Rose Byrne and Bobby Cannavale have been together for years. They have two kids together, Rocco (5) and Rafa (3), and they live happily in Brooklyn. Only Rose got work in Australia during the pandemic, so they?ve spent a huge chunk of the past sixteen months in Sydney. Rose is currently promoting her AppleTV series Physical, which is why she chatted with the Sydney Morning Herald about the show, the pandemic and about whether she and Bobby will ever get married.
Leaving New York in the early days of the pandemic: ?It was scary, trying to figure out how to get out and be safe. And no one knew anything, right? We were all in this boat of, ?What is this?? It was a very, very weird atmosphere in the city. Bobby and I went to see Girl from the North Country on Broadway, then, two days later, Broadway shut, and by that weekend it was awful. All of a sudden there was this tsunami, tidal wave, of this fearsome thing coming, then it just arrived and it was like, ?Whoa.? Then people we knew started to get it. Bobby lost friends.?
Her show ?Physical?: ?The whole [show] to me was so interesting. ?The two worlds, the duality; the duality of the aerobics world and her oppressive marriage, her illness, her terrible relationship with herself. And it felt almost like a companion piece to Mrs America, because it starts in 1981 while Mrs America finished in 1980, so it was a clear through line for me, of the disillusionment a lot of women felt after the women?s movement.?
Moving to LA at the age of 18: ?It?s an overwhelming city, but I had friends. Heath [Ledger] was a good friend of mine. We?d done a film together [Two Hands in 1999] and he was incredibly generous. He would take me under his wing and help me out for those first few years, always getting me in, auditioning for his movies, putting me up at his house.?
On Heath?s death: ?I mean, listen, it?s obviously a tragedy. We had come over here together, then his career went like a freight train and ? it?s so sad. He had an electric kind of energy.?
Whether she?ll ever marry Bobby: ?I keep going, ?Let?s get around to it, let?s do it.? And then, you know, you have a baby, and then, oh, there?s another baby. It was kind of like that for us. I love weddings, and I know people [for whom] it?s an important thing, and I respect that totally. I guess for us it?s just been, we didn?t do it, we?ll do it, then ? no! Pandemic.?
They?ll go back to Brooklyn eventually: ?Brooklyn is home.?

They?ve been together nine years already! I think they?ll probably just be one of those couples to never marry. Which is fine! But just say that, I guess. Because Bobby and Rose could easily, you know, just get married tomorrow in Sydney with her parents there and their kids and it would be fine. They?re choosing not to. How you can not marry Bobby Cannavale??! That man is a smokeshow. As for what she said about Heath? I had no idea they were that close. That made me really sad.

Rose Byrne is an in-demand actress who works constantly and consistently. She had one low-key pregnancy and gave birth to son Rocco with her partner Bobby Cannavale and she even got jobs during her pregnancy. Throughout her career, she?s almost always had brown hair for almost all of her roles. I think she?s had a few jobs where she was a redhead, maybe. My point is that I?ve never seen her with blonde hair before, and I was so startled by the color change that I didn?t recognize her and I though Bobby was dating someone new.
Bobby and Rose attended last night?s opening-night party for the play Lifespan Of a Fact, which is (I think) Bobby?s new play. They live in New York and Rose has completely immersed herself in New York life with Bobby and Rocco, by the way. She?s basically Italian-American at this point, despite the fact that she?s really just an elegant-looking Aussie girl. It was at this opening night party that Rose debuted her blonde locks. Is this for a role? I don?t know she has three films in post-production on her IMDB page, so maybe.
I?m obsessed with trying to figure out who she looks like, because she absolutely does not look like Rose Byrne. From some angles, she suddenly looks like Ellie Goulding, right? Also: her dress in these photos is Les Coyotes de Paris.

Rose Byrne and Bobby Cannavale really fly undercover as a couple ? even their fans might not even realize that they?re together and have been since 2012, and most people didn?t even realize that Rose got knocked up last year. They?re actually a great study in celebrities going undercover without even hiding anything. They would talk about each other in interviews, they would walk red carpets together and media outlets reported on her pregnancy, but Bobby and Rose are so low-key, I think most people just forgot.
Anyway, Rose gave birth to a Cannavale Baby one week ago. Bobby announced the birth when he appeared on The Late Show with Stephen Colbert. They had a boy and they named him Rocco. Rocco Cannavale is a very Italian name, right? When Colbert asked if the name choice was for Saint Rocco (who is a real saint, I checked), Bobby said: ?Actually, yeah, patron saint of the sick…pretty sure. Could be wrong. I’m tired.”
Rocco is Bobby?s second child and Rose?s first. Bobby was previously married to Jenny Lumet (Sidney Lumet?s daughter) and they have a son, Jake, together. Rose and Bobby are not married and I don?t think they?re engaged either. Bobby?s 45 years old (fantastic genes) and Rose is 36.

Here are Olivia Munn & Rose Byrne stepping out for lunch together on Thursday in West Hollywood, California.
Rose wore a loose short-sleeved floral maternity dress that showed her bump for the outing, which she teamed with a pair of sensible dark blue gladiator sandals and accessorised with sunglasses.
Olivia rocked a pair of skintight black skinny jeans along with a black tank-top and open-toed black heels.

I like Rose Byrne a lot, although I rarely write about her. It?s sort of weird how she works all the time, she?s an in-demand actress in comedy and drama, yet she almost completely flies under the radar at a gossip-level. She?s with Bobby Cannavale (HOT) and she?s in the new Paul Feig film, Spy, reuniting her with her Bridesmaids costar Melissa McCarthy. Rose has seemingly been happy to have Melissa take over the bulk of the film?s promotion, but Rose did sit down for a feature in the new issue of the online magazine Violet Grey. You can see the full piece here ? the editorial is all about makeup and glitter. The interview is pretty interesting though.
Rose on beauty: ?Beauty comes from within. It?s a clich, but I think it?s true. However, in this business, it?s hard to reconcile that when you?re constantly being told things about your appearance, whether it?s that you are too pretty or too plain or too brunette or whatever the problem is.?
Her makeup regimen: ?Well, goodness me. Growing up, my mum never wore a lot of makeup, she was very natural. However, it?s important to take care of yourself and it doesn?t hurt to put on a bit of lipstick. I discovered I was allergic to all these chemicals and we put together a very strict bible of all the products I could use. I actually wear makeup every day. I use a NARS tinted moisturizer. I love those Fresh lip stains. I wear them religiously. They are terrific in a berry color. I try to put on a hat if I can.
Skin care and genetics: ?In Australia, there is such a high rate of skin cancer that it?s really beaten into us at an early age to be careful about our skin. Although, you know, my boyfriend smokes cigarettes and doesn?t drink water and has better skin than anybody that I know! He?s half-Cuban and half-Italian. He?s like, “Dios mo! It?s genetic, it doesn?t matter.? So why am I trying??
All women are more scrutinized for their looks: ?Absolutely! Increasingly! Look at Hillary Clinton. She has to spend time getting her hair and makeup done whereas a male candidate doesn?t have to do that as much. Or at least as much grooming. It really is this very old concept that we are valued for putting ourselves together and presenting ourselves.?
A beauty look that she won?t try: ?Brown lipstick. The 90s may be back, but I?m still recovering from that look.?

I?ve never understood the desire to wear makeup every day! My mom is like this too ? she will never, ever leave the house without putting on makeup. And she really doesn?t look different at all without makeup, which makes it extra crazy. Also: Bobby doesn?t drink water and he smokes? That will catch up to him at some point, although his genetics are helping him right now (Dios mo!).

It?s one of the biggest nights of the year for the television industry, and Rose Byrne looked like she was ready to have a good time as she arrived at the 65th Primetime Emmy Awards on Sunday evening (September 22).
The ?Bridesmaids? starlet was all smiles as she meandered around outside the Nokia Theatre in Los Angeles, showing off her designer duds as fans and photographers looked on.
And while the red carpet action was plenty spicy, things are really heating up inside the venue as the trophies are getting ready to be handed out.
One of the most-watched categories of the evening will be Outstanding Lead Actor in a Drama in which Bryan Cranston, Damian Lewis, Jon Hamm, Jeff Daniels, Kevin Spacey, and Hugh Bonneville are all nominated.
