In the case of Disney?s Maleficent (out May 30), the whole world pretty much agreed Angelina Jolie should play the black-horned bad-girl.

In this week?s issue of Entertainment Weekly, the actress gives her first in-depth interview about Disney?s revisionist take on Sleeping Beauty, which retells the classic folk tale from the wicked point-of-view.

In the wide-ranging conversation with EW?s Anthony Breznican, Jolie also discusses Unbroken, the true-life tale of World War II heroism that she directed and is currently editing, and addresses the cancer worries that led her to undergo a preventative double mastectomy last year ? penning a New York Times op-ed afterward about the experience, hoping to inspire and encourage others facing such a choice.
?Wherever I go, usually I run into women and we talk about health issues, women?s issues, breast cancer, ovarian cancer. I?ve talked to men about their daughters? and wives? health. It makes me feel closer to other people who deal with the same things and have either lost their parents or are considering surgeries or wondering about their children,? she says. ?I was very, very moved by all the support and kindness from so many people.?

In years to come, we will refer to this as The Brandi Glanville Defense. When a celebrity is called out for doing or saying or tweeting something blatantly racist, that celebrity declares that they are not racist because ? wait for it ? they?ve banged black guys. It?s the new ?I have black friends? defense. It?s the defense for the 21st century racist.
So, obviously, we?re still talking about Chelsea Handler?s racist tweets during the Oscars. She loves this, incidentally. She loves that we?re talking about her. She interprets our scorn as interest, like she?s mega-controversial for being so bold and unconventional. She?s pretty much a garden-variety racist, only she has a public platform and no one seems willing to call her out on her BS. Case in point: Chelsea tweeted all of that racist crap when she took over the HuffPo feed. HuffPo still has the tweets up. They are unashamed to associate with her.
Here?s another example. Chelsea appeared on Good Morning America yesterday and George Stephanopoulos asked her about the racist tweets. And when I say he asked her about the tweets, I mean he asked her about how people reacted to the tweets, because hack journalism.
Chelsea says:
?People are mad at me all the time. If was worried about that then I would be spending a lot of time online. I?d rather be a little more productive. I?m not racist. I date a lot of black people, so that would be a difficult thing to explain to them.?
I don?t get the ?If was worried about that then I would be spending a lot of time online. I?d rather be a little more productive? thing. Is she saying that it?s only bloggers who think she?s racist and she?s so busy and important and famous, she doesn?t have time to worry about us? Er? this current controversy started because she was online? live-tweeting the Oscars. To promote her book, which she is promoting online. Lord, she?s dumb.
As for the whole ?I can?t be a racist because I bang black guys? defense ? it?s not a defense, just like the ?I have black friends? thing isn?t a defense. Just because you know, befriend and sleep with black people, those associations don?t inoculate a person from racism. I mean, Phil Robertson knows some black people too. And he thinks they were just fine when they couldn?t vote and there were lynchings every so often.
PS? Yes, I noticed how she looks like a Botox-monster in that video too.

Katie Holmes covers the April issue of Elle UK. I don’t know what she’s promoting, so I’ll just pretend she’s here to talk about her hot hookups with Jamie Foxx. No? Katie has four movies in post-production (including The Giver with Meryl Streep and Alex Skarsgard), but none of them are coming for a few months. That’s not to say that Katie doesn’t have things to discuss. She’s been chatting about how much she loves her new life. She’s was very visible at NYFW and may be angling for something in the fashion world.
Speaking of fashion, this story got buried (perhaps intentionally) during the madness of Oscar weekend. Katie Holmes and Jeanne Yang have officially ended their Holmes & Yang line. Page Six says the two women called it quits “due to interpersonal conflict” and because Jeanne wouldn’t tone her love of the spotlight. That’s really weird, right? I think people will more readily believe that the line ended because it was a budget-looking mess. Let’s do some Elle UK excerpts:
Divorce teaches lessons: “I think all of our experiences bring us to a greater understanding of ourselves and help us realise what is most important. That being said, I have three older sisters and one older brother and I went to an all-girls school, and have always been a fan of women. I support women and all experiences give you more insight into others, as well as yourself.”
Is she a feminist? “Ummm. I identify with women. I identify with people who work really hard. I think … I love strong women and I love strong men and I love being inspired by people who fight for what they believe in and work hard and are creative. And have integrity. I don’t think (the word feminism) is problematic.”
On make-up: “I was pretty lucky … I?m the youngest of five with three older sisters, so when I was a little girl, I spent a lot of the time in the bathroom just watching them. I was intrigued by make-up and my mum was very frank with us and said, ‘There are natural beauties in the world, but make-up enhances.’”
How she raises Suri: “Children are exposed to so much more than we were, I suppose every generation goes through that feeling, ‘Oh my God, it’s so different from how I grew up. I think the basics are very important: the number one thing is making sure my child feels loved. And good about herself. And that what she does and who she is, is special and important, and should be celebrated.’ And my mum always said, ‘No one loves you like your mother.?”
On Dawson’s Creek nostalgia: “The world has changed so much since then. Social media, and what people are watching. But I think innocence was one of the draws of the show. It was these kids going through first love and heartbreak and growing up and friendships changing. So I’m glad that the innocence still holds up.”

The feminism stuff is interesting. I feel like Katie is trying not to say too much in response to those questions — maybe because she knows whatever she says will be dissected endlessly by the media. Katie plays it safe by talking more about Suri, and what she says on that topic is very true. Katie has risen from the Scientology ashes looking like an excellent mother who will do anything to save her child from a cult. And Tom? Who knows where Tom is right now.
Katie’s discussion of make-up makes me giggle a bit. She rarely wears makeup unless she has to do so. I’m the same way, so that’s not a dig. It’s just weird that Bobbi Brown hired Katie as “their face” when that face usually walks around NYC looking like she just left the gym.
The rest of the Elle UK shoot is pretty but uneventful. I’m including some photos of Katie looking surprisingly fashionable in a leather mini trench coat. She had lunch in NYC with a mystery man. Hmm.

Here are some photos of Ashton Kutcher and Mila Kunis at last night?s Lakers game at the Staples Center. The Lakers were playing the New Orleans Pelicans (the Pelicans won). I think this is what we?re supposed to believe, and maybe it?s true: Ashton loves Mila because she?s the kind of girl who will always be up for a Lakers game. As opposed to Demi Moore, who rarely wanted to go to a game or do anything that involved Ashton?s interests. Mila is ?the fun girlfriend,? the girlfriend who likes sports and that?s why Ashton proposed. Sure. I guess I?ll buy that.
It was just announced yesterday that Mila is going to guest star on Two and a Half Men. According to THR, Mila will be playing ?Vivian, a young, beautiful and free-spirited world traveler who shows up on Walden’s doorstep. Walden feels an instant connection with her, convinced she’s ?the one.? The problem is, Walden was about to propose to someone else.? If you watch the show, I?m sure that will mean something to you but it?s all Greek to me. I actually watch the last two minutes of that stupid show every week because it?s on just before Elementary (which is an awesome show and it doesn?t deserve such a stupid lead-in). I feel like Mila is slumming it a little bit by appeared on Ashton?s show, but whatever. They want to work together again, and maybe it?s sweet.
Meanwhile, Ashton has a new interview in Men?s Fitness. He talks about how he?s ready to settle down (again) and he says:
?Being a single guy can be a lot of fun .?.?. when you?re financially independent [and] can do whatever you want, whenever you want? [but] For every girl you have a good time with for one night, if you want to stay single, that?s the same girl that you have to not call back. After a while, being the one-night-stand guy is also just a little gross.?

Yeah, he mastered the one night stand when he was married to Demi. Maybe he?s saying that he got it out of his system? Maybe he?s saying that the mistakes he made during his first marriage aren?t going to affect his marriage to Mila? I don?t know. I want to believe, but I just can?t. While dressed as the evil sorceress from the well-known "Sleeping Beauty" tale, the 38-year-old actress opened up about becoming the iconic villain and shared details about her double mastectomy.
"It is really funny when people say you'd be obvious for a good villain," Angelina explained. "The exercise wasn't how can we have fun with a villain? It was: What turns people evil and vile and aggressive and cruel? What could have possibly happened to her?"
In regards to her cancer worries that led to her preventative surgery last year, Miss Jolie stated, "Wherever I go, usually I run into women and we talk about health issues, women's issues, breast cancer, ovarian cancer. I've talked to men about their daughters' and wives' health."

Life & Style reports that Brad Pitt wore a very special gift from his Oscar-winning fiance Angelina Jolie when he won his first Oscar: she had given him some cufflinks for Christmas one year, and he wore them on Oscar night. Aw.
Brad Pitt put his love on display — literally — for fiance Angelina Jolie at the Oscars Sunday night. The 50-year-old actor, whose film 12 Years a Slave took home three awards, including Best Picture, decided to wear tuxedo buttons and cufflinks from his beloved’s Style of Jolie line ? with famed jeweler Robert Procop ? to the big show.
It turns out Angie specifically made them for Brad — and even gifted them to him during the holidays.
?Brad?s specially designed cufflinks were a gift from Angelina one year for Christmas,? Procop says in a statement.
The sentimental gift consisted of tablet-cut diamonds set into yellow gold. The father-of-six also rocked a diamond dress set (buttons, cufflinks and a ring) from Procop to the 2012.
But Angie wears a design from Brad every single day. In 2013, he popped the question with a gorgeous 16-carat diamond ring, in which he designed with Procop.
To summarize: it’s very good to be Brangelina.

As much as I teased Angelina about her Style of Jolie jewelry, some of those pieces were very pretty and I liked that she used so many semi-precious stones. She seems to love topazes. I tend to think cufflinks are kind of a silly gift for most men, because most men rarely have occasion to dress up to the point of wearing French cuffs. But most men aren?t Brad Pitt! Brad Pitt wears a tuxedo often enough to need cufflinks. And it was lovely that Brad wore Angelina?s gift as a good luck charm.
I actually wondered why Brad didn?t bring his parents again, like he did when he was nominated in the past. Maybe he didn?t want to jinx it. Or maybe his parents were like, ?Yeah, it?s okay, we?ve already been. You kids go ahead!?

I still haven’t read Cameron Diaz’s The Body Book, but it feels like I know the whole edition inside and out. Cameron knows how to promote her goods, and she has done so with enthusiasm. The last time we caught up with Cam, she was discussing how society is guilty of chauvinism and misogyny toward single women. Most of you agreed with her and were heartily amused with Cameron’s discussion of her downtown grooming habits as well.
Now things have gotten a little bit gross. Cameron stopped by to visit E!’s Chelsea Lately to promote the book. Instead of allowing Cameron to conduct a frank conversation, Chelsea invited Cam to perform an examination. Ugh. Let’s get to some excerpts about ciggies, diet coke, and more about grooming habits:
Why did Cam write her book? “I’m a science nerd. I like to know why things work the way they do. I thought that the body was probably the most important thing to understand how it works since we all have one, and we don’t really know that much about it.”
She compliments Chelsea’s bod: I know that you care about it and that you take care of it, and that makes me happy.”
Cam smoked until age 30: “One cigarette every once in awhile is not going to kill you.”
Diet Coke is bad, m’kay: “Nothing’s for free. My mama taught me that real early.”
The misunderstood woman flower: “We think the vagina is on the outside. I say grab a mirror and play along. Get in there. Learn about it. You’re supposed to treat it like the beautiful flower that is, the delicate flower that it is. And you’re supposed to nurture it in all the ways that it needs nurturing. Watering it. Fertilizing it. It needs nourishment. It’s hungry.”
More on pubes: “Because it’s a science book, and since we used to be covered in hair, and now we’re not except for a few places, I figure there’s a purpose for that hair. So I put some of the purposes for it and I also suggest that no mater how you enjoy grooming it throughout your life–whether it’s shave it all off, wax it all off, putt a bulls eye, birthday cake, I don’t care–just, girls, think about not taking it all off forever. Permanency means forever. It doesn’t come back. You might change your mind in a few years.”

Cameron already advised women against permanent hair removal “down there.” I agree with her. It’s a pain in the [redacted] to groom that stuff, but seriously, she’s got a point. Do you want to be 80 years old and have nothing to camouflage the effects of gravity? I don’t think so. Leave some options for the future. Referring to one’s vag as a flower is a bit silly and hippie-ish, but I think Cameron is joking. Maybe?

OMG? here?s a thought? imagine The Bos and Alec Baldwin talking about the paparazzi. He?ll be anger-bearing away, frothing at the mouth he?s so angry and The Bos would have to pretend like she doesn?t call the paps on a semi-regular basis.
This is the plot of Still Alice: ?A psychologist discovers she’s suffering from an early onset of Alzheimer’s disease.? The psychologist is Julianne Moore. Alec plays her husband and Kristen Stewart plays her daughter. I have no idea who The Bos plays. Someone mysterious and gingery. Now imagine this: K-Stew and The Bos having a conversation. Damn, you fell asleep again. Wake up!
As for this ginger shade? I don?t think it?s very flattering for The Bos. Of all the things to change about her appearance, Kate?s blonde hair was like the least offensive. This isn?t the first time Kate has radically changed hair color either ? years ago, she attempted a brunette for a while, and that actually worked rather well on her. But I have to say? she looks best as a blonde. I hope this ginger only stays for the length of the film.
PS… I’m surprised The Bos didn’t come to the VF Oscar party, she comes most years. I guess she didn’t want to fly to LA considering she actually got a real job.

If you?ve seen Lost In Translation, you?ll not only understand this story, you?ll enjoy it too. For those of you who haven?t seen the film, these are the basics you need to know: Scarlett Johansson?s character (based on Sofia Coppola) has traveled to Japan with her husband, played by Giovanni Ribisi (based on Sofia?s then-husband Spike Jonze). In the movie, the husband runs into an actress he worked with, played by Anna Faris. Faris’ character is ditzy, a little crazy and all over the husband character. Faris did such an uncanny impression of Cameron Diaz, it?s not even funny. Jonze and Diaz had worked together on Being John Malkovich, and many people simply thought, ?Wow, Sofia hates Camy Diaz.? It was almost like Sofia Coppola ? who wrote and directed Lost In Translation ? told Anna Faris, ?Do an impression of Cameron?. I should say that the blonde actress character comes across as an a?hole. Faris doesn?t play her as vindictive or villainous, but the character seems self-absorbed, too cutesy and annoying.
After that, there were stories over the years that Cameron and Sofia didn?t get along. There was said to be something like a Cold War between them, no ?shots fired? per se, but there was resentment on Cameron?s part. Well now Radar claims that Sofia and Cameron are close to burying the hatchet:
Lost in Translation was released more than ten years ago, but the film is still having an effect on Hollywood ? specifically, on Cameron Diaz. At the time, Anna Faris? ditzy blonde character in director Sofia Coppola?s film was widely interpreted as being based on Diaz, as a kind of retaliation for her alleged flirtation with Coppola?s husband, Spike Jonze. It?s only now, RadarOnline.com has learned, that Diaz has forgiven her former friend Coppola for the supposed slight!
?Sofia and Cameron have had an incredibly difficult relationship since 1999, the year Sofia married Spike,? a source close to Diaz says. ?It only got worse when the film came out and it became pretty well-known that part of the movie was based on their real-life feud.?
In the movie, Faris plays a dumb blonde actress who flirts with the husband of the intellectual lead character, portrayed by Scarlett Johansson and based on Coppola herself.
Coppola has insisted that Diaz wasn?t her muse, telling the Daily Beast ?The actress was based on a bunch of people, just that type. I could probably name eight people that she was based on, just that bubbly, extroverted blonde that you see on talk shows?It wasn?t a slight at anyone in particular.?
But it still made things tense between her and Diaz, says the source ? until now.
?There has been a thaw in the relationship between Sofia and Cameron in recent months,? the insider says. ?They had drinks this summer and cleared the air, possibly even paving the way for a future collaboration.?
Oddly enough, the source says that it was the pair?s mutual friend, Kirsten Dunst, who got them talking again. Says the source, Dunst, who starred in Coppola?s Virgin Suicides and Marie Antoinette, ?felt that after all these years, it was time they buried the hatchet.?
Probably helping the situation, Coppola has since split with Jonze and is happily married to rock star Thomas Mars of Phoenix.
But despite her truce with Coppola, for Diaz, the scene still seems to sting, according to the source.
?Cameron still refuses to talk to Anna,? the insider says. ?And she has never publicly addressed the movie scenes in question. It?s an off-limits topic.?

Is it true that Cameron has never spoken about it? Probably ? I can?t find anything. But Faris has had to answer questions about it in several interviews, and Faris always denies that her performance is in any way mocking Cameron. If Camy and Sofia are burying the hatchet, then good for them. But I kind of doubt it. I have my doubts whether Sofia even cares if Cameron is mad at her. She probably enjoys the fact that she got under Cameron?s skin so much, especially if Cameron really did have a close relationship with Spike Jonze.

I don?t really care for the way some sites are throwing Scarlett Johansson?s old interviews in her face. She said in 2012, ?I’m not having kids anytime soon, I’m in a nice relationship, I’m working a lot, and, like I said, it’s not important to me.? OMG, burn her! I mean? that was then. Situations change. It?s not even like Scarlett has an Aniston-like history of baby-baiting her fanbase. Scarlett has never gushed over how she couldn?t wait to have babies or babies were going to happen sometime soon and babies babies babies. She never had to sell that side of herself, even though she?s gotten just as many questions about babies as any other female celebrity. Is it so hard to believe that Scarlett just fell in love and got pregnant? I?m not a ScarJo apologist or anything, but I don?t get why people are branding her a liar for this.
Now, what does concern me a little bit is that Scarlett?s bump might singlehandedly derail filming on The Avengers: Age of Ultron. Us Weekly has already said that ScarJo is five months along? which I personally don?t believe. The photos in this post are from this past weekend, and she is NOT five months along. I know every woman carries differently, etc. But she?s not five months along. She?s probably ? at most ? just out of her first trimester. So what will happen with Black Widow?s catsuit? Will they have to put in some stretchy maternity panels? Will Black Widow?s special power be ?sitting down with her feet up as Tony Stark brings her some tea??
E! News exclusively revealed that Scarlett Johansson is expecting her first child with fianc Romain Dauriac, and while we’re ecstatic for the actress and her soon-to-be hubby, we couldn’t help but wonder what this means for her future projects.
The pregnant star, who E! News has learned is due in August, is currently gearing up for her promotional tour for Captain America: The Winter Soldier, and once that’s done, Scarlett is scheduled to begin shooting Avengers 2.
And, well, it’ll be pretty hard to hide a growing baby bump under that tight, black catsuit. So what’s going to happen?
A source tells E! News that shooting for the superhero sequel will need a bit of rearranging.
“They’re going to fast-track her scenes,” the insider tells us.
Johansson is scheduled to begin shooting Avengers 2 overseas on April 5, after her promotional tour for Captain America is complete. The studio wouldn’t comment about her having to reschedule filming.
The pregnancy news comes just six months after it was announced that the Oscar-nominated actress is planning to tie the knot with her French journalist beau. E! News confirmed the couple was engaged in September after ScarJo flashed her vintage Art Deco ring on that finger at the Venice Film Festival, with her rep adding that the lovebirds are “very happy.”
The expectant couple went public with their relationship in November 2012, not long after Johansson ended a roughly year-long romance with Nate Naylor.

It would be funny and sad if producers were like, ?Eh, just recast it,? like they did when Terrence Howard wanted more money. No, I?m just kidding, they won?t do that. They?ll make her a special catsuit with stretchy panels and in lieu of filming her entire body, there will be lots of closeups of Scarlett from the boobs up. Her boobs really are going to look great, so maybe producers are like, ?Hey, this isn?t ALL bad news.? And when all else fails, they?ll just use CGI, Photoshop and all of the geeks in the land to make Scarlett?s waist look like this.

It used to be that the only time a female celebrity shaved their head was if they were about to be placed on a 5150 hold. Now it’s the cool thing to do. Rihanna did it, Cassie did it, Miley did it and now Demi Lovato did it.
On Tuesday, Demi tweeted a few shots of her newly half-shaven head. It’s unclear if she regretted it. She gave sort of half-smile half-what-have-I-done look in one of the photos. It’s the same look you give your girlfriend when you tell her you didn’t pull out.

Recently, the 28-year-old actress drew close to her loved ones after receiving some bad news.

She's had four children of her own so Heidi Klum was the perfect choice to host the Operation Shower event in Universal City, California on Tuesday (March 4).
The "Project Runway" host sore a black and white polka-dotted top and matching pants as she mingled with guests and even got to cuddle some tiny babies.
At the event, 120 military moms came to get some support from Babies R Us and enjoy fun shower games.
Operation Shower's mission is to provide joyous baby showers for military families to ease the stresses of deployment. Posting a photo on their Facebook page of Heidi holding a little one, the organization wrote, "We love that @heidiklum is chatting with our military families, getting her baby fix!"
