The ?Inglourious Basterds? babe has been cast as the female lead in the forthcoming FX drama pilot ?The Bridge,? under the direction of Gerardo Naranjo.
Per the synopsis, ?The Bridge centers on two detectives from the United States and Mexico ? El Paso Police Homicide Detective Sonya North (Kruger) and Marco Ruiz ? who must work together to hunt down a serial killer operating on both sides of the American-Mexican border.?
?Sonya North is described as a dogged cop who lacks tact, warmth and empathy. Shockingly candid, she calls the world like she sees it ? which can be off-putting to her colleagues, but also refreshing and funny.?

Amanda Bynes recently told PEOPLE she was doing “amazing.” Then PEOPLE went on to describe how she was kicked out of a gym class for acting weird. Well, since I live in bizzaro world like Amanda, I can say things are finally looking up for the retired actress. Her management team including her agent, publicist and entertainment lawyer, have all quit in the past couple of weeks.
They all say the same thing. Bynes was a “dream client for years” but in the past 12 months has become difficult, uncontrollable and unreachable. They literally have not been able to reach her. She won’t returns their calls. Possibly because she thinks her Fisher Price phone is real and keeps wondering why the only thing her agent will tell her is, “The cow goes moo.”
Anyway, Amanda’s rationale is that since she’s retired from acting and going into fashion, she doesn’t need them anymore. Makes sense. When switching professions, it’s always a good idea to burn as many bridges as you can.

During her appearance at a recent ?X Factor? function, Britney revealed some splotchy skin which is the result of her psoriasis skin condition.
An insider told press, ?Britney has had the skin condition for a long time, but it only flares up when she?s under extreme pressure. Now she can?t seem to stop scratching and picking at the sores. She has a psoriasis skin cream, but she says it burns, so she stopped using it.?

In case you missed it yesterday, I ended up updating that story about Blake and her phantom baby bump. Page Six had a source who claimed that Blake was eating more than usual on the set of Gossip Girl, and that she was ?glowing?? which obviously means BABY. Blake?s rep shut it down hard and fast, telling Gossip Cop that the Page Six story was ?completely untrue? within hours of Page Six?s publication. So, what does that mean? Blake isn?t selling you babies. Yet. She?s selling you the ideas of babies, because she?s so young and fertile and she?ll get pregnant soon, but right now she?s just so crazy in-love and baking and food and BABIES! It?s a circular argument, you see? Anyway, Us Weekly managed to get a ?tip? on how Ryan Reynolds loves the crap out of Blake?s happy-homemaker routine.
In Ryan Reynolds’ eyes — okay, in most guys’ eyes — Blake Lively is the total package.
The low-key duo and Green Lantern costars — who tied the knot in an intimate, top-secret Charleston, SC ceremony September 9 — first bonded during quiet date nights at Lively’s NYC apartment, where the actress showed off her culinary prowess. (“I love, love to bake!” Lively told Us Weekly last year.)
“Ryan loves the comfort Blake provides,” an insider tells Us. “It’s like, ‘You were on the cover of Vogue and you want to cook me dinner? Yes, please!’”
Echoes another source, “They are ridiculously in love.”
On Thursday, Lively, 25, headed back to work on the set of Gossip Girl in NYC, where two things were noticeably absent — her wedding ring, and that baby bump everyone has been on the lookout for.
That morning, her rep slammed a report in The New York Post’s Page Six that the actress and Reynolds, 35, are expecting, calling the rumors “completely untrue.”
Though she’s not pregnant now, kids might not be too far off for the head-over-heels newlyweds.

Here?s the thing ? I think this is probably true. We can debate whether or not Blake?s happy-homemaker routine is for real, but I have no doubt that Ryan enjoys the way Blake is (or how she acts around him), and she must seem worlds more stable than Scarlett Johansson.
I?ve been actively avoiding using ScarJo?s name in all of these Blake and Ryan posts, but this Us Weekly story is ABOUT ScarJo and how Blake is so much better for Ryan than ScarJo. And that gives me mixed feelings, like I actually feel sympathetic towards ScarJo (who really doesn’t NEED my sympathy). For one, Scarlett was really young when she got together with Ryan. I?m not infantilizing her, I?m just saying? I think she was trying on the ?wife/partner in a serious relationship? persona, and I?ve always felt like Scarlett got tired of playing that role pretty quickly, and her real personality came out. I think Ryan sees himself as a stable, conservative (conservative meaning ?not crazy, not a womanizer?) dude who wants a family, and women that date him tend to tailor their personalities to fit with that. ScarJo couldn?t keep up the faade. As for Blake? either it?s not a faade and this is what she?s really like, or she?ll outgrow this happy-homemaker phase in a few years too.
Here are Blake?s Gucci ads again, just because how do we know that this marriage isn?t just some promotional scam for Gucci? HOW?

Here are some photos of Katie Holmes and Suri Cruise in NYC earlier this week, and Suri is clearly not enjoying the paparazzi flashbulbs. Some of you have wondered why Katie subjects Suri to such a terrible atrocity as those strange men who take photos for money, but I really do think the paps serve a dual purpose of providing essentially free security because no Scientologist in their right mind would approach Katie while the cameras are snapping. Also, it’s not like Katie and Suri can live underground (although Suri’s new school does have a private parking garage) or never go outside, right? It’s sad to see Suri so disturbed by the cameras, yes, but maybe there’s really not a good solution to the problem. The little girl will always be photographed no matter what.
In yesterday’s story about Tom’s puffy, moob-covering jacket, Kaiser also covered this week’s In Touch story about how Tom hasn’t seen Suri in nearly two months because he’s so busy and important. As always, Tom’s movie-star schedule prevails. The guy never made it a priority to physically spend time with Suri before he and Katie split (as we uncannily pointed out the very day that she filed for divorce), so there’s no logical reason to assume that he’d change his ways for Suri’s sake after Katie left him. By Xenu, he had this All You Need Is Kill on his agenda, and even though he’s Tom Cruise and has the box-office clout (in an action capacity) to postpone production, Tom just can’t do that. Obviously, the guy can’t stand to be himself — he always has to be acting to become someone, anyone else — and I think he honestly cannot take a break for fear that he’d discover the empty shell lovingly created by his years of Scientology auditing.
As I’ve said before, it’s nothing new for Suri to not see Tom for months at a time, and Tom really believes that he can seasonally swoop in for Disneyworld fun and hold Suri while he smiles at the paps and swim with her in front of tabloid reporters, and that will be enough to rehabilitate his public image. Yet it really is true that Tom couldn’t be bothered show up for Suri first day of school. That’s the thing with Tom — he doesn’t even realize what’s really important to his daughter. He only knows how to “play the role of a father” for the cameras (TOOL). Now someone on Tom’s team has realized that Tom skipped out on a major Suri milestone, which doesn’t bode well for his image. So Tom’s lawyer, Burt Fields, has issued a statement that “Tom calls Suri every day, sometimes twice a day. He loves Suri and is a constant presence in her life.” Right.
Now for the more amusing part of this story, which is that Katie Holmes has finally let a bit of smartass attitude slip in regard to Tom. Allegedly, she told one of her friends that she thinks Tom is an old “geezer.” Of course, this is only funny because it’s about Tom:
No more older men for eligible bachelorette Katie Holmes! The 33-year-old actress told girlfriends clamoring to fix her up fast that she won’t consider dating a man old enough to be her father — a la “geezer” Tom Cruise, 50 — ever again!
Katie’s made it clear she’s not ready to date, but told pals that when she is, “Don’t even think about introducing me to any man more than five years older than I am! Next time, I want someone more my own age.”

You know, Tom is always so manic and full of energy that I always figured he’d be exhausting to live with. But do you think it’s possible that once the cameras go away, he just fades into the nearest fainting couch? His level of publicly displayed energy is rather unsustainable, and as much as his OT VIII level self would claim to defy the very laws of physics, he’s still confined to his human shell. Poor Tom. All the plastic surgery in the world can’t make him cool.

Do you remember when Britney Spears was losing it before her big head-shaving umbrella incident, and when she used to drive around aimlessly for hours and talk in a British accent? She had a weird symbiotic relationship with the paparazzi hoard that was following her, and she even dated a paparazzo for a while. (And there were inevitable sex tape stories, but I digress.) That’s what I’m reminded of when I see the video (at this link) of Amanda Bynes going off on a photographer. The guy is bugging the crap out of her and is super rude, as they are. Amanda tries to reason with him and asks him to delete a photo she thinks is unflattering. It’s hard to tell exactly what’s happening, but then she poses for him, a scuffle happens and she tries to grab his camera. At the end of the clip he accuses her of scratching his neck with those talon nails of hers. (I think they’re fierce actually, I would do that with my nails!) It bothered me to see, because it seems like she’s having mental issues when she talks about how she doesn’t like photos taken of her face. Maybe she’s just trying to control photos of herself and doesn’t want to get papped, though. You can see why she hates the paparazzi and hides from them when they act like this.

The struggle caught on tape began with Bynes walking down Sunset Blvd. in Hollywood, shielding her face when she realized she was being photographed. Apparently the star didn’t like the way she looked, and tried to reason with the paparazzo and flatter him into deleting the pics, agreeing to pose for a new set. What happens next turns ugly, as it appears there’s a struggle over control of the camera.
The melee ends with the pap yelling that the star hurt him, with Bynes calmly saying, “I didn’t touch you.”
Bynes has become a paparazzi magnet ever since her car was impounded following a citation for driving on a suspended license ? suspended after a series of fender benders and accused hit and runs in addition to a DUI charge for the star.

I don’t want to get into a whole chicken and egg scenario of where Amanda started having problems and when the paparazzi came in. The paparazzi don’t cause celebrities to have mental issues, but they flock to the ones that are having them like fleas on an old dog. This photographer’s behavior is unacceptable, and Amanda probably deals with that crap now whenever she leaves the house. It makes me feel for her actually. That and the fact that she’s not trying to say anything publicly about how Lindsay Lohan is a hypocrite degenerate who should never utter her name.
As for how Amanda is doing otherwise, we’ve heard plenty of stories about her acting bizarrely, most recently in a spinning class when she stripped down to a bra and applied makeup in front of everyone. TMZ reports that Amanda’s entire management team – her agent, publicist, and entertainment lawyer – have all dropped her as a client. They claim “According to one source, all 3 members of the team made multiple efforts to help Amanda before she went radio silent — but Bynes was not receptive. Eventually, the team decided to cut bait … acknowledging they can’t help someone that doesn’t want to be helped.” Apparently Amanda wants to go into fashion and considers herself retired from acting, which is what she told People yesterday. Well, at least her parents are around her now, allegedly.
If you have some time to kill and would like to go over a dated list of Amanda’s legal problems and terribly driving record, MTV has compiled a very good timeline. They didn’t even include this latest scuffle, which happened after the published. Also, we heard a while ago that she was supposed to personally appear in court today, but I don’t know if that’s still happening as her lawyer was just there on her behalf on Wednesday.

These are some photos of Salma Hayek over the past few days in England, where she?s been promoting Savages. The photos of Salma and Oliver Stone (where he seems to be too focused on her rack) are from the London photocall for Savages, and the other pics are just from outside of various TV studios where Salma?s been doing interviews. I don?t have any of the designer IDs on the outfits, so if anyone wants to inform me, go right ahead. I?m assuming they?re all pieces from the design houses that her husband owns. While in London, Salma described what it?s like to have unlimited access to all of those clothes:
Salma said: “I am so, so lucky. I am the luckiest girl in the world, really. And still with access to everything I could possibly want I still say ‘Oh dear, what am I going to wear today?! There’s no ending to that question!”
Although her husband’s company owns many of the labels, Salma insists that he still pays.
She said: “He [Franois-Henri] still pays for it, so I feel always like I can’t just go and take anything I want, you know? I could, because he is really nice to me, but I always feel I cannot become that, some crazy woman that comes and takes half the store.”

Meanwhile, this interview with Salma also caught my eye. You know how Salma has launched her own skincare line, aimed at Latina skin care specifically? Well, Salma also has some down-home skin care tips. And they seem kind of weird to me.
She is an undeniable big screen beauty and she has a picture perfect face that is clear of any blemishes. However, Salma Hayek admitted that she achieves her skin perfection by never washing her face when she wakes up in the morning.
At 46-years-old the actor looks much younger than her age, and she attributes her less than hygienic regime as the secret behind her skin perfection.
Speaking to Kate Garraway on ITV’1 Lorraine, Salma said: ‘OK, one tip – always wash your face at night. Clean it. You don’t have to wash it, but you have to clean it really, really well at night.’
The From Dusk Till Dawn star said: ‘One strange tip – don’t wash it in the morning, at all, never. Because at night your skin is rebuilding some of the oils that you need to keep your skin young, and it balances the PH. So in the morning if you take them off – you can splash it with water, do something mild – but you don’t want to get rid of that. And if your skin is dirty in the morning, it means you didn’t clean well at night.’
With one secret out the bag, Salma was happy to share even more of her knowledge on maintaining a youthful appearance. The mother-of-one developed her own range of beauty products that she uses all the time and only sells in one store over in America.
She said: ‘I’m not very trim, but I don’t have as many wrinkles as probably I should. But I do use, I use my products but you don’t sell them, I just sell them in only one drug store in the States. And I do a lot of that for 10 years, and I’ve been using that stuff even since before, so I use creams, it’s creams.’
The Mexican born actor stars in new Oliver Stone movie Savages, alongside John Travolta, Benicio Del Toro and Taylor Kitsch. The big budget thriller tells the tale of waring drug cartels and the violence that the narcotics business contributes to society.
Salma said of her role in the film: ‘I am the queen of the most important drug cartel in Mexico. I think it’s important people see that for people who consume drugs and they think, ‘There’s nothing wrong with just a little bit, I’m not going to die from it’, you might not die from it, but you buying it – for that to get to you, a lot of people died. So the people that use drugs somehow contribute to this violence and this business.’

I need to ask my mom about that, because my mom is the queen of low-budget makeup and skincare fixes, and she has great skin (fingers crossed that I age like her). I wash my face before I go to bed. I wash my face? well, not as soon as I get up, but I get up, eat breakfast and watch the news for a half an hour, then I take a shower just before I ?go to work? (walk to the computer). And I?m washing my face or splashing water on my face throughout the day too, because I rarely wear makeup and why not? Is this the wrong way to handle it? Does Salma?s advice only apply to certain skin types? My skin is pretty oily. If I don?t wash my face a few times a day, I feel greasy.

Part of this story is old information which I covered earlier this week. Taylor Swift spent last weekend in Massachusetts, visiting her young lover at his prep school (where he?s a junior). Conor Kennedy was allowed to leave his prep school on Saturday, and return the next day after he and Swift spent a lovely weekend antiquing and eating super-cute sundaes. For real! As one of my Twitter followers noted, ?antiquing? is the new ?cuddlefesting?. And as many of you pointed out, what 18-year-old boy doesn’t like to go antiquing with his girlfriend? Haha. Well, this is story just has a few more salient details that will make you flat-out nauseous.
They couldn?t even wait for fall break! Taylor Swift?s boyfriend, Conor Kennedy, 18, had only been back at his boarding school for a week when he got a visit from the singer. Why so soon? Swift, fresh off promoting her album in Canada and Brazil, ?is obsessed with Conor,? a source tells Hot Stuff of the star, 22. ?She writes him love notes!?
The pair skipped the dining hall on Sept. 14th for Taylor?s Tavern & Restaurant, a favorite student date spot in the adjacent Greenfield. The following day, they went antiquing, hit the Lady Killigrew caf and then capped off their G-rated weekend with an 11:30 PM stop at Friendly?s.
?It was so late that they were the only costumers,? says a source at the eatery, where each ordered a sundae (a Happy Ending for her, the Forbidden Fudge Brownie for him). ?They sat on the same side of the booth!?

I think part of the problem is that I cannot relate to Swifty?s incessant girlishness in any way. I often talk about how she infantilizes herself, like she?s a 13-year-old girl stuck in the body of a 22-year-old (with bolt-ons). But really, I wasn?t like this when I was 13. Or when I was 16, or when I was 19, etc. When I was 13, I was already dealing with complicated relationships with older boys and such, and it never involved sundaes and antiquing. Did I miss out? Am I the odd one? Or is it Swifty?
And I?m not sure how ?G-rated? this relationship is when the subtext of all of these stories is that Swifty went to Conor?s prep school, signed him out as his guardian, then had sex with him in a quaint New England bed and breakfast. That?s PG-13, at least. ?Happy Ending? indeed. ?Forbidden Fudge Brownie? indeed (gross).

The photos were so obviously for promotional purposes, I just assumed that the lesson of the story was NOT ?Stacy Keibler is engagement-obsessed and she?s wandering around, trying on engagement rings? and more likely ?Stacy got paid a cool $50,000 to do a photo op with Jacob the Jeweler because she?s feathering her nest for the time when she falls out of favor of The Clooney.? Still, the photos were distributed to some tabloid outlets, and thus, we have a magical story about Stacy dropping hints to Clooney about wanting a ring and a wedding.
Is George Clooney, 51, ready to take the plunge again? His girlfriend of one year, Stacy Keibler, was spotted trying on engagement rings at the jewelry store Jacob & Co. in Manhattan on Sept. 13.
According to a fellow shopped, Stacy?s heart started racing when Jacob Arabo showed her his palladium collection.
?I want to try on some rings ? they are beautiful!? Stacy exclaimed. Stacy ?was particularly blown over by a Jacob & Co. canary diamond ring, so yellow might be her color.?
Stacy may have been dropping a big hint to George two days earlier as well, when she checked out an array of breathtaking wedding gowns at the Vera Wang and Marchesa runway shows during NYC?s Fashion Week.

Oh, and she was seen at Vera Wang?s wedding gown show? That?s fairly damning. Maybe there IS something to this. You know where we are now? We?re at the magical time within George Clooney?s relationships where he?s been with The Girl for long enough for it to be considered ?serious? and ?potentially leading to some kind of settling down,? and that?s just when The Girl starts getting really comfortable. That?s when she starts thinking, ?Hey, maybe he WILL marry me.? That?s when she starts mentioning weddings and babies in interviews. And that?s when Ol? George dumps ?em. Now, do I think George will dump Stacy just because she was looking at wedding gowns and engagement rings? Hm. I don?t know. He?s dumped girls for less, you know? I think she might just be ?on notice.? We?ll see if she talks about ?their future together? in an interview. THEN it will be over.

Blake Lively says she’s taken up cooking and loves experimenting when she travels. So much so that she’s always smuggling back local ingredients through customs.
“I have smuggled so many ingredients across so many borders, like shallot confit from Thailand, or a new sauce from New Orleans not approved by the FDA.I’m stuffing them in teddy bears cut in half and put back together again and I’ve gotten really good at it, although now I’m talking about it, I’m sure customs will be all over me next time I go anywhere.”
Hidden in teddy bears? Why didn’t I think of that? And here I was stuffing saffron into my anus.

Making for her first sighting since getting into another run-in with the law, Lindsay Lohan was photographed as she exited her New York City hotel on Thursday afternoon (September 20).
The 26-year-old actress looked to be in high spirits as she toted a young boy in her arms while flashing a grin at the paparazzi before loading into an awaiting ride.
Miss Lohan's midday hotel departure comes a day after she was nabbed by police in NYC on a hit and run charge stemming from a pedestrian's claim that they were struck by Lindsay's Porsche early Wednesday morning.
As an update, grainy surveillance footage capturing the crime scene was released earlier today (watch below). Lohan's camp, however, has stated that the allegations are "untrue" and plan to fight the charges in court.
