| Padma Lakshmi would lie about endometriosis, claim it was a migraine or flu | Added 5 years ago | Source: CeleBitchy |

Endometriosis is a condition that affects one in ten women in which the uterine lining grows outside the uterus. It can be very painful, especially during your period, and can affect fertility and your sex life. Among the women who have discussed their battle with endometriosis are Julianne Hough, Halsey, Tia Mowry-Hardict, Daisy Ridley and Padma Lakshmi. Padma cofounded the Endometriosis Foundation of America and used to be bedridden from endometriosis before she had surgery. In a new interview with People, she talks about how embarrassed she was by it, both as a teen and an adult when she used to make up excuses and cover stories for not being able to work. Padma has been appointed a Goodwill Ambassador for the UN Development Programme.
?I was so embarrassed about it,? Lakshmi said of the endometriosis diagnosis. ?I would lie to my agent and say, ?Oh I have a migraine? and then the next month I?d say ?I have the stomach flu.? ?
?A lot of people are speaking about it and that?s good.?
?As we celebrate International Women?s Day, let?s remember that women and girls face some of the worst discrimination and hardships in the world,? Lakshmi said at a press conference held at UNDP headquarters in New York.
?My main mission as UNDP Goodwill Ambassador will be to shine a spotlight on the fact that inequality can affect people in rich and poor countries alike.?
As a mother, Lakshmi feels that the lessons told to little boys and little girls needs to be changed, saying, ?Women are told to be nice, we are told to get along, to be adjusting, go with the flow, work really hard, be perfect, be polite, be pretty, be alluring but not too alluring because then it is your fault. Whereas, boys are raised to be strong and brave and go after what they want and take life by the horns.?
?We are telling little girls something different than what we are telling little boys,? she continued. ?We are sending them out to the same ocean to swim together. I used to think intelligence is the greatest quality to have, but now I honestly believe it is empathy. I think that is really important to be teaching our little boys and girls. Empathy.?
[From People]
Weve heard so many horror stories about how debilitating periods can be, both physically and psychologically. The documentary short which won the Oscar this year, Period. End of Sentence, highlights how menstruation can keep women from completing school in rural India. Padma is right that women get different messages about how were supposed to act and who were supposed to be, and that our physiology is used to further that divide.
Im getting an endometrial ablation later today, Wednesday. While I dont believe I have endometriosis, Ive felt awful and have had symptoms lasting longer than my period for months. Im in premenopause and its as if I have my period 2 to 3 weeks out of the month. All of my friends who have ablations say they worked for them so Im really hoping it works for me too.
Endometriosis is a common, painful disease that affects 1 in 10 women ? yet it takes 9 years on average to get diagnosed.

| Brooklyn Decker doesn't like 'the way that self-care is being positioned these days' | Added 5 years ago | Source: CeleBitchy |

A few days ago I saw a tweet about self care that was both insightful and hard to take. It said that self care involves setting goals, doing the difficult thing you know is right, letting go of bad relationships, etc. I should have liked it because I cant find it again, but heres a similar tweet. At its core self care is putting yourself first and taking time to make sure youre ok. Its so often presented as taking bubble baths, doing yoga, meditating and applying face masks though. Brooklyn Decker recently called self care bullsh-t. US Magazine asked her about it and while she agrees with the concept she thinks its too narrowly defined and becomes yet another standard for women to try to live up to.
After Us Weekly?s Christina Garibaldi asked Decker if she made time for herself to go to the gym, the mom of two had an adamant answer. ?Nope. Nope. No. I don?t. I don?t. And I actually feel like I probably angered a few people, but recently I said I think self care is a little overrated,? she told Us. (Actually, she said ?self-care is kind of bulls?t? during a speech at a Girlboss rally in November.)
?I mean, I think self-care fundamentally is so important,? she noted of the concept. ?But I think that for so many women, in the way that self-care is being positioned these days, it?s being positioned as a box on a checklist that you need to check. And so as a mom and an entrepreneur and an actor and a wife and all of the things that I am in life, and all the things all women are in life, I feel like if you?re not checking that box, you feel like you?re failing yourself.?
?I was fine with not going to the gym/ And I was fine with not having that time. But then a doctor actually was like, ?So what are you doing for self-care??? she recalled. ?And I said, ?I hang out with my kids. That fills my cup. That?s my time off.?? The physician, however, didn?t buy it. ?He said, ?That?s not self-care. That?s still work. What are you doing for self-care?? And I felt a little embarrassed, like that was something I wasn?t doing well. And I kind of laughed. And I was like, ?Why can?t self-care be snuggling with your babe? Why can?t self-care be that???
?It?s whatever makes you happy.?
[From US Magazine]
The way she explains it makes a lot of sense, especially after a male doctor told her she wasnt doing it right. No one else knows what feels right to us. Brooklyn hanging out with her baby could be another persons trip to the spa. Im into the traditional definition of self care. I enjoy meditating, saunas, skincare and all that but when it becomes yet another activity to fit in why bother? (And I often make it that. I can turn anything into a checklist.) It should be something you look forward to. So often our free time and personal tastes are commoditized so they can become yet another thing we need to buy or someone elses standard we need to live up to.

| Duchess Kate 'has no issue with Meghan,' is making 'a real effort' to get along | Added 5 years ago | Source: CeleBitchy |

The Cambridges and Sussexes? joint appearances at the Commonwealth Day church service at Westminster ended up being kind of non-story from a gossip perspective. Sure, we talked about Meghan?s fug nurse?s hat and Kate?s buttons, but there was no real scandalous or controversial moment between the couples. It reminded me a lot of the Christmas Day walk at Sandringham Kate and Meghan were doing all of the heavy lifting of going along and getting along, and they were both definitely trying to be SEEN getting along. Meanwhile, the vibe between Harry and William seemed similar to Christmas too like Will and Harry have had a serious falling out and it?s still not okay between them. Anyway, Meghan and Kate greeted each other with a friendly cheek-kiss at Westminster, which was enough for Katie Nicholl at Vanity Fair to point out that ?sources? insist that Kate and Meghan have completely buried the hatchet.
The kissy greeting at Westminster: According to a Palace source, Kate Middleton?s unusual public gesture was deliberate?she hoped the warm embrace would be captured by the world?s media and finally put an end to the rumors of an ongoing feud.
Meghan?s last event? Vanity Fair has been told that the Commonwealth Day service was the last official royal engagement that Meghan Markle, who is believed to be eight months pregnant, will carry out before she gives birth, although she will continue to take private meetings, and Kate was keen to send out the right message before Meghan and Prince Harry have their baby.
A source claims Kate wants to keep everything professional: ?They might not have a huge amount in common but Kate has no issue with Meghan. She wants them to get along, not just for Harry?s sake but because two royal sisters-in-law at loggerheads wouldn?t be good, and Kate knows that. For Kate, it?s about keeping their relationship professional and putting on a show of togetherness.?
The Sussexes & Cambridges have been getting along better: As Meghan nears her due date, she and Kate have apparently been in regular touch. There has long been reason to doubt the reports of a feud between the two women, though there was indication last fall that Harry and Prince William were experiencing some tensions. Now they?re said to be getting along well, and there were no sign of any distance between William and Harry on Monday. However, joint appearances between the ?Fab Four,?? as they have been known, won?t be frequent from now on.
Kate has been making the effort: ?It?s not always been easy, there have been issues behind the scenes, but Harry and Meghan want to leave on good terms and Kate especially has been making a real effort,? says a second source. ?There are no bad feelings and I think Kate was keen to put an end to these rift rumors. She has no problem with Meghan and she has made it clear to Meghan that she?s there for advice or whatever Meghan might need.?
[From Vanity Fair]
I enjoy this story for the subtext most of all ?Harry and Meghan want to leave on good terms and Kate especially has been making a real effort.? I suspect William has not been making a similar effort. Possibly because it was never really about ?the duchesses at war!? as much as it was about William and Harry?s falling out. That being said, this is such a dumb way to position this story, like Magnanimous Future Queen Kate is a brilliant internal-politics diplomat who is the only one who understands that she has to get along with her sister-in-law. I guess Meghan didn?t have any agency in the whole ?duchess feud? thing, huh?

| Demi Moore on her daughters: 'I?m getting more insights from them than I?m giving' | Added 5 years ago | Source: CeleBitchy |

It makes me so happy to see Demi Moore looking healthy. She went to rehab in 2012 for substance abuse and eating disorders. Her decision to go to rehab came from an ultimatum given by her three adult daughters, Rumer, Scout and Tallulah, after she collapsed in her home. Reflecting on her daughters ultimatum, Demi realized that, ?clearly, they saw more of me than I saw of myself.? And seven years on, it seems this, at least in part, is still true. At the Goop Health Summit (eyeroll) with Gwyneth Paltrow and Arianna Huffington, Demi said her daughters are so insightful, they teach her more than she teaches them.
Demi Moore opened up about how she?s changed her life over the last seven years.
When Paltrow, 46, asked what the two panelists teach their daughters about growing up in the world today, Moore said improving herself has an effect.
?I feel like the more that I work on myself it?s automatically imparted because that?s how I?m living, and I don?t have to work as hard to show them or teach them,? she said.
Plus, she added, her daughters Rumer, 30, Scout, 27, and Tallulah, 25, teach her just as much.
?I already think they?re more evolved and more confident and less apologetic for who they are and the space that they?re taking,? Moore said. ?I think I?m getting more insights from them than I?m giving.?
[From People]
I relate to what she?s saying here. I think that adults are meant to guide young children on survival skills and hopefully nurture their compassion and morality. At a certain age their journey becomes navigating the current culture. Like Demi, I learn more about what?s going on today through my kids than they do me.
Demi?s comment about her kids being less apologetic about who they are got to me, in a good way. Demi, Gwyneth and Arianna touched on technology/screen time and Demi talked about the scrutiny her daughters face on social media. They were so cruelly treated by the public, the fact that they emerged from that more confident is remarkable. I imagine any parent would gain a lot of insight watching their children go through that.

| Heidi Klum would have married her fiance, Tom Kaulitz, the day they met | Added 5 years ago | Source: CeleBitchy |

Heidi Klum has a new interview with Closer Magazine [via Daily Mail] in which she talks about her fiance, 29 year-old Tokio Hotel guitarist Tom Kaulitz. They have a date for their wedding and while its not specified Im assuming its this year. Heidi says that her kids love Tom and are excited for them to get married, which is nice I guess. Thats important in a relationship. She also claims she would have married Tom the day they met, which is ridiculous.
Speaking to Closer magazine on Tuesday, [Heidi] gushed: The kids adore Tom. They cant wait for the wedding! Theyll be very involved in it all.
Going on to discuss their engagement, ten months into their romance, she said: We met in February 2018 and honestly I would have married him that day, probably!
I was surprised when he asked, but I was kind of thinking it was going to go that way because we just clicked.
[Heidi] said she and her fianc have set a date for the wedding, but have their work cut out for them as theyve been too busy with their work to plan anything.
Heidi met Tom on set of Germanys Next Top Model, and Tom popped the question on December 24 with a dark-stone engagement ring.
[From The Daily Mail]
Maybe Im just too practical a person but even after I have been with someone for years theres no way I would say or think oh I would have married them the day I met them. Thats just fing stupid. I remember the first date I had with men I was with for years and they all went well, but so did first dates with dudes I ended up breaking up with after a few months. You just dont know the first few times you meet someone or even in the first few months. You have to get to know them in different circumstances. You cant tell if someone is reliable the first time you meet them, not to mention trustworthy and sane. Heidi is wacky, shes in love with being in love and she dates these younger men who worship her and make her feel young. At least she hasnt messed with her face Ill give her that. Injectables and plastic surgery are not as common in Germany though.
I know Heidi is dressed like a muppet but she was at a fashion show so she has an excuse this time.

| Felicity Huffman was arrested yesterday when armed FBI agents raided her home | Added 5 years ago | Source: CeleBitchy |

|
As we discussed yesterday, when it was breaking news, Felicity Huffman and Lori Loughlin were both indicted as part of a wide-ranging and far-reaching college admissions scheme. In Felicity?s case, she paid $15K to ensure that a SAT tester would change her daughter?s answers to give her daughter a better SAT score. In Loughlin?s case, she paid $500K for a scheme that had her and an NCAA coach falsifying her daughter?s records so her daughter looked like an elite crew rower, when the daughter was not anything of the kind. While various legal experts are chiming in about the poor, rich, white SAT Beckys who had to do crimes because they loved their dumb kids too much and how could we possibly put them in jail for that, the FBI is treating this like any other criminal situation. The FBI locked and loaded arrived at Felicity?s home bright and early yesterday morning:
Felicity Huffman knew she was a target of the federal investigation into bribery in the college admissions process but she had no idea 7 feds would show up at her door Tuesday morning with guns drawn. Sources familiar with the arrest tell TMZ, 7 FBI agents showed up at Felicitys Hollywood Hills home at 6 AM and drew their weapons as they ordered Felicity to come out and surrender.
Were told Felicity, her husband William H. Macy and their 2 daughters were asleep when the agents ordered her out. Our sources say she knew the arrest was looming and would have gladly surrendered on her own, but the feds saw it differently.
An FBI source familiar with the arrest tells TMZ guns were drawn as a precaution. Its always left to the agents discretion whether to draw a firearm during an arrest. The agents took Huffman to a federal building where she was processed by federal marshals.
As we reported, Huffman was indicted for conspiracy to commit mail fraud and honest services mail fraud. The indictment claims Huffman made a charitable contribution of $15,000 to participate in a college entrance exam cheating scheme on behalf of her eldest daughter. The indictment claims the daughter was given twice the amount of time to take the SAT as other students and the paid proctor agreed to secretly correct her answers afterward.
[From TMZ]
Felicity appeared before a federal judge later on Tuesday to be formally charged in the bribery scheme. She didn?t have to enter a plea, but she had to put up $250K for her bond, and she had to surrender her passport. She?s expected to next appear in a Boston court on March 29 for a preliminary hearing.
As for Lori Loughlin, she was out of the country when the FBI arrived at her door. TMZ says that she plans to return to California today and turn herself into authorities. THe FBI did arrest her husband Mossimo Giannulli and he was charged in federal court yesterday, same as Felicity, although I think he?s facing different kinds of charges, because that family scheme involved more money and more people.
There were some questions about why William H. Macy Felicity?s husband wasn?t arrested and charged with any crime. It?s clear in the affidavit that Macy had some knowledge of the SAT-test bribery scheme, but I think (and I?m just guessing) that the FBI thought they couldn?t really prove that Macy was truly involved in bribing the SAT tester or whatever.
Here?s Lori Loughlin?s daughter Olivia Jade the fake crew rower talking about how she doesn?t really care about school and she just wants to go to college to party.
