Lily Allen stepped in it again last week when she admitted on her podcast that she?d given away the rescue puppy that she and husband David Harbour adopted during the pandemic. Lily was showing her guest, Welsh TV host Steve Jones, a picture of a dog that she and David were looking at adopting. Steve asks her if they?re ready for that commitment and she responds, ?We did adopt a dog together already but then it ate my passport and so I took her back to the home.? She then went on to explain that the dog, named Mary, had eaten her and her two children?s passports and visas, which cost her a lot of money to replace and prevented her children from being able to visit their father in London for several months.
After the podcast aired, there was a pretty big backlash against Lily online. From what I saw, most people were calling her out for laughing about giving the dog back. Apparently, it didn?t stop there, though. Lily released a long statement via Twitter on Monday morning, pushing back on the way the story had been portrayed by the media, calling it ?deliberately distorted.? She also shared that she?s received a lot of hateful messages, as well as ?death threats? as a result of the coverage. The statement also explains and clarifies the entire situation and then begs people to stop reacting to every clickbaity thing they read.
Allen began with a quote from her Miss Me? podcast, on which she originally discussed giving up the adopted pet. We tried very hard and for a very long time, she said, but the passports were the straw that broke the camels back.
She continued in her statement, This is the part of the podcast that the tabloids decided not to quote in their articles about me dumping my puppy. People have been furiously reacting to a deliberately distorted cobbling together of quotes designed to make people angry and as a result, Ive received some really abhorrent messages including death threats. Some of the most disgusting comments have been all over my social media channels, and Im really not surprised because this is exactly what those articles are designed to do.
We rescued our puppy Mary from a shelter in NY and we loved her very much, but she developed pretty severe separation anxiety and would act out in all manner of ways, Allen wrote in her statement. She couldnt be left alone for more than 10 mins. She had three long walks a day ? two by us and one with a local dog walker and several other dogs. We worked with the shelter that we rescued her from and they referred us to a behavioral specialist and a professional trainer. It was a volunteer from the shelter who would come and dog-sit her when we were away, and after many months and much deliberation everyone was in agreement that our home wasnt the best fit for Mary.
Allen went on to say that shes had rescue dogs pretty consistently throughout her life and had never been accused of mistreating an animal, so the past few days had been very distressing. She ended her statement with a plea for people to stop acting on clickbait articles when you havent done your due diligence, referencing the recent racially driven xenophobic riots in the U.K. that she said were spurred on by distorted propaganda.
Its just all so toxic and I know that we can do better, she said.

I listened to the original clip of Lily telling the story about Mary. On one hand, if you just take the one sound bite, it does come across like she is being very flippant about getting rid of the dog. The passport context is there, but she says things like, ?I just couldn?t look at her?I was like, ?You?ve ruined my life.?? I understand how some people without the clickbait titles could get upset. Also, and this is just a general reminder, don?t keep important, hard-to-replace documents laying around when there are children, pets, or even guests around to potentially destroy them.
On the other hand, sometimes people and animals just don?t click because they?re not the right fit. Lily?s full explanation about using a behavioral specialist and professional trainer to help with Mary?s anxiety makes the whole situation make a lot more sense. I?m glad that she clarified that the puppy was rehomed within a day to people that she knew. Wherever Mary is now, I hope she?s living her best life, full of treats and cuddles.

Lily Allen co-hosts a podcast, called Miss Me, with her longtime best friend, Miquita Oliver. They say they?ve been friends ?since birth.? As you probably know, Lily has always been an open, outspoken, oversharer. Since she and Miquita began Miss Me, Lily has had a platform to say all sorts of crazy sh-t. (Not kidding; on the May 27 ep, she talked about once having diarrhea while onstage during a concert.) It?s generally good gossip fodder, at least. On the most recent episode of the pod, Lily and Miquita talked about the fact that Lily f-cked a pop star that her best-friend-since-birth had a crush on. She did it on purpose, too.
Lily Allen knows something about sabotage. During the Monday, June 3 episode of her podcast Miss Me, which she hosts with best friend Miquita Oliver, the pop singer, 39, revealed that she once deliberately slept with her co-hosts celebrity crush. The British TV presenter, 40, recalled a time when she interviewed a pop star in the early aughts that had a big album and she found out he fancied her.
Careful who you tell things to ? I told Lily that I liked him and she was like, Well actually I like him, and I was like, Well it doesnt matter because he actually likes me, Oliver said. She explained that the Smile performer wasnt a pop star then, but Allen ? who was working artist relations at the time ? went to a festival in Japan and seduced him.
When Oliver found out Allen slept with him, she said she had never been that angry with her friend.
We did not speak for about six months, the former The Month with Miquita host recalled. But the Alfie musician maintained that she wasnt trying to sabotage Oliver.
?I fancied him, so I was getting mine, Allen said, adding: By the way, I think pop stars are fair game, like, I don?t care.
However, the TV personality felt that at the time she had been sabotaged by Allen.
The point is we got over it, Oliver said.
The singer-songwriter/actress then apologized saying she never wants to cause her friend pain.
I actually thought youd just be happy for me, Allen admitted with a laugh.

Umm, not gonna lie, but Lily sounds like a terrible friend. What a bitch move. There are plenty of fish in the sea, especially if you?re a nepo baby who runs in rich, privileged, famous-people circles like Lily did. She wanted to pull a power move over her friend, so she did just that. And yes, I would think the same thing if it were a man ?getting his? with someone that his friend had a crush on. It?s not like Lily and Pop Star X were star-crossed lovers or soulmates. She just wanted to stake a claim in something that her best friend wanted. Thinking Miquita would be ?happy? for her is also bonkers because you know if the situation had been reversed, they would still not be talking. Kudos to Miquita for being the bigger person and getting over it because I don?t know if I?d ever again fully trust someone who did that to me.

When Lily Allen posted her one-year sober announcement on Instagram, I mentioned that people wondered why she wasnt vacationing with her boyfriend, David Harbour. Many of you gave very good possible reasons, too. But some folks at other sites questioned if this meant the end of their year-long romance. Nope! The couple just filed for a Las Vegas marriage license so I guess they?re getting hitched!
It looks like Lily Allen and David Harbour are planning to wed!
The 35-year-old singer and the 45-year-old Stranger Things actor obtained a marriage license in Las Vegas, via TMZ on Tuesday (September 8).
The license information says that the couple acquired it on Sunday (September 6), and it?s valid for one year to the date, meaning that they have until September 6, 2021 to get married before it expires. It is also possible that they already had a wedding in Las Vegas, but have not yet filled out the certificate.

For a couple that came out of the gate hard with street PDA and fawning over each other on social media, David and Lily quickly went underground. But instead of it being a case of the heat fizzling out, it looks like their passion led them to solid, lasting love instead. I?m happy for them. Both David and Lily have been through some real personal journeys that led them to where they are now. Career wise, David is still working fairly solidly, and Lily is finally back in the recording studio. Going by their Instagram pages, David looks to be a big part of Lily?s daughters? lives and now he gets to be their stepdad.
I?m wondering about the information being leaked like this, though. I almost feel like the couple wanted this to serve as their announcement. Maybe they feel if they don?t discuss it directly, people won?t feel entitled to any details and they can go off and marry on their own terms. Or maybe it?s just an honest leak. It?s hard to tell because David and Lily did such a 180 from how much they put their relationship out there in the beginning to how quiet they are now. It?s great, they are living their love on their terms, that?ll make for a successful marriage. I know they don?t owe me anything, but I hope they post pics I imagine they?d have a really fun wedding.

Regardless of your opinion of Lily Allen, her story about being stalked for the last seven years will chill you. She recently sat down with BBC Newsnight to discuss the ordeal as well as how she felt victim-shamed by the Metropolitan police. I have summarized due to length but you can read the full Guardian exclusive here. In short, seven years ago, someone tweeted under the name @lilyallenRIP that they had written her song The Fear. What followed was almost a decade of harassing letters, rants and threats. The police honed in on a man named Alex Gray, whom Lily herself had yet to encounter in person. One night, while Lily was on stage, a man matching the description she had been given of her stalker held up a banner saying ?I wrote The Fear.? Lily went back to the police begging to see a photo of their suspect. After a few tries, the police finally relinquished. Everything culminated last October when somebody broke into Lily?s house.
In October last year, Allen burned her dinner. ?I had had all sorts of metal shutters and locks on the doors, but I?d been cooking and burned a pan and opened the back door. I closed it but forgot to lock it when I went to bed.? Asleep with her friend, her children in their room across the hall, Allen was awoken in the early hours by a terrific banging on the wall. ?I sat up and looked and the doorhandle was twisting round. This guy came steaming in and I didn?t know who he was. I recoiled and he ripped the duvet off, calling me a ?fucking bitch? and yelling about where his dad is.?
The man had an object stuffed inside his jacket that Allen is convinced was a knife. She believes he was caught off guard when he found she was not alone, and her friend was able to shove the man out of the house as she ran to check that her children were safe. ?There was this second outside my kids? room when I was terrified to go in, in case of what I might find.?
The police told Allen the intruder was probably someone who had stumbled into the wrong flat after too much to drink. ?For me, it was too much of a coincidence that the only night I had left the shutters up, this man came in. I believe he had been spending a lot of time out there in my garden, watching.?
Calling the police back the next day, Allen told them she thought the intruder could be the same man who had been threatening her.
?But they were uncomfortable with the idea. Then I realised my handbag was missing and the change in atmosphere was palpable, it was like a sigh of relief: ?now it?s burglary ? we understand that?.?
?For me, the burglary was like this insignificant thing compared to what he was doing to me and my life. After about a week, I went out as I was due to DJ at an event. I hadn?t had any contact from police, I presumed they were actively searching for him; it?s now apparent to me that wasn?t the case. When I arrived home, my handbag was on the bonnet of my car outside my house. Burnt. Everything pulled out and cut up or burned and the bag burned.? Gray was subsequently caught and charged with burglary.
?I want some answers from the police. I?m a famous person and had the inclination to push things. If they treat me like this, how the hell are they going to treat someone else without those resources, without clout??

I cringed at her quote about standing outside her kids’ door scared of what she would find. Lily says this ordeal has greatly impacted her personal life. She says she is uncomfortable being out and about, which has to be difficult for someone whose profession demands a public life.
Alex Gray was found guilty of burglary and harassment and is awaiting sentencing. According to Lily, the police told her if she wanted a jail sentence, they had to prosecute with the burglary charge. It is harder to get a conviction for stalking than burglary in the US so maybe the same is true in the UK? However, if you read the full article, there are many questions unanswered like why the police destroyed all the letters Lily gave them from her stalker, citing only ?police protocol?. For what it?s worth, the police did say that they took the stalking seriously but could not comment any further on this case. I imagine Lily did feel like she wasn?t being taken seriously but we don?t know why the police acted as they did. I just hope Lily and her children are safe now. Thank God she had a friend sleeping over that night.

In music news, Lily just released the video for her new anti-blogger song ?URL Badman? ahead of her tour with Miley Cyrus.

A few weeks ago, Lily Allen participated in a Reddit AMA. The AMA was full of arse-kissing, which I?m sure pleased Lily to no end. That?s the whole reason she ?returned? to the music industry ? she?s a drama queen, she loves free crap, she loves trash-talking other celebrities, she loves to be the center of attention, and she?ll go to the opening of an envelope. Anyway, during the AMA, Lily was asked about her brother, Alfie Allen, and his part as Theon Greyjoy in Game of Thrones. This is what Lily wrote:
Reddit: How did you feel when you told Alfie to get a job and he immediately went & got a job on the coolest show on TV?
Lily: Well, that was about a 5 year disparity between the two! But I?ve been asked to do a Game of Thrones cameo, they asked me if I?d be interested in playing Theon?s sister, and I felt uncomfortable because I would have had to go on a horse and he would have touched me up and sh–. Once they told me what was entailed, I said no thanks. I would be open to doing a musical cameo like Sigur Ros, though.?

I included a link to that story a few weeks ago, and many of thought she was full of it, that the character of Yara Greyjoy was no ?cameo? and that the role was too important to be played by someone like Lily. Well, you were right. Lily is a liar and a drama queen. Alfie Allen was speaking to Vulture, and this is what he had to say:
Vulture: Your sister Lily Allen recently said she had been asked to play the part of Yara. True?
Alfie Allen: I heard about this, yeah. The only thing I’m going to say on that is that it’s not true. And also that Gemma Whalen was always their first choice for the part. And she’s fantastic. And that’s the only thing I’m going to say about that.
