Here are some photos of Gwyneth Paltrow at Friday evening?s Stand Up To Cancer event. Gwyneth executive-produced this year?s telecast, which was broadcast on all four networks on Friday. I didn?t watch it, but it?s a good cause and a lot of celebrities participated, including: Jon Hamm, Reese Witherspoon, Pierce Brosnan, Danny McBride, Mike Meyers and many, many more. As some of you mentioned in Friday?s Gwyneth post, Goop has signed on to a new film. Well, sort of. The film is called Secret In Their Eyes and it?s a remake of a popular Argentinian movie which won an Oscar for Best Foreign Film in 2010. Gwyneth has apparently taken a supporting role in the film. Guess who will play the lead? Julia Roberts!! OMG. It will be smug on all sides. It will be the battle of ?who annoys you the most?? I actually get annoyed by Julia and Gwyneth in different ways ? I can generally sit through Julia?s films and enjoy her as an actress, I just can?t stand her Julia shtick in real life. Gwyneth annoys me on-screen these days though, and as for how she is in real life? well, obviously, she?s a painful elitist, but I tend to think Julia is the bigger pain in the tuchus. The worst part of this whole story? Julia and Gwyneth get to work with the impossibly brilliant Chiwetel Ejiofor. Damn it!
And finally, Gwyneth?s latest Goop-letter is all about beds, bedding, relaxation and sleepy time. You can read her Goop-letter here. People are making fun of her because she actually writes up a step-by-step tutorial on how to make one?s bed. It is simply the ONLY way to make one?s bed if one if a high-class princess, I suppose. Except that she made no mention of hospital corners, which is the way my mom always taught me to use when making the bed. I still make hospital corners because I tend to thrash around until I?m comfortable and unless the flat sheet is properly tucked in, everything is in disarray. I suspect that makes me a peasant failure. You know what else makes me a peasant? During the summer months, I sleep on top of the covers. Like, my bed is made and I just sleep on top of everything, with a light throw in case I get cold. I wonder what Goop would say about that?

Here are some assorted photos from TIFF from the past few days. This is just a hodge-podge of fashion stuff which interested me. I apologize in advance if I?m not covering the actors you want to see! Let?s start with Reese Witherspoon in this great Dolce & Gabbana dress. This was last night at the TIFF premiere of The Good Lie. Reese has several films coming out this year, and it?s up for debate as to which one she?ll push for another Oscar nomination. It could be this one, The Good Lie. Anyway, I like this a lot. Reese always looks great in jewel tones.
Chloe Grace Moretz at the premiere of The Equalizer. Her dress is Christian Dior Spring 2014. Chloe has been wearing a lot of Dior recently. It feels like she wants to be taken very seriously as a fashion girl, but? I don?t know, I?m not that jazzed about her reliance on Dior.
Eddie Redmayne is pretty much the only guy who can pull off this suit. I love him.
Jessica Chastain flew to TIFF right after Deauville! She was there to promote Miss Julie. The black-and-white dress is Dior. It?s nice, but I?d like to see her in a bright color.
Naomi Watts has been all over the place at TIFF. Here?s her look at the St. Vincent premiere ? this jumpsuit is Stella McCartney and I surprisingly don?t hate it.
The fashion ID on this one is a little screwy, but I think this dress is Antonio Berardi. Great color. Not crazy about the design. Naomi?s pretty ageless though, right? Her face looks amazing.
And here?s Kristin Wiig in Suno. Eh. I think Kristin really wants to be a fashion girl and I?m not sure this dress gets her there.

These are photos of Jennifer Garner at the Toronto Film Festival over the weekend promoting her new movie, with Adam Sandler, Men, Women and Children. The black dress with the side fishnet panels is what she wore to the premiere, it’s Stella McCartney. She’s wearing the eggplant colored dress at a press conference, that’s Proenza Schouler. The dresses are somewhat plain but I like her styling. She looks sexay with all that hair, I’m sure there are a lot of extensions in there but they look good. She’s also shown fresh-faced at the airport.
I just watched the trailer for the film and I think it explores how technology is changing us into secretive, sneaky people or bring out that aspect of our humanity or something. It’s hard to tell what the movie is about exactly. Men, Women and Children is directed and written by Jason Reitman (Up in The Air, Juno) so it could be decent.
In an interview with E! (video here), Garner fielded questions about technology and about her husband, Ben Affleck, getting in wicked good shape to play Battfleck. Her answers were kind of funny, and I like that she admitted she’s not sure what to do as a mom.
In real life, Garner, 42, and Ben Affleck, 42, are parents to daughters Violet Affleck, 8, Seraphina Affleck, 5, and son Samuel Affleck, 2. How do they know when to let their kids start using technology?’
“It’s all such a constant conversation, isn’t it?” Garner marveled. “I think we’re all as a society figuring out what’s appropriate. I mean, we can’t keep in front of what our kids are learning or seeing or using, technology-wise. It’s happening before we can even…We’re all running to catch up, us stupid grown-ups! Thank goodness my kids are little enough that they’re far from having phones or iPads or anything.”
Giddings noted that it was much different when he was growing up, and Garner agreed with that notion. “Maybe you got your hands on a Playboy at some point and you were like, ‘Wow!’” the actress joked.
But back to Affleck!
The actor beefed up for his role in Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice, which has been shooting in the Detroit area all summer. Anna Faris recently said she preferred Chris Pratt before he gained muscle for Guardians of the Galaxy, but Garner said she has no preference when it comes to her hubby’s physique.
“He was in crazy shape for The Town,” she said, referring to the film Affleck co-wrote and directed. “I’ve seen him kind of in every different variation, so I’ll take him however I can get him! But as long as this is the guy I’m married to, I’m kind of like, ‘Wow! That’s crazy!’ He looks insane. He’s worked really hard.”
“If he happened to go back to being a normal human, I’d be fine with that, too,” she added.
Men, Women & Children is in limited release Oct. 3 and opens nationwide Oct. 17.

I don’t agree that you can’t necessarily keep in front of what your kids learn and see. NetNanny. Use it. Don’t let your kids use a computer or tablet when you’re not in the same room unless you have parental controls set on it. Check their internet history. If you take preventative measures and talk to your kids, you can make it harder for them to see anything inappropriate. In general my son is ahead of me with technology, though, I know what she means.
I also wonder if she means her kids don’t use iPads or if they personally don’t have their own. We have two iPads, a 1 and a 2, and technically they’re mine but my son uses them. He also uses my phone. I have seen photos of both Garner and Affleck with iPads so I bet their kids use them and they supervise them. That’s different than not letting them use technology at all.

These are photos of Shia Labeouf on Saturday with Los Angeles. Shia wears workout gear as his girlfriend, Mia Goth, wears her usual crop top and skinny jeans. Our photo agencies say Shia ran the Los Angeles marathon that morning. Maybe he ran a marathon, but it wasn’t the official LA Marathon (that’s on Oct. 1). Was it another marathon? Who knows. Most of them happen on Sundays (with one exception being Utah Valley, which caters to the surrounding religious community). Maybe Shia ran a different race distance. He did the LA Marathon in 2010. Perhaps he’s gearing up for a return.
You may notice how Shia is looking particularly colorful. This is not his usual style. I’m sort of mesmerized by the sea green and purple ensemble he’s chosen. Those blue and Pink Nike shoes look like the women’s variety. Are they? I’m not judging too much. I wear men’s running shoes because they last longer and usually aren’t neon. Shia’s outfit is unexpected to say the least. He looks healthy here. Grubby, but healthy. His outfit may be an eyesore, but at least he’s not disturbing Broadway or taking a leak in public.
Shia’s working hard to repair his image. He’s often spotted carrying the Big Blue AA book or simply doing domestic things with Mia. He gets papped a lot, mostly because the photogs are waiting to catch an outburst on camera. Dude loves to wear his Fury boots, which is interesting because (so far) he’s been absent from the film’s promotion.
