Dolly Parton is a national treasure, an international icon, a woman without peer, a humanitarian, a brilliant businesswoman, and just a lovely person. All Dolly does is win. She befriends a local doctor and out of that friendship, Dolly ends up funding the creation of a Covid vaccine. Dolly wanted kids born in poverty to have access to books, and somehow she ended up sending out millions of books to children all over America over the course of decades. Dolly told RuPaul that she?s pretty sure she?s a bigger drag queen and RuPaul didn?t say sh-t because he knew she was right!! Dolly defies demographics. Dolly is forever. Recently, Tennessee lawmakers introduced a bill to erect a Dolly Parton statue in Nashville. The statue had broad support among Republicans and Democrats. But it does not have Dolly?s support.
It was something that Democrats and Republicans in Nashville could agree on: a statue of the country music legend Dolly Parton on the grounds of the State Capitol. The only problem? It doesn?t have Parton?s vote.
The singer released a statement on Thursday asking the Tennessee General Assembly to pull a bill that would have started the process for commissioning a statue of her.
?Given all that is going on in the world, I don?t think putting me on a pedestal is appropriate at this time,? Parton said in the statement, which was posted on Twitter and Instagram.
A monument to Parton gained support during a debate over whether to remove the bust of Nathan Bedford Forrest, a former Confederate general, slave trader and leader of the Ku Klux Klan, from the Tennessee State Capitol. In 2019, a Republican House leader, Representative Jeremy Faison, suggested Parton as a potential replacement for the Forrest bronze; in January, a Democratic legislator, Representative John Mark Windle, introduced a bill to initiate plans for the statue on Capitol grounds. According to the bill, the statue would be positioned to face Ryman Auditorium, a storied country music venue.
In her statement, Parton, 75, left the option open for a statue to be erected in the future, writing, ?I hope, though, that somewhere down the road several years from now or perhaps after I?m gone if you still feel I deserve it, then I?m certain I will stand proud in our great State Capitol as a grateful Tennessean.?
The singer was being considered for her role in country music history, her philanthropy and her strong Tennessee roots. (She was born in Sevierville, Tenn., or as she likes to say, ?the foothills of the Great Smoky Mountains.?) It helped that Parton has long kept her political opinions to herself, saying in the 2019 podcast series ?Dolly Parton?s America? that she avoided the subject because ?I have too many fans on both sides of the fence.?
Representative Windle?s office did not immediately respond to a request for comment on whether he planned to remove the bill from consideration. The bill was scheduled to be considered by a House committee on Tuesday.

I?m including Dolly?s full statement below. She?s a treasure and truly a good human. I understand her point completely about how this is a weird moment to talk about a statue. That being said, I wouldn?t mind at all if the state legislature just went ahead and voted on it and began to take action on commissioning the statue. By the time everything is completed, maybe Dolly will be ready for it. And by saying she doesn?t want the statue right now, just proves the point of why she should have the statue. Let?s replace all of the Confederate statues with Dolly Parton. And Harriet Tubman. And, fk it, Beyonce.

Of all the crappy apologies from white dudes, can we safely say that Justin Timberlake?s apology was one of the worst? Like, it was so bad, so late, and it just didn?t feel authentic. Justin didn?t even say whether he would offer personal apologies to both Britney Spears and Janet Jackson privately. I mean, there could be another reason for that I doubt either woman wants to speak to him. But that doesn?t change the fact that A) Justin sucks and B) he conveniently chose to issue his apology statement just two weeks after his latest film was released on Apple+. But according to ?sources,? Justin isn?t doing any of this for the publicity.
Justin Timberlake?s apology to ex-girlfriend Britney Spears and Janet Jackson is the real deal, according to sources close to the star.
?He did this on his own, and it?s really from the heart. This isn?t about publicity,? a source told Page Six.
On Friday, the ?Cry Me a River? singer, 40, posted a lengthy apology to the singers for his role in how the media teated them following his breakup from Spears and fallout from Jackson?s 2004 Super Bowl performance.
Our source added that Timberlake is serious about being a part of the solution.
?He realizes he needed to speak up and that it?s been long enough,? they said. ?He knows that he has sometimes benefited from these moments, and that he should?ve said something sooner to defend both of them. He means it, and he?s very happy that he?s able to speak up now. It?s a bigger conversation and he wants to do his part to help move solutions forward.?

Meanwhile, people had been streaming and downloading Janet Jackson?s album Control due to its 35th anniversary. JT?s fauxpology just brought more attention to that.
Janet Jackson got more than an apology from Justin Timberlake she got a revival. Janets 1986 album, Control, has skyrocketed on the charts since Justin issued his mea culpa Friday over her 2004 Super Bowl wardrobe malfunction. As you know, she was skewered by critics, while Justin remained silent and unscathed.
Well, Control hit #1 on the Apple Top 40 U.S. Pop Album Chart a week ago before Justins apology. It was the 35th anniversary of the album. But after the apology its going really strong now the 8th most downloaded album on Apple iTunes.
Janet took to social media and said, ?I was at home just the other day by myself, and I began to cry. I was crying because I was so thankful for all that God has blessed me with, all that he has given me, and I?m so thankful for him being in my life?.I?m so thankful for all of you being in my life. You?re so special to me, and I want to thank all of you for making ?Control? number one once again. After 35 years, never in a million years would I think that this would happen. I really appreciate you, and I love you so, so much. Thank you.?

As TMZ notes, people were already streaming and downloading Control before Timberlakes apology, but they kept going and going when JT showed his ass again. I?m 100% behind ?punishing? JT by elevating Janet?s music and Britney?s music. I wonder if the kids have rediscovered Rhythm Nation yet? That was my favorite Janet album growing up, I was completely obsessed with it. I hope fans rediscover Britney?s Blackout, which I think was a really underrated album at the time and still, today. ?Gimme More,? ?Freakshow,? and ?Piece of Me? are three of my favorite Britney songs and they?re all on that album.

In 2019, the NY Times did an expos on Ryan Adams in which his ex-wife Mandy Moore and several other women spoke on the record about his years of creepy, manipulative, domineering behavior towards women. Mandy spoke about how he emotionally abused her for years and stunted her music and acting career, and other women detailed how he would manipulate and groom them especially when they were quite young and then string them along and dominate them. Again, this was 2019. Mandy had been divorced from him for four years at that point and she only looked back to tell her story and back up his other victims. Since then, she has said a few times that she doesn?t want to keep revisiting it because (as she rightly concluded) Ryan gets off on being talked about. Two years after the NYT expos, another publication contacted Mandy for an interview, but only if she would rehash all of that sh-t again. When she told them no, they pulled their interview request. I can?t believe sh-t like this is still happening.
Mandy Moore has said all she?ll say about ex-husband Ryan Adams. On Tuesday, the ?This is Us? star revealed on her Instagram Stories that she is furious that an unnamed publication wouldn?t interview her unless she delved ?a certain subject? ? which seemed to be her allegedly abusive relationship with the rocker. Moore, 36, said that her ?blood is still boiling? that she was asked yet again about the matter.
?When they (the publication) were told that I had spoken plenty about a certain subject in my life and would have no further comment (truly there are countless interviews they could pull from, that story is over and there?s nothing more to say.),? she wrote.
?Any comment I make about said experience becomes clickbait and gives them the energy and time they seek and have already stolen from too many for too long,? Moore continued.
The ?Candy? singer noted that she has been working in showbiz for over two decades, ?but the message this sends is insulting and so out of touch with the cultural discussion around abusive relationships, directly linking someone?s value back to their abuser. The refusal to interview someone unless they agree to relieve that trauma publicly? No thank you,? she added.
Moore and Adams were married from 2009 to 2016. In 2019, Adams, 46 was accused of emotional abuse or sexual misconduct by seven women including Moore in an explosive expos in the New York Times. Afterwards Moore said she had no regrets about opening up about the alleged abuse.
?Speaking your truth can be painful and triggering but it?s always worth it,? she wrote on Instagram. ?My heart is with all women who have suffered any sort of trauma or abuse. You are seen and heard.?

I am very curious about which media outlet did this. Considering it really was the two-year anniversary of the NYT expos, I kind of wonder if it was the Times. It could have been another outlet though, just looking to say something about the anniversary. What?s so fking strange is that Mandy is currently promoting the fifth season of This Is Us, likely for sweeps (is that still a thing?). She literally has stuff to promote, but media outlets won?t talk to her about her art, at least not unless she?ll constantly relive and rehash her trauma? No. That?s not the way this happens, at all. Especially since she?s been pretty clear and explicit for two years that she has no interest in uttering that man?s name or constantly talking about him in the press. This is an extension of Ryan?s abuse, via media proxy.

I don?t know about you, but I remember the Taylor Swift-Harry Styles breakup vividly. Their relationship only lasted a couple of months long enough for several pretty pap strolls and they reportedly broke up on or right around New Year?s Eve 2012/New Year?s Day 2013. While Taylor tried to play it like she dumped him and that he was broken up about it, I still remember Harry?s vibe of ?whew, I?m so glad that?s over.? He went back to England post-breakup and Taylor literally flew out there to try to see him!! God, I still remember all of that. I?ve been thinking about that brief Swift-Styles relationship because, honestly, I?m getting a similar vibe from Olivia Wilde. Way too extra, way too fast. And like Swifty?s publicist back then, Olivia?s publicist is doing too much to promote this relationship, complete with careful updates to People Magazine.
Olivia Wilde and Harry Styles are heading across the pond. The pair, who were first seen holding hands at a friends wedding early last month, have been staying together at Styles Los Angeles home for a while and will soon be heading to England, a source tells PEOPLE.
Wilde will also be bringing her kids, son Otis, 6, and daughter Daisy, 4, to reunite with their dad Jason Sudeikis. The actor is currently filming the second season of Ted Lasso in London. Wilde, 36, and Styles, 27, had been working together on the upcoming film, Dont Worry Darling, in L.A. The film is Wildes highly-anticipated sophomore directorial project which she also stars in.

First of all, I?m super-excited that we?re getting a new season of Ted Lasso!! The first season was so good! Second of all, Olivia has had the kids this whole time, while she?s been directing a movie and banging one of the actors? Hm. Third of all, yeah? too much too fast. I suspect the main reason why Olivia is going to England is to drop off the kids and all that. But there are definitely some old-school Swifty vibes all around.
