There has been widespread controversy over the Russian government?s anti-gay disposition, and Rihanna refuses to stay silent on the matter.
The ?We Found Love? singer Instagrammed a photo in which she?s wearing a P6 hat from the Principle 6 clothing campaign, thus showing her support for the homosexual community.
Principle 6 is a reference to a section of the Olympic Charter that explicitly prohibits any discrimination against athletes. It states, ?The practice of sport is a human right.?
Russia currently has an ?anti-gay propaganda? law that violates the Olympic Charter, though the International Olympic Committee still chose Sochi as the site of the 2014 Winter Games.

Be amazed by how the music still plays despite her not touching any of the controls on the mixer unless for a photo op. Considering how anything she touches turns to crap, it was probably a good idea since the USB drive stuck in there with music she didn’t produce would have probably exploded somehow.

Here is Miley Cyrus sticking out her tongue while kicking off her Bangerz Tour at Pepsi Live at Rogers Arena in Vancouver, Canada.
Cyrus made her grand entrance by descending a massive slide shaped like her tongue from a huge projection of her own face on the set backdrop. From then on, she jumped into a set that drew predominantly from last year’s “Bangerz,” but also included a few hits from her pre-ratchet days. There were also covers of Dolly Patron’s classic “Jolene” and Outkast’s “Hey Ya.”

Uma Thurman wore a basic navy Atelier Versace dress to the BAFTAs last night. This dress was a disappointment but better than many of Uma’s recent choices. I liked the little matching jacket (with a train!) that Uma wore when she entered the scene. She owned that jacket like a boss. The way she walked showed off some serious leg. Then Uma removed the outer layer, and the dress fell apart. That sounds mean, right?
Overall, this is not a bad dress, but the shape is quite dull. From the front view and without the jacket, there’s nothing about this look that takes my breath away. Poor Uma. I watched Kill Bill: Vol. 1 over the weekend (which is not even a good example of Uma’s prettiness), and she was breathtaking in that film. Now she can’t move her face. Something nice: that diamond necklace is amazing.
Olga Kurylenko looked like a total knockout in Burberry. I’m so glad she’s able to quickly shed the stigma of being a female sidekick of Tom Cruise. Olga’s dress is a mixed bag. Slinky on the bottom, sophisticated on top, and weird in the middle. I could have done without the peek-a-boo tummy feature, but the contrast of the black fabric with the red-and-orange scales on the bottom makes for major drama. Her hair is to die for, and she is so gorgeous.
Gillian Anderson chose a vintage Balmain Couture. Or rather, the Balmain Couture chose Gillian. This is a whole lotta dress for such a tiny woman. The color palette (very nautical) is interesting, and the back tie looks like a ship sail. Up close, the fabric looks like crepe paper. Gillian could have smouldered but instead, she’s going boating.
Josephine de la Baume wore a royal blue Marios Schwab dress with sheer sleeves. I’m okay on this dress but it feels more appropriate for a premiere than an awards show. For what it’s worth, the runway version was almost completely sheer.

Maggie Gyllenhaal walked the red carpet last night in her own version of BAFTAS: The Frumpening. Where do I start with this dress? Maggie is wearing Lanvin, which custom-made this gown just for the occasion. They really needn’t have bothered. Maggie would have been better with something simple off the rack.She’s a very pretty woman who possesses the ability to really glow. You’ve seen The Secretary, right? Maggie is an excellent actress, but she sure cannot style herself, and Lanvin seems perfectly happy with indulging her bizarro whims.
Let’s start with the color of this gown, blue-violet, which is lovely and rich. The fabric is lace with grosgrain embroidery and topped with sheer sleeves. All of that would have been plenty enough. Then Lanvin completely bedazzled it with assorted jewels, fake pearls, and embellishments. Maggie’s pixie haircut also somehow contributes to the overload, which seems like a paradox. I can’t say a single nice thing about this look, which makes me sad. Her coat (in the gallery) is even worse than the dress.
Fearne Cotton is usually a right mess on the red carpet. She did not disappoint in this full-on, ultra-embellished Scaasi dress. There is a place in the fashion world for bold metallics, and that place is not on Fearne Cotton. So much gold, and so much hair. Fearne has been on a big hair kick lately. This whole look! Too much.
Joely Richardson wore William Vintage Bob Mackie. I don’t know what’s going on here. The orange dress is fine by itself, but then the gigantic embellished sun ruins everything. Was she going for something similar to this McQueen dress that Elizabeth Banks wore to a Catching Fire premiere? Who knows. This dress is from 1878, and it sure looks like it.
Lea Seydoux wore this awful Miu Miu dress that made her look like a Vegas showgirl on the red carpet. Bedazzled boobs and exposed gams. I would have liked to have seen her in a more classic silhouette without all of the pomp and circumstance.

Quite honestly, I can?t get enough of these Brangelina BAFTA photos. I think Angelina Jolie is just the kind of woman who likes to bang her men in the limo on the way to a red carpet, because that?s exactly what it looks like in these photos. Brad and Angelina look post-coital, like he untied her as soon as they got into the limo and maybe there was a beej involved too. Damn.
Anyway, Angelina wore Saint Laurent. She?s been wearing a lot of Saint Laurent over the past year? I wonder what that?s about? I don?t know if the ?untied bow tie? detail was part of the original runway look for Saint Laurent, or if Angelina just decided to style it this way, but it?s a great look. Angelina almost always kills it when she does a tailored menswear-inspired look ? she?s one of those woman who can work the hell out of a great suit. Angelina?s earrings are Tiffay?s and she?s wearing her ginormous engagement ring too. Brad?s suit is Valentino? interesting. Usually he?s ride-or-die for Tom Ford.
Brad won too… 12 Years a Slave picked up Best Picture (and Chiwetel Ejiofor won Best Actor too).
I?m so happy that Brad and Angelina did the BAFTA red carpet! I hope there are more appearances and red carpets to come. I mean, obviously I want them to do the Oscar red carpet too, but I want to see more of them leading up the Oscars.

As I mentioned in the BAFTA wrap-up post, Cate Blanchett?s Best Actress reign is currently undeterred. She took home the BAFTA for her role in Blue Jasmine and she accepted her award without ever uttering the name ?Woody Allen?. Cate took a break from the campaign trail and the promotional trail for the last two weeks, so the BAFTAs were her big return to the spotlight. The official excuse was that she was grieving for Philip Seymour Hoffman, but Cate was also keeping a low profile with the Woody Allen/Dylan Farrow situation exploding on every news site and blog.
For her big return, Cate chose one of her favorite fashion houses, Alexander McQueen. This dress is simple and conservative (for Cate), and I really like it on her. It?s a great dress for the BAFTAs ? a nice cap sleeve gown in black, but enough pattern and styling steeze to make it interesting. Take a gander at her crazy necklace! PS? Bonus Tom Hardy.
Emma Thompson was also nominated and she attended the show AND presented. She wore this Maria Grachvogel dress which looks fantastic on her. I wouldn?t have thought to put her in such a classic red dress, but it works. I even like her Tilda Swinton-esque flyaway hair.

I still find it very odd to see her with tiny dogs at all. This is a stereotype, but I feel like a gun-loving gal would want at least a medium-sized dog. I remember when Amy Adams first started doing the awards circuit. She was really an “it” fashion girl, and she took risks while remaining interesting and gorgeous. Now her fashion is kind of hit or miss, which is to be expected I guess. She’s not trying to pull focus on every red carpet, she’s just showing up, being a consummate professional and looking genuinely happy when she’s passed up, yet again. Amy’s time will come, but it’s not this awards season.
Amy was in this black Victoria Beckham sleeveless gown which just seemed very plain to me. It was a little black dress with a sheer crop top over it and a little polo collar. Maybe with less severe hair this would have worked, but the overall effect is very staid. The dress definitely highlights her killer figure. When she was presenting I was struck by how fit her arms looked. I had arm envy, but not fashion envy. Plus her makeup was overdone. She had those same bow shaped lips with freshly-applied lipstick on camera.
This is Imogen Poots, she’s a 24 year-old British actress who was in one of the most memorable dresses of the evening, in my opinion. She’s known for 28 Weeks Later, which I’ve seen but I didn’t remember her honestly. This amazing crimson cutout gown is Givenchy. Do you remember Amy Adams’ Globe dress this year? It was also Givenchy and was very low cut. Amy isn’t always so conservative. She could have pulled off a dress like this but maybe she’s just trying to mix it up.
Contrast that skin-showing showstopper to Sally Hawkins, of Blue Jasmine, in long sleeve Mulberry. This dress looks just like the one she wore to the Globes, which was similarly pale and embroidered. I dislike the bell skirt, I dislike the formal floral pattern, and I dislike the whole gown. It’s very old fashioned and fug.
Edith Bowman did some red carpet interviews last night, and I’m including her because she was awesome. I honestly didn’t know who she was until I saw her on BBC America ahead of the show. She was funny as hell, she was very good at talking to the attendees, and I just came away so impressed with her. That said, I was distracted by her flyaway hair. She made up for it with her personality, though. She was a lot of fun.

The two people in this post are actually my picks for best and worst dressed of the evening. Surprising how that turns out. To be fair to Lily Allen, her Vivienne Westwood dress wasn?t even ?bad?. It was enchanting, gorgeously structured and very much acid-trip couture. The problem is that it was worn by Lily, who had zero reasons for showing up to the BAFTAs in this ?LOOK AT ME? ensemble. Technically, she was there to ?support? her mom, who was nominated for Best British Film. So Lily wanted to support her mom? by making sure all of the cameras were on her Vivienne Westwood dress. And yes, the hair feathers need to go. Ugh. You know what struck me? This whole look would have been perfect if she was trying to be the biggest LOOK AT ME of the Met Gala. At the BAFTAs? Not so much.
And here?s my favorite look of the night, Naomi Harris in Gucci. I love the color. I love the design. I love the fit. I love the styling. I love how it?s conservative enough for the occasion (the sleeves) and how it has enough sexiness (the deep V, the side-slit) for such a young, beautiful actress. This is the perfect dress for the BAFTAs on someone who deserved to be there.

I honestly forgot that Emily Blunt was pregnant. That?s the thing about some of these celebrities ? they really can go undercover for months at a time when they want to. Emily has been out and about and photographed by paparazzi occasionally, but usually she was coming out of or going into a gym. Which might also explain why she was so small throughout her pregnancy. That girl kept it really fit. Anyway, I wasn?t expecting a birth announcement so soon (because I forgot), so this was a pleasant surprise. Emily and John Krasinski have welcomed their first child, a little girl they?ve named Hazel.
Emily Blunt and John Krasinski are parents! The spouses of three years welcomed their first child together on Feb. 16.
“Wanted to let the news out directly,” Krasinksi tweeted. “Emily and I are so incredibly happy to welcome our daughter Hazel into the world today! Happy bday!”
British star Blunt, 30, and Office alum Krasinski, 34, began dating back in 2008 and became engaged in August 2009. They married on July 10, 2010 in Como, Italy.
The Devil Wears Prada actress was quite the picture-perfect mom-to-be throughout her pregnancy, frequently wearing very little makeup and showing off her natural glow. After exclusively revealing she was pregnant to Us Weekly back in September, Blunt continued filming the upcoming big-screen musical Into the Woods in the U.K. “Emily’s so ready to have the baby!” a source told Us in December. “It’s been difficult, with her traveling and them having to be apart.”
An insider also told Us at the time that the spouses were finishing up the nursery and babyproofing. “John’s trying to make the pregnancy as easy as possible for Emily,” the source said of the Something Borrowed star. “He’s going to make a great father.”

I suspect John will be a great father. I also suspect that it might be one-and-done for Emily and John, but maybe they?ll have another, you never know. As for the name? Hazel Krasinski. It sounds rather old-fashioned, doesn?t it? Like, I imagine there was a Hazel Krasinski working at a steel mill during World War II. Then she quit mill work with her man came home after being wounded in Ardennes. Also: Julia Roberts has a daughter named Hazel too. ?Hazel? is one of those old-fashioned names coming back into vogue in celebrity circles, I think. I expect we?ll be seeing more Millies, Violets and Dorothys too. Anyway, congrats to John and Emily!

I?m not going to include the NSFW photos because you can see them a million other places and seriously, who really needs to see Paris?s birthday beav at this point? The beav-flash came on this red carpet, while Paris wore this hot Pink dress without panties. The dress has a very high (waist-high) slit in the front, and so for her birthday, Paris posed with the dress slit open, exposing some of her mons pubis. The dress is by Alon Livne. Paris gave the designer a shout-out on her Twitter before the event, tweeting: ?Love my beautiful #Birthday dress! Thank you alonlivne! I feel like a princess!!?
Paris also Instagram?d this message: ?Yes! I know! My dress has a very high cut slit! And that’s because it’s a dress straight off the runway! I saw it in my friend @AlonLivne’s #NYFW fashion show & I just knew it would be the perfect #Birthday dress! Loves it! #CoutureRunwayBarbie?.
So, at this point, does Paris?s birthday-beav upset you? I?m kind of meh on it. But I could rant for a solid hour about that g?damn tiara. YOU ARE 33 YEARS OLD. Stop trying to be Barbie and get a real job!

Katy Perry and John Mayer are still keeping up their charade of a romance well into the new year. I’m amazed, really, that they are still together. In those photos, Katy is wearing a ring on her very important finger. We’re supposed to carefully debate the appearance of this ring right now. What does it mean? I think it means Katy wants us to see the ring and wonder whether she and Johnny boy are engaged. They’re not. They are SO not engaged. Katy pulled this stunt last Valentine’s day too when John gave her a ruby ring that looked like costume jewelry. This is their little mutual game. It keeps John in the headlines and makes Katy feel important, like she’s “tamed” another bad boy.
