Last week, we caught up on the Prince Andrew controversy that exploded everywhere in the new year. Virginia Roberts ? now an adult ? claims that back in 1999-2002, she worked as an underage prostitute for Jeffrey Epstein, and that Epstein ?loaned her out? to his famous and well-connected friends, including Prince Andrew. Roberts alleges that Andrew had sex with her when she was 16 or 17 years old. It?s a huge mess of accusations, denials, older scandals and competing lawsuits (Alan Dershowitz has also been accused of much of the same icky, gross acts as Andrew). I was surprised to see the story being covered on legit news shows (Chris Hayes did a big segment on it), and I guess we can talk about it so openly because Buckingham Palace did comment on the story specifically, denying all accusations made by Roberts.
And now Sarah Ferguson is defending her ex-husband. These two? I don?t know. I?ve always sort of liked the way they still seemed so close, although in the past few years, I?ve realized more and more that they?re united in sleaze. They?re both desperate for money and that?s what unites them. Anyway, Fergie appeared on the Today Show to talk about her weight loss scheme and she ended up talking about the scandal:

Fergie calls Andrew her ?best friend? and ?my best ex-husband ever.? She says: ?I won’t stand by – because I know what it feels like to have salacious lies made up about you – and not support him so publicly? he?s a great father and humongously good man? these were shockingly accusatory allegations which I don’t think are right. I won’t stand by and have his character defamed. I will have not one word said about him on any level, any level.?
Oh, and once again Matt Lauer bungles another interview. There was SO MUCH he could have called her out on. Fergie is trying to paint Andrew as Britain?s great savior, like he?s some brilliant businessman wrestling the British economy to the top. And when Fergie deflects and says that Lauer should just ask Andrew if he?s ever met Virginia Roberts, that was the opening to really get in there. Eh. Whatever. The more the royals deny this crap, the more I believe Andrew totally had sex with an underage girl.

It?s going to be a romantic year for Usher, as he just got engaged to Grace Miguel, his longtime girlfriend and business partner. According to Us Weekly, the ?You Remind Me? crooner recently proposed and for now they?re not going public with the betrothal.
An insider explained, ?She?s happy but they?re trying to keep it quiet.? As for the left-hand bling, ?You wouldn?t think it was an engagement ring because it?s so big.?
Back in October, Usher told Billboard magazine, "I have an incredible partner and manager. She has helped me through some of the hardest times in my life and my career. She?s someone who?s been able to support and understand all of who I am. Not just as a dancer or as a performer or as a singer, but as a humanitarian and a business man and as a person."

Kim Kardashian scored another Vogue cover! Don?t freak out though. It?s just Vogue Australia. I mean, Vogue Australia is still a ?get? for someone like Kim, but it?s not as prestigious as American Vogue. Do you think Anna Wintour will ever put Kim on American Vogue again? I wouldn?t put it past Wintour, honestly. For what it?s worth, I think this Vogue Aust shoot is much prettier than Kim?s American Vogue shoot. It was actually done in Australia too, I guess when Kim was promoting her stuff in Sydney and Melbourne a few months ago. Here are some highlights from the interview:
On her fame: “I always wanted to be famous?I will not bite the hand that feeds me.?
On Kanye: “We are absolute best friends; we know every last thing about each other [...] We have good communication, and I think that’s so important in a relationship, and we have so much fun together. We’re obsessed with our family, we love our daughter so much. We’re kind of obsessed with each other. We’ll be at a party, and it might seem like the best party, and we’re whispering to each other: ‘Let’s just go home’, because we want some alone time.”
She wants privacy for North: “I like sharing my world with people. Although I wish there could be just maybe a little bit more privacy just for our daughter. But it is what it is. She’s going to grow up to be a strong girl.”

Yeah, I have my doubts as to whether Kim really wants North to ever have any privacy. Kim posts photos of North all over social media. North poses for magazines. North goes to runway shows in Paris. Despite Kanye?s complaints, North West is being raised as America?s Baby. As for Kim and Kanye being ?obsessed? with each other? so obsessed, in fact, that they?ve barely spent three consecutive days and nights together since they got married.

Do you think Angelina Jolie was genuinely disappointed that Unbroken wasn?t recognized for more awards at more major awards shows? I do. I don?t think that her disappointment was soul-crushing or anything, but I bet she had a glass of wine and complained to Brad about it. Of course, screening Unbroken for a papal audience probably helped. As did the box office ? Unbroken has already made more than $100 million in the domestic box office. Still, she?s disappointed. Why is this a thing?
Sources at the Golden Globes were buzzing on Sunday night that Angelina Jolie was pained that she and her film ?Unbroken? were snubbed.
?Angelina?s hurt,? said one source. ?She?s been upset that the film was overlooked.?
Jolie?s movie, as well as Clint Eastwood?s ?American Sniper,? were surprisingly shut out of the Globes.
When asked why Jolie was left out, one Hollywood Foreign Press Association member told us, ?A few years ago, she would have been in,? meaning that the Globes would then have been wowed by star power alone. But he said the voters this year felt that the film didn?t measure up.
Then again, ?Unbroken? has gained some steam with other organizations heading into the Oscars, including being named the AFI Awards? movie of the year. The National Board of Review also gave the film?s Jack O?Connell some love.
It remains to be seen if Jolie will get her revenge when Oscar nominations are announced on Thursday.

Sure. A few years ago, Angelina did get invited to the Globes for no reason when she was nominated for The Tourist (a film I still defend, although it did bomb). I really don?t understand how the Globes could recognize her performance in The Tourist? but not Maleficent? Anyway, I think it?s pretty standard for people to feel ?hurt? or ?upset? that they didn?t get nominated for something. Michael Fassbender was hurt that his performance in Shame didn?t get recognized with an Oscar nomination, and he declared afterwards that he would never campaign again. I hope we don?t hear similar proclamations from Angelina if the Oscar nominations don?t go her way. Which I?m thinking they won?t. If anything, I think Ava DuVernay and Selma are going to hijack the Oscar nominations on Thursday.

Anna Kendrick covers the February issue of Nylon. It?s a bad shoot, right? Well, not bad so much as dated. Some of the photos are straight out of the ?90s, some are early ?00s. I don?t get why this stuff is making a comeback. Don?t get me wrong, the ?90s were awesome, but style-wise, I?m glad we?ve grown as a society. As for Anna?s interview? as I?ve been saying, she?s grown on me a lot over the past year. I actually buy her ?I was a nerdy theater geek kid? routine. She genuinely seems like the grown-up version of the nerdy musical-theater girl. Lea Michele has a similar vibe, but Lea doesn?t seem to have matured past that high school mentality whatsoever. Anyway, here are some highlights from Nylon:
She ?doesn?t give a f?k? about her tweets: “Twitter is only 140 characters. There’s really not that much I could reveal, then regret later. Of course, me being me, the tweets I want to take back are the ones that I think could’ve been punchier or more concise.?
Tweeting about her Ryan Gosling crush: “Thank God I’ve never been in a room with him! I don’t feel embarrassed, though. I’m sure he has a sense of humor. But I’d probably feel like I’d have to address [the tweet], and I’d end up saying something to make it much, much worse.”
She never got attention from the boys: “The great torture from my teen years into my mid-20s was trying to get attention from guys who were not interested in me?like, at all. So I’m happy that now my type is a nice guy who likes me back.”
A late bloomer: “I was a very late bloomer. I was the smallest in my class, always telling myself, ‘I’m never getting boobs!’ I remember being comforted by hearing that guys like small boobs and big boobs. They like any boobs!’ At the time I was like, ‘That is excellent news!’”
She prefers people with a little self-doubt: ?I hope I don?t ever get the feeling that I?m the cool girl. I think self-doubt is healthy. It pushes you, and humbles you, and I would really hate to be one of the three people in the f–king universe who are actually well-rounded, because then you can?t relate to anybody else?s inner s–t. Sometimes I meet people who are too confident. I?m like, ?I don?t even like being around you. You?re boring. Get a neurosis, and then we?ll talk.??

That self-doubt part seemed very Woody Allen to me. I mean, it sounded like dialogue from a Woody Allen movie. I?m pretty sure Woody has written a line similar to that before: never trust a person without neuroses. That kind of mindset isn?t really my cup of tea though ? I don?t trust people who wear their neuroses on their sleeve. Keep it bottled up, like the rest of us emotionally stunted robots.
Also ? there was a rumor that Anna was secretly dating her Into the Woods costar Chris Pine. That rumor was denied though. I don?t think she?s his type, and he seems like too much of a bad-boy for her.
