Jessica Simpson has had an infamously bumbling country music career. She was described as ?lost and desperate? on stage by one critic, has had to perform at venues like chili cook offs, nearly slipped a nip at the Grand Ole Opry, had a meltdown during a concert, and we won?t even touch on the national controversy that surrounded her weight and an ill-fitting outfit.
It?s safe to say that what little attention has actually been focused on Simpson?s country music career hasn?t been great. And she?s garnered much more press for her mistakes than anything else. Now it looks like Jess might have been dropped by her music label.
One of our readers sent me some very interesting emails today. He has been doing some ?tattle tale? investigation work and it seems that Jessica Simpson is nowhere to be found on any of her record label websites.
If you remember - back in December - we told you that rumors were flying that Joe Galante, the head of Sony BMG Nashville was furious with all of her antics. They were threatening to drop her from the label. Could these rumors finally becoming true after her shaking tour with Rascal Flatts? Our reader noticed the following:
Today, her name appears nowhere among the artists listed on the web sites of Columbia Nashville or Sony Music Nashville. Even a search of each site finds that any prior mention of her photos, profile, press releases - has apparently been purged:
You can still find old press releases in the Google cache, but they do not exist at Columbia Nashville or Sony BMG Nashville?s web sites. For example, this used to be the URL for her artist page. As you can see, it errors out, because she?s been removed from the database. There?s no reason to do that unless she?s been dropped from the label.

This is obviously just a rumor, though it?s not a surprising one. Jessica just hasn?t been doing well with country music, especially in terms of her live performances. I admire her for being gutsy enough to completely switch genres. But it seemed more like it was a business move than done due to a love of country music. She said she knew she?d never be number one, or even number five, in pop music. So she switched. And let?s be honest, that?s a hard change to make. Country musicians can go pop easier than the other way around. I wouldn?t be surprised if Simpson was dropped by her label ? and goes straight back to pop.
Update: Jessica’s rep has confirmed that she has indeed been dropped by her record label.

Long ago, during a more innocent time, Scarlett Johansson claimed she?d never dieted or gone to the gym. And by ?long ago,? I mean February. A lot of things have changed in two months, because not only has Scarlett lost a good deal of weight (and curves) since then, but according to Star (via The Sun), she?s done it with diet and exercise.
I think most folk will agree Scarlett Johansson’s curvy figure is a winner. So it comes as a disappointment to learn the bubbly blonde’s famous assets may disappear after being put on a strict diet by Gwyneth Paltrow.
The actress has reportedly lost over 14lbs since she began working out with her Iron Man 2 co-star in preparation for the movie. A source told Star magazine: ?The pair have been doing daily workouts with Gwyneth?s personal trainer TRACY ANDERSON.
“Scarlett is also staying away from carbohydrates.? The 24-year-old actress decided to diet, reportedly fearing she could lose out on the roles she wants to younger, more attractive actresses.
A friend said: ?Scarlett has always been happy with her curves, but recently she has been feeling pressure to lose a few pounds. She knows that she is up against tough competition from younger, prettier and increasingly skinner actresses.?
Scarlett previously insisted she loved her fuller figure and felt no pressure to diet. She said: ?I don?t need to be skinny to be sexy.?

What a bummer. For a lot of reasons. First being that Tracy Anderson?s diets are extremely unhealthy, and dangerous. In some cases she advocates eating less than 800 calories a day and exercising for two hours. She?s also a renowned scam artist , who has somehow gained a bit of legitimacy just by training Gwyneth Paltrow and Madonna.
I really respected Scarlett for having a sensible approach to her body. And it was freaking perfect ? so why shouldn?t she? If it ain?t broke, don?t fix it. Certainly don’t go down such an unhealthy path to do it.

“Charlie’s Angels” icon Farrah Fawcett was hospitalized over the weekend, which prompted speculation that her long battle with anal cancer had taken a turn for the worse. Farrah’s rep confirmed that the star’s cancer has indeed spread to her liver and she was admitted to the hospital to be treated for complications. Reports say that Farrah has been visited by her longtime love, Ryan O’Neil, as well as former “Angels” co-stars Jaclyn Smith and Kate Jackson. One person who won’t be able to visit her is her son, Redmond - he was arrested on Sunday for narcotics possession. Again.
Farrah Fawcett is being treated for anal cancer that has spread to her liver and has been hospitalized for a complication from a routine treatment, a producer who worked with the actress and her doctor said Monday.
In separate phone interviews with The Associated Press, Fawcett’s producer and her doctor said that Fawcett is in a Los Angeles hospital, recovering from complications from a medical procedure in Germany, and is “not on death’s door,” as the producer put it.
“She had a minor procedure. That procedure led to a small amount of bleeding into a muscle in her abdominal wall,” which created a hematoma _ a sac of blood that caused pressure and pain, said her Los Angeles cancer specialist, Dr. Lawrence Piro. It was “a simple procedure” and a standard one, although Fawcett has also pursued experimental treatments in Germany, he added.
“She’s on the mend and will be going home very shortly,” said her producer, Craig Nevius. “She’s doing fantastic. Her fight goes on. … She’s not going anywhere anytime soon.”
However, confirmation that the cancer had spread to such a distant site was dire news. The 62-year-old “Charlie’s Angels” star was diagnosed with anal cancer in 2006, and originally was treated at The Ronald Reagan UCLA Medical Center with chemotherapy and radiation _ not surgery as some have reported, Nevius said.
She was declared in remission on Feb 2, 2007, but three months later, scans showed “not only had it recurred, it metastasized to her liver,” Nevius said.
The latest treatment in Germany tried to address the cancer’s spread to that organ, he said.
Nevius would not say where in Germany she was being treated, just that it was a clinic affiliated with some hospitals. He also would not give details on her treatments there, but said media reports that she was getting stem cell treatments were false.
“It’s never had anything to do with stem cells,” or alternative treatments such as shark cartilage, coffee enemas or unproven “detoxification” diets, Nevius said.
“It’s much more scientific than that. It’s not a fringe treatment,” he said, and the doctors have “multiple, multiple degrees.”
An upcoming documentary on which Fawcett has worked for several years, “A Wing and a Prayer,” co-produced with Nevius and others, will air on NBC soon and give details, he said.
After the procedure in Germany, Piro said Fawcett flew back to Los Angeles because she was eager to go home. In a statement released earlier, Piro said Fawcett was using a wheelchair because it was painful for her to walk. “That pain, which was coming from the hematoma, had nothing directly to do with the cancer,” Piro said.
“She remains in good spirits with her usual sense of humor,” he added. “She’s been in great shape her whole life and has an incredible resolve and an incredible resilience.”
Nevius said Fawcett is expected to leave the hospital in a few days. He said her support system includes former partner Ryan O’Neal, her father and “Charlie’s Angels” co-stars Kate Jackson and Jaclyn Smith.
“Let me tell you what she’s not,” Nevius said. “As previously reported by everybody, she’s not unconscious. She is not on death’s door. The family has not gathered to say goodbye.”
Anal cancer is relatively uncommon, but occurs a little more often in women than men. An estimated 5,070 cases were diagnosed in the United States last year, leading to about 680 deaths, according to the American Cancer Society.
Meanwhile, Redmond O’Neal, Fawcett’s son with Ryan O’Neal, was arrested Sunday on suspicion of bringing narcotics into a jail facility and was being held on $25,000 bail.
A deputy at a jail in Castaic, north of Los Angeles, was doing a security sweep of the jail’s parking lot when he stopped the 24-year-old, who acknowledged he was carrying drugs and was apparently at the jail giving a ride to a friend, Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department spokesman Steve Whitmore said.

I’m glad to hear that it’s not as dire as originally reported. I hope Farrah pulls through and it able to go home soon - so she can open a can of whup-ass on that punk son of hers! Sounds like he could use some serious parental intervention right about now, and it doesn’t appear that Ryan O’Neil is capable of doing it. Poor Farrah.

Carrie Underwood won Entertainer of the Year at the American Country music awards this past weekend. It was a big deal because she?s only the 7th woman to have received the award in the show?s 42 year history. Being that she was understandably in shock, Underwood admits she practically blacked out, and doesn?t remember what she said. She made the slightest, most inoffensive (in my opinion) dirty joke ever, relating to a story Matthew McConaughey told as he was presenting the award. Everyone laughed at the time, but apparently it caused enough of a scandal that Underwood had to apologize to McConaughey ? and her family.
Carrie Underwood was overwhelmed to have won “Entertainer of the Year” at the American Country Music Awards on Sunday night, but the moment did turn a little mortifying when she made a sexual reference joke to wanting to see Matthew McConaughey’s “boots” in her acceptance speech.
The Texas-born actor presented Underwood with the big award, but before his official duties he entertained the audience with a story on how he and his brother once took a road trip thru Texas to see Dwight Yoakam perform. While there the brothers tried to “pick up” a few ladies by telling them that they made a livin’ exclusively custom-making George Strait’s boots.
“We’re like, ‘Oh yeah. Say, as I a matter of fact, out in the parking lot, in the trunk of our white Corvette, we have the next year’s new edition white ostrich quill George Strait signed series that he’s gonna wear on tour next year.’ And they got pretty excited about that and said, ‘Well, can we see? Can we see? Can we see?’” McConaughey told the audience. “And we obliged … Point of the story is, we got lucky that night. Thank you, George.”
After taking the trophy from McConaughey, a tearful Underwood caused jaws to drop when she said: “I don’t know what to say. I got nothin’ … I want to see those boots, Matthew.” (The audience erupted into laughter but somehow we don’t think his leading lady, Camila Alves, was so amused). And clearly, Carrie regretted the spur-of-the-moment sexual advance.
“I’m so embarrassed, I totally embarrassed myself. I just blanked,” Underwood told Tarts backstage, burying her head in her hands. “You want to say something eloquent in a moment like that and I embarrassed myself. I’m sorry Matthew, I’m sorry to my family. I’m totally embarrassed.” She even admitted that she “blacked out” after hearing her name called and couldn’t remember much between making it from her seat to the stage and then to the press room.

Was that joke fairly benign or am I just jaded and disgusting? I wouldn’t bat an eyelash. While I don?t think any of it was out of line, if I were forced to call fault on someone here I?d say it was Matthew?s story, not Carrie?s little response to it. Country music fans must just have a better sense of propriety than I do. Not that it?d take much.
I understand Carrie?s near-blacking out from surprise. I do the same thing whenever I?m in shock. Or whenever someone kisses me. Probably because I?m in shock. I cannot imagine the stupid, useless crap that I would utter in that situation. Really, Underwood might be a little embarrassed, but it could have been a lot worse. Some vaguely dirty joke about sex and boots isn?t all that terrible.

Readers noted that all mention of Simpson had been removed from their website. He is very upset.”

I get the feeling that Jennifer Love Hewitt doesn’t take very long to get over any man. Someone like her has a whole line of dudes waiting to be her next boyfriend. I don’t know what happened between her and Ross, but he must have known that before he broke up with her. Why would he be surprised now? If there is any lingering question about whether or not Jennifer and Jamie hooked up on-set before she and Ross broke up, it won’t matter soon enough. There’s no way this romance is going to last! I had the misfortune of meeting Jamie one evening after seeing his excruciatingly unfunny stand-up act. He had a gaggle of young skanks following him all around and he was loving every minute of it. Jennifer’s hot - but I doubt he’d give that lifestyle up for long, even for her.

And then she offers a few little crumbs. The crumbs come from the UK?s OK! Magazine, and the quotes are directly attributed to Angelina, not from some mysterious ?source?. It could be a made-up interview, but probably not.
In the mini-interview, Angelina just talks about how happy she is. She says she feels ?more fulfilled? than ever, and she and Brad always find time to ?collapse? on the sofa. Oh my God, ?Angelina Collapses?! That?s the headline, right? Actually, what?s interesting is that OK! is claiming that Angelina is 28 years old. Not so much. She?s 33.

The actress, who is raising six children with Brad Pitt, loves the way her life has changed since becoming a mother.

Madonna and her daughter Lourdes are both said to be devastated by a judge?s ruling that she can?t adopt 4-year-old Mercy James from Malawi. Though it?s hard to see Madge as someone with emotions and who?s capable of feeling real sadness, she?s obviously going through a hard time right now, and told her aids that what happened wasn?t right. I?m not sure I can say I feel as much empathy for her as I probably should, but it?s hard not to feel badly for Lourdes and the rest of Madonna?s kids, along with little Mercy ? who was said to have bonded with what she thought would be her new family.
Madonna devastated after officials blocked her adoption of a 3-year-old girl from Malawi, telling aides, “it’s not right.” The Material Girl, who is now back in London, even referred to Chifundo (Mercy) James as “my little girl” before heading home, Australia’s Herald Sun newspaper reports.
“I can’t believe I’m leaving my beautiful baby behind,” she said. “It’s not right. I love that baby girl … she needs to be with me.” Madonna’s daughter Lourdes was reportedly heartbroken that her mom was barred from the adoption. The 50-year-old pop icon looked downcast after spending her final hours with Mercy, the child a judge blocked her from adopting last week, before jetting out of the country.
“Madonna spent some time with Mercy; she looked sad. But Lourdes, who had clicked with the little girl, looked devastated,” a staffer at the Kumbali Lodge where Madonna had been staying, told People magazine. Anne Chikhwaza, director of the Kondanani Children’s Village, took the girl back to the orphanage, the staffer said.

Mercy?s emotions must have bounced all over the place in the last week. This whole ordeal has likely been incredibly confusing for her. I can?t imagine what it would be like to be told you have a new family and to spend time with them and probably get excited like only a little child can. And then have it all suddenly taken away. That?s not to say the judge was wrong ? perhaps what is ultimately best for Mercy is to stay in her own country and/or be adopted by someone willing to obey the laws and live in Malawi for a year. But what an emotional rollercoaster.
Something tells me Madonna will get over this. While she?s upset now, she doesn?t strike me as the sort to feel things super deeply for an extended period of time. It?s hard not to cheer for her failure, because it?s downright wrong for her to ignore another country?s laws and think she can do whatever the hell she wants, so long as she can throw money at the problem. Maybe next time she?ll remember that it?s not just her own wishes that matter ? she?s taking a bunch of kids along for the ride, and their feelings matter too.

Even though Marc and Posh still seemed to have a professional and personal friendship, word around the street was that Marc was looking for a new face. He may have found his new muse with Anne Hathaway.
Victoria Beckham may have been replaced in the affections of one of the men in her life. Fortunately it is not her husband David, but her friend and designer Marc Jacobs who is on the look out for a new leading lady. Jacobs unveiled Beckham as the face of his eponymous line in 2008 but, with the former Spice Girl focusing on her own design collection, he is reportedly courting a younger woman; actress Anne Hathaway.
Hathaway appeared last week in Beverley Hills to present Italian design legend Valentino with his Walk of Style award. The young actress was nominated for a Best Actress award at this year’s Oscars and was highly acclaimed for her role in 2005’s Brokeback Mountain, but latterly her red carpet appearances have stolen the headlines.
“Marc and Anne have forged a fast but very intense friendship,” a friend of the star revealed to the Mail on Sunday. “They’re going to start doing public appearances together soon.”
“Anne hasn’t signed up to do any advertising yet but, by dressing her, Marc can infuse his line with a fresh but famous face and Anne can revamp her image,” the source continued. “If it works well, Anne would be happy to model for some of Marc’s campaigns.”

Just yesterday, Lindsay Lohan was blaming the paparazzi and Ronson family members for making her boyfriend Samantha Ronson change all her locks. She kept saying this while she couldn’t get into Sam’s house. Well, it finally sunk in and now Lindsay Lohan tells E! that she and Ronson have broken up. Lindsay, still fooling herself, is calling it a “brief break so I can focus on myself.”
Ronson, however, was looking to file a restraining order against Lohan as early as Monday evening. OK! says Sam’s mother and sister were at the police department asking about TRO’s to “send a message” to Lindsay.
The Ronsons spoke openly to the officer about their situation. “She does these things to get attention,” said Charlotte of Lohan?s recent actions. “She was trying to get into my party this weekend. We had to tell security to keep her out. Then she booked a room at the Chateau Marmont. Her room was right below… She also followed our brother Mark around.”
“[Lindsay] was doing drugs,” added Ann. “And we could not sleep that night at the Chateau. She was complaining about the music and noise coming from upstairs. She was trying to get attention, so that Sam could come down.?
?She cuts herself too,? Ann continued. ?She is a cutter!?
?She got up illegally to our room,” Charlotte told the policeman. “She does these acts of public humiliation. It is all for attention… She was also got physical with Mark.”
When this restraining order gets filed, Lindsay will probably go, “It’s cool. It’s cool. Sam and I are just seeing if we’re able to have a long distance relationship. This is just a test of our love.” Meanwhile, 500 yards away, Sam will be buying a gun.

This will be the last season of The Hills for Lauren Conrad and she’s already finished filming the small stuff, an accomplishment she celebrated at Beso last month. All she needed to do now was film the major stuff that takes up 90% of the show. This could be done in a small room with just her and a camera.
?The producers would make Lauren react to a lot of potential scenarios, because they?re not yet sure how the finale will play out with the other characters,? says our source. ?They would literally give her directions like, ?Now react to Stephanie Pratt being pregnant!? Lauren would just giggle and go for it. She also had to pretend to react to a fake story line about Audrina and Brody hooking up.?
A rep for MTV, who probably has never seen an episode of The Hills, denies this and says it would be impossible to cut a show off of pre-taped reactions. Kidding aside, the rep has a point. They need five takes for Lauren Conrad and Audrina Patridge to eat a salad and five takes for them to walk and talk at the same time without tripping over their feet. Most people don’t know that The Hills is actually filmed two years in advance because of the amount of time it takes them to get a good shot of Lauren acting surprised. She always gets that emotion confused with constipated.

Ashton Kutcher and Katherine Heigl are currently filming a scene for their upcoming movie, “Five Killers,” in St. Barts. Which is lucky for us, since Ashton has to do a lot of shooting without his shirt on. According to IMDB, the film is about a ?vacationing woman [who] meets her ideal man, leading to a swift marriage. Back at home, however, their idyllic life is upset when they discover their neighbors could be assassins who have been contracted to kill the couple.? So you know, one of those ?it could happen to anyone? type of films. Ashton plays a retired hit man ? again, who amongst us hasn?t accidentally dated one of those? Nonetheless, the important thing is that he has to run around without his shirt on? and carrying flippers. Hotness.

April 25th is World Malaria Day, for which he?s become the unofficial spokesman. Ashton is getting a jump start on things and using his Twitter account to send out all sort of Tweets linking to Malaria No More, an organization that donates mosquito nets to those who cannot afford them in African countries.

“We are taking a brief break so I can focus on myself.”
A “brief break,” was it? Because the way I remember it, Samantha changed the locks and physically barred you from attending any of her gigs. If that’s the case, then my robbing a pharmacy at gunpoint must just be a “brief break from the laws of civilized society” and my arsenal of prescription drugs must a “brief break from the constraints of reality.” Too bad the American penal system doesn’t see it your way, Lindsay.

We knew it would end someday. And we knew it would end with epic drama. Perhaps because the year that Samantha Ronson and Lindsay Lohan spent together was the most dramatic, melodramatic, crazy, enabling, tabloid-friendly, screwed up relationship in a while, it had to end. Now Lindsay Lohan is confirming to E! that the party is indeed over. But in Lindsay?s words, ?We are taking a brief break so I can focus on myself.? Oh, Lindsay, who are you kidding? It was always about you.
I?m actually surprised at the ?reasons? for the split, as various friends and family members dole out their strategic leaks to the press. People in Lohan?s camp are saying that Ronson?s friends and family basically did a Lohan intervention with her, ?smearing? Lindsay to Sam. Ronson?s camp is saying… well, they seem to be hinting at the idea that Sam was definitely the dumper, and that Lohan is crazy. Here?s the E! report:
She was shunned from the party and locked out of her love nest. Now, Lindsay Lohan exclusively tells E! News that reports of her breakup with Samantha Ronson are true: “We are taking a brief break so I can focus on myself.”
The decision was made Monday morning following a rather rough weekend. First, the 22-year-old was barred entry from a Ronson family party on Friday. Then a locksmith was seen paying a house call to Ronson’s abode, where Lohan had resided in recent months.
Still, as of Sunday, insiders insisted the pair had not broken up and blamed the latest drama on Ronson’s family members, who were supposedly engaged in a “smear campaign” to convince the DJ that Lohan was “an outcast and a bully, or a wacko.”
The couple’s tempestuous relationship dates back nearly a year (they reportedly celebrated their anniversary in January) and has survived constant rumors of rifts and splits that often proved false.
In fact, just last week, both Lohan and 31-year-old Ronson were refuting the latest round of breakup speculation.
While Lohan is said to be struggling with the breakup and holding out hope the two will get back together, Ronson seems in a better place, writing on her MySpace page that “aura in pleasanton is very pleasant.”
As for what’s next for the newly single Lohan? She is logging time with her family in L.A. and, as she recently told E! News, on the hunt for more acting work.

People Magazine, on the other hand, has a decidedly anti-Lohan vibe. They?re reporting suggests that Sam is getting unconditional support from friends following the split. There?s also this funny quote, from a source close to the couple: ?Lindsay is going to try and twist the situation in her favor, but Sam clearly left her, not the other way around.? Yikes:
“Sam’s family has made her swear that it’s really over,” a friend of Lohan and Ronson’s tells PEOPLE. “They are giving her all the support they can to keep her away from Lindsay.”
Adds another source close to Ronson: “Lindsay is going to try and twist the situation in her favor, but Sam clearly left her, not the other way around.”
Meanwhile, Lohan has reportedly written several messages on her private Twitter page alleging Ronson’s infidelity and drug use led to their breakup. In one message, the actress wrote, “You broke my heart. Now go away. I loved you.”
The on-again off-again pair have not been spotted publicly together in recent days, while Lohan has been a fixture on the L.A. scene, stopping into Chateau Marmont with her sister Ali on April 1, and even jumping on stage to sing along with Lily Allen during the British pop star’s concert the following night at the Wiltern.
Over the weekend, Ronson changed the locks on her house, a friend of the pair confirms. “Sam changed the locks on her house,” the source tells PEOPLE. “Lindsay moved her stuff out as much as she could. She’s basically totally out of the house as far as her stuff and she’s not living there anymore.”
Adds the source: “Lindsay was pretty devastated.”

Was it ever about love? Or was it just about the drama, the drugs, the attention? The attention would be my guess. Lindsay?s great love affair is with the media and her own self-perpetuating public drama. Even though I hoped all of this wouldn?t end badly, I didn?t think Sam would have the cajones to just up and change the locks on Lohan. At the end of day, Sam must be a lot less crazy than I suspected.

Paris Hilton has been with Doug Reinhardt of The Hills for maybe a few weeks, tops, and she’s already blabbing about how she’s going to marry the reality star. Paris met Doug’s mom in a photo op last month, and as Sam pointed out, the woman looked exactly like you would expect Paris to look in 20 years - trashy with money. Now Paris has told E! Online that Doug is her future husband. No word on an engagement, though:
At last night’s I Heart Ronson for JCPenney party, Paris Hilton and Doug Reinhardt couldn’t stop talking about their love for each other.
“We’re best friends,” Paris told me. “It’s not like we just met. We’ve known each other over the past year. I was in a relationship before and we reconnected. I’m really in love and really happy.”
As for the rumors that the two are engaged, it hasn’t happened yet, but it seems to be in the future for the two. “You never know,” Doug said. “He’s going to be my husband,” Paris giggled.

Doug previously said that he plans to have children with Paris, and that “she?s my Angel Princess. I?d love to have some mini Parises one day.” These two seem to be just about the same speed intellectually.
This isn’t the first time Paris has enthused to the media about her boyfriend-of-the-moment and talked about their happily-ever-after plans. She similarly gushed about Benji Madden in the early stages of their relationship, telling David Letterman on his show “I?m so happy, I?m so in love, and I know I want to spend the rest of my life [with him.] I know I want to be with him forever.” Paris and Benji lasted all of nine months, which seemed like some sort of record for Paris. I bet she and Doug don’t last through the summer, though. Once things don’t go Paris’ way she bails. Boyfriends are like puppies to her, she collects them and brings them to events until she gets distracted by another cute one.

Even Paris Hilton was let into Ronson’s I heart Ronson for JCPenny party. That’s sad, Lindsay. Anyway, there we learned that Paris wants to marry Doug Reinhardt. She professed “He’s going to be my husband.” Doug simply said, “You never know.” Meaning, her dopey ass will be single in about a month.
Of course, no one takes this seriously. Paris is a revolving door for men. The only people that haven’t been in her tattered vagina probably don’t live within a fifty mile radius of her. Not only that, Paris thinks love is when a guy finishes in her mouth instead of on her face on the first date. Some would say she’s been in love with half of LA.
