She certainly knows how to spoil her loved ones, and Rihanna made a huge deal over her Grandfather Bravo while out in Manhattan last night (November 3).
The ?Umbrella? singer took her handsome grandpa to Philippe Chow restaurant for dinner to celebrate his 86th birthday and she looked happy as ever as she gave him a huge hug.
And of course, Ri-Ri was dressed to impress in a matching tunic sweater and trousers combo with some oversized hoop earrings and her favorite mini-purse from Louis Vuitton.
Rihanna has been a busy lady as of late, given her new perfume announcement, return to Instagram and ELLE December 2014 cover, so it?s wonderful to see that she still makes time for family.

It?s time for the midterm elections, and many of our favorite celebrities are urging fans to head to their local polling place and cast their vote.
Kim Kardashian uploaded a cartoon drawing of herself with President Barack Obama, stating that she?ll vote the way he would want her to- ?I?m standing w Obama in the midterm election 2morrow! Find out what u need to cast ur ballot.?
Additionally, Pharrell Williams wrote, ?Voting is a right we can't take for granted. If you want to make change, you have to act. Go to the polls and let your voice be heard,? while Queen Latifah tweeted, ?Make it your duty and use your power for GOOD to go out and vote today!?
Furthermore, Gabrielle Union declared, ?VOTE!!! Let your voice be heard... do not silence yourself. .. do NOT surrender!?
And Nikki Reed posted a photo of a voting sticker and a ballot label along with the message, I still carry these stickers in my wallet. Want to know why??? When we last checked in with Amanda Bynes, she had been released from a psychiatric facility on Thursday and she?s spent the last four days wandering around LA, talking to herself, eating a lot of food and trying to check into various hotels. Amanda?s parents got a conservatorship over her finances and medical care last week, but as of yet, Amanda still isn?t back in a psych facility. Then, last night, Amanda got on Twitter and tried to explain what?s happening:
Amanda Bynes announced that she has been diagnosed as bipolar and manic depressive and is taking medication. The former All That star revealed the news via her Twitter account early Tuesday morning.
“I was diagnosed bi – polar and manic depressive so I’m on medication and I’m seeing my psychologist and pyshchiatrist weekly so I’m fine ,” she tweeted. In a series of tweets, Amanda continued, “I’m not living with my parents. I’m not legally obligated to. My lawyer said if I comply with the courts and take my meds and see my psychologist and pyshchiatrist weekly then I will get unconserved. Thank GOD.”
In October, Amanda posted tweets alleging her father had verbally, physically and sexually abused her. She quickly retracted her claims and deleted the tweets. “My dad never did any of those things,” she wrote. “The microchip in my brain made me say those things but he’s the one that ordered them to microchip me.” She deleted that tweet, too. Shortly after, Amanda was hospitalized on an involuntary emergency psychiatric hold.
A conservatorship hearing was held while Amanda was hospitalized. A judge ruled that Lynne will have control over her financial and medical decisions pending a hearing set for Feb. 24, 2015. “I need to get an apartment and my parents won’t give me access to any of my funds,” Amanda, 28, tweeted Tuesday.
Amanda also tweeted that her parents have put her on a $50 a day stipend, but she has since deleted that post. “It’s really annoying,” the Hairspray star wrote of her alleged allowance.

To be fair, just this morning Amanda tweeted: ?I was at a friends apartment last night and one of my friends tweeted my phone , sorry guys !? Which might mean she?s about to delete all of the tweets about her bipolar diagnosis and claim that someone else wrote all of that stuff. And she might even be right ? I?m sure one of the ?friends? in Amanda?s head did write those tweets. I have no doubt that Amanda was diagnosed as bipolar and manic depressive, but I have EVERY doubt that she?s on her meds right now.

Keira Knightley covers the latest issue of The Edit (net-a-porter?s in-house online magazine), likely to promote The Imitation Game. Funnily enough, she doesn?t mention the film at all. Great promotion, Keira!! But it?s still a nice piece because Keira seemed to be in a funny, brassy kind of mood and she wanted to talk about feminism and Hollywood and sex. She doesn?t believe in fairytales: ?I left them behind. Why should you be told to wait for some f***ing dude to rescue you??
Why there are so many films about white dudes: ?The people who make movies, whether it?s directors or producers or money people, look for things that they can identify with and if they?re all predominantly middle-aged white men, then what you see are things that middle-aged white men can identify with. And you don?t get anything for anybody else.?
The idea of a baby girl: ?A friend of mine just had a daughter. It?s a political thing, having a baby girl, in a way that it isn?t for a boy. You think, ?Oh, isn?t this fairy-tale lovely?? Then suddenly you worry, ?What [expectation] am I planting with that? I don?t want her to be waiting around for a man to fix her problems.? Maybe it?s a bit silly, but because [gender] equality is going so hugely the other way, I think it probably does take being silly to try and swing it back round.?
Sex & violence in film: ?I?ve turned a lot [of roles] down because of it, mostly because of really overt sex and violence that is just, in my view, not justified. I?m not saying that there can?t be really interesting stories about sex and violence, but a lot of it I just think, ?This is gratuitous for the sake of being gratuitous, and you?d never ask a dude to do this.? It?s actually a difficult question: how much flesh are you meant to bare? What are we saying is appropriate or not appropriate? We?re saying that we should be sexually liberated but then again not that sexually liberated. It?s confusing.?
Turning 30 next year, adulthood: ?I don?t know, what?s that meant to feel like? There?s a concept of how you should be and I?m not sure anybody really fits into it. I hope they don?t, because I don?t feel like I do. I?m absolutely fine about it. I had a funny 22, I didn?t like that number. But 30, I?m alright with. With me, everything before 25 wasn?t so fun, but everything post has been great.

Keira talks here and there about kids, and I appreciate the fact that she?s not doing that tried-and-true ?yes, of course I?m going to get pregnant soon, I love babies, yay!? thing that so many actresses fall into. I get the feeling that Keira does like the idea of motherhood but she wants to wait and she?s working all of it out in real time, in interviews. She?s thinking about babies and when she should or could have them, but she hasn?t really made up her mind yet. That?s my theory.

She?s already busy plugging her new movie ?Annie? and Cameron Diaz just signed on to host ?Saturday Night Live? later this month.
The ?There?s Something About Mary? starlet will report to Rockefeller Plaza on November 22nd to handle the important duties.
Joining Cameron will be musical guests Bruno Mars and Mark Ronson, and the last time Mars was on SNL he did a little acting work as well.
Miss Diaz hasn?t hosted ?Saturday Night Live? since 2005 so we?ll see how her chops have improved over the past nine years!

Are you tired of the Rah Rah Feminism jag that every actress has been on lately? I don?t mind it, honestly. I?d much rather cover actresses talking about feminism than, say, what they eat or how they parent or how they were terribly uncool in their teen years. And while I find American Citizen ? Reese Witherspoon pretty unlikeable these days, I?ll admit that she has some interesting things to say from inside the Hollywood Machine. Reese is campaigning for that Oscar, hoping that she somehow gets a second Best Actress Oscar for her work in Wild. That seems to be where she?s positioning herself these days. Hilariously, the press surrounding her Oscar campaign is mirroring Matthew McConaughey?s campaign last year ? everybody has noticed it, and Reese is even using the same kind of McConaughey-esque language of ?I made a conscious effort to redirect.? Reese mixes it with a dash of feminism and voila! Oscar campaign! Here are some highlights from Reese?s New York Times interview:
Why she ?redirected? her career a few years ago: ?Other than one studio, literally one, nobody was developing anything with a female lead. It just hit me like a ton of bricks. And I was so mad. And then I thought: ?Why am I so upset about this? Why don?t I do something about it?? ?
The perils of being a likeable America?s Sweetheart: ?I?ve sat through millions of development meetings where people are like: ?We don?t want Reese to say profanity. We don?t want her to have sex. We don?t want her to take drugs.? I didn?t really feel the constraints of it until about three years ago, where I realized, ?I?m not this.? I?m a complex person that has so many different aspects in my personality. But somehow, I have this reductive experience where I?m put into this tiny little box. Likable. Can we scrub the likable box? And what is likable? To me, likable is human, and real, and honest. To me, I find the character in ?Wild? much more likable than a lot of characters I?ve played in comedy. She?s telling the truth. She?s not ashamed of the sexual experiences she?s had. She?s not ashamed of her drug use.?
Her 15-year-old daughter Ava: ?It?s interesting to see how men look at her now. And what kind of women is she looking at in film? Who are her heroes?? Beyond some of Jennifer Lawrence?s characters, in the ?The Hunger Games? and ?Silver Linings Playbook,? Ms. Witherspoon said, ?It?s pretty thin.?
On her performance in Wild: ?I said to my producing partner, ?If we can pull this off, this?ll be the first movie, I believe, I can?t recall, but that stars a woman that at the very end has no money, no man, no parents, no job, no opportunities, and it?s a happy ending.? How important, how needing of that, are we? How late to the party are we??
Feminism: ?We save ourselves. Every woman knows it. Every man knows it. You look up. Nobody?s coming to the rescue. It?s a universal story. But it?s revolutionary in the way that a woman is allowed to tell it.?

I?m fine with the message, but I do find the messenger questionable. The thing is? being ?likeable? is a gilded cage, I get that. But for women like Reese, like Jennifer Aniston and Jennifer Garner and Sandra Bullock and many more, likeability is extremely lucrative. It?s how many actresses build their resumes and their bank accounts. Likeability and relatability are two of the most powerful tools for celebrity women. But, as I said, likeability is a gilded cage. Many of those ?sweethearts? have tried to break out and get dirty (Reese even got arrested after bitching out a cop), and very few people are buying it. So, after so many years of being told that Reese is likeable, that she?s a sweetheart, that she?s just a down-home Southern girl and she could be your best friend? now Reese is turning her back on that image. All to save her career and possibly get another Oscar nomination. What do you think?

Sorry for all of the Annie Hathaway posts today! In my defense, we really needed to talk about the fug jewelry Anne?s husband designed for her at the LA premiere of Interstellar. Just as we need to discuss these photos ? Annie at the NYC premiere of Interstellar. Is it just me or has Anne?s style mojo taken a hit during this promotional tour? You know why? She fired Rachel Zoe, her long-time stylist. Say what you will about Rachel Zoe as a person, but Zoe managed to give Anne some BIG-impact fashion moments. I think they had a falling out after Annie?s Oscar dress disaster and their relationship never recovered.
Anyway, Annie wore this Rodarte look to last night?s New York premiere. I hate it. Most people refuse to admit that Rodarte really isn?t the best at designing flattering, pretty clothes, but maybe that?s the deal with Rodarte. You?re wearing ?art? not ?fashion.? Annie?s heels are Christian Louboutin ?Follies Resille? pumps. Meanwhile, Annie recently spoke about one her most celebrated films, The Devil Wears Prada. Apparently, Meryl Streep iced her out completely during filming:

Hathaway played a fresh-faced, frizzy-haired recent college grad who unexpectedly finds herself at a high-fashion magazine, assisting its icy editrix played by Meryl Streep. And in a new interview, Hathaway remembered what it was like embodying that kind of abusive professional relationship with the revered film star.
“When I met her she gave me a huge hug,” Hathaway recalled recently on The Graham Norton Show. “[A]nd I’m like, ‘Oh my god, we are going to have the best time on this movie.? And then she’s like, ?Ah sweetie, that’s the last time I’m nice to you.??
?She then went into her trailer and came out the ice queen and that was really the last I saw of ‘Meryl’ for months, until we promoted the film,? Hathaway said.
The Oscar-nominated actress made it very clear that Streep was merely staying in character between the scenes of the movie, which was based on Lauren Weisberger’s 2003 novel.
?She’s the most amazing, warm person,? Hathaway said of Streep, before adding that she would be up for doing a sequel of the film. ?Wouldn’t that be fun? I’d love to do that,? the Interstellar actress said, before adding a less-hopeful side note: ?But I don’t know if there is any plan for it.?

I could see Meryl going completely Method and treating Annie and Emily Blunt like dirt throughout filming. I?ve always thought Anne still seems sort of afraid of Meryl still, to this day. Ha! Also: I still watch that movie whenever it comes on TV. You know what? It holds up surprisingly well.

Rihanna covers the December issue of Elle. The publication’s editor’s letter plays up her fashion icon status, which yes, I agree that Rihanna can wear anything and look fierce. I don’t know why she keeps insisting upon wearing nothing. She showed almost everything at the CFDAs this year. I couldn’t even cover her outfit at Tom Ford’s amFAR gala because it was so booby. Rihanna is so sultry, and she’s completely sexy without always taking it off. Case in point: Most of this Elle shoot shows too much chest despite also highlighting lovely clothes. As we discussed yesterday, Angie Harmon and Jason Sehorn are over. They were married for 13 years, although the past four or five years have been particularly rough on them. Basically, they?ve been on the rocks ever since Angie signed on to Rizzoli & Isles, which films in LA, but then refused to move her family to LA from North Carolina. Harmon is a vocal conservative and she was often critical of the lack of family values (or whatever) in LA, which is why she worked in LA for seven months a year while Jason Sehorn raised their three daughters in North Carolina. As you can imagine, this issue has come out in the post-split analysis.
Another Hollywood heartbreak. After 13 years of marriage, Angie Harmon and Jason Sehorn announced they were calling it quits this past weekend. A source close to the actress tells Us Weekly that the split was actually a while in the making.
“A large part of it is when you spend five or six months a year away from your spouse, it gets really tough,” the insider tells Us of the pair, parents to daughters Finley, 11, Avery, 9, and Emery, 5.
The Rizzoli & Isles actress, 42, and Sehorn got accustomed to that distance. “In the beginning, they really missed each other,” the source recalls, “but then they got into a groove where one person took over the main responsibilities of parenting while the other was working.”
Harmon chose to raise their children in North Carolina, even while she had to film her TNT series in Hollywood. “She didn’t want them growing up in Hollywood and being exposed to the fast-paced life,” the insider tells Us, adding that it was the “greatest thing” she could have done for her children.
Ultimately, however, that distance for Harmon and the former NFL star, 43 ? who stayed mostly at home with the kids ? created tension. “The dynamic of the relationship changed,” the source tells Us. “Things were brewing.”
Still, the insider insists there was no cheating or other betrayal involved in the couple’s decision to separate. “They’re good, devout Christian people,” the source tells Us. “The split wasn’t shocking to their close friends.”
Harmon’s rep confirmed to Us Weekly that the two were “amicably” separating on Monday. “For the sake of their children, they ask for respect & privacy as they navigate this time in their lives,” the rep added.

I?m trying not to get too judgy and wallow in my schadenfreude, but O RLY?!?! I?m guessing that the best thing for those three little girls would have been having two ?good, devout Christian? parents who were there for them every day, even if it was in modern-day Gomorrah/Los Angeles. And now those little girls get to be pawns in their good, Christian parents? divorce and custody battle. Because everyone involved is so good and devout and Christian. To me, this is just throwing the baby out with bathwater ? this marriage literally failed because Harmon is so much of a conservative wingnut, she didn?t want to raise her kids in ?liberal? LA for five years so she barely saw her kids for like six months at a time.

Hayden Panettiere, 25, is expecting her first child with her fiance, boxing great Wladimir Klitschko. She’s due in December, according to the costume designer for her excellent show Nashville, on ABC. Mild spoiler for past episodes of Nashville Hayden’s character, country star Juliette Barnes, is pregnant on the show. Writers created a pregnancy storyline to accommodate for Hayden’s real life pregnancy, and it’s a good thing because you can really see that she’s pregnant, even though they try to avoid full length body shots. It’s clear that Hayden has gained some weight. She doesn’t look big or anything, you can just see the difference in her face. In a new interview with Hello!, Hayden reveals that she’s gained 40 pounds. She also said that she plans to lose it before she walks down the aisle. She’s so cute. Here’s more:
On how much weight she gained
I’m 5 feet, 2 inches and I started out at 106 pounds and guess how much I weight now? Around 145 pounds.
‘And the worst part is that my feet are still size five and they’re going, ”What’s going on with all this weight?” They’re about to snap from underneath me with the strain.’
‘I’m still quite muscular, so if you’re running around carrying 40 pounds of extra weight, you’re going to build extra muscle.’
She’s not getting married when she’s pregnant
‘I’ll tell you one thing for sure, I am not walking down the aisle 40 pounds heavier than usual in a wedding dress with a huge pregnancy belly stitched in. Not happening.’
She can’t wait to have her baby girl
‘I’m so ready to hold my baby girl – I’m going to be a very hands on mom.
‘I’m thrilled that I am having a girl first because I feel like I know a lot about raising a strong woman. I feel very empowered myself and I think my daughter will, too.’

Well I don’t blame her for not wanting to get married when she’s bigger. I did the same thing, I waited to get married until my baby was a few months old and I was feeling back to myself. At that point I still wasn’t back to my pre-pregnancy weight, but I was close. I gained 50 pounds when I was pregnant, but I’m 5’8?. I still felt huge! I had never been that large in my life, so I can’t imagine that Hayden is very comfortable.
Here’s a photo that Hayden tweeted for Halloween where she’s dressed up as a tiger and wearing a bikini. This is a Mariah Carey level pregnancy move, but it’s Halloween, she’s got great face paint and she used a lot of filters so it’s kind of artistic. Plus she barely tweets. She only tweeted twice in the month of October and once in September. She’s getting ready for that baby. I bet she and Wladimir can’t wait.

I can?t even tell you how much I hoped this would happen! Angelina Jolie covers the December issue of Vanity Fair. I was kind of hoping for a Vogue cover too ? Jolie is promoting Unbroken, which comes out on Christmas Day ? but maybe the other major mag covers will come for the January issues. This is Angelina?s first major magazine interview since marrying Brad Pitt in August. So? she has some stuff to say about her wedding, plus she talks about whether or not she would run for office (yay for this coming out on Election Day!). You can see VF?s exclusive here. In di Giovanni?s last meeting with Jolie, however, Jolie?s opinion seems to have shifted. When directly asked if she sees herself pursuing a life in politics, diplomacy, or public service, Jolie says, ?I am open.?
Showing the film to Louis Zamperini: Jolie was at Zamperini?s bedside for some of the last days of his life, and managed to show him an early cut of the film. ?It was an extremely moving experience,? she tells di Giovanni, in tears, ?to watch someone watching their own life . . . someone so physically strong . . . and they are at the stage where their body is giving up.? She continues, ?And yet we laughed together, and talked about his mom. And being a man of such faith, he talked about all the people he believed he would be seeing on the other side. And that it would bring him peace. After a life of fighting, he could rest.?
Zamperini?s last days: At one point, Jolie recalls, Zamperini seemed to be failing. Then, as if from some deep reservoir of resolve, he rebounded. ?[The doctors] said he was training to breathe on his own. And that?s what he always told me?you train, you fight harder than those other guys, and you win. You can take it. You make it.? At this point, Jolie grows more emotional, then collects herself. ?Poetically, he stayed 40 days and 40 nights.? And then he passed on.

I have mixed feelings about the possibility that Angelina could run for political office, or that she would take on a more politicized role. At this point, 13 years into her work with the UNHCR, Angelina has done an admirable job of keeping her personal political views close to the vest in order to be a more effective advocate for refugees. I think she has a lot of dirt in her past which would be used against her in a campaign? but I also think Angelina is very bright and she would run a fascinating political campaign. All that being said, not every politician campaigns for office. It?s possible that Angelina would rather have some kind of appointment as an ambassador or maybe some bureaucratic position high in the UN.

Last week, I covered these photos of Anne Hathaway at the LA premiere of Interstellar. I didn?t hate her Richard Nicholl gown, although it seemed sort of like one of those satin slipdresses that were so popular in the 1990s. In last week?s post, I also identified Annie?s jewelry as James Banks Designs. I even joked about how her husband, Skinny Jeans McGee, I mean Adam Shulman, is a self-proclaimed ?jewelry designer.? But I just found out that Shulman IS James Banks Designs. You can see the (budget) website here. So, he designed Annie?s awkward ?star? hand glove thing (plus the matching necklace). That?s why she was posing like the most awkward hand model in the world ? she was trying to create some buzz for her husband. You too can own a $980 monocle designed by ?Anne Hathaway?s husband.? So? what do you think of Adam?s gift for his lover? HA!
Speaking of love amongst the Hathahate, Annie has some thoughts about married life. She told The Daily Mirror that she wasn?t looking for anything serious after the mess with Raffaello Follieri. But then she met Adam:
?I got through my pain the way I always deal with unpleasant things and that?s to make a joke of it?. When we got married I thought it was a great party, but I honestly thought we were doing it more for tradition and I wasn?t prepared for the radical shift that my heart was going to have. Marriage isn?t for everyone but for me it has been the greatest spiritual journey I?ve been on. No matter what your dreams are, you?re always surprised by whatever life hands you. There?s a great quote that I love which says ?Regardless of desire, life hands you who you are.? I wish I knew who said that. It was a really cool person.?

If it?s really love, then good for them. I?m guessing that Shulman is a nice guy and he seems to adore her. But I sometimes get the feeling that Shulman is Cris Judd to Annie?s Jennifer Lopez: a starter/filler marriage until she gets to the next guy (Ben Affleck?!). Shulman is always going to be Mr. Anne Hathaway, no matter how many times she tries to make his jewelry line ?happen?. And I sometimes wonder if Anne sometimes wishes she had more drama in her life. But hey, maybe she?ll get pregnant and this marriage will last longer than I expect.

Following a whirlwind weekend in New York City, Heidi Klum hopped a plane and flew back to Los Angeles on Sunday (November 2).
The gorgeous German model smiled as she scurried through the terminal sporting a Cloud hoodie with distressed jeans and designer sunglasses.
On Friday night (October 31) Heidi hosted her 15th Annual Halloween Party at TAO Downtown in Manhattan, showing up as an elaborately-detailed butterfly.
She told press her kids thought the outfit was ?wild and crazy. They said, 'Are you really in there Mama?' They weren't scared at all but the one time that I [looked] like me but older, they were scared."
