In a recent interview, Kruger discussed her role in ?Farewell My Queen,? which was clearly a departure from her body of work thus far.
"It's definitely a very grown-up part for me. I'm not sure I would have been able to have the insight into Marie Antoinette five years ago. But every once in a while in your career a role comes along that is pretty scary, and you have to use the tools that you have learned through your experience, and that's a wonderful feeling."

While Liam Hemsworth’s in San Diego for Comic-Con, Miley Cyrus has flown across the pond to London. I’ve noticed lately that Miley is very affectionate and is often photographed holding hands and getting touchy-feely with her friends. The only one that she’s not holding hands with is Liam Hemsworth, which yeah, let’s not go there today. Miley is shown here on a night out with Nicole Scherzinger (a judge on UK’s “X Factor”) at a venue known (quite appropriately) as The Box. While Miley’s own “box” might not be showing in these photos, it’s a close call for sure. Our photo agencies got some shots that reveal a massive, unflattering wedgie, and these shorts can’t possibly allow for comfortable sitting.
Although I have to admit to having a bit of crush on Miley’s assistant, Cheyne Thomas. Is he gay? Who knows, but the guy is seriously cute.
Meanwhile, Miley would like us all to know (via a crotch-grabbing, underboob-heavy Twitpic) that she “Ain’t worrrrrriieddd bout nothin but my my #bizzzznassss.” In addition, Miley has given an interview to the Daily Mail, and she reveals that — surprise! — she really was “dancing with Molly” in her “We Can’t Stop” song. This is a mildly interesting admission after Miley’s producer insisted she’d never sing about MDMA. Miley also says the video was even more explicit before censors had their way:
Her video was even more explicit: “No gyrating, no ———-, there was a lot less. They took out literally everything. I thought the video wasn?’t bad, then MTV in the UK sent, like, 18 notes asking for changes.”
Being a Disney star was so awful: “I wasn’t really worried about it because I feel that time was something that I had to do what everyone has to do — work at something that you don’t necessarily love to get to be able to do what you do love. I would say everyone has to start from the bottom, to get where they want to go and work on things they don?t really care about doing. So I had to do that for five years. I had to work on something that wasn’t really a passion for me just because I wanted to be able to get here, so when I was older I’d be able to just do what I want and not have to work for money.’”
On the censors: “Then I’ll give you an edit. I just think the world is so lame because you can shoot people in a movie and you can let people like Zimmerman off on trial but you can?t have someone going like this (she stimulates oral sex gesture), that is so dumb to me.”
She’s not worried about alienating her fans: “People need to also remember that Britney when she did Slave or anything it was just a different time so it was less real because Can?t Stop I wanted it to be kind of gritty, like everything is about Instagram, about things going viral and I wanted to celebrate that. But Britney or Madonna never played it safe, none of the best pop artists ever did. I feel like I live in a different world, I live in LA, I see everything.”
About that “Molly” reference: “It depends who?s doing what. If you?re aged ten it?s ‘Miley,’ if you know what I?m talking about then you know. I just wanted it to be played on the radio and they?ve already had to edit it so much.”
Her version of growing up: “I don?t think people have a hard time understanding that I?ve grown up. You can Google me and you know what I?m up to – you know what that lyric is saying.”

The main problem I have with Miley’s words is that her version of “grown up” means partying and taking drugs. Not necessarily pot but Molly (which she is now essentially admitting to doing) and coke (which is still alleged, but I believe it). To most people, growing up means holding down full-time work and possibly raising children as well. Yet Miley aims to glorify the 24/7, club-going lifestyle where she “don’t need nothing from nobody.” Also, I wish Miley had some awareness that not everyone’s idea of “start[ing] at the bottom” includes making millions of dollars on a Disney Channel show.

The ?Keeping Up with the Kardashians? reality starlet showed off her curves in a black one-piece swimsuit as she floated around with her son Mason and daughter Penelope.
And while she?s constantly in front of one camera or another, Kourtney told press she?s felt less urgency to get back into pre-baby shape after giving birth to her youngest child.
Kardashian explained, "It was harder to lose weight the second time around. I gained 45 pounds with Penelope. This time, the focus is really on being a mom and being present, knowing my priorities."

Lindsay Lohan still has another week or so of court-ordered rehab, I believe. I seem to remember that her exit-date is supposed to be the beginning of August. Lindsay has been in Cliffside, the Malibu facility, for about a month, after transferring there from the Betty Ford Clinic. Most outlets are reporting that Lindsay?s rehab stay is going well, that she?s made progress but her sobriety still seems tentative. There are concerns that as soon as she?s released, she?ll go back to New York and stay with her cracked-out mother, and they?ll be doing mother-daughter club-crawls and LL?s sobriety will be out the window within 48 hours of leaving rehab. Which? is probably the way it will happen exactly. To make matters worse, it seems like Mother Crackhead has been simmering in a vat of booze while Lindsay is in rehab. Because of course she would.
Lindsay Lohan’s mother has been banned from participating in her rehab treatment after a drunken phone call a few weeks ago … TMZ has learned.
Sources tell us shortly before Lindsay’s birthday, July 2, Cliffside rehab facility got Dina on the phone — so LiLo could have a conversation with her.
But we’re told the person from the clinic who spoke to Dina believed she was hammered, and quickly nixed the idea of letting her speaking to Lindsay.
Furthermore, we’re told the rehab team felt it would be best for LiLo’s treatment if she stopped talking to Dina altogether for the rest of her stay.
Good luck, Oprah.

Evan got in a little bit of trouble last week when she innocently tweeted, ?Whoa. Whoa. Peanut Butter Pop Tarts?! Of course, because I can’t smoke any weed right now. Dammit!? I thought that was funny, and that she was just tweeting something about her bizarre pregnancy cravings. But people freaked out because OMG POT and so Evan deleted the tweet and posted this one: ?So apparently when you make a joke about pop tarts, people hear “I miss smoking weed” for those of you who dont know. I missed the memo.?
Evan?s Twitter is interesting ? she?s been tweeting about Trayvon Martin and a lot of stuff about Voter ID laws and anti-choice legislation. She?s a political liberal, but she?s not just tweeting endless political stuff either. She also tweets stuff like ?My cat is snoring in my face.? And ?When a pregnant woman says she just ‘rolled’ out of bed, she is being very serious.?

I know the rage of Comic-Con was hot Loki with a side of Fassbender guns, but Olivia Munn was at the prolonged, overwarmed event too. Olivia was there with boyfriend Joel Kinnaman at the Kick-Ass 2 party (which is weird because neither of them are in the film), but I don’t think that panel got too much attention. Everyone at the Con was all about the Loki, and for good reason.
Elsewhere, Olivia is promoting her role in the second season of “The Newsroom,” and I know that she can be sort of generally insufferable because she’s constantly posing for Maxim-level, cheesecake pictorials while also pointing out how smart and funny she is. But she’s talking about a topic now that might soften her up just a bit. Munn reveals that she suffers from trichotillomania, which is an anxiety disorder that causes people to pull out their own hair. Some people limit the practice to scalp hair while others move on to eyebrows and eyelashes. Olivia says that her case is the eyelash-plucking variety; she has spoken about this issue previously, but now Olivia reveals how she covers the results up for the cameras:
It?s hard to believe when you see her confident performance on The Newsroom, but Olivia Munn suffers from anxiety so severe that it causes her to pull out her own eyelashes.
“It?s called trichotillomania,” the actress, 33, told PEOPLE Wednesday at the L?Oreal Women in Digital Awards in N.Y.C. “It’s the same thing as people who bite their nails.”
Munn’s condition, which began when she was 26, is triggered by big social situations. “If I were to walk into someone’s birthday party, I’d have a bad anxiety attack,” she admits, which in turn causes her to start lash-pulling.
Fortunately, the star’s experience in the makeup chair has given her the know-how to put together an easy fix. “I just created my own little lash-band with individuals,” she says, adding that she has a powder mix that she applies to her eyelids to help the false lashes adhere.
The rest of her beauty routine is simple: relying on “a good lip balm [she likes a Body Shop one] and a hair tie” to beat the summer heat.
And her final beauty must: Showing off her freckles. “I’ve had them since I can remember … it’s just my skin,” she tells PEOPLE. “I don’t like it when people try to cover them up!”

Man, what a pain. I can see how hard it could be for an actress to cope with an absence of eyelashes, but wouldn’t it just be easier for Olivia to buy some falsies instead of sewing her own lashes together? I don’t know how that works, but I can sympathize a little bit with her plight because I went through a hair-pulling phase of my own during grad school, and that sh-t took forever to grow out. This is a very common disorder, apparently, and I’m not quite saying that Olivia is revealing her disorder as a means of appealing to the masses, but it just might help people feel a little less harsh about her.

The Lone Ranger saga is not over yet! Here are some photos from the UK premiere of the film where Gore Verbinski and Disney are hoping against hope to recoup some of this movie’s losses. Kaiser and I have both discussed how terribly this film has performed in North America, but the disaster could be somewhat mitigated by a decent international take. As I’ve said before though and even though Johnny Depp’s films usually do great on a global scale, I don’t see Johnny’s fans turning out for this overwrought piece of Americana. I haven’t seen the movie (and don’t plan to do so, but my brother likes everything and walked out after 10 minutes), but here’s the main problem — a $250 million budget before publicity. That’s gotta hurt.
At any rate, Johnny and Armie Hammer are still promoting this cinematic tofurky, and Johnny definitely looks like the movie star that he is at this premiere. Look at that stage presence and total lack of scarves. Johnny cleans up so well.
Compared to Johnny, Armie looks like a total amateur in this red suit. Why so bright, Armie? This suit is pretty awful, and I can’t make any excuses for it at all. And a brown tie? Yuck.
In sharp contrast to her husband, Elizabeth Chambers looked absolutely fantastic. I covet this dress and her hair too.
After the premiere, Johnny took Amber Heard out to dinner at Cipriani. I don’t think these two are going to last at all, but Amber sure is breathtakingly pretty in this red dress. See, this is what red should look like.

We didn?t cover the Trayvon Martin story, case and verdict for a reason. It?s not that we don?t have thoughts and opinions on the situation, it?s just that A) we really try to stay focused on celebrity, pop culture and entertainment gossip and B) I personally didn?t want to create some kind of forum where everyone starts yelling at each other. I can?t read the comment threads on many sites because the threads upset me too much. This particular situation is extraordinarily painful and sensitive for many people, so just keep that in mind with your comments. I?m not going to go on and on about it, but I?ll just say this: as a half-Indian woman who is often confused for Hispanic and Arab, I have more to fear from an armed wannabe cop than a black kid, you know?
Anyway, these are some photos from the NYC rally in honor of Trayvon. Hundreds of rallies took place across the country this weekend, and this NYC one was co-hosted by Rev. Al Sharpton. Beyonce and Jay-Z came out, but didn?t speak.
A day after Jay Z and Justin Timberlake dedicated the song “Forever Young” to slain teen Trayvon Martin at their July 19 concert at Yankee Stadium, the rapper and his wife, Beyonce, attended a rally to fight for justice in the teen’s honor in New York City on Saturday, July 20.
The rally, which was also attended by Rev. Al Sharpton, community leaders, and members of public, was organized in wake of the highly-publicized trial and sentence involving Martin.
(During a February altercation, George Zimmerman, 29, a neighborhood watch volunteer, claimed he shot Martin in self-defense after the youth, who was unarmed, knocked him to the ground, punched him, and slammed his head against the sidewalk. The fatal shooting sparked a heated debate about racial profiling around the country after Zimmerman was found not guilty of second-degree murder and was acquitted of manslaughter during the July 13 sentencing.)
At the rally, the “Girls (Run the World)” singer, 31, and her hubby, 43, kept a low profile, but posed with Sharpton and Martin’s mother, Sybrina Fulton at one point during the day.
According to Huffington Post, 58-year-old Sharpton, a civil rights activist, recognized that the star couple were in attendance during his speech.
“Jay Z and Beyonce said they didn’t want to speak and they didn’t come for a photo op,” Sharpton said. “Beyonce put a beautiful message up on Instagram. Let me tell you, that before a lot of you were down, Jay Z always supported us.”
“Jay Z told me, ‘I’m a father. Beyonce is a mother.’ We all feel the pain and apprehension — the laws must protect everybody, or it doesn’t protect anybody,” Sharpton continued. “We do not come from hate, we come from love of children.”
In the Instagram post Sharpton was referring to, Beyonce wrote “#justicefortrayvon” and posted a black photo a week ago. During her July 13 concert, which started shortly after the sentence was reached, she also asked the crowd to participate in a moment of silence for Martin before singing “I Will Always Love You” and “Halo.”
At Jay Z’s sold-out with Justin Timberlake on July 19 at Yankee Stadium, the duo dedicated their final song, a rendition of “Forever Young” in honor of Martin. “This is for Trayvon, so light up your cell phones New York!,” Jay Z yelled, with the “Mirrors” singer adding, “One more time for Trayvon, New York!”
In a newly posted picture from the rally, the mom to Blue Ivy, 18 months, posted a picture of four hands wearing bracelets for Martin, simply captioning the Instagram picture, “#ActNow4Trayvon.”

What pleased me about the first rallies ? and what has continued throughout this weekend?s rallies ? is that the African-American community isn?t the only group upset about the verdict. There are parents and young people and concerned citizens from every race and walk of life who are upset by what this situation means and what it says about our country. Just so.

The Guardian has a somewhat lengthy piece on Nicolas Cage where he clears up a few misconceptions about himself. A few of which include:
There is a misperception, if you will, in critical response or even in Hollywood, that I can only do exaggerated characters. Or what they would call over-the-top performances.” He pauses, as if issuing an historic statement from the podium: “Well, this is completely false.”
“Another misconception about me is that Ijust do movies for pay cheques.”
“That I’m obsessed with comics.”
“The other big misconception, which needs to be cleared up in my opinion, is video on demand.” (His new movie,
The Frozen Ground, has a limited cinema release and will be available on demand, which, given the demand for on demand, Cage wishes critics would stop using as shorthand for failure.)
Also, his reputation for excess. “For a while there, it was the three Cs; castles, comic books and cars.” He gives me a doleful look. “I just can’t get that stuff off of me.”
Nic also doesn’t really know why he’s become an internet meme of sorts. His hair being a bird thus invalidating your argument, numerous Tumblr blogs like this of him as everyone and most notably, this mashup calledNicolas Cage Losing His Shit.
He then wanted everyone to know that he’s in on the joke. Nic talked about his role inWicker Man and said he and everyone else knew how absurd the movie was.
And then there’s The Wicker Man, the recent Neil LaBute remake that I didn’t think was as appalling as everyone else did. “The issue with The Wicker Man is there’s a need by some folks in the media to think that we’re not in on the joke. But you don’t go around doing the things that character does ? in a bear suit ? and not know it’s absurd. It is absurd. Now, originally I wanted to play that cop with a handlebar moustache and like a really stiff suit, and the producers wouldn’t let me do it.” Oh, Nic! “And then you would have known how in on it we were, Neil and myself. The fact that that movie has been so lambasted means there’s an inner trembling and power to that movie. It has become an electromagnetic movie! And so I love it.”
Sadly, he didn’t end the interview by screaming, “No, not the bees. Not the bees!” But I bet he would have if The Guardian threw a beehive at him like any other Nic Cage fan would have. Rookie mistake.
There’s also one last thing I wanted to mention. Nic explained why he started buying castles and mansions at one point. He said they were investments.
“I had to put the money somewhere, and I was a big believer in real estate, and I got caught up in that bubble that exploded. I thought it was real. I didn’t trust stocks and I didn’t trust just leaving it in the bank. I believed in real estate. So now I’m working through all that.”
So someone needs to sit Nic down and explain to him that when people say real estate is a wise investment, they aren’t talking about luxury houses and places where they filmThe Game of Thrones. They’re talking cheap $200k houses in the suburbs where the mortgage is covered by rent.
