I’ve been surprised by how many stories People Magazine has run about Britney Spears and Jason Trawick’s breakup. There were four stories in People just last week. The first couple of reports framed the split in terms of normal couple problems, like habituation and too much time apart. Then the last two seemed to place the blame squarely on Britney, claiming she was jealous, insecure and “treats him like a friend, not a romantic partner.”
People’s stories were in contrast to Radar Online’s accounts, which claimed that Britney’s father and Jason, her two co-conservators (Jason has since resigned as Britney’s conservator) conspired for Jason to break up with Britney, and that they sugar-coated the version he told her, so much so that Britney wasn’t sure their relationship was even over. I mentioned that the timing was suspect to me, particularly since Britney had just left X Factor after the season wrapped, and was on the verge of signing a big contract, reportedly worth over $100 million, for a residency at a venue in Vegas.
US Weekly had a story I wanted to mention which jibes with Radar’s version and seems to sum it all up for me. They claim that Jason was behind the big new gig for Britney, that he planned to ditch her “for months” and that he waited until he had a nice cut of her would-be earnings to end the relationship. That’s so cold. Here’s their report:
Britney was blindsided! Though the singer, 31, said in a statement January 11 that she and fiance of one year Jason Trawick had “mutually agreed” to end their engagement, sources insist Britney Spears never saw it coming. “He had been planning to break up with her for months,” says an insider. Trawick, who also comanaged Spears’ career, “was using her. He made a big deal for her to get a residence spot at Caesars in Las Vegas, then finally had enough money to end it.” He also cut ties as her coconservator, resigning just hours after split news broke. Adding to Spears’ angst? Her exit from The X Factor, announced less than 24 hours earlier. Though Spears says leaving was her decision, she was, in fact fired, as US first reported in December. Still, the embattled singer is trying to move past the drama. “She has her kids and a lot of work coming up,” says a pal. “And she’s going to be set up on dates with cute guys soon!’

Doesn’t Britney have anyone in her life who isn’t using her? As usual, I came away from this story just feeling sorry for her. Plus she’s going to be “set up on dates with cute guys.” I expect a photo op soon.
Incidentally, as Britney’s co-manager, Jason probably made around 5-10% of her contract with Ceasars. (If it’s gone through, we haven’t heard about that yet.) That’s 5 to 10 million dollars. Not a bad payoff for a two year relationship. The creep.

Did you know that Kim Kardashian was in Cote d?Ivoire this past weekend? True story. My guess is that some African millionaire spread some cash around to get Kim to fly in for his club opening or event. She made two appearances ? on Saturday and Sunday night (??) ? at the Life Star Nightclub, and Kim did costume changes and she posed for photos and she basically looked a little bit bewildered, but I guess she?s popular in Cote d?Ivoire, so good for her.
Just like last week?s unflattering menswear disaster, Kim wasn?t really showing off her baby bump in tight, slinky clothing. My guess is that Kim is at that in-between stage where everything is getting bigger but she hasn?t really ?popped? yet, so she?s waiting to show off her bump until then. So for now she?s just going to wear baggy suits and horrible dresses and skirts with ridiculous peplums. I have to admit that I think she looks pretty in the black dress photos ? I mean, the dress is horrible, but her face looks pretty there.
According to the UK tabs, Kim did some karaoke at the club, which I?m sure was absolutely terrible and the African millionaire probably wanted his money back. According to Kim?s Twitter, she also visited an orphanage while she was there. For real! She tweeted: ?Just left an orphanage here in Abidjan and met some of the sweetest children ever.? What the hell? Is she looking to adopt or she just wanted to stop in and say hi the orphans?

As we discussed on Friday, Michael J. Fox sort-of hilariously slammed Taylor Swift during a short little interview with Vulture. Vulture asked MJF about Tina Fey and Amy Poehler?s jokes about Swifty going after his son, Sam (who was Mr. Golden Globe). When asked if he would welcome Taylor as a potential girlfriend for Sam, MJF said (in part): ?No. No ? Just back off? I don?t keep up with it all?. But Taylor Swift writes songs about everybody she goes out with, right? What a way to build a career.? Everyone had a chuckle and everyone was like ?Aw, poor Swifty, her dumb shtick is so tired.? But never fear! Swifty found a way to manipulate the situation! On Friday, Swifty tweeted this:

I could parse that for days! Do you think Michael really did ?get in touch? with her? I kind of think Swifty should have just let it hang out there and not said anything about MJF. I mean, what is there really to say? There?s no way anyone goes up against MJF and comes out victorious. Michael is just too beloved, respected and sympathetic.

Ladies and gentlemen, we have the return of LINNOCENT! I kind of missed ?Linnocent?. ?Linnocent? was the version of Lindsay Lohan when all she did in the face of overwhelming evidence of her wrong-doings was to simply deny, deny, deny. She always proclaimed her own innocence, even when there was flat-out video evidence to the contrary. Even when there was a police record, even when there was an audio recording. LINNOCENT LIVES! So, as you can guess, Lindsay Lohan will not be taking a plea deal in her LA case ? because she?s super-innocent.
Lindsay Lohan doesn’t care that the prosecutor in her car crash case is willing to let her skate without spending a day in jail … because she won’t plea bargain a case in which she says she’s innocent.
TMZ broke the story … attorney Shawn Holley was on her way to court Monday to negotiate a deal in Lindsay’s lying-to-cops car crash case when she got her walking papers. Law enforcement sources tell us … the prosecutor was willing to let Lindsay plead no contest and agree to six months of lockdown rehab — NO JAIL.
Presumably, the offer is still on the table but we’re told Lindsay could not be less interested. She doesn’t think she did anything wrong and will not plead to a crime she says she didn’t commit.
FYI — our law enforcement sources tell us … prosecutors have her dead to rights, because she told cops she was a passenger in the Porsche when there’s overwhelming evidence she was the driver.
So get this … if the case goes to trial and Lindsay is found guilty, she faces 19 months in jail. On top of that, the lying-to-cops case has triggered a probation violation in her jewelry heist case and she could get ANOTHER 245 days for that.
It’s hard to keep track.

It is confusing, so let me see if I can get this straight ? Lindsay?s next court date is the 30th, right? And that court date is for her probation violation ? we haven?t even gotten to the court dates for the actual charge of lying to the police about being the driver during her car accident on the PCH last summer. So, Shawn Holley was trying to work out a plea deal for both of those criminal incidents ? the lying to the police AND the probation violation? And under the deal Shawn was working on, Lindsay would have been on crack-lockdown at a hardcore rehab facility for six months. But Lindsay won?t take the deal because she?s super-innocent. Totally.
