The ?Titanic? actress will work under the direction of Jason Reitman, who also scripted the adaptation of the Joyce Maynard novel.
In the flick, Kate will play a single mother of a young son who takes in a stranger with a dangerous past. She falls in love with him over the course of Labor Day Weekend.

It seems like the new celebrity trend is making fun of fat people and saying critical things to their faces. Gwyneth Paltrow did it to her ?friend? and now this surprisingly explicit Enquirer story claims that Julia Roberts absolutely detests that her half-sister Nancy is overweight. Just to make this clear - I had no problems slamming Gwyneth for her rudeness, because that story came directly from the dude she criticized TO HIS FACE. This Enquirer story might be completely fabricated, but considering the specifics, I?m getting a feeling that some (if not all) of it is true. And if it is true, than Julia truly needs a good, hard slap. I?m not even joking. If she honestly said this this stuff to her sister under these circumstances, Julia is a complete and utter C-U-Next-Tuesday.
Julia Roberts and her half sister Nancy Motes are feuding again - this time over Nancy?s weight! Nancy, 35, has blown up to more than 300 pounds and her movie star sister is ?disgusted? by her appearance, say sources.
?Julia?s made no secret of the fact that she?s not happy that Nancy?s gotten heavy,? said a source close to Julia?s husband Danny. ?She thinks it?s humiliating for her and the entire family.?
Julia went out of her way to land Nancy a job as a production assistant on Glee, thanks to Julia?s connections with director Ryan Murphy - and Julia believes Nancy?s obesity reflects badly on her, continued the source.
Julia is also concerned that Nancy?s weight will make it difficult for her to continue to care for their 76-year-old mother, Betty, who struggled with her own health issues. While Julia has been paying Betty?s bills, Nancy is her part-time caretaker.
?Julia has asked Nancy point-blank, ?Who?s going to keep an eye on mom if you get sick???
Tensions between Julia and her sister came to a head last month at Betty?s home in Pacific Palisades.
?Julia was rolling her eyes and making cutting comments about Nancy?s weight behind her back - whispering to partygoers, ?Can you believe how big she?s gotten?? When Nancy got wind of what Julia was saying, she confronted her, telling her to shut up and leave her alone. Julia shot back, ?Well, I wouldn?t have to if you had enough self-respect to lose some weight!? At which point, Nancy told Julia to ?go f–k herself? - thus ruining the party.?
The two women have not spoken since, and Nancy was noticeably absent from Julia?s 4-year-old son?s birthday party in June.

So, just to recap, Julia?s sister is the part-time caretaker for their mother, plus she has a full-time job as a production assistant on Glee - which is like a slave position, is very time-intensive, and I doubt Julia really had to pull many strings to get a sister what amounts to an ?internship?. And Nancy is struggling with her weight. So instead of lending moral support, or suggesting help in finding a less time-consuming full time job, or suggesting that their mother needs full-time professional help to ease the burden off of Nancy, Julia decides the ?solution? is to be a complete and utter bitch DURING A PARTY. And let me tell you something, it was Julia?s d-bag comments that shut the party down. ?Well, I wouldn?t have to if you had enough self-respect to lose some weight!? That?s what shut the party down. Not ?Go f–k yourself.? Don?t blame the overweight girl for Julia?s ridiculous, THAT?S SO TACKY behavior.
I wouldn?t have even managed to choke out an insult, honestly, if this story is true and I was in Nancy?s position. I would have simply choked the hell out of Julia.

Sporting white-hot sunglasses and a beige jacket, the 41-year-old mom of two took a midday break to have some fun in the sun with her little ones, Max and Emme.
Meanwhile, during a recent interview with BBC Radio 1, Jennifer revealed that she's still unsure of her return to the judging panel on "American Idol" next season, explaining, "I haven't been forced to make a decision and I'm glad about that because I'm on the fence."
Lopez noted that her super-busy schedule is the main reason that she has yet to make up her mind, telling, "It's going to come down to making a choice of what I want to do for the next year. We're not really at the breaking point yet."

Lately, Katie Holmes has been doing a lot of what she does best; that is, she’s been shopping, walking around in workout gear (look at those lifts!), and carrying around chocolate-laden coffee drinks. She has a few movies coming out soon (which are described below), including a decent-looking horror flick that will probably survive regardless of her horrific performance. Oddly enough, one of Katie’s bragging points is that Al Pacino appears in two of her upcoming films, which is rather hilarious at best. I mean, I love Pacino to death, but none of his movies from the past decade have gone anywhere. So why do the B- and C-list actors continue to use his name as a justification for appearing in bad films? It’s a question for the ages.
At any rate, the Women In Film association shall hold a fund-raising gala tonight to honor this year’s “highly accomplished” honorees, which includes “Face of the Future” Katie Holmes, who has been described in very press-friendly language as a “powerhouse” alongside the likes of fellow honoree Annette Bening. No kidding.
In preparation for the ceremony, Katie’s been interviewed by Variety alongside the other women who will be honored tonight. All of them (besides Katie) are indeed accomplished actresses, directors, or cinematographers, and they’ve all be asked to express their dreams for the future. When the time arrived, the zombified one staggered forth and recited some vapid yet well-rehearsed remarks:
The wish to play a femme fatale from the 1940s or 1950s is surprising for Max Mara’s Face of the Future honoree Holmes. The star of the recent miniseries “The Kennedys” longs to do another period piece for either television or film and play “someone glamorous, a combination of Grace Kelly and Marilyn Monroe.”
“They’re very different but bring together in one character that ladylike feeling and that pain and also the strength. It’s something I’m interested in exploring,” she says.
Her dream director is one that got away, the legendary Billy Wilder.
“Some Like It Hot and The Apartment are brilliant,” the actress enthuses. “I would have loved to have worked with Wilder.”
This year, Holmes co-stars in three pics: the thriller Don’t Be Afraid of the Dark, with Guy Pearce and Bailee Madison; the comedy Jack and Jill, with Adam Sandler and Al Pacino (”It can’t be anything but wet-your-pants funny”); and action drama The Son of No One, with Channing Tatum and Pacino.
Despite all the film activity, Holmes still aspires to return to the boards.
“Broadway wasn’t a one-time thing for me,” says the star of the 2008 revival of All My Sons. “I am constantly reading plays, and I want to go back if they’ll have me.”

Face of the Future. Okay, so Katie technically started acting when she was 19-years-old in 1997’s The Ice Storm, and then she did five years of “Dawson’s Creek,” but shortly afterwards began to slide into obscurity until the Unhinged, Lift-Wearing Midget rescued her. Or imprisoned her. Whatever.
My point is, Katie’s been more or less “in the business” for fourteen years (well past the stage of potential “ingenue”), and she’s enjoyed a pretty disastrous run to boot. For certain, Hollywood has given Katie plenty of chances to prove her mettle, but she has always reverted back to the same habit of talking out of her mouth for every character that she plays. To be perfectly blunt, her acting career has absolutely no potential for growth. Have you ever heard anyone exclaim, “I really want to see that new Katie Holmes movie this weekend!”? That’s never been the case.
So why, at this stage of the game, has Katie Holmes been honored as the “Face of the Future” by the Women In Film association?

Selena Gomez went on Kidd Kraddick’s show in Texas on Thursday to blame too much junk food for her recent hospitalization. Gomez is obviously one of those Big Vegetable lobbyists.
She told Kraddick, “I do eat. The problem is I don’t eat right. I love everything that’s possibly not good for me.” Among her favorite vices are M&Ms, Kit Kats, Snickers and Justin Bieber Goobers.
“She?s definitely shoving vitamins down my mouth and following me around,” she says of her mommy. “But at the same time, I was a stubborn kid, so I got to eat whatever I wanted. I have to have creamed spinach or cheese on my broccoli. I have to have something that makes it not healthy.”
Now she’s learned the error of her ways and is on the path to recovery. How boring. Remember when kids like Lindsay Lohan used to get strung out on cocaine and Vodka and have to check in to the hospital for “exhaustion?” The good old days. Now the worst thing teen celebs do is eat too much junk food. I’ve seen cartoon rabbits deal with more serious issues.

I was going to wait to cover these new photos of Gwyneth Paltrow until I had gotten a chance to look at this week?s GOOP-letter, but whatever. These are photos of Gwyneth attending the ?Bent of Learning? benefit last night. Something about Zen and yoga, I think. Her dress is J. Mendel, and good God is it fug and unflattering. This is something I have never understood about Gwyneth: she works out for HOURS every day and neurotically obsesses over her diet, so why does she consistently choose styles that don?t flatter her figure? This dress ADDS weight on her slender frame. Perhaps she?s trying to look ?fat? so that she can appeal to chunky peasants?
Now let?s talk about her face. LOBSTER GOOP. That?s what it is. In Gwyneth?s mind, she resembles an exquisite Pink diamond (not like the tacky one Ben Affleck gave J. Lo, Goop sniffs), but in truth, the bitch just needs to remember her sunscreen.
Ahhh, she just released her Goop. It?s about Father?s Day, because Gwyneth will absolutely exhaust you with tales about her late father, and barely mention that she was also raised by a mother who adored her and enabled her as well. Poor Blythe Danner. Gwyneth probably tells Blythe that she?s fat too. Or maybe Goop is still pissed that her mom is descended from peasants. Gerard has been very active in this charity, which funds rebuilding and humanitarian projects in Haiti (and beyond, I believe). Gerry has even traveled to Haiti with the charity (and likely to bone some hot Haitian women). I don?t know what AnnaLynne?s druggy face means to the charity, but considering how much face-time she got with Gerard on the press line, I suspect she was there officially, like she was one of the co-sponsors or something. The big news is that AnnaLynne looks almost unrecognizable because she dramatically darkened her hair. Previously, she was working a blonde-caramel color which? I actually preferred. This shade is just too dark, and it accentuates her negative features (druggy face).
So, what?s the deal between Gerard and AnnaLynne? Why are they so chummy and handsy? Well, you know The Butler has a type, right? Leggy brunettes, the darker the better. Some part of me thinks AnnaLynne?s newly dark hair is a ?bone me? signal to Gerard. Would he hit it? God, I hope not. That ass was with Kellan Lutz, for the love of God. KELLAN LUTZ. But Gerard?s probably up for it. He?s probably been boning Jessica Biel and Ashley Greene, and now he?s hitting up AnnaLynne with his moves - his moves being ?getting the girl liquored up, rubbing her ass and then crooking his finger at the end of the night.? I think Alicia looks elegant and prettier than I?ve seen her look in a while, despite the too-pink lipstick. From the back? yikes. That white panel, plus an ass flounce, plus the tacky belt? It?s too much.
Can I just say? I?m so happy that Alicia has stopped with the forehead jewelry. It was getting too much, and every time Bossip called her ?Cleopatra Keys? I thought ?yeah, right on.? But you know she?s still Cleopatra Keys in her mind. She named her baby Egypt, for the love of God.

I did a preview of Christina Aguilera?s W Magazine cover and pictorial a few days ago, and now W Magazine has released the interview. It?s five pages of drunken X-Tina genius. And by ?genius? I mean ?seriously, she?s a raging alcoholic, and she tries to play everything like she?s the biggest victim in the world.? If you like denial, sketchiness and drag queen hot messes, I suggest you read the full piece. Here are lots of highlights (sorry I did so much, there was a lot of whining and denial!):
Trauma and The Sound of Music: ?I felt caged by my childhood. And unsafe: Bad things happened in my home; there was violence. The Sound of Music looked like a form of release. I would open my bedroom window to sing out like Maria. In my own way, I?d be in those hills. Sometimes? especially in the last six months, I still feel like going to the window and singing out all my troubles? I laugh a lot lately. People expect me to cry, but I always laugh when things go wrong.?
A summary of how Christina both mocked and copied Lady Gaga: While Aguilera once owned the little-girl-with-the-big-voice pop-star niche, with Bionic, she willfully entered the land of Lady Gaga. In the press, she pretended not to care or notice. ?Oh, the newcomer?? Aguilera told reporters when asked about Gaga. ?This person was just brought to my attention not too long ago. I?m not quite sure who this person is, to be honest. I don?t know if it is a man or a woman.? Despite her feeble claims to confusion over Gaga?s gender and her uncharitable reluctance to give her credit, the video for ?Not Myself Tonight,? Bionic?s first single, had eerily similar tableaux to Gaga?s smash video ?Bad Romance.? Image for S&M image, they matched up. Old fans of Aguilera?s weren?t intrigued by her revamped identity, and new fans didn?t materialize. As the album sputtered, her 20-city summer tour didn?t sell and was canceled, at a cost of millions. There were rumors that her record company wanted to drop her. Things were not good.
She claims her ex-husband Jordan Bratman screwed around too: ?At one time or another,? Aguilera told me, hinting at affairs on both sides, ?we were both not angels. It got to a point where our life at home was reminding me of my own childhood. I will not have my son grow up in a tension-filled home. I knew there would be a negative reaction in the press to my divorce, but I am not going to live my life because of something someone might say. That goes against everything I sing on my records. I have to be myself.?
Behind the scenes on Burlesque: By all accounts, Burlesque was a tumultuous set: Steve Antin, the first-time director, and Clint Culpepper, the head of the studio, were longtime boyfriends who clashed and almost broke up over the movie. Their fights were loud, constant, and often physical. During one skirmish, Culpepper reportedly poured an iced tea over Antin?s head. ?There was a lot of incestuous energy in that movie,? Aguilera recalled. ?And it was very hard to be in the center of all that. A lot was riding on the film, and I bore the brunt. I was like, ?Hey, stop fighting?this is my career.??
On the failure of Burlesque: ?I was sad, but I?m still glad that I did the movie,? she said. ?During production, I was going through a lot of self-discovery. As a quote-unquote pop star, you have your entourage with you at all times. When you enter and leave a place, backstage, even at home?you always have your team. On the movie set, I didn?t have anyone around me. And it felt good. When I first met my husband, I needed that helping hand to take the reins and look after me. After the movie, I grew out of being that little girl: I became more of an adult.?
Plus, she met Matt Rutler on the set: ?I could depend on him for everything. Matt was working on the movie, and he was so supportive. And he still is. We?ve been through a lot in the past year.?
Flubbing the National Anthem: ?Everything on the field at the Super Bowl was vividly bright, and I was having a moment,? Aguilera recalled. ?I got lost in the emotion of being there and I messed up the lyrics to the song.? Instead of singing, ?O?er the ramparts we watch?d were so gallantly streaming,? she belted out, ?What so proudly we watched at the twilight?s last reaming.? Her improvised line made instant headlines. ?I knew the press would glom onto it,? she said. ?I went to dinner after the Super Bowl with Matt and I laughed about how I?d made myself into a Trivial Pursuit question: ?In 2011 what female singer flubbed the lyrics to the national anthem???
About that story about passing out in Jeremy Renner?s bed: The weirdness was compounded by a bizarre incident that had happened a few weeks earlier, when Rutler and Aguilera attended a birthday party at actor Jeremy Renner?s house. ?Matt was the one who was invited?I went as his girlfriend,? Aguilera recalled. ?It was an open party, and everyone was spread out all over the house. At one point I sat on the edge of a bed. It was a guest room. But it only takes one person to start the negativity, and then everyone wants to hop aboard and continue the story.? The story, according to Renner, was that Aguilera climbed into his bed. He insinuated that she was intoxicated or cuckoo or both.
Falling down drunk at the Grammys, people saying she?s a mess: ?I know what everyone was saying. And during that Grammy moment, when I nearly collapsed, I was thinking, Are you kidding me? I?ve always been really good with my heels. Even pregnant, I could perform in heels. Note to self: Never wear a train onstage. My heel got caught in my train, and if it wasn?t for Jennifer Hudson, who picked me up as I went down, I would have fallen to the floor.? Aguilera paused. ?When it happened,? she continued, ?it was just like, What else, God?! What else?! I threw my hands up in the air and started smiling, because what else could go wrong??
On The Voice versus American Idol: ?I?ve never watched an entire episode of American Idol,? Aguilera said, explaining her initial resistance to The Voice. ?It?s too mean. Why would anyone want to go on a show to be ripped apart? I don?t want to be tough with my singers, but I do want to tell them on The Voice that if you really want this, you?ll be kicked when you?re down. You have to be willing to roll with those punches. You have to really want it.? As an ambitious nine-year-old, Aguilera competed on Star Search, performing ?Sunday Kind of Love.? She lost in the semifinals. ?Do we even remember who I lost to?? she joked. ?At that age, I always sang songs meant for older people. That fit my personality?I had pain to sing about. If there had been a show like The Voice, I would have gone on it. It would have been amazing to be coached by a mentor.?
Matthew Rutler?s arrest for DUI (which was later dropped) and the reports that Christina was hammered too: ?It never should have happened in the first place,? Aguilera told me. ?The police knew my recent history and wanted to jump on the bandwagon. I don?t mean to martyr myself, but I think I was a victim of celebrity. I don?t drive, I wasn?t driving, and I committed no crimes, but they put me in jail. They called me a ?political hot potato.? They said, ?What are we going to do with this woman?? I think they were bored that night.?
In the end: ?I really admire all the greats,? Aguilera said. ?They?ve had their ups and downs during their careers. And I would never go down without a fight. I still have my eyes on the prize: I want to be that old lady onstage shaking her hips and singing her greatest hits.?

Basically, nothing is ever Christina?s fault and every bad story you ever hear about her was made up out of thin air. If you see her drunkenly flub a line during the National Anthem, or you see her drunkenly bust her ass at the Grammys, you should just ignore it because it didn?t happen and you?re a horrible person for bringing it up, but now that you?ve brought it up, Christina would like you to know that ALL OF IT has made her STRONGER.
Look, I know some of you love her voice, and yeah, she has pipes. But those pipes are attached to a crazy, narcissistic monster who surrounds herself with enablers, sycophants and yes-men. She?s not a victim. Stop treating her like one.

I admire Blake Lively?s transformation. She used to be a boring, pushy mall girl on a television show. Now she?s the face of Chanel, dating Leonardo DiCaprio and the star of a red carpet for one of the big comic book franchise films. Of course, she still just looks like a mall girl in Chanel, but that?s beside the point. The point? Blake is living the dream, methinks. And she knows it.
These are photos from last night?s LA premiere of The Green Lantern. Blake was pretty much the only high-profile celebrity woman there, so she got to make her big-impact fashion statement without worrying about someone drawing attention away. Blake wore Chanel Couture, of course. I actually don?t hate it - Lagerfeld actually gave her a decent, pretty dress for a change, although the effect of the sheer skirt reminds me of a shower curtain. Also, it?s rather bridal, which? I think might scare Leo off.
Leonardo was not at the premiere (that I can see, although if you told me he met up with Blake at the post-premiere party, I wouldn?t be surprised). But the premiere was a sausage party! These are some photos from a charity dinner held in Paris on Tuesday night. The charity event was ?Liaisons au Louvre? so I guess it benefited the Louvre? Sure. Anyway, I just wanted to cover the photos, even though they?re not really new. Diane Kruger and Joshua Jackson were there, both of them looking adorable and loved up. I want Diane to get pregnant so much. I really do. I don?t care if she and Joshua get married or any of that, but I really want them to have a baby, because I think they would be wonderful, adorable parents.
Anyway, enough of my Joshua-Diane love, let?s talk about fashion. Diane wore this interesting Alessandra Rich, and she styled it straight off the runway, down to the weird, neon, plastic belt. I would absolutely hate this on anyone but Diane. On Diane, I?m merely impressed that she?s covered up. The girl loves the biscuit-grazing styles, and she?s very comfortable showing some skin. So, I applaud her rare modesty, and I also applaud how she still manages to make a glorified belted sack work in her favor. She is a true Fashion Girl.
Janet Jackson was also there. In harem pants. Ugh. I do think Janet looks great from the waist up, though. Yeah, she?s gained some weight back, which is fine. I still think she looks gorgeous.

Here are some new photos of Brad Pitt in Malta yesterday, where he will be filming World War Z shortly. Most people are saying that he?s scouting locations for the film. Sure. I will say this - Brad looks hot. I thought he looked hot when he was shooting that mob movie in NOLA, but now that his bob is grown out and he looks clean and de-greased? well, he?s really, really hot. According to Us Weekly, the Jolie-Pitts are due to spend a month in Malta, and they?ve rented an $11 million mansion in Qrendi, Malta, which is ?just five minutes from the ocean.? On Tuesday night, Angelina and Brad went out to dinner with some people from the film:
Explains a local insider: “It’s a lunchtime restaurant, so it was opened especially for them. Brad wanted a dinner for some of the people working on the film. It was an intimate setting.”

It?s one of the summer?s most anticipated flicks, and earlier tonight (June 15) Blake Lively premiered her new movie ?The Green Lantern? in Los Angeles.
The ?Sisterhood of the Traveling Pants? actress looked stunning in white as she worked her magic for the cameras outside of the famous Grauman?s Chinese Theatre.
During a recent interview, Blake explained how her character in the film drew her to become interested in the project.
"Carol is very unique in this genre. She's an incredibly powerful woman -- she's a fighter pilot, she runs her father's aviation company. It's rare to see such strong women existing as equals amongst men in film, especially in this genre."

Taking over Grauman?s Chinese Theatre, ?The Green Lantern? held its Los Angeles premiere earlier tonight (June 15).
The film?s stars Ryan Reynolds and Blake Lively both made it out for the affair and looked fabulous as they greeted fans and press.
With the lovely Angela Bassett also on hand, Reynolds explained what sets ?Lantern? apart from other films that have come out of the booming superhero genre.
?A lot of the current iterations of superheroes are a little bit darker and more serious in tone. The thing I distilled from diving into that mythology and that universe is that there's a tone that's different.?
Ryan continued, ?He's not overly funny, but he's witty. I always say he's that guy who can throw a punch, tell a joke and kiss the girl. It was mostly just finding out who Hal Jordan was and also distilling what it is that the fanboys love about him and making sure that that can be found up on screen because if they love it there's a good chance that a broader audience will love it."

Weathering the windy conditions, Christina Hendricks was spotted out running errands in West Hollywood, CA on Wednesday afternoon (June 15).
The redheaded beauty's luscious locks blew back with the gusts as she strolled past paparazzi while visiting a local office building during the course of her midweek doings.
As for the gig on "Mad Men," Miss Hendricks recently spoke about missing her Joan character when the hit AMC show's on hiatus.
Christina explained to New York magazine, "I love [Joan]. I always miss her." She added, "We work really, really hard and really intensely in the 13 episodes that we do, and we're all ready for a break. But then after two weeks, we're all kind of calling each other, being like, 'I want to get back to work, and I love it'."
Hendricks also said that she had no doubt the prolonged contract negotiations would be settled eventually, telling, "I knew that it was going to come back, and I knew that there was no way they could do it without [creator] Matt [Weiner], and I knew that they respected Matt's vision, and that it would all work out in the end. It's very common for shows to go through renegotiations with networks - it's what happens. I just wanted it to kind of hurry up is all."

Stepping out for a good cause, Gwyneth Paltrow was on hand for the 3rd annual Bent on Learning benefit in New York City on Wednesday evening (June 15).
Held at the Urban Zen Center, the Oscar winning actress worked the arrivals area before joining up with designer Donna Karan and Stacey Bendet.
Miss Paltrow's appearance comes as she happened to be honored during the course of the festivities for her ?immense contributions to the yoga community.?
As for the organization, Bent On Learning has a mission set "to improve the physical fitness and cognitive, social and emotional skills of New York City public school students by providing regular instruction in yoga and meditation."

Soaking up all of the joys that wedded bliss has to offer, Lily Allen just can't stop gushing about her recent nuptials to Sam Cooper.
Earlier this week, the blushing bride took to her Twitter account to make her married life a little more official (to the world of social media, at least) - by changing her username from @lilyroseallen to @MrsLRCooper.
Newlywed Lily also took to the site to tell followers, "I had the most amazing wedding, Thank you to everyone who went to such extraordinary efforts to make it that way."
Adding to this super-special time in their lives, hubby Sam announced that the two are expecting a baby - this comes just seven months after Allen endured a miscarriage.

The wedding was to be filmed for a reality special, and her refusal to marry him would be a sensation.
