Kate Bosworth was in Oscar de la Renta last night, in reams of beige tulle topped by a veil lined with pearls. Her styling made her look saint-like and I love it. Shes nailing the look too, she must have practiced so hard at home. I often forget that Kate has heterochroma, where one eye is a different color than the other, and you can really see it here.
Here are Pharrell Williams and Helen Lasichanh in Chanel, and Helen is rocking that neon hair that we also saw on Cara Delevingne and Adwoa Aboah. Call me simple-minded, but I enjoy these direct interpretations of the theme with all the crosses and liturgical robes.
Helens combat boots are everything.

Kendall Jenner tried. Or did she? I feel like she did TRY to do something interesting but not on-theme, and it sort of backfired. Like, she thought she would be the only person wearing a chic pantsuit/jumpsuit thing and she sort of was the only one. But she didn?t stand out AT ALL. Maybe it was because this Off-White jumpsuit is just? not what anyone should wear to the Met Gala, especially given this year?s theme? If I?m stretching it, I would say her aim is to look angelic. But it?s so blah.
Emily Ratajkowski is basically Kendall?s look-alike at this point, only? Kendall might be a more useful person? It?s startling to realize that. I don?t know who Emily is wearing, but it?s boring.
Meanwhile, Irina Shayk and Bradley Cooper quietly walked the Met Gala carpet. This feels like their first (??) time where on a carpet where they really stopped and posed, although they have attended at least one Met Gala together before (but the photos were few and far between of them together). Irina looks? fine in this Versace. I?m okay with it. It has nothing to do with the theme though.

Everybody was primed and excited to see what Madonna was going to do for THIS Met Gala. Madonna has always used Catholic imagery in her fashion and her art. This Met Gala theme was tailor-made for her! So the anticipation was off the charts. And then she came in this gothic Jean Paul Gaultier look and? it was just a disappointment, right? I mean, it?s on-theme and she looks good-for-Madonna. But I was expecting her to do THE MOST. We expected too much from her.
Solange crowdsourced her Met Gala look, and she ended up in this Iris van Herpen. Her inspiration was ?the black Madonna.? Solange usually has a lot of fun with the themes and you can tell that she enjoys fashion? more than Beyonce, really. (Beyonce did not attend!)
Princess Beatrice is the first British royal woman to attend the Met Gala since Princess Diana attended in the 1990s. Beatrice didn?t cause much of a commotion though. She wore this vivid purple Alberta Ferretti gown with a small gold headpiece. Chic, simple.

Go ahead and yell at me, but I LOVED Bella Hadid?s Met Gala look. There were too many angels and virginal Marys and popes. We needed some ladies to bring some dark, gothic glamour to the Catholic theme, and Bella did that sh-t. Bella wore a look from the H&M Conscious Collection. Love it.
I saw a lot of people comparing Olivia Munn?s H&M Conscious Collection gown to Anne Hathaway?s Ralph Lauren gown at the Met Gala in 2015. It IS strikingly similar, especially considering that they were both Met Gala looks. I don?t hate this, but I also think it?s very derivative. I also think her face is ridiculous.
Riverdale?s Lili Reinhart also wore H&M Conscious Collection and quite honestly, I loved this. It was ?heavenly? and ethereal and she looked amazing on the carpet. She came with her Riverdale boyfriend Cole Sprouse.

I?m struggling to remember, but I don?t think Gisele Bundchen and Tom Brady have EVER adhered to any kind of Met Gala theme. At some point, you would think that they would accidentally fall backwards into being on-theme, but no, they never do. Gisele increasingly looks like a telenovela soap opera star and Tom looks like her male-escort ?walker.? Can you even fking believe that Gisele?s dress here is Versace? This was the worst Versace of the 2018 Met Gala it looks cheap, and like something Vanna White would wear (no disrespect to Vanna). The dress makes her boobs look SO SAD. And Tom Brady is just serving up Sprockets Realness. Messy. So messy. (One nice thing: I love Gisele?s earrings.)
Cindy Crawford also brought her boring husband and she also wore Versace. I guess you could argue that Cindy?s interpretation on the theme was that she was ?the devil? or ?sin? or something. But mostly, I think she just wanted to wear a pretty Versace gown. She looks amazing, but she could have been going anywhere.
The dudes from Migos also wore Versace and, quite honestly, they killed it. I love their looks.

Kim Kardashian did not bring Kanye West to the Met Gala. I think we can all breathe a sigh of relief for that. Kim arrived late on the carpet, so we had already seen a lot of pope looks and Joan of Arc looks and so this Versace gown just seemed? subdued. It?s a new Atelier Versace gown, but it?s based off a Gianni Versace-designed gown from the 1990s. If you look closely, you can see the crosses in the fabric. I mean? Kim looks fine. She didn?t embarrass herself. She also wasn?t looking to be the center of attention. Blah, it?s fine.
I was happy that Donatella Versace was one of the co-chairs for this year?s Met Gala, because Versace can do some very religious, very Catholic-inspired looks. But I ended up sort of disappointed by many of the Versace looks, including the one Donatella wore. I don?t get it?
SZA also wore Versace. This was one of my favorites from the Versace looks! Apparently, this was based on ?Weeping Madonna? art. The headpiece and gold tears are by Chris Habana. She killed it!

Jennifer Lopez went retro with this fabulous Balmain gown which looks like a nod to her Flygirl days. It had rhinestones, shoulder pads, feathers, a high slit and a giant bejeweled cross on the bodice and it was awesome. She and A-Rod were so extra on the red carpet, but thats why theyre perfect for each other. During their brief E! interview they just sang each others praises, and thats what weve come to expect from them. Theyre such showpeople with big personalities and it comes across in everything they do. I love this look including her styling.

I kind of enjoy the fact that Blake Lively always wants to wear the biggest gown to the Met Gala. I mean, part of it is thirst, but then again the Met Gala rewards the thirst. It?s the one place where you should go bigger and crazier. But? while Blake?s Versace look was big and notable, was it also sort of? boring? I?ve been struggling to really understand how she interpreted the theme. I?m sure this is probably based on some Medieval or Renaissance art work, but does it mean anything if people don?t get that? At what point is this just an overdone ballgown with a headpiece?
Speaking of not really getting it, I love Doutzen Kroes, but I don?t love her in this Sies Marjan look.
Cardi B went for something more obvious in this Moschino. I love her.

The theme of the 2018 Met Gala was ?Heavenly Bodies: Fashion and the Catholic Imagination,? and oh my God, was this one of the best themes in the history of the Met Gala. People had so much FUN with it. Some interpretations were very literal like, people dressed up in New Fashion-Forward Pope Gear but many people used religious art, gospel, and Catholic imagery to create their own twists on the theme. Katy Perry was one of the more literal-themed people. Katy came dressed as an angel. And it was awesome?? I think it was awesome. This is a custom Versace and on the cream-and-gold carpet, Katy posed like a kneeling (perhaps fallen?) angel. The Versace dress was gold chainmail and her wings spanned six feet? but it looks like more. She almost knocked out her stylist with her wings!

Before the Met Gala even started, I was really concerned that no one would just put their own fashion statement on some pope gear. Thankfully, Rihanna was like ?I?M THE NEW POPE, Y?ALL.? Rihanna wore this custom Maison Margiela (by John Galliano) look which is Pope Chic. There was a serious Popening happening at this year?s Met Gala, but Rihanna is definitely The People?s Pope. I love her. I love the way she interprets themes.
Chadwick Boseman also did some pope gear, and this is Versace. He?s the Pope-King of Wakanda.
