As for the film, ?The Paperboy,? the plot revolves around a reporter who returns to his Florida hometown to investigate a case involving a death row inmate.
The thriller also stars Matthew McConaughey and Zac Efron and is set for a 2012 release.

The grand finale to the Crop Over celebration, this public holiday is a summer street carnival where you can watch featured “Kadooment bands” dressed in costumes, designers competing for the Designer of the Year award, and revelers parade by on their way from National Stadium to Spring Garden Highway. You can also join locals and visitors alike in the “jump-up”, a joyous celebration and dance through the streets to calypso music. At Spring Garden, Barbadians continue with the festivities with more music, food, and drinks. Some decide to even take a dip at a nearby beach. Kadooment Day symbolizes and marks the end of the sugar cane harvest.
Basically, everyone gets drunk and watches girls in bikinis parade around in the street. The only difference between this and spring break is the outfits you perform simulated sex in are fancier and more jewel encrusted. That’s about it really.

The Daily Beast has a new interview with Heidi Montag and Spencer Pratt, the former stars of MTV reality shows Laguna Beach and The Hills. These two faked a wedding in 2008 and when their show was canceled last year they faked a breakup and then tried to sell a fake adultery story to the tabloids. Spencer half-faked a breakdown, they tried to sell or fake a sex tape (that gratefully never materialized) and then when all else failed they admitted they were totally broke and had wasted at least $10 million dollars. Oh and last year Heidi had ten plastic surgeries in one day and then after her surgeon died in a car accident she immediately went to the press crying about her “plastic surgery disasters.” (Whereas before her surgeon’s death she was on the news with him singing his praises.) She also tried to launch a music career that tanked.
In this latest interview, the gruesome twosome admit that their breakup was fake and that they never spent a day apart despite all those tabloids and staged photos. They’re now broke, living for free in one of their parents’ houses and they wish they’d saved their money instead of squandering it. Heidi explains that she saw buying all those luxury goods as an investment, like Kim Kardashian or something.

On how they blew all their millions

?We never had any!? said Spencer in response to the money question. Meaning, it went out as quickly as it came in. Spencer estimated they spent $2 million on Heidi?s ill-fated pop-music career, hiring writers, producers, and engineers who worked with Rihanna, Nicki Minaj, and Lady Gaga. There were lots of clothes, too. ?I probably spent a million dollars on suits and fancy clothes,? Spencer said. ?My whole million-dollar wardrobe?I would never wear that again. They?re props. Everything we were doing, we were buying props. I bought a big blue monster truck just to drive it on The Hills for an episode. Never drove it again.?
Spencer?who previously appeared on 2005?s short-lived reality series The Princes of Malibu?grew up with privilege and private schools in Los Angeles; Heidi was raised in tiny Crested Butte, Colo., with little money and lots of megachurches. ?I should have known growing up and not having any money ever that I should have kept every dollar that I had,? Heidi said. ?I thought I was investing in myself and my brand. Like Kim.? As in Kardashian, who came up often during the interview. Heidi continued: ?When she buys these clothes, she?s investing in herself. Because she is a big brand and is likeable. I thought I had that potential. My ego got too big. To think I could be someone like that when I was the most hated girl ever.?
Why Spencer flipped out on the set of The Hills: they wanted him to punch his sister
MTV announced in March 2010 that the sixth season of The Hills would be its last. But it was already over for Spencer. He had gotten into a huge fight with a producer named Sara Mast, whom he said tried to get him to cause his fellow castmember and sister, Stephanie, who has had on-again, off-again alcohol and drug problems, to ?hit rock bottom.? In his version, Mast tried to get him to punch Stephanie. ?Her exact quote: ?That Snooki effect,?? Spencer said, referring to a Jersey Shore episode in which castmember Nicole ?Snooki? Polizzi was hit by a fellow bar patron.
?That?s when I snapped,? Spencer said. ?To the point when I said?and this is when the producers got scared of me??You want me to punch my sister in the face? Are you trying to get me to kill you?? I didn?t say, ?I?m killing you.? If I did, MTV would have had me arrested.?
A source close to production who requested anonymity, and is no friend of Spencer?s, confirmed his version of what caused the fight, but also added that Spencer was, in fact, quite scary about it. Through her agent, Sara Mast declined to comment for this story. Creator DiVello?s PR representative was told specifically about this claim and did not respond. MTV would not comment either.
On how they mismanaged their careers
?We were living each other?s mistakes?everything we were doing, in retrospect, was a mistake. The second we continued on our quest for fame was a mistake.? Spencer said. ?This isn?t a business. That was the big thing I didn?t get: Reality TV is not a career. Anyone who says, ?Oh, you can have a career in reality??that is a lie.?
Paris Hilton?s recent bomb of a reality series, The World According to Paris, proves this theory, according to them.
Heidi said, ?We thought it?d be huge!?
Spencer said: ?Paris Hilton created fame for nothing. The fact that only 400,000 people tuned into her premiere? We?re Paris Hilton fans.? He continued: ?She didn?t make all these surgery mistakes, or crystal mistakes. She didn?t do any of that. But here she is. Her career stopped.?
As have theirs, for the most part. Heidi, who was in her late teens when she was cast on The Hills and will turn 25 in September, has been appearing on VH1?s Famous Food, a reality competition in which celebrities compete to become a partner in a restaurant. When those sorts of opportunities come around, she said, ?I?m there.? She also still gets invited to host Las Vegas parties sometimes. ?I have the most fun ever.?

It’s not true that there was “never any” money for these two. They wasted more money in a year than the budget for an entire municipality. Heidi had at least 4 Hermes Birkin bags, which retail for around $15k each. She wore $1,000 shoes regularly, and Spencer admitted wasting 1/2 a million dollars on crystals. These people had a security detail consisting of ex Marines. Heidi used to go to work with four bodyguards. So it’s an “I told you so” moment to hear that they’re living at one of their parent’s houses and probably deep in debt now that their fame has inevitably dried up. If only we could hear similar stories about The Jersey Shore kids and The Kardashians. After we get a well deserved break from constant news about them.

Oh, Dolly Parton. Even though I’m not a country music fan (that is, aside from Johnny Cash), it’s impossible to dislike Dolly, who has always possessed an indomitable spirit throughout her long-lived career and grew up in (truly) humble beginnings. Although I must admit cringing ever so slightly when she recently engaged in some freestyle rap during one of her concerts, Dolly is still and will always be quite the legendary gal. Currently, the singer is in the midst of her latest music tour and, as such, has given quite the interesting interview about some of her early experiences with fanatical devotees. According to Fox News, one of them even tried to give her a baby. Really.
Country music legend Dolly Parton has revealed in an interview, gaining global attention Wednesday, that a “loony” fan once left a baby on her doorstep.
The 65-year-old, who is on her “Better Day” world tour, told Chicago’s Windy City Times she was shocked by the incident, which occurred after she penned her famous 1974 track “Jolene.”
“Years ago, when I first started being a big star, I had fans that were fanatical. It was when ‘Jolene’ was a big hit,” said Parton.
“We came home one day and there was a baby in a box at our gate with a note in it. The note said, ‘My name is Jolene, my momma has left me here and she wants you to have me.’ Of course, we all freaked out!”
“It wasn’t like it was a kitten or a puppy dog. It was a baby named Jolene!”
Parton, who is due to play in Chicago on Thursday, said she contacted Human Services about the abandoned child and never knew what happened after authorities took the youngster away.
The country star has concerts scheduled in England, Europe, US and Australia over the next four months, in support of her 41st studio album “Better Day.”

Obviously, Dolly did the right thing by immediately calling Human Services. Exactly what sort of person leaves a baby in a box anywhere, let alone on the doorstep of their favorite singer? That’s just so creepy, and I hope that, somewhere, fully-grown Jolene never reads this story anywhere. Hopefully, she was adopted out to a loving family (who ideally changed her name) and will never be aware of the crazy circumstances that surrounded her very early life. Crikey.

As it turns out, Theroux’s Hawaiian getaway was originally planned with Heidi Bivens, his longtime girlfriend of 14 years. Over the winter, Theroux and fashion stylist Bivens, 35, hit the island of Kauai for surfing, horseback riding, snorkling and more. And in March, Bivens gushed to pals about returning for the summer.
“She was really psyched about a Hawaii trip they’d taken and was thinking they should get property,” an insider told Us Weekly. But Theroux abruptly ended the relationship that month and soon stepped out with Aniston, his costar in the upcoming comedy Wanderlust.

This is Jennifer second solo VF cover - her first was in 2001. A decade later, and still relevant enough for a cover story? That?s a ?win? for J. Lo. Also a win? I was watching Selena yesterday (it was on TV), and I had the realization that if Jennifer wanted to refocus her energy into a film career, specifically in drama, I would be all over it. She?s a talented dramatic actress, y?all! I?ve always wanted her to find another project like Out of Sight. She was so, so good in that. She?s great when she gets to play ?tough?.
Anyway, I can?t wait for the VF interview. You know it’s going to be a good week when we’re treated on a Monday to so many photos of Hugh Jackman lounging shirtless, frolicking shirtless in the water, and attempting to apply sunscreen to his shirtless buff body. Hugh Jackman knows what we need to jump start our week and he’s delivering it for us with a smile and a wink. Hugh was in St. Tropez with his lucky wife and two kids, soaking up the sun and posing for these glorious sun-soaked photos.
A week ago Jackman hit up ComicCon to promote Real Steel, a film that’s drawing comparisons to the Rock ‘Em Sock ‘Em Robots game. No sh*t, this is the first I’ve heard of it too. The movie is based on a short story from 1956 about a boxer who joins the dangerous fast-paced world of fighting robotos (chuckle) and it’s supposedly not a Rock ‘Em Sock ‘Em Robots movie per se. It also stars Anthony Mackie and Evangeline Lilly. Real Steel is out in the US on October 7 and you can watch the trailer here. It looks totally ridiculous, and is directed by Shawn Levy. (Night at the Museum, Date Night.)
Jackman also confirmed at ComicCon that a script for Wolverine 2 is complete and that he’ll start filming in October. Last year he said he was in training for it by eating right and exercising hard, and it’s clearly paid off. The guy has maintained his incredible physique for years now. Or maybe, if he ever lets himself go a tiny bit, he waits until he’s in top shape again before taking off his shirt.

I’ll say something nice about Pamela Anderson to start this off - at least she hasn’t jacked her face up yet. She’s tried to cling to her youth with incredibly dated, heavy-handed makeup for years now instead of resorting to Botox and fillers like so many of her contemporaries. At least I think that’s the case. It’s hard to tell under all those layers of pink, black and orange.
In Pamela’s world it’s still 1994, she’s still on Baywatch at the height of her fame and she’s still in her late 20s. That’s the only way I can explain this outfit, that strut and that makeup and hair. Only Pamela just turned 44, which is what she’s celebrating here as we await her next nip slip. These photos are from a birthday party on Saturday in Vegas. (Although her actual birthday was July first.) She’s looking really hard and busted with those penciled in eyebrows and that super low-cut lace curtain valance dress, but again it’s nothing new from her. I like her shoes, but they need a sleeker dress and a more sophisticated look to pull off.
This reminds me of those “makeunders” that Oprah did last year. There was one Canadian mom who would go out of the house looking like a porn star, or basically like Anderson, every day. Oprah’s people redid her hair and makeup to make her look like a hot mom instead of a hooker and she claimed she liked it. I imagine the woman went right back out and tarted herself up again because she couldn’t stand the lack of attention. What I’m saying is that no style intervention with Anderson would ever work. Trying to get her to wear big people clothes would be like trying to get Hugh Hefner to ditch the robe and wear khakis. It’s not going to happen.
It was even worse from the back if you can believe it.

Oooh, I haven?t looked at Miley Cyrus?s Twitter feed in way too long. Did you know that she has two new puppies? Did you know that those puppies are adorable and she?s tweeting photos of them constantly? So, so cute. One of them is named Floyd. I don?t know which one.
Anyway, I was looking on Miley?s Twitter because of ?ZOMG? story that is really quite boring. For a while now, Miley has been bringing out her liberal, gay-loving social conscience. She given interviews where she?s talked - rather eloquently - about her embrace of her gay friends and fans, and she?s even come out in support of full gay-marriage rights (note to Democratic legislators: when Miley Cyrus has beaten you to the punch, you need to go further). Miley has even gotten into some Twitter tiffs with commenters, supporters and instigators regarding gay marriage, and she?s always held her ground rather admirably. And now this? Miley got a tattoo of an equal sign (?=?) on her finger, and she posted a twit-pic of the tattoo with the message ?All LOVE is equal?:
So far, no one has talked to Miley?s spokesperson or anything, but I think Miley?s Twitter feed speaks for itself. The girl believes that gays should have the right to marry. She doesn?t think the love that gay men and women have for each other is any different than the love straight people have for each other. And I have to say: Good for her. Oh, and this was her seventh tattoo. Yikes! All the little girls want to be Angelina these days.

Kirsten Dunst is the cover girl for the September issue of Elle UK, and these are several pics from the cover shoot. I?m not a huge fan? I?ve grown tired of this airy-fairy, washed-out photography style, especially when the subject is herself airy-fairy and washed-out. Kiki can be photographed to look stunning and beautiful, but you have to take the time to light her properly, get her hair done, put her in good clothes, etc. You can?t just mess up her bangs trauma and shoot her through a hipster mist. That?s fashion, and it?s not a good editorial style. Just my opinion. Anyway, in the Elle piece, there are some half decent quotes from Kiki - I especially like the ones about her too-girly style and her ?snaggle fangs?.
On her style: ?I?m 29. I keep thinking, ?Stop with the cutesy dresses.? I?m trying to, I honestly am. I have things in my wardrobe that are too girlie for my age. But I like simple, feminine, casual. I don?t like overdone.?
On her happiness: ?I?m much happier, more sure, more definite. Who you are at 25 and who you are at 29 is a very different thing. For me, it feels like a 20-year age gap. You live, you learn, and you come through the drama to a more easy, relaxed perspective.?
On her teeth: ?I love my snaggle fangs. They give me character and character is sexy. People comment, but the only person who ever told me to fix them was my mom?. I just went my own way, like daughters do.?

I have to agree with Kiki about her snaggle fangs, honestly. I don?t like talking about teeth very often because I know I?m in the minority - most people prefer teeth that super-human white and straight as can be. That?s fine, but I won?t hate on someone for having weird teeth. As for Kiki on her ripe old age of 29… Meh. If she wants to think the difference between 25 and 29 is huge, more power to her. But I suspect she doesn?t even remember 25. Bitch was hammered for nearly the entire year.

Matt Damon took part in a Save Our Schools march and rally on Washington on Saturday for teachers’ rights. Damon’s mother, a former teacher, was at the event along with his former high school history teacher. The famous actor rallied the crowd with a speech praising teachers for shaping his life and outlook. Save Our Schools is calling for teacher empowerment and grassroots support to help end the practice of tying school funding and teacher salaries to standardized testing. Damon made many thoughtful comments about the cause:
Matt Damon dedicated his Saturday to a cause close to his heart, rallying with teachers on a march to The White House.
The Bourne Identity star, whose mother was a teacher, joined the Save Our Schools March to protest the use of standardized testing throughout the education system.
In a touching speech to the amassed crowd, Damon, 40, discussed how he feels his own public school education impacted his life.
“As I look at my life today, the things that I value about myself, my imagination, my love of acting, my passion for writing, my love of learning, my curiosity, came from the way that I was parented and taught,” Damon told the crowd as the sun beat down on his head, shaved bald for his next role.
“And none of these qualities that I just mentioned, none of these qualities that I prize so deeply, none of these qualities that have brought me so much joy, that have made me so successful professionally, none of these qualities that make me who I am can be tested,” he said.
?Now don?t get me wrong. I did have a brush with standardized tests at one point. I remember because my mom went to the principal?s office and said, ?My kid ain?t taking that. It?s stupid, it won?t tell you anything and it?ll just make him nervous.? That was in the ?70s when you could talk like that.?
Damon also voiced support of all the educators throughout the United States.
?We love you, we thank you and we will always have your back,” he said.

Both of my parents are retired teachers, and I admire the work that educators do and know a little about it. It’s a tough job for low pay and there’s a ton of bureaucracy to deal with. I’ve been out of the loop since they retired, but it sounds like it’s even worse now with these new federal policies. It’s heartening to see Damon lend his celebrity to this cause and you can tell that it’s one he cares about deeply.
Damon has been sporting a bald head for a little over a week. He shaved it for a role in a science fiction film called Elysium, which he’s been filming in Vancouver. It also stars Jodie Foster and Sharlto Copley. As Lainey points out we’ll be seeing plenty more of Matt this year. He has two films coming out: Contagion in September and We Bought a Zoo in December. I always love to see him on the big screen, with hair or without. (I much prefer with, but I’m not going to be picky.)

Aw, she might be a moron, and she might be ?racially ambiguous? but I think Jessica Alba looks super-cute here. These are pics from yesterday?s Spy Kids 4: All the Time in the World in 4D premiere. Alba wore a maternity maxi dress from Dolce & Gabbana that looks great on her. The clutch is by Roger Vivier and the shoes are Louboutin. She?s gotten to the part of her pregnancy where she?s gained weight in her face, and I think it makes her look younger and cuter. She looks like a knocked-up 19 year old! That?s what some added weight can do, ladies. My only complaint - and this is just a minor thing - is that Alba was the only person at the premiere who ?dressed up? like this, in full hair and makeup and a long dress. While I don?t fault her for the dress (she probably just chose the dress that fit, that was the most comfortable), I will side-eye the over-the-top hair. The hair says ?Oscars!? It?s slightly too much for the premiere of a kids? film. Still, it?s only a minor qualm.
I think Alba is due soon too - her baby shower (with a ?French country? theme) was last week, and the way she?s been talking, I expect her to give birth soon enough.

During her time back home in Australia, Miranda's graciously fulfilled the many interview requests she's received including a chat with The Sydney Morning Herald.
Asked about her experience as a new mom to baby son Flynn, Miss Kerr said, "It's just the best thing I have ever done. To have children was one of the main things I've wanted to do in my life and it really was better than I ever thought it would be. I'm really lucky because I have a good-natured boy. When I was pregnant, I practiced hypnobirthing, which is a daily meditation, and I practice a lot of yoga and I think that had a lot to do with him being calm because that was the first energy he felt. They say a calm mother is a calm baby."
As for her husband Orlando Bloom's fatherly skills, the 28-year-old brunette praisingly told, "He's amazing. He is so supportive and he is incredible with Flynn and he is really helpful and very hands-on."
Questioned about her thoughts on adding another member to the family, Miranda replied, "Right now we are just enjoying Flynn because he is just a bundle of joy and it's only been six months. I would ideally like to have more but we will see what happens."
