretty reasonable and not like they’re excluding thin but still healthy women. (Victoria is reportedly 5’4? tall and 108 pounds, which puts her BMI at 18.5.)
Here’s the specific model who was mentioned, Peyton Knight, on the runway for Victoria Beckham Spring 2016. In this photo, and in other photos, she just looks very young to me. I’m including some more photos from that runway below.

| Rita Ora: 'I feel my strongest onstage' I start feeling like a superhero' | Added 9 years ago | Source: CeleBitchy |

|
Rita Ora covers the December issue of Self, which is just bizarre to me. She’s promoting her upcoming second album, which has been delayed at least once and for which I could find no exact release date online, and the brands she’s representing (Calvin Klein, Roberto Cavalli, and Adidas line she designed). You have to admire her hustle. Rita is a legend in her own mind, and she’ll tell you about it. She also talks about herself in the third person, which I appreciate as it’s an easily mocked trait. Here’s some of what she told Self:
On her eventful year
This year has been eventful, that?s for sure. I finished my album and I?m so proud of it. And this was the first time I?ve done a show like X Factor UK, where it?s all live. I?ve just expanded as an artist.
On her album
I?m treating this as if it were my debut. It?s like I?m starting from scratch. This is the first time everyone will see who Rita Ora is. Artistically, I felt like when I first got signed, it was a race. I was just trying to please everybody, not realizing that it really should be about knuckling down to who you are as an artist.
On working hard and staying positive
Our parents taught us to respect the people around us. So my work ethic and the way people perceive me?it?s very important to leave a good impression. If I do have a bad day, I don?t like putting it on other people. It?s important to be positive.
On “feeling like a superhero”
I feel my strongest onstage. I still, to this day, do not know anything better. And when I?ve been really good with my body?no alcohol, no late nights, watching my diet, drinking water ? I start feeling like a superhero!
Sleep is important, but she still indulges
I?ve never been more grateful for sleep than I am at this point. I used to hate it. It took a lot to mentally calm me down. But now I travel with a candle and a little lavender pillow. Obviously, I?m like any other twentysomething: I like to have a drink after my show and things like that, but it?s in moderation. It?s one of those things where the band goes out later and gets hammered, and you?ve got to be the one who just goes to bed.
On the rigors of her profession
It?s like you?re an athlete. I?m not running a marathon, but I?m doing it in my own way. You really have to take care of your body so you can survive.
She wants to do it all
I see myself as a 360 artist, not just one-laned. I like to do everything. I have this vision of building an empire and leaving it to my family.
[From Self]
She dreams big and she’s getting a lot of press, I’ll give her that. We “see who Rita Ora is,” as she put it, and she’s got an inflated sense of self for sure. I guess that’s what it takes to be successful in her industry. There aren’t a lot of wallflowers who become singer/actresses.
As for what she says about feeling like a superhero when she’s sober and on stage, if she’s talking about performing as an exercise and specifically choreographed dancing on stage I can understand that. I love to do Zumba, it’s so fun and doesn’t even feel like you’re working out, and my latest fitness kick is doing dance games on the Xbox and Playstation. (Just Dance 2014 on the XBox 360 is better and less glitchy than the JD games on the Playstation 4.) I can’t imagine how much of an adrenaline rush it must be to dance and sing on stage in front of a live audience. It would be terrifying as well, but I doubt that much can scare Rita.
PopSugar has some of Rita’s workout moves, straight from her trainer. They involve planks, squats and burpees. I hate burpees so much.

| Claire Danes: 'It's OK to work at being attractive, whatever that means to you' | Added 9 years ago | Source: CeleBitchy |

Claire Danes covers the December issue of Allure, and as it turns out, the cover interview is pretty good. I?m okay with Claire these days ? a few years ago, when I was a Homeland superfan, I was definitely more of a Claire fan-girl, but these days I don?t watch Homeland and so I?m sort of over her. Not in a mean way, just in a ?oh, she?s still there? sort of way. One of the things about Claire is that she usually a boring interview. The rare times her interviews do make news, it?s because she?s made some kind of reference to how she ran off with Billy Crudup when he was with then-pregnant Mary Louise Parker. Unfortunately, Claire doesn?t reference that with Allure! Some highlights from the cover story:
Her now-infamous cry-face: ?I?m very vain about my performance. I want to give as honest a performance as I can. But I?m not so worried about being regarded as beautiful when I?m playing a character. I have plenty of vanity in my life. I want to look pretty in the world. But I can be this bottomless pit. I know some of the most beautiful women on the planet ? unequivocally, objectively friggin? gorgeous ? and they are rife with insecurity and self doubt, and you just think, ?Well how can that be?’ I?m attractive enough. I can do the work I want to do. I?ve found a wonderful man who wants to make out with me. I?m good.?
Makeup rules: ?It?s either eyes or lips. It?s like legs or boobs: You shouldn?t do both. That?s always the first question when you sit down to get ready for the night.?
Bodyshaming, body criticism: “It’s just so ingrained in us, the idea that we should take up the right amount of space, literally and figuratively. I’ve wrestled with this my whole life, as just a person in the world and as somebody who makes images. It’s OK to want to look and feel your best. It’s OK to work at being attractive, whatever that means to you. And it’s also OK to not expect to be defined by that. It’s OK to be powerful in every way: to be big, to take up space. To breathe and thrive.”
Her younger self: “I didn?t have many opportunities to chill and waste time. I was working all the time, and I was getting a little cuckoo? I do feel like I’ve gotten younger as I’ve aged. It’s a very young mistake to assume that life is very serious. I get the joke now.”
She gives her son manicures: “I got swag from a pre-Emmy party, and it was a bunch of Essie nail polishes. Cyrus discovered them, so then I started trying to paint Cyrus’s nails… and it was really hard. They’re really small nails. But I suddenly had a new, deep respect for manicurists.”
She?s an obsessive plucker: “Pluck my eyebrows. I love plucking. I’m quite fastidious about that. I get very anxious when there’s a rogue hair.”
[From Allure & People Mag]
I too am an obsessive eyebrow plucker. The bushy eyebrow/Scouse brow trend drives me crazy. Even as I?m sitting here right now, thinking about eyebrows, I can feel my anxiety creep in that I?ve got some rogue hairs going AWOL from the brows. TIGHTEN UP! I also like what she says about body criticism and women feeling that they can?t or shouldn?t take up too much space. And I enjoy the ?eyes or lips? thing. I?ve never really thought about it like that, although I don?t know as much about makeup as CB. When I used to wear makeup, I would choose eyes over lips just as a default.

| Tina Fey isn't 'worried?: 'Getting in trouble with the Internet is not real' | Added 9 years ago | Source: CeleBitchy |

Tina Fey and Amy Poehler have a new film, Sisters. They play sisters (obvs) and Amy Poehler is the sister with her sh-t together and Tina plays the trainwreck sister. They throw a raging party at their parents? house and that?s the movie. It looks like silly fun, but I?m not sure how well it will do with a December 18 release date. I mean, that?s prime Oscar-bait-release time. I fear the film will get buried in a week, considering Star Wars: The Force Awakens comes out at Christmas. Anyway, Tina has a new interview with The Advocate. She chats about her close friendship with Amy, writing gay characters on The Unbreakable Kimmy Schmidt and more. Some highlights:
On her womance with Amy Poehler: ?With a w? I like that. Yes, and what makes it work is that from the moment we met each other in Chicago in 1992, we?ve had tremendous respect for each other. We started on the same improv team, and we were put together like two beautiful baby lions in a cage who miraculously did not have the impulse to eat each other. What makes it great now is that the only time we see each other is when we work on things ? hosting the Golden Globes, doing Sisters ? so those experiences are exciting and fun. We?re both thrilled to be there, and hopefully that?s reflected in the work. She and I haven?t really talked about this, but I don?t know if we could ever do a series together. We?re both alphas who like to do our own thing and then meet up occasionally.?
On an Amy-Tina love story: ?Ooh, maybe we could do a lesbian period piece like a comedic version of Carol, that movie with Cate Blanchett. Really, we should just do a movie with all the women of SNL and set it on the Isle of Lesbos.?
Whether Tituss Burgess?s Kimmy Schmidt character is too stereotypical: ?I know people like Titus. If a person exists, it?s fair game. Titus makes Barbie clothes, for example, and that?s based on an old gay friend of mine who worked as a cater-waiter when he first moved to New York. He was too broke to go out, so he?d literally sit inside and sew Barbie clothes to kill time. I try to base everything in some kind of truth. I don?t worry about what the Internet says. Getting in trouble with the Internet is not real. The Internet is not a force you have to obey.?
What happens when people get offended: ?Well, there?s no consideration of context in comedy these days. There?s also a dangerous desire to silence people when they say something you don?t like. If someone has a crazy opinion, I would prefer they let me hear it so that I can disagree and know who I?m dealing with.?
[From The Advocate]
?I don?t worry about what the Internet says. Getting in trouble with the Internet is not real. The Internet is not a force you have to obey.? That?s a really great perspective, and I also agree with her about ?context in comedy.? Tina has gotten her fair share of ?backlash? and internet grumbles over the years, but she stayed true to who she is and what she finds funny, so people can like or leave it. Oh, and I would totally watch a lesbian period comedy starring the women of SNL. Tina should totally pitch that to a studio.

| Bella Thorne offers up a blind item about a Mean Girl: 'she's very, very mean' | Added 9 years ago | Source: CeleBitchy |
|
|
|
|
|
Decked out in a really cute Alice + Olivia dress, actress and singer Bella Thorne is the cover girl for the December/January issue of Seventeen, hitting stands on Tuesday, November 24. In an interview with the magazine, the 18-year-old Shake It Up star talks about the lessons in love she’s learned that have strengthened her bond with her current squeeze, 23-year-old actor Gregg Sulkin. Basically, the key to a good relationship is staying the hell away from your partner’s phone (good advice, if you ask me.) Bella says: “?An ex of mine and I knew each other’s phone passwords, and he was constantly going through my phone. I learned not to do that because anything can be misread. Gregg has my password, but he doesn’t go through my phone.”
She’s doing great on the love front and has proven she can endure the tough times, discussing the rough times in her youth where she, her 3 siblings and her mother were forced to live off of food stamps after the death of her father.
I don’t think anybody really knew ? it wasn’t a very obvious thing. I’ve never really talked about it. I wasn’t hiding it, and it wasn’t like, ‘Oh, I’m embarrassed because we don’t have money.’ It was, ‘Oh, we don’t have money, so we’re going to work that much harder.’ It was scary, though, because you really want those jobs. It’s a different hunger when you want your family to eat.
[From Seventeen]
Bella, who played a very convincing mean girl in The Duff, may have drawn from personal experience to get into the role. She tells Seventeen that, despite having many young famous friends in her posse, even she can’t avoid having to deal with a real-life mean girl.
She’s in the business, and she’s very, very mean. I stay away from her at all costs. I never say hello to her. Her siblings are not mean like she is. It’s just her. One of the reasons I don’t like her is because she’s been a billionaire since she was very little, and she’s never had to work for anything in her life.
[From Seventeen]
Even though Bella’s lips are sealed, speculation still runs high regarding the identity of this mystery mean girl. When you think of wealthy young celebrities, one might immediately think of Kylie and/or Kendall Jenner, but many a photo has made the rounds of Bella and Kylie out and about, including this one, posted on Bella’s Instagram from New York Fashion Week. The same goes for her fellow Disney Channel alum Miley Cyrus and even, jumping networks, former Nickelodeon star Ariana Grande is a good friend (and isn’t the product of billionaire parents). It seems the only names floating around that might remain viable possibilities are Bates Motel’s Nicola Peltz or Gigi Hadid (not as likely, as the model’s younger sister Bella is part of the “Thorne squad” – and the pair made headlines a few months ago with a little aviation mishap.) Thoughts? Speculate away!
