Elizabeth Banks has a big success on her hands with Cocaine Bear. It feels like she took the film on for a lark, but my gawd did it pay off. Good for her. I want to be angry that in light of her accomplishments as a director we?re talking about beauty and aging, but Elizabeth partnered with No7 so she wants to talk about skincare products. Elizabeth, who is a recent convert to retinol, doesn?t want to dictate how anyone should look or feel as they get older. She feels the person should define what aging gracefully means for them. The important part is to find a way to embrace aging because, as we?ve heard before, it?s a privilege not everyone gets.
Elizabeth Banks is embracing the aging process.
The actress and director, who just saw her most recent project Cocaine Bear hit theaters, turned 49 last month, and shes embracing her age.
My philosophy really is age gracefully, whatever that means to you, she tells PEOPLE of the aging process. For her, it means treating her skin with the right ingredients, including those found in No7s stable of skin-loving products.
Banks, who recently partnered with the U.K.-fave brand, tells PEOPLE that at the urging of her dermatologist to try retinol on her aging skin, she found No7. Admitting she was hesitant about how drying retinol could be, Banks says she was skeptical. However, No7s retinol products convinced her.
I was thrilled by them, she gushes. I had to step up my beauty routine, and No7 made me feel comfortable changing things up. People can be a little afraid of change, but No7 made it okay.
We live in a society that loves and values youth and beauty, she says. I get it. I love looking at beautiful young people too. I like to remind people, youre never going to look as good as you do today, right now, because aging is a privilege. Its better than the alternative, right? You want to age, trust me.
It can be easier said than done, though, Banks says. As shes looking ahead to entering a new decade, though, she encourages people to examine why they feel that pressure to look a certain way.
If its for you, if its your mental health looking in the mirror, then do what you need to do to keep yourself feeling confident every day, she says. But if youre looking around and going, You know what? I dont need to do this for somebody else, then make your decisions based on that.
[From People]
?You know what? I dont need to do this for somebody else, then make your decisions based on that. I agree with this wholeheartedly. I feel it?s when people make beauty choices for other people that they really go awry. When a person makes a choice for themselves, they know exactly what they want to do, like I want less lines around my eyes or I don?t like my grey hair. But if the choices are to please someone else, sometimes it?s shooting blind. Guessing what someone else wants fixed leads to the wrong thing getting tweaked (or too many tweaks).
As for retinol, I?m glad it works for those it does, but I can?t. I guess it?s a good thing I don?t mind the roadmap on my face because I just gave retinol a second chance and the burn was so bad it took almost two weeks before I could apply any product to my face. So like Elizabeth said, my version of aging gracefully is going to include lines, I guess.

I like Elizabeth Banks a lot and I completely support her transition from actress to big-time producer and director. She produced the Pitch Perfect franchise and directed the second film. She also put together the reboot of Charlie?s Angels she really wanted to remake it, and she pulled it together, got Kristen Stewart on board, directed and produced it and she stars as Bosley. Charlie?s Angels came out last Friday. It bombed, only making $8.6 million in its opening weekend. Banks took it standing up:
Well, if you?re going to have a flop, make sure your name is on it at least 4x. I?m proud of #CharliesAngels and happy it?s in the world.

| Elizabeth Banks: 'I?m trying to age gracefully, I?ve never had a needle in my face' | Added 5 years ago | Source: CeleBitchy |

Elizabeth Banks is 45 years old. She looks great for any age, right? You can tell that she takes care of herself, plus she probably just has great genes. But does she look tweaked in any way? Not to me I think she looks younger than 45, for sure, but as I said? good skincare. Good makeup. Sleep. Drinking water. I buy that she?s not going under the knife or under the needle. That?s what she says too, that she?s all-natural.
Elizabeth Banks is a natural beauty. The ?Charlie?s Angels? director, 45, revealed that unlike most Hollywood women, she has never had cosmetic surgery, and doesn?t plan on getting any in the future.
?I?m trying to age gracefully,? Banks told Dax Shepard on Monday?s episode of his ?Armchair Expert? podcast. ?That?s something I will happily say to everyone like I have not put anything in my face, I?ve never had a needle in my face ? I?m really uninterested in the psychology of starting to mess with my face. I would do it if I could happily look in the mirror and not have emotional or psychological baggage doing it but I just ? I don?t want to do it and I?m trying to resist and there?s a reason for that and I have to honor it.?
?I feel the way about those kinds of doctors as I do about a lot of things, like, you are putting your livelihood and your life into their hands and who knows what could go wrong ? like why am I doing that?? she said. ?And then I?ve also had friends and my sister who like, have faced cancer and have had surgeries and stuff and you?re like, why would I voluntarily put myself under a knife and like anesthesia and all that? It?s all so dangerous, is my point.?
The movie star recalled a moment in her early acting years when she visited an agent who suggested she get a breast augmentation. ?I was like, ?It?s all going to be totally obvious now if I do that now. I?m not interested in that,? she said.
Banks is hoping beauty standards will change so that she won?t feel pressure to get work done when she?s older. ?I will need it, I mean, but that?s only if we decide that our society tells women that they need to stay looking young,? she said. ?I?m just over it.? As for how she stays looking young without fillers or facelifts? Banks said it?s ?genetics, I guess.?
[From Page Six]
Personally, I don?t look at it as ?why would I undergo an elective procedure with my family history,? I look at it as ?well, I hate needles and the idea of a scalpel on my skin makes me want to vomit, I guess I?m aging naturally.? I mean, if they invent some kind of procedure that doesn?t involve surgery or needles, maybe I would try that. Like, can they do everything with lasers now? And even then, I would just develop a complex about What Could Wrong With Lasers. Banks is probably the same! So, yeah, natural aging for us.

OK nerds, this one’s for you: according to my sources, these shots of Elizabeth Banks all covered in dirt and dressed in greenspandex aren’t fromone of those artsy “high-fashion” photoshoots I never understand. They’re the first look at her character in the new Power Rangers movie. And I’m guessing that’s probably giving at least a […]

| Elizabeth Banks will not direct Pitch Perfect 3: 'It was all timing' | Added 8 years ago | Source: CeleBitchy |

The picture above is Elizabeth Banks at the Glamour Woman of the Year Awards in London yesterday. Elizabeth is a real force in Hollywood. She has a successful production company, Brownstone Productions, she has earned critical praise as an actress and her first full-length feature directorial debut, Pitch Perfect 2, grossed over $287 million. But because Elizabeth is so down to earth, I forget how much of a power player she is; she?s just quietly triumphant in the industry.
PP2 was successful enough to get a third swing at bat and Elizabeth?s was signed on to direct again. It was recently announced that PP3 was being pushed back from July 2017 to December 2017 due to a hold up in production. The good news is that hold up is an attempt to get a good story for the third movie. The bad news is now Elizabeth will not be able to direct as it conflicts with her other job of being a mother.
Kids over everything! Elizabeth Banks recently announced she will not returning to direct Pitch Perfect 3, and it?s because the gig interfered with her parenting responsibilities.
Banks discussed her decision to exit her director role at the annual PGA Produced By Conference in Culver City, California . ?It was all timing,? she said, according to The Hollywood Reporter. ?We feel obligated to put out the best movie and anyone who has done sequels, this third one is hard to figure out what the story is. We want to give the audience what it wants but not making it repetitive.?
Banks explained that it took longer than she expected to develop the story line, and the delay pushed the release date back from July 2017 to December 2017. ?We have been in development and it took longer than we thought, and I needed to shoot another movie in the summer. If we pushed into fall it bumped up against my parental responsibilities, which made me feel uncomfortable,? she said.
The Hunger Games actress and her husband Max Handelman are parents to Felix, 5, and Magnus, 3. The actress welcomed both children though gestational surrogate, and has been candid about her past struggles to get pregnant.
[From Us Magazine]
Felix is 5 so he is likely starting Kindergarten this fall. If that?s the case, I understand her motivation. I am not militant about structure but I do believe in schedules and my whole world changed when I became bound to a school schedule. Elizabeth has spoken before of how miserable she finds herself when her acting jobs limit the amount of time she gets to spend with her kids. Elizabeth, who is a producer on all three Pitch Perfect films, made the decision; it is not a reflection on her capabilities as a director. She is still directing Red Queen and the Charlie?s Angels reboot in addition to a TV movie called The Greater Good. Plus, she has the role as Rita Repulsa in The Mighty Morphins Power Rangers and her voice work – notably Wyldstyle in The Lego Movie projects. (If you haven?t caught it yet, her character in the series Moonbeam City with Rob Lowe is an absolute riot.)
I give Elizabeth credit not only for doing what?s best for her by giving up the director job, but for doing what is right for the movie and not shoving it out the door with a half-baked story. I loved Pitch Perfect, I liked Pitch Perfect 2 and I have no idea where they would take Pitch Perfect 3. Elizabeth will be back as Gail, which is great because her and John Higgins Clarke?s commentary is one of the best part of both movies.

| Elizabeth Banks on the wage gap: 'you start to feel that it's kind of bullsh-' | Added 8 years ago | Source: CeleBitchy |

2015 was quite the busy year for actress/director/producer Elizabeth Banks. She earned critical praise for her roles in the Brian Wilson biopic Love and Mercy and The Hunger Games: Mockingjay ? Part 2. In addition, she signed a 2-year contract with Universal and began work on two new movies, Heist Society and White Girl Problems. Oh, and there was her directorial debut, Pitch Perfect 2, which earned a whopping $287.1 million worldwide. 2016 looks even brighter for Elizabeth as she’s set to direct Pitch Perfect 3 and a big screen adaptation of the young adult novel Red Queen, as well as a Charlie?s Angels reboot (why?) Speaking of reboots, Elizabeth was just cast as villainess Rita Repulsa for the upcoming Mighty Morphin Power Rangers movie.
Who knew that Elizabeth, whom audiences took notice of in her small but memorable part as a randy book store employee in The 40-Year-Old Virgin, would make it so big? She recently spoke with Vanity Fair about her success, working as a producer with her husband, Max Handelman, whom she married in 2003, and the still present wage gap between men and women in Hollywood. Here are some highlights from the interview:
On how she achieved success
“There?s only three things that can happen to you when you come to Hollywood. You can break big right away. You can work, work, work, and just be consistent. Or you can flame out. So (1) didn?t happen for me; (2) happened. And probably five years ago, I felt like, I?m O.K., I?m gonna work. Which gives you a lot of courage in this business. And you?d better understand that it is a business.”
She founded a production company with her husband
“We have always made decisions that kept us together as a couple. We like working together. We?re good at working together.”
On growing their company, Brownstone Productions
“We talked about producing as sort of a three-legged stool. You have to have taste, first. You have to have access?know writers and directors and agents. And then you have to have clout. And clout comes when you direct or produce a hit movie.”
“[Pitch Perfect was] not a one-off. When you do it twice, that?s meaningful. You actually knew what you were doing and there was design to what you did.”
On the wage gap
“I have two young boys. And they do not like to share and they do not like change. That?s humanity. As you go on in this business, especially as a woman, and you start thinking about all the opportunities and money that the men at your level are making, you definitely start to feel that it?s kind of bullsh-. I love acting. This all came about partially because I was frustrated in my acting career. I had nothing to lose by directing.”
[From Vanity Fair]
What a down to earth lady. I hope she encourages more women in Hollywood to fight this archaic wage gap. She’s no stranger to taking on causes – in fact, the first project she ever directed was a funny, informative P.S.A. for the American Heart Association called Just A Little Heart Attack. I am glad she’s still going to be in front of the camera as well. You know she’s going to bring it as Rita Repulsa, right? So yeah, I’ll go ahead and say it, the odds are certainly in her favor.

| Elizabeth Banks in Elie Saab at 'star Wars' premiere: frumpy or fun' | Added 8 years ago | Source: CeleBitchy |

Everyone and their brother was at the Star Wars: The Force Awakens premiere in LA last night, so we’ll be breaking up the coverage into a few different posts. There were plenty of big names there who aren’t in the movie, but surely would have loved to have been. It looks like the red carpet and after party were incredible and people are raving about the film. It’s said to do justice to the series and to highly entertaining. I can’t wait to see it and to see how much money it makes, I’m kind of excited about that. We have tickets to see it in 3D on Saturday!
Elizabeth Banks was in a really striking off the shoulder Elie Saab full length gown featuring an embroidered blue, red and black pattern which looks vaguely like poinsettias. The only thing that could make this dress better is if it was full-on holiday colors with red and green along with black. I really like how it has the illusion of being see-through mesh netting but isn’t quite. There’s something amazing about this dress, and I can only imagine the hours of craftsmanship that must have gone into it.
Harrison Ford and his wife of five years, Calista Flockhart, looked very matchy and cute in all black. I like her long sleeve tea length black gown. It has mirrored pieces along the neckline and looks very dressy and understated.
Carrie Fisher and her real life daughter, Billie Lourd, also in the movie, posed together on the red carpet and they looked like they’re having a great time. Carrie pretty much brings the party wherever she goes. She swore a lot on the red carpet and you can hear it in the livestream. Bille is in Reem Acra. Not a cute dress but her mom is distracting us from that.
Mark Hamill looking badass.
Getting back to people not in the film, Sarah Hyland and her boyfriend of about a year, her co-star in Vampire Academy, Dominic Sherwood, were loved up. Get a room kids! She’s in a metallic Kaufman Franco dress which looks perfect for the holidays.
Here’s Zendaya working the hell out of a silver turtleneck minidress paired with a see through plastic skirt with mirror sequins. I love this outfit, it’s incredible. Zendaya does her own makeup too! She needs to make YouTube tutorials.
Gina Rodriguez was in Halston. This dress isn’t that great but it’s making me want a black and white cookie.
I’m putting in Geena Davis because I love her and she’s incredible. She’s with her plastic surgeon husband, Reza Jarrahy. I like her white quilted dress with the furry cap sleeves. Everyone is so festive at this premiere it’s making me want to go shopping. (It doesn’t take much.)
