Selena Gomez revealed she has a crush for “Captain America.” “I kind of have a crush on Chris Evans. Isn’t he cute?” the “Good for You” singer asked host Andy Cohen, adding, “He’s very cute.” Saying that “this is the first time” she talks about it, Selena jokes, “He’s either going to hate me or love,” to which the host replies, “I think he’s going to love you!” and fellow guest Willie Geist adds, “I think he’ll be OK with it.

Here are some photos of Cate Blanchett at the BFI London Film Festival over the weekend. She had two big fashion looks, both of which were pretty flawless. The white gown is Alexander McQueen and the black velvet dress is Schiaparelli (look at the pockets OMG). You know what I enjoy? Blanchett has been doing nonstop press for several weeks but she never relied on just one designer. She wore McQueen, Armani, Proenza Schouler, Givenchy and several avant-garde designers that are lesser known. She really flexed her fashionista muscles this month and I?ve been enjoying it so much.
The black-velvet dress was for the LFF premiere of Truth. Cate wore the McQueen for the final night awards, which is where she was honored with a BFI Fellowship, handed to her by her friend Ian McKellen. The BFI Fellowship was sort of like a Best Actress Award for Cate, from what I can tell, which makes sense because she premiered her two major roles (Truth and Carol) at the London Film Festival. Which of these films will earn Cate her Oscar nomination this year? Will Truth end up taking a backseat to Carol? It could go either way.
Meanwhile, there?s a little scandal with Truth, the 60 Minutes-Memogate film. The film is based on Mary Mapes? memoir and as such, it is not sanctioned by CBS News or 60 Minutes (Mapes was sh-tcanned over the scandal). Apparently, CBS News is so pissed about the movie that they?re not even allowing Sony Pictures Classics to buy ad space during CBS programming! Variety reports that Sony Pictures Classics tried to buy ads during 60 Minutes, The Late Show and the CBS Evening News and they were turned down completely. Which seems like cutting off your nose to spite your face? I mean, the jig is up. We know there was a scandal. We know it involved CBS. We know there?s a film about the scandal.

Here are some photos from last night?s London Film Festival closing night premiere of Steve Jobs. I?m just doing photos of Kate Winslet and Michael Fassbender, if that?s alright. I like Danny Boyle but I don?t need to see photos of him, you know? Winslet has been gushing about Fassbender in interview after interview and I do think she?s got a little crush on him. He seemed happy enough to grab onto her for the red carpet, and it makes me realize that we?ve never seen him pose like this with a girlfriend, not even when he dates his costars. Kate?s dress is Alexander McQueen and it?s? a really boring navy dress.
Fassy has been saying words to promote the film, of course, but there?s something notably different this time around: Fassy is being cautious. He?s not complaining, he?s not making pronouncements about how he?s not going to campaign for an Oscar or any of that. He?s playing it very safe. Some assorted quotes:
Steve Jobs was flawed: “Steve Jobs tried to make products that are not poorly made, but maybe that was to make up for his own shortcomings. All of his energy goes into these products he’s creating, while his own life suffers.”
Fassy doesn?t see Jobs as cruel: “I played him with the utmost respect. I never tried to play him as a cruel person, but as somebody who was passionate about his vision. He pushed for the best, sometimes to the breaking point. But when you’re changing the world in such Teutonic kind of way, then maybe that’s what is required.”
The Jobs? family & their reactions: ?It did make me hesitate. I was worried about how their late father, husband and friend would be portrayed and that weighed on my conscience. There was a responsibility, for sure. But I have to get on with my job. I approached it with utmost respect for Jobs and his family and by no means did I set out to betray them. If they do see it, I hope they are not hurt by it because that’s not my intention.?

He says that part about the family because, as we know now, Steve Jobs? widow was calling up some of the big names in Hollywood and asking them/begging them not to play Jobs. She called Christian Bale and Leo DiCaprio specifically and asked them not to play Jobs, which is how Fassbender got the part in the first place ? he was easily the third or fourth choice. And now he?s being discussed as one of the leading contenders for the Best Actor Oscar. Just goes to show ya.

As we discussed on Friday, Angelina Jolie covers the November issue of Vogue Magazine. I didn?t call this at all, because I honestly forgot about By the Sea and I kind of thought it was such a small film that the Jolie-Pitts wouldn?t be promoting it that much. But even for a tiny little film that will only get a limited release, Angelina still scored a Vogue cover. This probably means she won?t get a Vanity Fair cover, or maybe they?re saving that for Brad for the December issue (you never know!). Now that I know the Jolie-Pitts are going big for By the Sea, I do wonder what other covers Angelina will do. Marie Claire? Elle? W Magazine?
Anyway, now that I?ve gotten a chance to really sit and enjoy the entire Vogue interview, I have additional thoughts. There?s a lot of cute stuff about the kids in there, like how Pax was really nervous to meet Aung San Suu Kyi, and how Angelina always refers to Zahara as ?Z? (some of Angelina?s friends and colleagues at the United Nations refer to Jolie as ?AJ? too). There?s a story about Angelina taking Shiloh to meet refugees and seeing her 9-year-old on the floor, taking her own notes as she met refuge kids. There?s stuff about how she came to write By the Sea, which is described as a tale of grief and bereavement. Jolie wrote it after her mother passed away in 2007. And of course there?s a lot about her humanitarian work, with most of the quotes coming from other people about how dedicated she is, how smart, how focused. And here?s a significant part about her future film projects, including some details about Cleopatra:
She has also been trying to develop a film about the Kenya-based wildlife conservationist Richard Leakey. Here, you see how the worlds she straddles offer her different routes to the same end. If the project doesn?t pan out, she says, ?I can work with Leakey and do just as much good.? And then there?s Cleopatra, based on Stacy Schiff?s 2010 history. It was the movie at the center of the scandal of the hacked Sony emails, in which it was described as a ?$180m ego bath? for Angelina. (?I was enraged,? says Eric Roth, the screenwriter on the project, ?but she has enough confidence that she didn?t engage in any of it.?) As Jolie Pitt says, ?It?s a hard one to get right. It needs to be about something other than sex and jewelry. She was a very complicated leader of a country.? She?s interested in Cleopatra as an astute politician, says Roth, in her humanity, how she relates to her children and the people of Egypt; you can see why Angelina would want this role.

While Angelina?s idea of Cleopatra sounds interesting and something that would be great-on-film, I still don?t think it should or will be made. Not after the Sony Hack. Not after all of the sh-t that was said. And I love that Angelina still isn?t saying a word about the Sony Hack emails. Bless her.
