We got some exciting reveals in the run up to The Devil Wears Prada 2 being released. One was the real Emily Charlton (played by Emily Blunt in the original film) unmasking herself after 20+ years! Her name is Leslie Fremar and she parlayed her time at Vogue into a great career as a stylist to the stars, including Charlize Theron. Next, a central plot point to the sequel was leaked (which I will repeat here so proceed knowing that spoilers lay ahead). The big twist was that Justin Theroux was playing Emily Blunt?s love interest and that his character was a take on Jeff Bezos, in turn casting Emily in the Lauren Sanchez role. Keep in mind, all this was written and filmed a year before it was announced that The Bezoses were ?sponsoring? the Met Gala for $10-20 million. So, did the send up in the movie ruffle a few billionaire feathers? That?s what Radar Online says, claiming Jeff Bezos BANNED Justin Theroux from the Met Gala this year as punishment. Do we buy it?
Justin Theroux is the star who was allegedly banned from the Manhattan bash on May 4 after his character in The Devil Wears Prada 2, billionaire Benji Barnes, was widely believed to be based on Bezos.
?Justin?s character is Jeff, plain and simple,? a source dished to Hollywood insider Rob Shuter, who wrote about it on Substack.
?And Jeff has zero sense of humor when the joke is about him ? or Lauren. He can laugh at almost anything else. But mock him, mock her, and you?re done.?
Theroux plays a divorced billionaire tycoon who undergoes a dramatic glow-up by shedding weight and becoming a far more polished, stylish power player after falling for Emily Blunt?s glamorous fashionista, Emily Charlton, a storyline some claim hit a nerve with Bezos.
The billionaire famously morphed from a skinny, socially awkward tech mogul into a buffed-up luxury-loving alpha male after getting together with curvaceous vixen Sanchez in 2019 and divorcing his wife of 25 years, Mackenzie Scott.
?Jeff did not find it funny,? a second source claimed. ?Not the parody, not the performance, not the Lauren angle ? noen of it. And once Jeff was offended, Justin was never getting through that door.?
In the film, there?s another tip to Bezos? life: Benji?s ex-wife, played by Lucy Liu, dedicates her life to philanthropy post-divorce, just as Scott did with the $38.3 billion she got in the former couple?s divorce settlement.
Blunt?s character is also the ?star? of the high-powered coupling of the fashion queen and billionaire, becoming a chief executive at Dior. It?s not far from how Sanchez has been desperate to reinvent herself as a patron of fashion and design.
There had even been reports in 2025 that Bezos was circling an attempt to purchase Vogue?s parent company, Cond Nast, as a wedding present to Sanchez. The rumors intensified after the former TV news reporter was given the digital cover of Vogue following the couple?s June 2025 nuptials.
In the film, Benji attempts to buy the fictional Runway magazine so Emily can run it.
Theroux has been a popular presence at the Met Gala, having attended four times. He walked the stylish steps of the Metropolitan Museum of Art in 2004, 2010, 2018, and 2019.

Yeah, I don?t think I?m sold on this one. According to Radar?s sources, Bezos can?t take a joke, but they say he?s even more upset when someone pokes fun at his wife. (Meaning the man must be livid 24/7.) Sooooooo, why ban only Justin Theroux and not Emily Blunt as well? Or everyone from the film for that matter? But here?s where I really think the idea falls apart like last year?s fillers: whatever money Anna Wintour deigns to accept for the gala, I don?t think she?d ever relinquish control of the guest list. At least, not while she?s living, and even after that I don?t doubt she?ll find a way. The most reasonable explanation for Justin?s absence is that he and wife Nicole Brydon Bloom just welcomed a baby! Nicole already showed up for the DWP2 NYC red carpet very very very recently post-partum; I bet/hope Justin was like, ?fulfilled contractually required promo duties, we?re nesting at home now, peace.? Also, lol to Radar calling Justin a ?popular presence? at the Met? and then naming the FOUR times he?s been over the last 22 years.
Lastly, while I love the idea of poking fun at the Bezoses in DWP2, something about comparing Emily Charlton to Lauren Sanchez has never sat right with me. In the first movie, Emily Charlton is a genuine fashionista with real style. Whereas Lauren Sanchez has the uncanny ability to make anything look cheap. I understand how it all ties together for the story they wanted to tell, but I think they did Emily?s character dirty. I said what I said!

As soon as the Oscar nominations came out, the PR machine behind Oppenheimer made sure leading man and newly-minted Best Actor nominee Cillian Murphy spoke to the press about what he was doing and how he was feeling when he got the good news. He was in Ireland enjoying his mother?s sponge cake, and the unsaid but apparent emotion he was feeling was dread at having to do more of the non-acting part of his job. Now a couple weeks later, his costar Emily Blunt is sharing her story. Talking to Josh Horowitz in New York this week, Emily deployed every ounce of Englishness she has as she described her whereabouts when she learned she?d gotten the first Oscar nomination of her career:
While [Emily Blunt] is ecstatic over her [Oscar] nod, she was in kind of a stinky position when she heard of the nomination.
The ?Devil Wears Prada? actress revealed that she was actually scooping up her dog?s poop when she was notified about the Best Supporting Actress Academy Award nomination last month.
?It?s all quite scary, the anticipation of it, and I think you just try not to listen to buzz because buzz can be built on sand sometimes,? she said during a conversation with Josh Horowitz at 92NY on Tuesday.
?And so when it did happen, and when it happened in such a far-reaching way for all of us in the movie and every crew member, it was magical,? Blunt continued.
The film earned a whopping 13 nominations in total, including for Best Picture.
?I did have a brief cry in the middle of Brooklyn, brief weep directly after picking up my dog?s poop,? Blunt went on. ?I did pick up her poop and then I heard that I got nominated, so it was perfect.?
The British actress revealed that husband John Krasinski also ?had a really good cry as well, after helping me with the poop.?
?I think he went and put it in the trash, and then we both cried,? she recalled.

Imagine it: she could be sitting in the Dolby Theatre on March 10, dazzling in her designer gown, and all of a sudden she picks up wafts of poop odor. And it works the other way around too! Every time she bends down to collect a steaming pile of her pup?s poop, she?ll be reminded, ?I?m an Oscar nominee.? All that being said, if her hubby John Krasinski was with her and cried with her as she says? then why didn?t he pick up the poop for her?! They knew a call was coming from a publicist whether the news was good or bad, he could have assumed the morning?s sh*t duties. Next red carpet they do together, the lip readers might want to check if it?s Emily this time talking about wanting to divorce John, just sayin?.

Oppenheimer had a big night at the Critics Choice Awards, picking up Best Director and Best Drama. Interestingly enough, the critics did not give the Best Actor trophy to Cillian Murphy instead, Paul Giamatti won for The Holdovers. It feels like something interesting is happening in the Best Actor race, and Giamatti might actually be able to pull off the ?upset.? Meanwhile, Emily Blunt is still getting nominated all over the place for her work in Oppenheimer but she?s also losing everything to an actor from The Holdovers: Da?Vine Joy Randolph. We shall call this the Oppenholdovers phenomenon. Emily wore a one-sleeved Armani gown and she did attend the Critics Choice with her husband. So no divorce drama for now! This dress is okay. Not my favorite, but it?s fine.
Here?s Cillian Murphy. He is not enjoying this awards season, but I get the feeling he enjoys hanging out with other actors.
Pedro Pascal: adorable. He keeps losing to Kieran Culkin at awards shows.
Rachel Brosnahan wore Givenchy. What a weird dress? She looks good, but it?s a weird dress.
Ariana Debose also wore Givenchy. Kind of phoned it in, which is fine. It?s just the Critics Choice.

Although Emily Blunt did an excellent job in Oppenheimer, I did think it was kind of a thankless part. That does not appear to be the case with her next project. Yesterday Netflix released a trailer for Pain Hustlers, coming out in late October and starring Blunt and Chris Evans as pharmaceutical reps. I?m getting Erin Brockovich-meets-Breaking Bad vibes, with an opioid-crisis setting:
Emily Blunt is hustling her way to the top in her latest film.
On Wednesday, Netflix debuted the first trailer for Pain Hustlers, which stars Blunt and Chris Evans as pharmaceutical sales employees pushing opioids in a story based on real events.
Blunt plays Liza Drake, a single mom ?at the end of her rope? after losing her job, per a synopsis. ?A chance meeting with pharmaceutical sales rep Pete Brenner (Evans) puts her on an upwards trajectory economically but dubious path ethically as she becomes entangled in a dangerous racketeering scheme.?
The film?s trailer teases Liza and Pete?s high-earning, hard-partying lifestyle as title cards read that Pain Hustlers ?may cause increased energy, elevated mood, ecstasy, paranoia, aggression [and] greed.?
As Liza deals with ?her increasingly unhinged boss, the worsening medical condition of her daughter, and a growing awareness of the devastation the company is causing,? she begins to re-examine her career choices.
Netflix described the film as a ?sharp and revealing look at what some people do out of desperation and others do out of greed.

Tis the season for pharmaceutical cinema, I guess. I?m genuinely surprised that Netflix is releasing this so soon after Painkiller, their six-part series with Matthew Broderick as Richard Sackler that just came out last month. Don?t get me wrong, I?m positively gleeful with Big Pharma clocking in so much screen time as the super villains they are. They?ve well and truly earned it. I just find the timing questionable from a content perspective. My general impression of this first trailer was, this story has already been told, so what?s different? I think it?s gonna come down to the solid cast bringing people in, led by Blunt and Evans, and rounded out with Andy Garcia and? Catherine O?Hara! You can?t tell who she?s playing from the trailer, but does it really matter? (Answer: no. Thank you for gifting us with your talent, O Great Catherine.)

Emily Blunt has a new interview in The Sunday Times to promote A Quiet Place: Part II. Unfortunately the interview is behind a paywall. But the big takeaway is that Emily and her husband, John Kransinski, are apparently keeping their fame a secret from their daughters, Hazel, seven and Violet, four. Recently, Hazel came home from school and asked her parents if they were famous. Emily and John were caught off guard because they?ve, ?never said that word in the house.?
During a recent interview with The Sunday Times, Blunt explained why she wants their kids to remain ?oblivious? to her and Krasinski?s fame.
If they can remain oblivious for the longest time Id be thrilled,? she said. ?They dont even want to see what I do. They dont even like it when I put on make-up.?
?They dont like any of it!? Blunt continued. ?They just want me to be their mommy.
Blunt explained that her oldest daughter, Hazel, recently became aware of her stardom when one of the kids at her school told Hazel about it.
Its a strange thing to navigate, you know, Blunt said. [She] came home the other day and we were in the kitchen and she goes, Are you famous??
?And Id never heard her? weve never said that word in our house,? she added. ?We dont talk about it.
Someone at school had clearly said it. I was like, Um ? not really, I dont think I am,? Blunt continued. ?Did someone say that to you, Haze? She said, Yeah, but then she wouldnt divulge much more, you know, but its weird. Its weird.?
Blunt noted that she doesn?t want her daughters to know about her or Krasinski?s fame because she doesn?t want them to feel any more important or special or [feel like] theres a glare on them any more than other kids.

Not being famous myself, I have to infer much here. I guess I can understand not wanting to talk at home about being famous. So if the Krasinski-Blunt home is a fame-free space for the family to act like normal folk, it makes sense why Emily and John want to avoid the topic. I also understand their justification about wanting the kids to avoid ?the glare,? be it negative or one that makes the girls feel superior. But they should probably prepare themselves. I?m surprised it hasn?t come up before now, what with Jack Ryan and Mary Poppins sitting at the dinner table. I get dressing up as characters and being famous are different concepts, but the connection will be drawn pretty quickly at Hazel?s age. I have no idea how I would answer that question if I was famous, but I don?t think I would be flabbergasted by it.
I like Emily a lot, as you know. I?m sure most of this interview is her English humor and self-deprecation coming out. But the interviewer asked Emily if she wanted her daughters to become actors and she said, ?God no ? no! Please God keep them off the stage. I never know how to react when actors respond this way. Do they hate their jobs that much? Are their kids too good for the profession? Have they been chewed up and spat out by the industry enough to want their child to avoid it at all costs? Surely that isn?t the promo they?re going for.

A Quiet Place 2 comes out next week. Do you plan to see it? I don?t know. I wanted to to see the first one (and did) but I?m not as jazzed about the sequel. I?m not a big thriller person so it could just be I reached my thriller threshold. However, a lot pf people are excited, and they had a fancy premiere in New York. So Emily Blunt and John Krasinski are both out promoting it. Emily was on Jimmy Kimmel Live on Tuesday. I like Emily in general but she and John used to live across the street from Jimmy so she?s particularly relaxed on his show. During the interview, we learned that we almost lost Emily to the land of pop music, but Dame Judi Dench intervened on pop musics behalf.
On Tuesday nights episode of Jimmy Kimmel Live, Emily Blunt revealed that she almost didnt become an actor. In fact, she told host Jimmy Kimmel that she wanted to be a pop star instead.
I could have been Britney [Spears], she joked, noting that her dreams were short-lived because of one minor detail. I realized I wasnt good at dancing and I didnt want to be Britney?I dont know.
I cant write. I cant really sing?no, Im just kidding, she continued. They said, ?I think you have a nice voice and I think that you could be a pop star. I said, ?I cant dance. They said, ?Dont worry about it. Well teach you. It didnt work. I tried to learn.
At the time, the Devil Wears Prada star was still pursuing acting and received some advice from one of her A-list co-stars that helped her make the right decision in the end.
I was doing a play?my first job was with Judi Dench?yeah, the Dame?which was incredible and she was wonderful to me, Emily recalled. And I went to her for advice because I was really, really nervous about this career that I didnt know was right for me?I didnt think was right for me?and she was like, ?Oh no, darling. You cant do both. You cant act and do that. She talked me out of it.

Anytime anyone quotes Judi Dench, I not only hear it in her voice, I project all her mannerisms on the quote as well. I could just see her tutting Emily, ?Oh no, darling. You cant do both.? I like Emily?s voice just fine but I couldn?t see her as a pop star. Maybe a folksy balladeer, but not bouncing around in a pig tails and thigh high platform boots. Dont get me wrong, I understand wanting to be a pop star, hell, *I* wanted to be a pop star. But believe me when I tell you youd rather chew on tinfoil then listen to me sing. I think Dame Judi led Emily down the right path for sure. Besides, what was Emily going to do, not listen to Dame Judi?
At the start of the interview, they discussed how Emily and John decided to do the sequel. Jimmy posed the question what would have happened if Emily had decided to pass, asking if John would have recast her, which is a really funny concept to me. How awkward would that be? Especially if the replacement got any kind of award recognition. Emily claimed John would?ve called Brie Larson. It?s a funny bit.
In the second half of the interview, Jimmy shows a pre-taped ?commercial? for A Quiet Plane, which is the idea of A Quiet Place but on a plane. It?s funnier in concept than execution but you can watch it here if you?d like.

Don?t hate me, but I never saw A Quiet Place. I never saw it because I?m a scaredy cat and it looked? unsettling and like there were a lot of tense jump-scares. And I can?t do those. So I?m happy that John Krasinski and Emily Blunt had so much success while working together, but I really have no frame of reference for the sequel, A Quiet Place II. From the trailers, I thought that the sequel was actually a prequel, and that the story was about how modern life ended and these monsters came around. But basically, what we?re seeing in the trailers are just flashbacks and there?s a real story of what happens after the story of the first film. Djimon Hounsou and Cillian Murphy have joined the cast as well.
Anyway, here are some photos of Emily Blunt and John Krasinski at last night?s New York premiere. This shade of red is certainly going around, isn?t it? It?s a very particular kind of orange-red which I?ve seen a lot over the past few weeks especially. Orange-red is definitely having a moment. Emily?s dress is Alexander McQueen she wears a lot of British designers, which I?ve always liked about her. This is? okay. It?s not the best thing I?ve seen on her, but it?s a solid look. What bugs me a little bit is that Emily looks more and more ?tweaked? every time I see her. I feel like there?s too much Botox happening here, as much as that pains me to say. John looks nice, but his Dolce & Gabbana suit is a bit TOO blue.
John also had some nice words for Emily as an actress, telling ET: ?She is without a doubt the most tremendous actress of our time in my opinion. That?s so nice coming from her husband, but is it true? I think she?s one of the most talented actresses of her generation, for sure.

Emily Blunts default style can be campy. Remember the crazy Dolce & Gabbana jacquard suit with the giant bowtie she wore to the Writers Guild Awards? So I guess Im expecting a little something more from her other than a sh-tton of gold sequins, but this is quite fun and I love those layered metallic flowers, which are very 60s and 70s. I think shes wearing just one false eyelash. Shes having a good time.
Tiffany Haddishs Michael Kors silver sequin leopard print bell bottom suit was just awesome. This is tacky and its campy. I didnt even recognize her with that blonde wavy hair. She showed the E! reporters the chicken she had in her purse because they dont have enough food for people. She was there last year so she knows. How do they not have enough food at that event? I dont get that at all. Do they put the food away early, like at the Golden Globes? Look at her posing like a boss.
