Given the SAG Award nominations? complete lack of love for May December, it feels like Natalie Portman is maybe phasing out her awards-show appearances. Julianne Moore is not! She and Charles Melton attended the Critics Choice Awards, although their film was once again blanked for awards. I enjoyed May December but I also sort of think that there are more worthy awards nominees, but we?ll see. I still feel like Melton should get an Oscar nom. Meanwhile, Julianne wore this glorious Chanel sack dress! Melton?s (zoot) suit is Valentino.

| Julianne Moore hates mashed potatoes: 'It's just mush' it's just mashed mush' | Added 328 days ago | Source: CeleBitchy |

The best part of this time of year is that most holiday meals feature mounds of mashed potatoes. I am a mashed potato person, and a french fry person and even a baked potato person. I have more rules about baked potatoes though I loathe ?full loaded? baked potatoes and you shouldn?t put everything but the kitchen sink on your potato of choice. Like, it?s gross when people use fries as a vehicle for all kinds of meat, chili, cheese, poutine, whatever. The potato is wonderful enough to stand on its own, which is why mashed potatoes are probably the purest potato just some butter, salt, pepper and cream and you?ve got perfect mashed potatoes. But not according to Julianne Moore. Julianne Moore hates mashed potatoes. Why????
Julianne Moore is a staunch hater of one of the world?s most beloved comfort foods. The actress, 63, revealed that mashed potatoes rank at the top of her least favorite foods list ? and she can?t understand why other people dont feel the same.
?Why do people like mashed potatoes? It?s just mush. It?s just mush!? she said at a May December cast panel in New York City moderated by Happy Sad Confused podcast host Josh Horowitz on Nov. 30.
While her costar Charles Melton was quick to defend the dish, Moore hit back and said, ?I know, people love it, they love them ? it?s just mashed mush.?
Natalie Portman, on the other hand, said she?s opposed to fruit in salad. ?I?m not into it. I like fruit salad, but I don?t want a savory salad with fruit in it. It bothers me.?
Melton, 32, shared that he doesn?t like blue cheese.
[From People]
Blue cheese is disgusting, I couldn?t agree more. And I?m also not crazy about fruit salads, although chicken salad with grapes = heaven. But how can anyone hate mashed potatoes? It?s not just mush! Julianne must be making it wrong. That being said, some people have strong feelings about lumpy vs smooth mashed potatoes I like both? What potato dish does Julianne make for the holidays? Baked potatoes? Sweet potato pie?

| Julianne Moore wore Bottega Veneta & Bulgari at the 2022 Cannes Film Festival | Added 917 days ago | Source: CeleBitchy |

The Cannes Film Festival has begun. I was unprepared, sort of. It used to be an annual tradition for me that I would get a spring cold right around the time of Cannes. I was sick last week, which means I?m ahead of schedule. Anyway, that has nothing to do with these photos, I?m just sharing. I?m rusty AF, honestly. I think the celebrities are rusty too, people forgot how to do film festivals during the pandemic. So here?s Julianne Moore at the Cannes Opening Ceremony carpet. She wore Bottega Veneta with emerald-and-diamond Bulgari jewelry. The dress is interesting? it?s somewhat droopy in the front view, but from the side, it looks good. The jewels are gorgeous.
Lori Harvey was there! I?m sure she?s being paid to be there by one of the sponsors. She wore Alexandre Vauthier. It was bright and poofy? but fine. There were so many women in worse poofy dresses. I love all the diamonds all of her ice is from Messika High Jewelry.
Lashana Lynch in Fendi. The dress is really pretty and a tad bridal. I feel like she could have made it less plain/bridal if she had gone bigger with the jewelry and accessories.
Eva Longoria in Alberta Ferretti. Usually Eva looks so pageant-queen at Cannes. She looks nice here? She kept it pretty simple.
Katherine Langford got a lot of fashion-site attention in this Prada. It?s gorgeous and she doesn?t even look real in it. I know I?m a basic bitch! I love a simple sparkly gown.
Rebecca Hall in Gucci. A mess, but a fun, dumb mess. She looks like she?s not taking it too seriously, which is fine, honestly.
Brnice Bejo in a Valentino jumpsuit. She looked comfortable and like she wasn?t trying too hard.

| Julianne Moore looked amazing in emerald Dior for Cannes Opening Night | Added 5 years ago | Source: CeleBitchy |

Every year, there are certain women who attend the Cannes Film Festival not because they?re promoting a certain film or project, but because of their various sponsorships and advertising contracts. That?s why Julianne Moore comes to Cannes so often she has some kind of contract with L?Oreal Paris, one of the sponsors of Cannes. Other women are contractually obligated to come to Cannes for jewelry contracts or fashion contracts too. But Julianne is there for L?Oreal. For the opening night festivities, Julianne chose a really gorgeous Dior gown in emerald green. So many people think redheads shouldn?t wear green because ?it looks like Christmas.? It does look like Christmas, but I love it, and I love this gown. It?s spectacular on her. Check out her emerald and diamond earrings too.
Elle Fanning in on the Cannes jury this year, so we can look forward to seeing her practically every night of the festival. The Cannes organizers know that, and that?s why they always put at least one ?fashionista? on the jury every year they want some glamourous young woman in couture all the time. Elle played along in this Gucci gown and Chopard jewelry. The color kind of washes her out, and I hope she brought gowns in colors other than cream, white and pale yellow. Her styling is fantastic though, even if I think the Gucci is ratherblah. Ugh, the shoulders. No one that young should wear a dress with that kind of shoulder padding.
Eva Longoria is another lady who turns up at Cannes every year because of her beauty contract. It?s been happening for at least a decade! And every year, I?m sort of underwhelmed by her fashion choices, right? This year, she wore a custom Alberta Ferretti gown which looks? not as high-end as it should.

| Julianne Moore in Givenchy at the Globes: scrolldown fug? | Added 5 years ago | Source: CeleBitchy |

All credit to The Fug Girls for the term scrolldown fug, which Im pretty sure they coined. Thats the best way to describe Julianne Moores Givenchy look last night. I saw her get out of the limo and I thought oh thats not bad, it could be more fitted. Were so used to being disappointed by Juliannes fashion that I thought it could be worse. It was though, check out the skirt below. Its got like a weird split vest mullet top, a long skirt with a mesh overlay and a giant bow at the T back with more of that mesh running along the seam. Thats a lot of attention to detail for such a bad result. I wish you could see the face Im making, its similar to this.

| Julianne Moore in LV & Valentino at the Venice Film Festival: stunning or awful? | Added 7 years ago | Source: CeleBitchy |

Julianne Moore isn?t just in Venice to promote Suburbicon, her latest film, which is directed by George Clooney. Julianne is also at the film festival because she was awarded the Franca Sozzani Award, which is sort of the Venice Film Festival?s lifetime achievement award. It?s well-deserved, when you think about Julianne?s filmography and her history of turning in powerful work through the years. To receive the award, Julianne wore this red-pink Valentino which? my immediate reaction was to hate it, then I kind of fell in love with it, then I looked at the detailing a bit harder and I hated it again. I?m still on the fence. From a distance, it looks romantic and amazing. In close-up photos, it?s a really strange dress, especially with the patterned fabric underneath all of that tulle. Still, I love red on a redhead.
I?m also including some other looks from Julianne in Venice. This is what she wore to the Suburbicon photocall on Saturday. This dress is Louis Vutton Resort 2018 and I kind of love it. It?s just a boxy, weird little dress but it really suits her, right?
And here?s her look at the Suburbicon premiere on Saturday night. This is Valentino as well and I think this is perhaps the worst look. It?s trying so hard to be striking and dramatic but this color is just so? meh. If the entire thing was in black, I might have loved it. Or maybe not: this dress is fundamentally a bibbed sack dress, almost maternity-wear. Ugh.

| Julianne Moore in white Armani at the BAFTAs: stunning or plain? | Added 8 years ago | Source: CeleBitchy |

Julianne Moore wasn’t nominated this year at the BAFTAs, but as you probably remember she won best actress last year, for Still Alice, for which she also took home the Oscar. (Sidenote: I can’t believe that was just last year.) I like that she’s still showing up this awards season and looking lovely, even if her fashion can be hit or miss.
Julianne wore this white Armani gown with black detailing including straps with look like they lead to long black pieces of fabric hanging down the back. Just going by our past coverage, we’ve seen Julianne in Armani a couple of times but Armani isn’t one of her go-to designers. This may be a controversial opinion, but I really like this dress. It’s classic with unexpected subtle details and her accessories are killer. Check out those emerald earrings and that incredible statement ring. My only complaint is that bright Pink shade of lipstick.
Isla Fisher was also in white, in this Stella McCartney gown which fits her like a glove but still looks cheap somehow. Maybe it’s the unfinished hem or the contrasting satin fabric and the drop of the bust area, but this dress looks like lingerie. That’s a shame because her styling is gorgeous. I keep seeing hair like this and wanting to get extensions because as natural as it looks you know that giant mane is not real.
And here’s Angela Bassett killing it in Pink custom Galia Lahav. I could have sworn she was in her late 40s (although she doesn’t look it) but she is 57 years old! The back of this dress was low cut and sexy. I’m also including a photo of the camel coat with sequin flowers she wore over it because it was perfect.

| Julianne Moore: 'It's very difficult to find parts, no matter how old you are' | Added 8 years ago | Source: CeleBitchy |

|
|
Julianne Moore covers the March issue of Marie Claire UK. She?s really ageless, isn?t she? And by that I mean she?s looked pretty much the same for the past 15 years. I even believe that she?s Botox-free and plastic surgery-free. I think she just takes care of her skin. At least I hope so. Julianne covers MC to promote Freeheld, the true story about Moore?s dying character fighting for her death benefits to go to her life partner, played by Ellen Page. Freeheld got a limited release in America last fall, and there was some hope that it could be an awards contender, but critics didn?t care for it very much. Anyway, here are some highlights from Julianne?s profile:
JM on Ellen Page?s coming out: “Ellen was miserable. She talked to me very frankly about her own experience?what it felt like, about the nature of the discomfort. A lot of people I know came out a long time ago. None of my friends were celebrities when they came out; they were college students. So here I was talking to this very young woman, who had recently come out, about experiences that were very, very fresh, so it was a different kind of conversation.”
On LGBT rights in general: ?I think it?s easy for us in New York to say ?Oh, things are different? but they are not. People can still be discriminated against at work, or for housing. In some States they can be fired for being gay; they can be denied opportunities.?
Ageism in Hollywood: ?It?s very difficult to find parts, no matter how old you are, no matter where you are and whether you?re a man or a woman, the movie industry is not in the business of finding good roles for actors or actresses; it is in the business of creating films that will make as much money as possible.?
She witnessed the AIDS crisis in the 1980s: ?I was 23 years old, and people started dying. The first person I knew went away to Mexico on vacation, came home and died?he said he had the Mexican flu. People just kept dying. And these were my friends. It was happening in the actor community, and it was devastating. So I think that made me politically aware.”
She?s a mom first: ?At night, I won’t answer work emails, or the phone, unless there is an emergency. If I have to read scripts, or have a meeting, or do an interview, I do it during the school day. I don’t think I’ve ever given an interview within the school hours, just because I want to be home when my kids are home. I want to have dinner with them.”
[From Marie Claire UK, E! News]
It seems like giving interviews when her kids are in school would be the perfect time? I get that she wants to be home when they get home from school, but the way she said that was a bit odd. And I think she?s being much, much too nice and conciliatory about ageism in Hollywood. Just because she?s one of a handful of over-40 actresses working with some consistency, doesn?t mean that ageism is still rampant with actresses in particular. A 30-something man can plod through and not become a movie star until his 40s, and he?ll work consistently for another 30 years. But if an actress hasn?t been successful by the time she?s 35, her career is pretty much over.
