Kate made an otherwise standard little black dress into a memorable, futuristic fashion statement that was subtle yet perfectly appropriate for the focus of the evening.
She was named number 12 on the Maxim Magazine Top 100 in 2013, even though she was surrounded by the likes of women who are a decade younger than her.

Miss Lopez purchased the home after her ex-husband Marc Anthony reportedly spent $2.5 million on a new home in Encino, California.

That’s why she’s taking her ovaries out too.
Some doctors recommend patients undergo the surgery by age 40 or when a woman is done having children, though it may trigger early menopause.
No word on when that’s going to happen but you’ll probably know once you see an eBay auction that says, “Angelina Jolie’s ovaries! Start $5,000,000! Buy it now: $15,000,000!”

I had an issue with her hair (she flat-ironed and did a center-part) and her Botox/lip injections. As you can see in these photos, whatever work Nicole has had done to her face is much less noticeable when her makeup and hair are styled ?softer?. The hairstyle really compliments her, and the effect is that her lip tragedy is less noticeable. I really like her dress too ? this is a great choice for the start of Cannes. She can do glamour and sparkles for the evening, but I like that she went for a more professional/somber look for the photocall. She looks like a sexy widow. It?s a hot look. Update: finally got the designer ID on the dress, it’s Sarah Burton for Alexander McQueen Spring 2013. It’s one of the better pieces I’ve seen from Burton.
Should we say anything about her bolt-ons? CB kind of thinks Nicole?s style went a little bit haywire when she got them, and that?s a solid theory. For years, Nicole was the slim, small-breasted woman who could wear anything. I think she?s struggling with how to dress her bigger boobs now. Also: how GD short is Steven Spielberg?! Or is Nicole just THAT tall?

Gearing up for the exciting days ahead, Nicole Kidman and Steven Spielberg showed up at the Jury Press Conference at the 66th Cannes Film Festival today (May 15).
The legendary director will actually serve as the President of the Jury this time around, and he seemed to be in good spirits as he fielded questions from members of the international press.
He noted, ?My admiration for the steadfast mission of the festival to champion the international language of movies is second to none. The most prestigious of its kind, the festival has always established the motion picture as a cross-cultural and generational medium.?
Meanwhile, Ms. Kidman was the picture of perfection in her figure-flattering black dress and casually side-swept crimson coif.

The Cannes Film Festival has officially begun! HUZZAH! It should be a fun two weeks full of interesting photos, although if past Cannes Film Festivals are any indication, I?m due to get a cold and I?ll end up editing photos while high on antihistamines for a week until I?m completely OVER Cannes. But right now I feel fine and I?m excited to see these pics from The Great Gatsby photocall. Gatsby will premiere tonight, it?s opening the festival. Are you excited?
While I?m sure Baz Luhrmann will bring some epic drama to the premiere, I?m not so sure about the actual stars of the film. Leonardo DiCaprio is between official girlfriends, so he?ll probably be going solo (and boring) to the premiere. Carey Mulligan has been a total snoozefest (style-wise) so far during Gatsby?s promotion, and Isla Fisher has barely been around. So? while I?m excited about the premiere photos, it?s not like we?re waiting for Brangelina, you know?
At the photocall, Carey wore a Balenciaga jumpsuit which is not all that great. It?s fine for a photocall,but it?s not the most flattering thing. It?s neither heinous (and thus noteworthy) nor awesome. It?s just boringly fug. Isla Fisher?s dress is more traditionally pretty and traditionally ?south of France?. She looks really good here. As for Leo and Tobey Maguire? sure. Leo looks particularly good. Well-rested! He?s going to have a great time in Cannes.

You know I?m not Zoe Saldana?s biggest fan, but I really do try to give her a break sometimes. But I will never understand how Zoe became some kind of ?Fashion Girl?. Yes, she?s made a few good choices over the years, and I applaud her for consistently trying new looks, even if they rarely work out. But for the most part, Zoe is on my permanent ?Worst Dressed? List. And this dress is a perfect example of that. These are photos from last night?s Star Trek Into Darkness premiere in LA. This post is just for the ladies of the premiere, I?ll do a separate post for the dudes.
Zoe?s dress is Rodarte, and believe it or not, it was totally worse on the runway. This red carpet version is actually an improvement!! And that?s sad, because this dress is completely terrible. The ruffles, the netting, the complete design failure. It?s the wrong color for Zoe too ? who puts a dark-skinned woman in this fleshy-nude color?! But really, the whole thing just looks impossibly cheap, like someone repurposed some old stockings and some glitter. And OMG that white cardigan?! Jesus take the wheel.
Here?s something shocking ? I love this Zuhair Murad on Alice Eve. The design seems futuristic, which is perfect for this particular premiere, it?s a nice, clean, modern look, and it?s tailored beautifully. Well done, Alice. My one complaint: her makeup seems ?off?.
Here?s Kate Beckinsale in Alberta Ferretti. She?s not in the movie, it?s not her premiere or anything, so she doesn?t need to steal focus. So she just chose a flattering and cute little black dress. She looks nice. I like the jazzy Jimmy Choos too ? the yellow detailing is nice pop of color.

OMG. Here are some new photos of Nicole Kidman at the Cannes Film Festival Jury Dinner last night ? today is the opening day of CFF, and guess what? Kidman is on the jury! That means for the next twelve days or so, we?re pretty much going to have a Nicole Kidman fashion post. Was Diane Kruger on the jury last year, I think? And remember how many photos there were of her? Remember how everyone was like ?seriously, ENOUGH with Diane Kruger?? That?s what it?s going to be like this year with Nicole.
And trust me, Nicole has come prepared, probably even more prepared than Kruger. Nicole will be wearing the best, the most noteworthy, the most headline-grabbing ensembles. At least that?s my hope, because I?m really looking forward to covering some noteworthy Cannes fashion this year. This Jury Dinner ensemble isn?t stunning me ? I don?t know the designer ID, but Nicole wears a lot of L?Wren Scott, and this could totally be L?Wren. And I?m pretty sure the shoes are Jimmy Choo, because Nicole has just been named the new face (feet?) of Choo:
Nicole Kidman is the new face of Jimmy Choo. The Oscar-winning actress will star in the brand’s autumn/winter 2013-14 campaign – the first since Sandra Choi took over the helm as sole creative director.
The imagery was shot last month by photographer Mikael Jansson and is described as having “a cinematic feel that hints at the power and seduction of the Jimmy Choo woman”. The adverts will premiere globally in August issues.
“I’ve always loved fashion and often use it as a way to get into character,” said Kidman. “There is a lot of complexity, mystery and femininity to the Jimmy Choo woman.”
The 45-year-old has previously acted as a brand ambassador for Omega watches and Chanel No.5 fragrance.
“I’m such a great admirer and feel enormously honoured to be working with Nicole Kidman,” said Choi. “Nicole is one of the finest actresses in the world, who I knew could convey the empowered glamour of the brand. But she is also so nuanced and refined; she brings an attitude of defiance, strength, sensuality and elegance.”
The Vogue cover girl was recently announced as a member of the Cannes Film Festival jury, so we’re expecting to see plenty of scene-stealing footwear gracing the Croisette.

I think Brandi chose the right moment to call it quits and exit the battlefield ? she waited until she had promoted her book and squeezed every last drop out of the drama, then she assumed the high road and left LeAnn looking like the petty one. And not only that, but I get the feeling that LeAnn doesn?t really know what to do or how to ?fight? (not to mention WHO to fight) now.

Probably. She did leave up a bunch of tweets about ?Twitter Stepmoms? and motherhood and what one of her friends got her for Mother?s Day (?), as well as this tweet: ?I’m always amazed at how twisted things can get. Meanwhile, Radar has a story claiming that Brandi spent Mother?s Day (or the day after MD) ?alongside? Scheana Marie, Eddie Cibrian?s other mistress circa 2008-09. What does Christina mean when she says she doesn’t slob around at home — “not after three years of marriage“? I can’t tell if she’s referring to a certain “honeymoon period” that dictates when sweatpants are appropriate or not. I do understand the sentiment that it’s always nice to fix oneself up for one’s partner or spouse, but there is a difference between, say, lounging around in form-fitting yoga pants (rowrr) without makeup and wearing hole-filled sweatpants while neglecting personal grooming. I guess Christina and her husband see a caftan as a bit dressier than sweatpants. To each his own. Chris Evans loves sweatpants.

Purse p0rn!! Here are some photos of a very sunny-looking Charlize Theron in West Hollywood yesterday. Will Charlize dethrone Reese Witherspoon as the relatable blonde Hollywood mom? Doubtful, although I did make myself laugh with that one. Charlize?s default is set on ?hardcore? so seeing photos of her looking smiley and happy are the exception to the rule. While I usually loathe most yellow clothes, Charlize?s outfit is super-cute. And I love the purse.
Charlize is about to start work on Seth MacFarlane?s directorial follow-up to Ted, a film called A Million Ways To Die In The West. It?s supposed to be a Blazing Saddles-type cowboy comedy, and Charlize is the lead. The rest of the cast has been firmed up too, and Charlize will be supported by: Liam Neeson, Amanda Seyfried, Sarah Silverman, Giovanni Ribisi and Neil Patrick Harris. NPH!! LIAM!! Okay, that sounds really interesting.
Charlize recently came to Capitol Hill to campaign for more funding for PEPFAR, the president?s emergency AIDS relief program (which George W. Bush started).
When Charlize Theron came to Capitol Hill recently, she undoubtedly turned a few heads. But the Academy Award-winning actress didn?t come to be seen; she came to be heard.
Ten years after President Bush began an emergency AIDS relief program, known as PEPFAR, Theron is calling on the United States to renew its commitment in the global fight against HIV/AIDS.
?We’re looking at our first AIDS-free generation being born in 2015,? Theron tells Top Line. ?We can’t stop now.?
Theron runs an AIDS support program for youth from her home country of South Africa, Africa Outreach Project, where 10 percent of the population has the disease, and met with members of Congress to talk about her work. Her advocacy for continued monetary assistance comes at a time when lawmakers have little appetite for increased spending, but the South African actress says the U.S.?s contributions to foreign aid efforts are more modest than some think.
?A lot of Americans have this misperception that foreign aid is around 25 percent, which it’s not. It’s less than 1 percent,? says Theron.
Executive Director of UNAIDS Michel Sidib accompanied Theron during her Capitol Hill visit and says the United States has been a crucial partner in making progress against AIDS.
?The taxpayer’s money is producing results, starting with the commitment of President Bush, bringing the emergency plan, showing that we can really save lives of people when no one was having any hope,? Sidib says. “It was $15,000 per person per year. Today we have 8 million people on treatment. We save millions of lives.?

Charlize?s actions are admirable? but I seriously doubt she?s going to get any extra funding from Congress. And not to put it all on the House?s screwed-up spending priorities ? I doubt Pres. Obama wants to waste any political capital on PEPFAR too. Not when funding has been slashed for Meals On Wheels, Head Start, TSA, air traffic controllers, the US Geological Survey (the people monitoring volcanos and earthquakes), and the Department of Defense. I know it sucks, but there it is.

Here are photos of Katie Holmes on the set of her new movie, Mania Days. Katie looks thrilled to be back at work (and remember, Katie’s career is on fire now – ha), but I am not thrilled to see that fug booties are in tow. Not THE fug booties, mind you, but a pair very much like them. Fug booties must be Katie’s answer to “the lifts.”
You might notice that even without the new fug booties, Katie looks rather unkempt in a frumpy sweater, plain white tee, and Lee cutoff jeans. Her decidedly non-glamourous appearance here is likely a result of her character, who is a manic depressive. Who’s the dude? His name is Luke Kirby, and he also plays a manic depressive who falls in love with Katie’s character in a psychiatric hospital … because that always works out. He’s kind of cute though, right? And he and Katie look good together from behind too. I bet the tabloids will be setting them up in no time. It looks like they had fun while the cameras weren’t rolling as well.
Katie’s also rocking some grey strands of hair here (which are decidedly different than the grey that Tom Cruise gave her) for her character, who is a poet in addition to being bipolar. This is going to be quite the depressing romantic dramedy, isn’t it? Oh well, at least Katie’s branching out a bit and doing different things, unlike perma-action-mode Tom.

She adds that one day she might “end up with a woman raising my children…that’s how androgynous I am!” Does she mean she would be amenable to the idea of raising a child with another woman as her partner? “Yes, I was raised that open.”

In a New York Times op-ed piece called “My Medical Choice,” Angelina Jolie revealed she underwent a double mastectomy after genetic tests showed she had an 87% risk of developing the breast cancer that killed her mother at age 56. People Magazine says:
The 37-year-old actress had the surgery in February and completed the last of the follow-up procedures in April.
“I wanted to write this to tell other women that the decision to have a mastectomy was not easy,” says Jolie in the column appearing Tuesday. “But it is one I am very happy that I made. My chances of developing breast cancer have dropped from 87 percent to under 5 percent. I can tell my children that they don’t need to fear they will lose me to breast cancer.”
Jolie, who has six children with Brad Pitt, says the actor was at her side every step of the way.
“I am fortunate to have a partner, Brad Pitt, who is so loving and supportive,” she writes. “So to anyone who has a wife or girlfriend going through this, know that you are a very important part of the transition.”
Pitt was with her “for every minute of the surgeries,” and even during the difficult times, “We managed to find moments to laugh together.”
“We knew this was the right thing to do for our family and that it would bring us closer. And it has,” she writes.
Jolie describes in detail her surgery and follow-up procedures, including receiving implants, and that now her children “see nothing that makes them uncomfortable.”
“They can see my small scars and that’s it,” she writes. “Everything else is just Mommy, the same as she always was. And they know that I love them and will do anything to be with them as long as I can.
“On a personal note,” she continues, “I do not feel any less of a woman. I feel empowered that I made a strong choice that in no way diminishes my femininity.”
I just hoped they kept a tight reign on whoever cleaned up after the surgeries, because I have a feeling genuine Angelina Jolie breast tissue would make a mint on eBay. I know the fake Angelina Jolie breast tissue I put up last week broke twenty bucks before the jerks made me take it down.
