The ?Blow? actress looked gorgeous as ever in a red gown and diamond earrings as she signed autographs and smiled for the cameras before heading inside the theater in Munich.
In the latest issue of Vogue magazine, Cruz opened up about filming for ?Pirates? and being pregnant with her first child.
She told, ?I was pregnant and a pirate. A beautiful experience.?

Eager to check out Brad Pitt and Sean Penn's new movie, Gwen Stefani and Gavin Rossdale were spotted at ?The Tree of Life? premiere during the Cannes Film Festival on Monday (May 16).
Held at Palais des Festivals in Cannes, France, the ?Hollaback? singer looked fabulous in a designer cleavage-baring pant suit while her musician hubby rocked a black ensemble complete with his hair pulled back in a ponytail.
Prior to the red carpet premiere, the happy couple was able to spend some time with their two boys, Kingston and Zuma.
The family of four had been invited out to sea on a yacht owned by Russian businessman, Roman Abramovich.

The former "Lizzy McGuire" star was comfortably-clad in a striped long sleeve cardigan and loose black pants, seeming to have slipped into a state of relaxation during salon appointment.
The 23-year-old is currently readying herself for the May 20 release of her forthcoming drama "Bloodworth," a movie based on William Gay's novel "Provinces of Night."

The ?Man On Fire? actor also gave the commencement speech at the ceremony, sporting the traditional graduation garb and a pair of spectacles.
Denzel told the Ivy League graduates that he had to overcome insecurity to even show up and speak because he was afraid to ?make a fool of myself.?
He also encouraged the students to ?have the guts to fail- If you don?t fail you?re not even trying.?

OH. MY. GOD. Angelina is NOT wearing a sack dress, y?all. Of course, although it?s not a glittery sack (as the prophets had foretold), it?s still not technically a good look. Here are photos from the Cannes Film Festival premiere of Tree of Life. Brad was there. Sean Penn (and his crazy tomato face) were there. Jessica Chastain was there. And Brad?s lover Angelina was there, in this? I?m calling it ?chocolate?. This chocolate, satin, formal ball gown. I would like to see the ball gown with ball-gown-appropriate hair, please. Because if she?s just going to wear her hair down and kind of scraggly, just throw on a motherchucking sack dress.
I just saw that Angelina?s gown in Versace. I never would have guessed it, honestly. Usually Angelina + Versace = MAGIC, but not so much here. I do like the chocolate color on her, but this is just? too satiny, too fussy for Angelina. This looks like something Eva Longoria would wear. That?s the PROBLEM. (PS… there’s a thigh-high slit in the mix too. Ordinarily, I would like that, but this dress is too much for Jolie).
Oh, and is it just me, or is Jessica?s yellow gown very reminiscent of the Ungaro gown Angelina wore several years ago? Right? Same shade of yellow and everything.

On her tour: ?I love to dance, so it?s very exciting. The tour rehearsals have been going really well. I think it will be my best show yet.?
On being a mom: ?I think things through a little bit more, and I worry a lot. I?m more straightforward, and I speak up more than I did before. When I was younger, I wouldn?t speak up as much, but now that I?m a mom, things have changed.?
On what people don’t know about her: ?I?m pretty normal, you know? Like I said, the type of day I love is just like everybody else?s. I?m like everybody else.?
Oh please. Not that “I’m just like you” quote again. When are celebrities going to realize they’re far from “pretty normal?” Just because they may enjoy lounging around their 10 million dollar Malibu mansion like a normal person doesn’t make them so. That’s like you saying you and that homeless guy down the street are a lot a like because you both enjoy sleeping. The difference is while you’re sleeping on a bed, he’s sleeping on a pile of garbage while another bum nonchalantly takes a dump on him.

Here’s Brad Pitt at Cannes over the weekend channeling Colin Farrell channeling Sonny Crockett from Miami Vice. Brad was there promoting the hotly anticipated Terrence Malick film Tree of Life which debuted to mixed reviews. Though if you listened to the audience, you’d think it sucks. That’s because a few people in the crowd viciously booed at the end of the screening.
?The booing at the end of today?s Tree of Life screening was an ugly, animalistic thing that may explain why Malick doesn?t do press,? added IndieWire?s Eric Kohn (via EW).
Why can’t people leave the theater mumbling something about “waste of time” and pee on the toilet seats in protest like a normal passive aggressive audience. Sheesh.

He?s one of the biggest names in the movie industry, and earlier today (May 16) Brad Pitt was joined by partner Angelina Jolie as he premiered his new film ?Tree of Life? in Cannes, France.
Splitting time between his lovely lady and co-stars Sean Penn and Jessica Chastain, the ?Ocean?s Eleven? hunk looked Suave as he arrived at the Palais des Festivals as part of the 64th Cannes International Film Festival schedule.
During his interview at the photo call earlier in the day, Brad told press he hopes to impress his kids with his body of work.
"I think of everything I do now that my kids are going to see when they grow up and how are they going to feel. But they know me as a dad and I hope they'll just think of me as a pretty damn good actor."

As we previewed a few weeks ago, Penelope Cruz is the cover girl for the June issue of Vogue (American), all to promote her work in Pirates of Caribbean 4. Now that I?m seeing the higher-quality images from the shoot, I have to say? this is one of Penelope?s best photo shoots ever. And one of Mario Testino?s best shoots too. Testino can often photograph people to look too glitzy, too sparkly, not accessible enough, but on rare occasions - like with Princess Diana, and here with Penelope - he just makes them look ?realer? than they?ve ever looked.
In the interview with Penelope, she sounds at times funny, and at times kind of gushy and sweet. She talks a little bit about her son Leonardo and what it?s like to be a first-time mom. The full Vogue interview is here, the slideshow is here, and here are some highlights:
Before Penelope was famous and after she moved to LA: When Cruz first moved to Los Angeles, she spoke little English and lived in a tiny hotel room she shared only with cats. Cats, plural. ?I was very lonely,? she says. ?I would find cats in the street and take them with me. I raised a lot of cats in that period.? The cats all found nice homes, Cruz assures me in a way that recalls those end-of-film disclaimers (no animals were harmed during the making of Penlope Cruz).
Penlope Cruz adores karaoke. She adores it the way a first-grader adores a golden-retriever puppy?in an unself-conscious, non-ironic way. She will sing ?Hollaback Girl,? by Gwen Stefani, and, if she is so compelled, ?Without Me,? by Eminem. (Opening lyrics: ?Two trailer-park girls go round the outside/Round the outside/Round the outside.?) Karaoke is a non-negotiable part of the Penlope Cruz experience. ?I?ve gone to karaoke bars in almost every city I have been to,? she says. ?Every time I am on a movie location, we find a karaoke bar and take the crew.?
Cruz does not put on airs. She is an Oscar winner who can obsess over the films of the mid?twentieth century Italian actress Anna Magnani (The Rose Tattoo) but also appreciates Lady Gaga (?She?s invented something that feels very fresh?). She?s an Oscar winner who has befriended Bono but also enjoys the high camp of Glee (especially when Bardem filmed a guest spot on the TV musical). She?s an Oscar winner who confesses to a history of roller-skating and the fact that she doesn?t drive a car, even in L.A.
?I only drive in movies,? she says, laughing. ?I know that?s very weird to hear for an American. I have a weird relationship with it. I know how to drive, but I never went to take the test.?
Post-Oscar ritual: [After the night she won her Oscar], she headed over to In-N-Out Burger, still wrapped in her vintage white Balmain gown. ?You have to remove the tight dress to eat a Double Double monster cheeseburger with everything on it,? she says.The post-Oscar In-N-Out burger has become a ritual. It?s happened after each of her nominations?the hungry Spanish bombshell at the drive-through. But this February, after Cruz accompanied Bardem to the Kodak Theatre in support of his Best Actor nomination for Biutiful, there was no burger run. ?We had something more important to do,? Cruz says, smiling. ?We had to go home to the baby.?
Being pregnant on the set of POTC 4: ?I was pregnant and a pirate,? Cruz says. ?A beautiful experience.?
Penelope cries when asked how motherhood has changed her: ?One second,? she says. She dips her head and dabs at her face. I fear I am about to be removed from the hotel, forever banned for making Penlope Cruz cry. But now she is laughing and crying at the same time. ?This has never happened to me,? she says. ?This is really funny. I?m sorry. It?s unexpected.? To date, Cruz hasn?t talked at all about her son in public. But it?s clear his impact is profound. ?From the first second, you feel so much love,? she says. ?It is a revolutionary experience. That?s the best way I can describe it. It transforms you completely, in a second. Nature is very wise and gives you nine months to prepare, but in that moment?when you see that face, you are transformed forever.? She is not trying to wipe away the tears now. She rolls with it. It?s an unabashed, blissful cryfest. ?Even if you have heard from all your friends and family, ?This is what?s going to happen,? until it happens to you, it?s hard to understand in your soul,? Cruz says.
Shielding Leonardo from the press: A day later, Leonardo is present during a photo shoot, cooing gently with the nanny while Cruz poses a few feet away outside. Cruz is very careful about unlocking the door on her new family. Never one to disclose personal details?in the past, queries about boyfriends real and rumored were brushed away like houseflies?she is vigilant about her son. ?I want my son?and my kids if I have more?to grow up in a way that is as anonymous as possible,? Cruz says. ?The fact that his father and I have chosen to do the work that we do doesn?t give anybody the right to invade our privacy.?

Aw, I liked the cryfest. That was sweet. Probably a great deal of post-partum hormones too. I love the idea of Penelope doing karaoke too - her accent is so thick, I?m sure the other people are like ?What?s she singing again??

A People reporter asked Jennifer Aniston’s dad, Days of Our Lives actor John Aniston, if he would like her to end up with a nice Greek guy. (He was born in Greece and moved to the US when he was two. Plus he was at a Greek event so the question was timely.) Aniston’s dad said yes of course, but it would have to be a good guy and an honest one. You know that people are going to spin this into some condemnation against Aniston’s cheating ex, but I think it’s just a dad saying something nice about his hopes for his daughter. It’s not like he was like “yes, and where are my grandbabies already?”
John Aniston’s advice for his daughter Jennifer when it comes to romance? Go back to your roots.
Greek men are sexier and make better boyfriends, the elder Aniston, 77, who was born Yannis Anastassakis in Crete, joked to PEOPLE Saturday at the Hellenic Times Scholarship Fund’s 20th Anniversary Gala in New York.
Asked if he’d be happy if Jennifer, 42, ended up with a Greek man, he replied, “Yes, I would be glad about that.” But he’d have to be a “good Greek man,” Aniston added.
And what does that entail? “Honesty,” he replied.
Aniston, who has played Victor Kiriakis on NBC’s Days of Our Lives since 1985, was honored at Saturday’s gala along with Gilles Marini, star of the ABC drama Brothers & Sisters.

Ok I have a confession to make. (One I’ve made before, but hopefully most of you forgot.) I sometimes watch Days. I started a few months ago when I was flipping, saw a hot guy or two, and stuck around. Now I tape it and fast forward through most of it, but I like to keep up with what’s going on. I had no idea that guy was Aniston’s father! I remembered her dad was in soaps but didn’t realize that was him. His scenes are the ones I fast forward through. He’s got a really awesome deep voice though, I’ll say that for him. No comment about Aniston’s lovelife. I really don’t need to say much on threads like this.

First of all: has anyone else noticed Nicole?s latest style ?trend?? She?s been dressing very, very matronly lately, but it?s a unique kind of matronly. If you saw her clothes on a 60 year old, you would be like ?Yeah, that makes sense.? But on Nicole, it seems like her high-neck collars and fussy lace details and everything prim and proper? it all seems rather? I don?t know, like she?s trying to do the ?sexy librarian? thing. Only I?m pretty sure she?s not really trying to look like some fetish zed ?librarian? I think Nicole just thinks she looks awesome. The high-neck collar on her blouse is giving me some kind of 1980s flashback. That kind of blouse was the height of ladies? professional attire circa 1983.
What else did I want to talk about? I guess her BotoxFace, but I was so overcome by the collar I kind of forgot. My favorite photos are the ones where she?s giving that big black guy a ?WTF?? look (not really, but the angle suggests it), and the one where she?s laughing and it looks really, really painful. The director of Brad Pitt’s new movie The Tree of Life didn’t even show to the film’s premiere in Cannes today, so it’s no surprise to hear that it was booed like The Situation at a Donald Trump roast. The Daily Mail says:
Brad Pitt’s art house movie The Tree of Life was greeted to a harsh chorus of boos, hisses and reluctant applause when it was unveiled at the Cannes Film Festival.
The picture’s director Terrence Malick didn’t even bother to turn up at the press conference following a screening that started at 8:30 a.m.
I’d wager that Malick’s not showing had less to do with the quality of the film and more to do with the fact that Brad Pitt was dressed like the Good Humor Man’s retarded pimp cousin. Sex industry ice cream men are naturally repellant to the art-house industry. Everybody knows that.

As Britney Spears promotes her new album, I?ve noted time and time again that she?s not really doing any of her interviews. Her PR team works it so that she answers questions ?via email? and God knows who writes the junk. But I will give her publicist credit - he or she really makes an effort to put in ?Britney-isms? into the interview so it sounds sort of like her. Anyway, Britney is the cover girl for the June issue of Harper?s Bazaar, although it might be difficult to tell because they Photoshopped the crap out of her face. However, it actually looks like she sat down and did the interview face-to-face, although it?s unclear how the piece was actually conducted. Some of the questions and answers do sound email-ish. But she doesn?t sound out of it, either. She sounds cognizant, reflective and nice. Good for her. The slideshow is here, and the full interview is here. Here are some highlights:
LAURA BROWN: What has been your best fashion look?
Britney Spears: I went to the Grammys in 2002, and I had really curly, curly hair. I had a red dress on. It wasn’t short and saucy; it was a long red dress. That dress was fun.
LB: What was your biggest fashion mistake?
BS: Ten years ago at the Billboard awards, I wore this orange hat and orange bra and orange booty pants and purple fishnets. Oh, and I had an orange jacket on.
LB: Was it Halloween?
BS [laughs]: No, it wasn’t Halloween. I actually thought I looked hot at the time. But, um, I definitely stood out. I thought it was just a marvelous idea to wear this purple and orange outfit; it was like high school colors. I was a cheerleader for a school I didn’t know. People were talking about it, but not in a good way.
LB: Your hair is looking long and lustrous. Are you whipping it back and forth?
BS: Yeah, I love ponytails. I’m a wash-and-go girl. But, oh yeah, I like to whip it.
LB: Are you enjoying dancing again?
BS: I love to dance, so it’s very exciting. The tour rehearsals have been going really well. I think it will be my best show yet.
LB: What songs get you moving?
BS: I love “S&M” and “Only Girl” by Rihanna; that’s why I jumped on the “S&M” remix. She’s really cool. I like her a lot.
LB: Everybody has Bieber fever. Have you met Justin? Would you ever want to work with him?
BS: I think he’s adorable. I just saw his movie, and I really didn’t realize how big he was. He’s enormous; he’s just Mr. Man. A lot of the movie is really similar to what I did when I was starting out. I did a promo tour for a year, going into radio stations and all that. It was so cool to see our similarities.
LB: “It’s Britney, bitch” is classic, but you say you’re less bitchy than impatient. What makes you impatient?
BS: When things take a long time, I just get really stubborn. When I know that things are supposed to go a certain way [laughs] and when it’s my time of the month.
LB: What makes you laugh uncontrollably?
BS: Usually when people trip or fall or run into something. Not to be mean, but I can’t help it. If they really hurt themselves, then I feel bad, but if they accidentally do it and they stand up and act cool like nobody saw them, I have to laugh.
LB: It’s been eight years since you kissed Madonna onstage at the MTV awards. What have you learned from her?
BS: I actually saw her a couple of weeks ago at a party. I guess she’s really taught me to stay true to myself. That seems like a simple thing to say, but she taught me through action, not just by saying it. There are so many people around you that have opinions, but you just have to listen to your instincts.
LB: You’ve said Jennifer Lopez inspires you professionally. Would you ever want to be a judge on American Idol?
BS: I would! That would be awesome. I wouldn’t be a tough judge, though.
LB: What do you think of Lady Gaga?
BS: She’s unique and extremely talented. I love her spin on everything.
LB: Would you like to get married again? More kids?
BS: I’ve thought about both, so if the timing was right …
LB: Could you see your sons performing?
BS: If they have a love and passion for the arts and that’s what they want to do, then so be it. They are both little actors and so charismatic, I wouldn’t be surprised at all.
LB: Which one of your hits made you realize you’d made it?
BS: From the beginning, probably “… Baby One More Time.” I haven’t seen that video in such a long time.
LB: What’s your favorite video?
BS: “Overprotected.” I just think it says a lot. It was directed so well, it was really colorful, and the dancing was amazing.
LB: Who is your greatest inspiration musically?
BS: Whitney Houston. I’ve loved her since I was a kid.
LB: What is your guilty pleasure?
BS: Bapchi’s caramel toffee from Vosges. They were in my hotel room, and I made everyone bring them from their rooms.

Former “Friends” star Matthew Perry announced this weekend that he will be going away for a month to focus on his sobriety. And FYI, if you can’t focus your eyes, you probably aren’t sober. Might wanna write that one down, if you aren’t too drunk to hold a pencil. TMZ says:
Matthew Perry issued a statement saying, “I?m making plans to go away for a month to focus on my sobriety and to continue my life in recovery. Please enjoy making fun of me on the world wide web.?
We’re told Perry has not suffered any sort of relapse — but has planned the trip as a proactive measure… in his ongoing battle with substance abuse.
Matthew Perry going away would probably be newsworthy if anybody had any idea he’d ever come back. I just assumed Warner Brothers drove him out onto an abandoned lot and put a bullet in the back of his head after The Whole Ten Yards went to DVD, like the “tell me about the rabbits, George” scene in Of Mice and Men.

After a year-long engagement, country music stars Blake Shelton and Miranda Lambert were married in Texas this weekend. I guess he finally tasted all she’s cookin’ — and in this case, it was venison. According to People Magazine:
The couple exchanged vows Saturday night at the Don Strange Ranch north of San Antonio.
The menu was unique: venison, which the bride harvested herself.
Shelton, 34, proposed last May in the woods near Lambert’s Tishomingo, Okla., home.
I’m sorry — the bride served “venison she’d harvested herself?” Come on. That’s a bit over the top, even for country music stereotypes. They should have gone for something a little more believable, like a wedding dress made of possum skins and rebel flags and a guy in overalls playing the washboard and jug from the bed of a Ford F-150 truck.

Stepping out to enjoy the beautiful springtime weather, Emma Watson was spotted in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania on Saturday (May 14).
The ?Harry Potter? hottie looked cute and casual as she caught some rays and signed a few autographs for her lucky fans.
As far as fashion goes, Emma recently lamented the fact that she has a hard time finding attire that suits her age.
?I try to dress age-appropriately, which isn't actually that easy when obviously high-end clothing is designed for women who are older than I am. It's a fine line to tread between looking smart and looking ready to go on a red carpet but also looking like I'm 21. It's quite difficult. I think less is more - less make-up, less accessories is better.?

The former Pussycat Doll was in fine form at the Carlisle, England shindig, sporting a variety of super sexy stage getups.
In career news, Nicole has finally set a release date for the American version of her forthcoming album KIller Love- August 16th.
Of the project, she told press, "At the time I was doing my U.K. album, I was really into more dance-inspired music, which is amazing and so much fun for Europe. For the U.S., I wanted to go back to my roots where I started, a little bit more urban sounding 'cause that's still a very big part of me as well, and I wanted to make sure I wove that into the album."

As you know already, Uma Thurman is on the Cannes Film Festival jury this year. Uma has been using the festival to outshine almost every celebrity lady - Uma?s fashion has been nearly impeccable. My favorite thus far has been the white Versace, which looked AMAZING on Uma. This Chanel gown, however, might be my least favorite from the festival. I know why it?s a good dress technically, but it looks meh-to-unflattering on Uma. In the profile photos, you can tell that Uma is carrying some weight in her midsection - the Chanel emphasizes it! Tragic. Beyond the fashion, though, Uma?s hair, makeup and jewelry have been consistently fantastic. She really prepared some big-impact looks for the festival. Good for her.
By the way, I?m starting to wonder if Uma has a little something going with her jury member Jude Law. They?ve been posing together on the red carpet - not unusual, per se, but it?s interesting. Even more fascinating is that they seem to be doing some after-hours partying together too. They were both at a Chopard event last night, and while Uma posed with lots of people, this one photo caught my eye:
They both look slightly toasty, a little extra friendly. Is it okay if I want this happen? Uma and Jude would be stunning together. She?s so tall and Nordic-goddess, he?s so dapper and British and kind of skeezy. He usually only dates petite women, but maybe he?ll give a long-legged lass a good go-around. And Uma has a type too - let?s just say that the woman who married Ethan Hawke would find herself at home with Jude?s skeeze. PLEASE GOD LET THIS HAPPEN. (PS… remember Gattaca?)
By the way, I liked her black gown at the Chopard event so much more than the Chanel.

Michelle Rodriguez spent the weekend in Cannes because that’s where all the celebrities are right now. Since she didn’t have anything to promote (I don’t know, maybe she did?), she went swimming and diving at Eden Roc hotel.
Not so much news in itself but her bikini bottom half fell off, and she was clutching her breasts in a lot of the photos and her friend was kind of hot. In summation, if you put your hand over the top half of these pictures, this Monday will have started out great.

In news I missed last week, TMZ obtained documents in Nicollette Sheridan’s wrongful termination suit against Desperate Housewives creator Marc Cherry. Besides milking money out of Marc, she’s trying to turn the entire cast against him one by one starting with Eva Longoria.
In the declaration filed with the court, Nicollete claims, “I was present at Eva Longoria’s wedding to Tony Parker, when Mr. Cherry commented that ‘Tony must like boys, because he is marrying this — this little, small girl with no t*ts — that looks like a boy.”
Did he end that with an emphatic snapping of his fingers and a flamboyant hip thrust all without spilling a drop of his Cosmopolitan? That would be awesome if he did. I’d like to sit next to him at a wedding just so the monotony of nuptials would be broken with his running commentary. And also because I really want to get a “Mmm, hmm, girlfriend,” in there.

These are some new photos of Brad Pitt and Angelina Jolie out to dinner in Cannes last night. Brad seems to be wearing a charcoal-colored suit, white shirt and no tie, with his hair slicked back into some kind of fancy mullet (praise it). Angelina seems to be wearing a fitted white v-neck dress that I would like to see more of - it looks flattering, and very much UNLIKE the sack dresses she prefers for the red carpet. I could be wrong, but I thought I also spied a classic Louis Vuitton monogram purse in her hand too. Angelina was recently shooting the LV ads with Annie Leibovitz in Cambodia, and I can?t wait for those to come out.
Later today is the big evening red carpet for Tree of Life, Brad?s film with Terrence Malick. Brad and Angelina are both expected for the red carpet, and I?ll have the pics from the Tree of Life photo call up in just a moment (just Brad, no Angie). First, I wanted to talk about the news that came out yesterday - Angelina?s Bosnian love story movie has found a distrubuter, got a release date, and most importantly, Angelina finally gave it a title. She?s calling it? In the Land of Blood and Honey. Meh.
FilmDistrict has been tapped to release Angelina Jolie?s feature directorial debut In the Land of Blood and Honey, which is now slated to open Dec. 23 in the U.S.
The pact was announced Sunday in Cannes by Graham King and his producing partner Tim Headington, together with Peter Schlessel, CEO of FilmDistrict, the new production and distribution company that GK Films launched last year.
GK Films also produced the film, which Jolie wrote as well as directed.
Land is set against the backdrop of the Bonsian Civil War in the 1990s, and Jolie said, ?The film is specific to the Bosnian War, but it?s also universal. I wanted to tell a story of how human relationships and behavior are deeply affected by living inside a war.?
It stars Zana Marjanovic (Snow), Goran Kostic and Rade Serbedzija (In the Rain). Jolie worked with a completely local cast, filming the project in both Serbo-Croation, the language spoken at the time of the war, and English. FilmDistrict will be releasing the English-language version.
?The former Yugoslavia has a rich history of dramatic arts. The cast was extraordinary. I was privileged and honored to work with them and I am very excited for everyone to see their immense talent,? Jolie added.
The project reteams Jolie with King, who produced last year?s thriller The Tourist, in which she starred with Johnny Depp.
?Working with Angelina on this film and story has been a great collaboration and I am extremely proud of this film,? said King. ?The filmmaking is impeccable, and signals the arrival of a visceral and compelling storyteller.?
GK Films has several other titles that will also be released stateside in the fall: The Rum Diary, starring Depp, will be released by FilmDistrict on Oct. 28, and Martin Scorsese?s foray into 3D, Hugo Cabret, will be distributed by Paramount on Nov. 23.
Jolie, who has been in Cannes this week to promote DreamWorks Animation?s Kung Fu Panda 2, in which she voices the character of the Tigress, directed the 2007 documentary A Place in Time before making her current move into helming a narrative feature.

We talked a little bit about this film on Friday, and I came clean about my qualms regarding how bad I think this film was going to be. Some super-cool Brangeloonies then QUESTIONED MY LOYALTY to the Brangelina Brand, and even doubted my membership to the club. Look? I love some Angelina. But the skinny bitch doesn?t walk on water, and I honestly think the film is probably going to suck. It truly doesn?t sound good. That being said, I will defend her right to make any movie she wants, and I will defend her because I think her heart was in the right place. I don?t think In the Land of Blood and Honey is going to be offensive, not do I think it?s some sort of terrible story about a rape victim falling in love with her rapist. I just think it?s probably going to be a boring, somewhat preachy movie, and the worst thing I?ve heard about it thus far is that Angelina shot the entire thing in English and Bosnian (Serbo-Croatian) because she didn?t know which she wanted. Seriously, that does not bode well. She should have figured that out before she even began filming.

I thought Pippa Middleton was on the cover of People last week, but my aunt lent me her newsstand copy of the latest People and it had Shania Twain on it in with the title Finding Love After Betrayal. As we’ve heard before from Shania, she really blames the other woman for her husband cheating, when she should have just as much ire, if not more so, for the ass whose bullsh*t she dealt with for 15 years. The thing is, the other woman was Shania’s best friend, her only friend in Switzerland, where she felt lonely and isolated in her multi million dollar estate.
People’s interview with Shania confirms In Touch’s story that Shania has barred the other woman from seeing her son, despite the fact that she sees the other woman’s daughter all the time. (Since she married her ex husband’s mistress’ estranged husband.) People also has the detail that Shania’s new husband was the guy who broke it to her that their spouses were cheating on them. This is some Shakespearean shizz. I love what Shania writes about the mistress. It’s like she’s spitting it out with a sneer and giving her the evil eye at the same time.
She took a break [from her career] in 2004 and settled with Lange and their son Eja, now 9, in Switzerland - she she barely knew a soul - and “the isolation started to spiral,” she says. “I wasn’t expressing myself anymore.”
At the same time, she and Lange were growing apart. “It’s very hard to be honest with yourself when something’s just not working,” says Twain, who devoured self help books. “Mutt had already made up his mind on what was going to be done, but I was in the dark.”
In March 2008 Lange told her he wanted a divorce. The next day Theibaud broke the crushing news that he believed his wife, Marie-Anne - her best friend, to whom she had confided her marital problems - was having an affair with Lange… The double betrayal sent her into a tailspin…
[Twain writes] “Fred explained that his wife had spent some time with my husband in luxury spas in the area over the last months. Of course, I demanded proof, and outside of what he’d witnessed personally, he had the classic evidence in the form of phone bills, hotel information and receipts, and the memory of a garter belt and lingerie he saw packed in her luggage. She was meant to be going away for time ‘alone.’”
Twain reserves most of her ire for Marie-Anne; even now, she utters that name only once in the course of an interview. “I hated her,” she writes in the book. “I was disgusted that another woman’s lust for a lifestyle upgrade was worth the devastation of my family…”
In truth, the one time she did encounter the other woman, not long after the split, “I had a total panic attack,” she says. “I just told her that she was a bad person - that’s all I could get out! When I left her, I thought, ‘You’re such a wimp, you coward!’ That was my big moment, and I blew it!”
Today Twain has no interaction with Marie-Anne and won’t allow her to have any contact with Eja either. “I just have no desire,” she says. “In fact my desire is to avoid her!”

Ok, I get it now. I get that it was her best friend, that the woman lied to her when she confided in her that she was worried about her husband acting strange, and that the friend was committing the ultimate act of betrayal behind her back. So, though, was her husband if not more so. If this stupid wench wasn’t around he would have found another one to cheat on Shania with, he was just looking for an excuse. Same goes for this Marie-Anne person and her relationship.

Here are some photos from the Tree of Life photo call in Cannes, just hours ago, as promised. Brad did the photo call with his costar and on-screen wife, Jessica Chastain, who is currently one of the It Girls being cast in EVERYTHING. She?s 30 years old, but she seems older to me. And I dislike this shade of red on a girl with that shade of red hair. As for Brad? he took note of Jon Hamm?s all-white ensemble and raised the Hamm Dong one salt-and-pepper mullet. Brad?s Cannes ensembles are always? well, they?re always interesting. There was that one year he did a photo call in a Tom Ford ascot. That was memorable. Brad loves his fashion, and I suspect he?s a clotheshorse. So why this baggy suit and mullet? It makes him look like a low-level mob enforcer on holiday.
As for the critical response to Brad?s latest offering (which he filmed in 2008, and director Terrence Malick fiddled with for THREE YEARS), Tree of Life seems to have drawn mixed reactions. There are multiple reports of booing during one screening, although Entertainment Weekly makes it sound like it was just a couple of people:
It can be daunting to describe Terrence Malick?s The Tree of Life, but scattered audience members at its first screening in Cannes needed only one syllable: boo. The many supporters of the movie pushed back with counter-applause, but it was a shocking way for the movie to debut.
The Tree of Life is an elegiac litany of images and memory-like scenes more than a traditional narrative,. In brief, it?s the origin of time and infinity through the lens of one troubled, 1950s-era Texas family. It stars Brad Pitt and Jessica Chastain, though they share copious screen time with evolving galaxies, nebulae, and surreal, symbolic representations of the world beyond. Call it a coming of age story about the universe.
Here?s how the chaos ? on-screen and off ? unfolded today ?
The scene outside the 8:30 a.m. screening at the festival?s Grand Theatre Lumiere was a mosh pit of fearsome determination. Malick is somewhat the J.D. Salinger of filmmakers, rarely photographed, and never submitting to interviews. Though he is hardly prolific, his handful of films have been striking for their visual splendor and meditative tones: Badlands, Days of Heaven, The Thin Red Line, The New World ?
Though the movie opens for everyone May 27, audience members crushed at the entrance Monday morning, shoving and hollering to gain entrance to a film that has been eagerly anticipated at Cannes for two years. With passions so high to see it, the movie?s debut mirrored the film?s central conflict: a boy trying to live up to the high standards of his harsh father. Only in this case it was Cannes notoriously harsh community of critics and journalists.
As long-form reviews were being written there was push-back against the booing on Twitter. ?Yes, some booed at Tree of Life?s end, but a) far more clapped, b) wouldn?t a monobloc of opinion be dull? And, of course, c) jerks abound,? wrote MSN Movies? James Rocchi.
?The booing at the end of today?s Tree of Life screening was an ugly, animalistic thing that may explain why Malick doesn?t do press,? added IndieWire?s Eric Kohn.
And yes, the notoriously elusive Malick continued his long tradition of not speaking on behalf of his movies, and did not attend the press conference after the screening. His producer, Sarah Green, said he prefers to stay out of the spotlight because, ?Mr. Malick is very shy and I would say I believe his work speaks for him.?
Pitt had no problem speaking instead. ?He tells this micro story of this family in a small town in Texas and juxtaposes it with the macro of the birth of the cosmos and cells splitting,? he said. ?I find that so extraordinary. There are parallel truths in that.?
Pitt said repeatedly he could go on at length about the process Malick employed to make such an unusual film. There are few dialogue-driven scenes, and the child actors at the center of the tale were not permitted to see the script, Pitt said, instead being told roughly what to do or say. Pitt said Malick wanted everyone to follow their instincts.
?He?s like a guy with a butterfly net waiting for the truth to go by,? Pitt said.
?It was all about capturing the accident,? Chastain added, citing a for-instance: ?There?s a section where a butterfly lands on my hand. It?s not in the script, and we didn?t put anything on my hand to make it land there.?
?It?s a leap of faith, but that?s the point,? Pitt said.
Malick rented the entire neighborhood where they shot, dressed it to resemble the 1950s period, and would have the family linger together on the street, playing on swings, or working in the yard, while the capture awaited special moments.
?Then he does what he calls torpedoing a scene,? Pitt said. ?The youngest child he called The Torpedo. On the first day, [Chastain and I] were having an argument, raising our voices, and we shot that take. Then suddenly he would send in Ty, as the Torpedo, and it changed the whole dynamic of the scene.?
There was some joking about the absent director, whom Chastain said tended to steer the camera toward nearby woodpecker or something else in nature if it interrupted the scene. Instead of ruining the take, that tended to be the thing Malick would rather use.
Pitt said he had no problem with the director choosing not to speak about the movie publicly. ?You know how you have a favorite song and then you hear the band describing your favorite lyrics, and then you?re disappointed?? he asked the room of journalists, who responded with silence.

Well, it sounds like some people really liked it and a few didn?t. Meh. I have to admit something - I know all of the film snobs are like ?Malick is a genius, he?s misunderstood, YOU JUST DON?T GET HIM? but the description of the production sounds so? weak. Self-indulgent on the director?s part. Masturbatory. You know what I appreciate? A well-written script. A director with the balls to make judgment calls in the heat of production. Someone who isn?t so precious and self-indulgent that they can edit their film in less than a year.

The ?Fight Club? stud looked dapper in a beige suit with a white v-neck shirt and snazzy sunglasses as he waved to fans and press as part of the 64th Cannes International Film Festival goings on.
Last night (May 15) Brad took his leading lady Angelina Jolie out for a romantic evening on the town.
The famous couple stopped by Tetou restaurant in Golfe Juan, France only to be mobbed by fans as they hopped into their chauffeured ride.

These are some photos of British celebrity Cheryl Cole at the Cannes Film Festival a few days ago. The odd, plunging dress is by Stephane Rolland. I would like to see the dress without the brass testicles (?) on the waist, and I would like to see Cheryl styled with a more natural, less caked-on makeup look, and maybe something different with her hair. Something other than a friggin? ponytail.
In the past, I?ve covered some random Cheryl Cole stories (like her split from her husband Ashley, and one of her magazine interviews), but I still don?t really feel like I know her. I get that she?s sort of the aspirational ?chav? girl for British women, and I do think Cheryl is a pretty girl (once you get past the prostitute-ish makeup). But is she going to ?happen? in America?
As you probably heard, Cheryl got the gig on Simon Cowell?s American version of X-Factor. Cheryl was/is a judge on the British version too, and I think she and Simon are supposed to be very, very close. Simon is actually putting his two favorite ladies together on the project: Cheryl and Paula Abdul. Oh, and L.A. Reid is in the mix too. So? I think comparatively speaking, yes, Cheryl is going to come across as sane, nice and lovely compared to Paula?s raging lunacy and Reid and Simon?s curt, bitchy demeanors.
But will America embrace her? Eh. I hate to say it, but I kind of think they might. Being ?the nice girl? on a show filled with bitches who are either A)insane or B)hyper-critical.
Oh, regarding her rack? it?s real, right? I suspect they?re real, but something about them seems kind of fakey. Like, the way they?re attached to her chest?? I can?t explain it. The spacing? Eh. And before you start yelling at me, just stop. She wore this dress on purpose. Because if we?re talking about her rack, we?re talking about HER. And she needs to be introduced to the American public. She thinks the best way to force the introduction is via her boobs. So go ahead and talk about them. That?s what she wants.

After roaming the grounds of the Eden Roc Hotel, the "Sucker Punch" starlet got all prettied up as she an gal pal Laura New attended the Art Of Elysium 3rd Annual Paradis Event at Hotel Du Cap.
Meanwhile, rumors recently emerged via Perez Hilton claiming that Miss Hudgens is planning a move from LA to NYC, as she was supposedly "overheard telling friends that she?s relocating to New York City full-time? during her time in Cannes.
Denying any such plans, a rep for the 22-year-old has since told GossipCop that the relocation plans are "not true".

She's gearing up for what could be quite the big night at the Billboard Music Awards seven days from now, but Rihanna was able to fit in a little retail therapy as she ended the weekend with a West Hollywood shopping session on Sunday (May 15).
The "Rude Boy" singer looked as hot as ever in a midriff baring grey top with a long striped skirt and towering heels as she popped into Kiki De Montparnasse to browse through the shops specialty lingerie offerings.
The sighting comes as RiRi has fired back at fans who quickly criticized her upon realizing that she and ex-boyfriend Chris Brown are following one another on Twitter.
One upset fan wrote of Rihanna's decision to follow Brown, " I never thought you would go back to him! You better not, it's your life but you do have (people) that look up to you. e.g. young girls."
To this, the 23-year-old singer quickly shot back, "its fu**in twitter, not the altar! calm down."
As for this coming weekend, Rihanna leads all nominees at the Billboard Music Awards with 18 bids - with Eminem placing second with 16 and Lady Gaga coming in third with 12.
Winners of the awards will be announced during a ceremony set to take place at the MGM Grand Hotel in Las Vegas on May 22.

Closing out the weekend with a romantic night on the town, Brad Pitt and Angelina Jolie stopped by Tetou restaurant in Golfe Juan, France on Sunday (May 15).
The Hollywood power couple both looked dapper as they were helped past a crowd of gathered paparazzi and oglers to be loaded into an awaiting chauffeured vehicle.
Brad and Angelina's dinner outing comes as Miss Jolie is fresh off of promoting her movie "Kung Fu Panda 2" at Cannes while Pitt will be boosting interest in his picture titled "The Tree of Life" at the annual French Riviera located festival this coming week.
