I’ve never really understood why Puma decided to make Selena Gomez their official spokesmodel. Don’t get me wrong, I’ll take any excuse we can get to see more of Selena in leggings and sports bras. But it’s supposed to be workout gear, right? And I’m pretty sure the only ones working up a sweat right […]

| Marion Cotillard thought it was 'weird' that Woody Allen 'married one of his daughters' | Added 6 years ago | Source: CeleBitchy |
|
|
|
|
|
Sometimes I think Marion Cotillard is the victim of lost-in-translation shenanigans. Like, she?s a very fluent English speaker, but you can see that she sometimes struggles, in English interviews, to really express herself fully, with every nuance she really intends. Then again, when she?s speaking in French interviews, she has moments where she still sounds a bit wacky, so maybe this is just who she is and how she really speaks. I bring this up because Marion was asked about Woody Allen, seemingly in an English-language interview with THR at a French Film event. Marion worked on Woody Allen?s Midnight In Paris in 2011, and she has not worked with him since. Her answers though? I?m sorry, but I laughed out loud.
The day after Dylan Farrow’s first television interview aired recounting her alleged abuse at the hands of her father Woody Allen, Midnight in Paris star Marion Cotillard has said that her experience working with Allen was “odd” and she would question working with him again.
“I didn’t know much about his personal life, actually,” the Oscar winner told THR at the UniFrance Rendez-vous with French Film event to promote the country’s cinema. “I knew that he had married one of his daughters which I thought, honestly, was weird, but I cannot judge something I don’t know.”
“I’m very ignorant of what he did or he didn’t do, I just see people suffering and it’s terrible,” she said. “I have to say today, yeah, if he were to ask me again – I don’t think it would ever happen because the experience we had together was very odd. I admire some of his work but we had no connection on set. But I have to say if he asked me to today I would question more, I would dig more,” she added. “I don’t know, I’m very ignorant about this story and I just see that it hurts to see people suffering.”
[From THR]
This might be the most French sentiment in the history of French sentiments: ?I knew that he had married one of his daughters which I thought, honestly, was weird, but I cannot judge something I don’t know.? Can we ever really KNOW? Can we really ever judge? Sure, we think we know that a man married his daughter, but je ne sais pas, what can one do? Que sera sera. As for all of these actresses coming out and cutting ties publicly with Woody Allen? I?m enjoying it. I think Marion?s is my new favorite.

| Kristen Bell in J. Mendel at the SAG Awards: forgettable or striking? | Added 6 years ago | Source: CeleBitchy |

|
|
Kristen Bell was the first ever host at last night’s SAG Awards, and she had to deliver a lot of mediocre lines that just weren’t funny or impactful. I like Kristen, she’s a go-getter and she’s hosted the Independent Spirit Awards masterfully, but she wasn’t given good material. She had a lot of costume changes last night, some were beautiful, but we’re just going to talk about her red carpet dress, this deep Pink J. Mendel with a floral overlay which was fitted down to her bottom. There was definitely something off about the fit and cut of this gown, like it should be higher on the bust and hips and more traditionally cut. The clustering of the embroidery was also bizarre, like she’d been attacked by a sewing machine from the waist up. If you’d like to see Kristen’s opening monologue, Just Jared has a clip here.
Laura Linney was also in J. Mendel, in a full coverage pepto Pink gown with a cape. Like Bell’s dress this was just bizarre. I feel like I’ve seen this sequin pattern before, it’s clearly a leaf but it looks more like something you would see wriggling under a microscope. It’s like somewhat was trying to put a modern art take on a very staid dress and I dislike it. Linney was nominated for Outstanding Performance by a Female Actor in a Drama Series, for her work in Ozark. That went to Claire Foy for The Crown.
Madeline Brewer of The Handmaid’s Tale was in a solid color blush gown with a bunch of pearl-like balls stuck on it. This princess gown is Reem Acra. I see what she was going for with her crimson shoes and matching lips, but I don’t like her styling at all. The slicked back hair does not go with this look. She was gorgeous at the Critics Choice Awards but this is a miss for her.
Sequins were big last night, as were retro silhouettes. Connie Britton’s aggressively Pink Elisabetta Franchi gown combined both in one fug package. It had shoulder pads, the color was awful, and the fit was very “loose disco dress.”

| Olivia Munn in Oscar de la Renta at the SAG Awards: sequin hit or miss? | Added 6 years ago | Source: CeleBitchy |

The more I hear from Olivia Munn lately, the more she grows on me. (This is surprising because her talking point for years was that she could be both attractive and funny, which was just dumb. She also showed up with a new face and attributed it to eating Japanese potatoes.) She was a fun host of the Critics Choice Awards and she had a cute bit last night with Niecy Nash introducing Outstanding Performance by a Male Actor in a Drama Series. (That bit went on too long, but I blame that on the writers, not those two.) Olivia was in an Oscar de la Renta gown which had a solid silver sequin top and a black skirt with a silver leaf design. I like the bust but the bottom is kind of tacky looking to me. Her hair and makeup look great though and she looked particularly flawless on camera.
Taylor Schilling was in Diane Von Furstenberg, in a black v-neck wrap gown with a huge white bow. DVF makes so many lovely dresses, but this isn’t a red carpet awards gown it’s a luncheon dress. Orange Is The New Black was nominated in two categories, for Ensemble in a Comedy Series and Female Actor in a Comedy Series for Uzo Adubo’s performance. Those categories went to Veep and to Veep’s Julia Louis-Dreyfus. OITNB is still airing on Netflix but it feels like it’s heyday has passed.
Also, how cute are Taylor and Natasha Lyonne together?!
Taylor’s costar Samira Wiley had on a Tadashi Shoji v-neck eggplant gown with a celestial theme print and a skirt which was slightly see through. It may look too busy in still photos, but on screen this was a perfect balance of whimsical print and gown. Tadashi Shoji almost always gets it right.
Look at Uzo Aduba in this Christian Siriano pale Pink grecian gown with a half cape draped down one of the shoulders. This is gorgeous and I love how the top is gathered perfectly.

| Margot Robbie in Miu Miu at the SAG Awards: too frothy or just fine? | Added 6 years ago | Source: CeleBitchy |

I don?t really feel sorry for Margot Robbie, even though she?s not winning anything this awards season. She?s getting nominated for I, Tonya and I think she?s happy with that, just as she?s happy to see Allison Janney win the awards. Margot produced I, Tonya, and I think all of this is what she wanted: she wanted the film to be discussed, she wanted the big nominations, and she wanted the film to make money. Everything else is just gravy. Plus, she?s dressing like a woman who just gets to have fun at the parties, as opposed to ?the sure-thing nominee who knows her dress will be photographed a million times.? Margot wore this frothy Miu Miu in a pale Pink (it read as off-white in some photos) with feathers. I don?t like this at all, but I have to admit, she looks gorgeous. She can pull off anything, honestly.
Allison Janney knows she?s going to win at this point, and so that?s why I can?t believe she chose this horrendous Yanina Couture gown. This is horrible! Horrible shoulders, horrible sleeves, horrible fit around the waist. Bad. (I still love her though.)
Holly Hunter was nominated for Supporting Actress too, for The Big Sick. She lost to Allison. She wore this Paule Ka dress which? I mean, I would not have chosen for her, but she looks fine. My issue is with her hair. Remember when she used to have dark hair? She?s been doing this weird, sketchy blonde shade for years and it?s awful.

| Mandy Moore in Ralph Lauren at the SAG Awards: perfect or poorly cut? | Added 6 years ago | Source: CeleBitchy |

Mandy Moore, Chrissy Metz and Susan Kelechi Watson from This is Us all had on shades of cobalt at the SAGs last night. Mandy was the best dressed, in my opinion, in this sequin Ralph Lauren slip dress with spaghetti straps. From some angles I didn?t like this and thought it fit her oddly but when I had a chance to see it on camera I loved it. The color is amazing.
This is Us won for Ensemble in a Drama Series and Sterling K Brown won for Male Actor in a Drama Series.
In contrast, Chrissy Metz was in a very fug tiered ruffled Kate Spade gown with clusters of flowers on the sleeve and coming down her boob area. Metz has worn some really lovely gowns on the red carpet. It’s not an issue of her size or her taste, this is just a lousy dress. She should work with a designer like Christian Siriano or Tadashi Shoji.
Susan Kelechi Watson is in Rubin Singer, in a gown that looks like so many others we’ve seen on the red carpet. That said, the detailing on this is exquisite and it fits her like a glove. She looks incredible.
I’m including Glow’s Betty Gilpin, in an impressing deep green spaghetti strap Rodarte featuring a lace belt that just cinched her figure. It flattered her perfectly. Over the weekend I watched the first episode of American Gods, which features Gilpin. It didn’t pull me in enough to want to finish the series but I like her so much as an actres. She has range.

| Nicole Kidman in Armani at the SAG Awards: gorgeous or bland? | Added 6 years ago | Source: CeleBitchy |

I used to constantly get distracted by the work Nicole Kidman was doing on her face, all of the Botox and fillers and whatever. Like, I couldn?t see past all of that stuff to even properly assess her fashion – those years are mostly a blur. But at some point, she calmed down with the injectibles and she?s back to wearing some amazing looks, like this bronzey-metallic Armani gown, which I absolutely love. And now I?m distracted by her husband, Keith Urban. Like, what?s going on with Keith Urban? He?s distracting. The wiglets, the ?90s highlights, the Botox, the face full of makeup. It?s sort of funny, actually?? Nicole won the SAG for Big Little Lies, because of course she did.
Reese Witherspoon wore a green Zac Posen. I tend to find Posen?s gowns to be overworked and this gown is no different for me. True, she looks beautiful in this rich green. But the actual design of the dress leaves me cold.
Laura Dern in Dior. I?m not feeling this – the skirt should be longer, the V-neck shouldn?t be so deep and she needed to do something different with her hair.
