Taking a beat to chat about her coveted bod, Jessica Alba covered the October 2013 issue of Health magazine.
The mother of two rocked a sexy red dress for the Marc Baptiste-shot spread as she opened up about her former body woes and starting up her Honest brand.

When you started this company, you were already a movie star. Was it daunting to try something completely new?
?There were certainly moments when it was scary. The day we launched, I was like, Is anyone even going to go to our website [honest.com]? Our distribution is mainly the Internet. It took me about three years of people telling me I was crazy and that there's no way it could ever happen before I found the partners who could balance my weaknesses.?
What's your mantra of the moment?
?Breathe. I swear. It's been so hectic. And I've been doing more work in movies and on television lately.?
Is the fulfillment you get through your company different from what you get through acting?
?Oh, yeah. My decisions here affect more than just me. It's a lot of pressure. This is intense. This is important. This is time-consuming. When I do a movie or a television show, I have control over so little of it. So I've found, lately, that it's so much more fulfilling to be a lot more risky with my acting choices.?
People always seem to be trying to lose weight in Hollywood. Has your attitude on diets shifted?
?To me, it's knowing that if you eat unprocessed fresh food?it doesn't all have to be organic, but try to have the least amount of GMOs [genetically modified organisms] and pesticides?you have energy, aren't starving and don't have to count calories. When I'm "dieting," I'm not eating as many snacks?because I love snacks. [Laughs] Popchips, Pirate's Booty?or I could eat a pound of fruit. So I cut down on snacking when I'm trying to be healthy.?
These days, do you feel differently about your body?
?I was a lot more critical of my body when it was probably pretty awesome. It's like, why did I not ever wear jean shorts? That's so crazy. I was so skinny! I didn't have any cellulite...what was I thinking?! I was more willing to wear short skirts after I had my kids. I never wore them before. Ever. I was so self-conscious. But I remember I was 28 or 29, at an MTV award thing, and my girlfriend Kelly was like, "You should wear a short skirt, because you are not going to be this age forever." Now I'm a lot more confident in my skin?because who cares? At the end of the day, it's so much time spent on something that really doesn't matter that much.?

Miley Cyrus performed at the iHeartRadio Music Festival in Las Vegas over the weekend and, unlike her appearance at the MTV VMA Awards, she kept it a lot more elegant. She arrived wearing a conservative outfit made of netting and pasties. She then changed into a corset type outfit during her performance and showed everyone her camel toe. It was an all-around classy affair.

Putting a whole new spin on the sci-fi film genre, Scarlett Johansson plays the hottest alien of all time in the forthcoming flick ?Under the Skin.?
The ?We Bought a Zoo? babe is featured in a new teaser trailer for the movie, also starring Paul Brannigan, Jessica Mance, Joe Szula, and Krystof Hadek.
Directed by Jonathan Glazer, ?Under The Skin? has received killer reviews at all the film festivals, including Toronto, Telluride, and Venice.
Per the synopsis, ?An alien seductress preys on hitchhikers in Scotland.? And according to the studio, portions of the film were shot without the prior knowledge of the men being approached.

Miley Cyrus kept herself hidden most of last week after her breakup from Liam Hemsworth. In contrast, he stepped out right away with a new lady before flying out of LAX midweek. Now he’s on the Mockingjay set where he’ll have to memorize more than two lines for the last two Hunger Games movies.
Miley made her first post-breakup appearance at the iHeartRadio festival on Saturday. She wore all while again because she’s “ on a whole other level of sh-t” than we are with fashion. She also cried at the end of “Wrecking Ball” (you can see that video here). Some outlets are calling it a “breakdown.” The speculation is that Miley was weeping about Liam. Maybe she was, but the song isn’t about Liam because Miley didn’t even write it. I think Miley’s a better actress than anyone gives her credit for being. Maybe she figured everyone else was thinking about Liam. Hence the tears. I hope she’s not really crying about him.
During her four-song set, Miley danced with little people, mushrooms, and flowers. She said her videos are “getting me in trouble,” but “it’s just me doing what my heart and soul is telling me to do. Everything is inspired by the music.” Here her heart and soul told her to give herself a massive front wedgie. Miley later changed into an even more risqu second outfit. I’ve included those photos at the bottom of this post.
Several new stories are popping up about Liam’s new “girlfriend,” Eiza Gonzales. They only met about a week ago in Vegas, and he left LA on Wednesday for work. That hasn’t stopped Eiza from telling friends “they are in love.” A source in Miley’s camp says she’s insulted at the Liam-Eiza PDA because Liam was always on “this soapbox about keeping things private, now he?s breaking his own rules.” There’s an undercurrent of outlets digging into Eiza’s sketchy past. Many sites are also pointing out her (radical?) plastic surgery. Over the weekend, a reporter asked Eiza about Liam, and she left the room during a press conference. Eiza then locked her Twitter account. Huh.
Speaking of jumpoffs, some unfounded rumors are circling about Miley and her producer, Mike WiLL Made it. The Mail thinks that Miley has “confirmed” a relationship with Mike (or is it WiLL?) because she hugged him after her iHR performance. They also posed together months ago at Terry Richardson’s house of horrors. I don’t see it, but I could be wrong. Miley also hugged Justin Timberlake at the festival. I guess they’re doing it too. Someone tell Jessica Biel.
Miley’s second outfit of the evening was a disaster. She basically wore a black-and-white thong and black pasties covered in a mesh dress with furry arms. Look at Miley, everyone! That’s all she wants in life.

Kaley Cuoco looked fantastic at the Emmys last night, didn’t she? This Vera Wang dress might not look like much in still photos. When Kaley was shaking it around a bit on the red carpet, it moved beautifully. The dress was impossibly well tailored to Kaley’s figure. The sheer panel around the tummy area would have looked odd if not for the structured lines. What a great dress. The clutch was also matchy matchy in a good way. Oddly enough, I think that Kaley’s underdone hair was just right for this gown. Would it kill her to smile though? She always wears a smirk.
Kaley accessorized with her new tennis boy, Ryan Sweeting, who refused to take off his sunglasses. He looked like a douche. I guess they’re pretty serious if she took him to the Emmys. She looks almost as awkward with this guy as she did with Henry Cavill.
Mayim Bialik will always be the nerdy girl. A very cute nerdy girl. Mayim wore a green Oliver Tolentino couture dress that suited her well. The sheer sleeves were a perfect way to add some drama without veering into trashy territory. Those curls are so glamourous! This is a great look for her.
Carla Gugino absolutely killed it in this red Georges Chakra dress that clung in all the right places. She looks like a gorgeous torch singer, and her hair and makeup are impossible to criticize. Every detail is just as it should be. This is my favorite look of the night, and I don’t know why people don’t pay more attention to Carla in general. I want to look half this fantastic at age 45.
Julia Louis-Dreyfus won the Emmy for Best Actress in a comedy, but her dress was surprisingly boring. This Monique Lhuillier was so bland and shapeless. Julia can and has done so much better on the red carpet. Julia’s smile looks fantastic though. That’s always her best accessory.
Rose Byrne looked rather fragile in this pale Pink dress from the Calvin Klein Collection. I love the simple lines of Calvin, and this dress is no exception. Something is off, right? The blonde hair. Rose must have gone lighter for a role, but it washes her out. With her usual brunette, this would have been a smashing look.
Leslie Mann looks like she’s trying to be young and funky. The pattern on this dress is different than Leslie’s usual cookie cutter looks, but she’s just not pulling it off. The optical illusion is hurting my eyes.

I love to see Monique Lhuillier dresses on the red carpet. They’re risk-taking yet usually flattering (with some misses). That’s why it pains me to see Anna Faris in this otherwise gorgeous Lhuillier gown. It’s just the wrong color for her and washes her out. Plus, her makeup is poorly done. In a darker color, with more flattering makeup, this dress would have been stunning.
Malin Akerman wore pale blue tulle Marchesa which somehow worked. The dress is Marchesa yet it’s not completely fug (see: Kerry Washington), Malin’s styling is spot on, and I love her jewelry. Have you seen Malin’s new show on ABC, Trophy Wife? There are a lot of decent actors in it, including Marcia Gay Harden and Bradley Whitford, but it was too dumb for me to enjoy. I only saw the pilot though, maybe it gets better.
Laura Dern was in Pink Naeem Khan. This dress is very pretty and flattering on her. I love the detail in the embroidery work especially. Dern was nominated for lead actress in a comedy, for Enlightened, which went to Julia Louis-Dreyfus for Veep. (Dern won the Globe for that role last year.) I watched Enlightened up until this season. It’s a decent show it just got uncomfortable for me. You don’t know whether to root for Dern’s character or hope she comes to her senses.
Taylor Schilling of Orange is the New Black was in simple white Thakoon with some awesome gold jewelry. She looks great but I didn’t recognize her at all! If you subscribe to Netflix streaming and haven’t yet seen Orange is the New Black you should give it a chance. It’s a dramedy set in a women’s prison and is created by Jenji Kohan, the creator of Weeds.
Schilling was actually in Argo, she played Ben Affleck’s wife, but her role got cut substantially. She told E! that she was disappointed but that Jennifer Garner helped her get over it.

January Jones sort of phoned it in this year, didn?t she? Our Lady of Ice-Cold Vanilla Bitchery felt like being nice to the peasants who love to hate-watch her fashion choices. January did not deliver some high-fashion statement ?look? nor did she go all out with some avant-garde designer. For last night?s Emmys, January wore this dusty rose-beige Givenchy gown. January even had ?Old Hollywood? styling ? she looked like a 1940s movie star from the neck up. From the neck down? well, I thought the dress was boring and beneath her normal standards. Who even expected January to wear a completely normal dusty rose dress? WITH LACE?
I saw January on the E! Red Carpet show, and when they did the full-body glam cam, it seemed like the skirt was a lot stiffer than I was expecting. Is it just me or is this lace not really ?lace?? Like, I think it might be some kind of leather-treated fabric or something. Anyway, I guess it sort of works if you wanted January to do an uncontroversial look. My biggest problem is that band at the bottom of the dress ? it makes the dress look like a repurposed curtain.
And on the other side of the battle royale between Don Draper?s wives, we have Jessica Pare in Oscar de la Renta. I guess Jessica is trying to become the new Mad Men woman to hate-watch. I?m sorry, but this dress looks like a repurposed bridesmaid?s dress, right? SO MUCH TAFFETA. Her makeup and hair look good though.

Tina Fey brought it big time at the Emmys in a royal blue Narciso Rodriguez dress that showed off her amazing hips to perfection. Sometimes I forget that Tina has such a great figure, but there’s no mistaking it in this dress. The fabric is also great with just a hint of shine and a body-hugging factor that doesn’t look cheap. The mini train is perfect, and Tina owns this look.
Tina (along with Tracey Wigfield) also won the Emmy for Outstanding Writing for a Comedy Series for her work on 30 Rock. That makes her a double winner. Her hair and make up are also pretty great. I would have maybe tried an updo for a little more adventure.
Jane Krakowski wore a shiny blue Zac Posen number and looked really cute. This is a different look for Jane, who is fond of spangly gold or yellow gowns. She’s shaking it up a bit, and it looks good. The bust detail is just right and doesn’t look all “shelfy” or “eyeglassy” like several other gowns last night. The fabric is a bit wrinkly at the bottom, but that’s hard to avoid.
Amy Poehler looked very beautiful but failed to reach her ultimate potential in this black Basler dress. She could be such a bombshell, but this dress is just awful. The cut is all wrong. I have no idea what’s going on with the gold hip ornaments. Oh Amy.
Aubrey Plaza looked very prim and proper in Marios Schwab. This is a very conservative look for an award show red carpet, no? I don’t like it at all. The fabric is fine, but the cut looks like something that a pilgrim would wear to the Emmys.
Heidi Klum continues her general trend of being the worst dressed supermodel in history. That’s probably too harsh. Compared to most of Heidi’s looks, this wine-colored Versace dress isn’t bad. The neck detail looks a bit uncomfortable, but I’m just glad her rack isn’t hanging out everywhere. I wish I had her glowing skin.
Padma Lakshmi looked like a dream in this white Kaufman Franco dress. The silhouette by itself would be a little boring, but the strategic side cutout adds some much needed drama. The back view is pretty amazing and sexy.

I?m choosing to make Julie Bowen the lead lady of this Modern Family-fashion post, mostly because I think Sofia Vergara has exhausted everyone at this point and because Sofia?s dress was super-boring. I think Julie Bowen is very talented and very pretty, but her style is? out there. She once said that she shares a stylist with Kristen Stewart, and I think we need to recommend another name for poor Julie. At the end of the day though, I kind of love that Julie always gets it wrong. She?s dependable. She never really looks glamorous ? she always looks like a harried mom who didn?t have time to pick out a flattering dress. That?s appealing.
Anyway, Julie wore this Pink Zac Posen. It would have been okay? on Sarah Hyland. It?s just too frilly, girly and cutesy for Julie. I guess I have to give her a slow-clap for proper tailoring though. It fits like a glove and that?s something.
Here?s Sofia Vergara in Vera Wang. Blah. Boring. She wears versions of this same dress all the time. Even the red color seems budget. And the jewelry was too much, too big. Maybe I?m old-school, but I don?t think you should pair emeralds with a red dress ? it?s too Christmasy.
When I saw Sarah Hyland on the red carpet, I was sort of horrified to see what someone had to done to this young woman. Sarah is only 22 years old ? there?s no reason for her to wear this old-lady-lace Carolina Herrera. There?s no reason for a 22-year-old to wear this much makeup. The whole thing seems like an old-timey whorehouse costume.

Julianne Hough went to this year’s Emmys with her brother, which is a good strategy for a single woman formerly known as “the girlfriend of” a media mogul. (That’s Ryan Seacrest of course, even though he seems young for the mogul title.) She wore this gray-ish Jenny Packham see-through gown which looks like a slip worn over granny panties. Something nice: the off the shoulder top is very cute and would go well with a standard loose skirt that left her undergarments to the imagination. I like the subtle sequins on the fabric. As it is, there’s some kind of diagonal cutout at the waist, her legs are fully visible and it looks like she’s wearing a bathing suit with a coverup. Her face here says it all.
Hough’s makeup is great though and I really like the risk she took with her hair.
Let’s move on to some of the American Horror Story ladies. This seems just as good a place as any to put them although they’re > Julianne Hough, especially Jessica Lange. Lange worked a black floor length Escada gown with feather-like sequin detail on the bodice. This is a killer dress, I absolutely love it. Lange was nominated for outstanding lead actress in a miniseries or a movie, which went to Laura Linney for The Big C. (Lange already won an Emmy last year for AHS in the supporting actress category.)
Lange’s costar and friend Sarah Paulson was nominated for outstanding supporting actress, which ultimately went to Ellen Burstyn for Political Animals. Paulson ruled the red carpet in deep v-neck red Carolina Herrera. The bow around the waist might be goofy if it had a pattern or were a different color from the dress, but somehow it works.
Kate Mara wasn’t on AHS apart from the first season, but I’m sticking her here anyway. Mara is in House of Cards and was there to support that show. She was in white lattice stripe J. Mendel with a high slit. I don’t like her plain pin straight hair behind her ears, and I don’t like this dress. It’s very 70s crochet. At least Kate is smiling a little and looks to have a sense of humor about her fashion, unlike her sister.

I must have been the only person who wasn?t worked up about Claire Danes? haircut at last night?s Emmys. Yes, she had longer hair just a few weeks ago and yes, I think longer hair suits her. But it?s not like we?ve never seen her with a bob before! She used to rock a bob all the time. At this point in her life, the bob doesn?t look all that ?fresh? though. It looks more like a mom-haircut. Which is fine. She?s a mom now.
Claire won Best Actress in a Drama last night for Homeland. Her gown is Armani Prive? and that was what I was looking at, not her hair. Claire is very thin. She?s always been very thin. It?s just her body type, and it?s fine. But the dress accentuated one of the most uncomfortable parts of Claire?s thin frame: her very bony chest plate. Maybe if there had been more fabric and coverage in the breast area, I would have liked this dress. As is, it just seems? blah. Not right for Claire.
Two other Homeland ladies ? a glowingly pregnant Morena Baccarin in Alexander McQueen and her screen-daughter Morgan Saylor in Honor. Morena looks beautiful! Morgan looks great too, I just hope we don?t see much of Morgan in this new season.

My lord, did you see Christina Hendricks on the E! Red Carpet special? When you see her live and in motion, her breasts are really spectacular. Like, you can?t look anywhere else. Even Ryan Seacrest was having problems looking at her face. For my money (and considering the affection I have for Christina and her rack), I thought this was one of Christina?s best awards-show looks ever. Her gown is a custom-made Christian Siriano. He?s the little designer from Project Runway, and Christina has worn Siriano?s gowns many times before. The dress is incredibly flattering to Christina?s hourglass figure and it doesn?t feel like it?s all boob, you know?
