Early last week, we heard that Modern Familys Julie Bowen had helped rescue a fan who had fainted while hiking. Julie was the guest host for Jimmy Kimmel Live on Tuesday. In her opening monologue, Julie said she did not deserve credit for the rescue because she did absolutely nothing but pose for a picture. Julie explained that her sister Dr. Annie Luetkemeyer, an infectious disease specialist, saved the woman. They encountered Minnie John after she fainted and gashed her head when her sugar levels dropped. Julie said that even her twin sons helped by running down the mountain to find Minnies family. Her older son, a knife aficionado, helped cut the bandages. Below are a few more details from the segment via Yahoo!:
?She goes Meredith Grey right away, applying pressure, doing doctor stuff,? Bowen said. ?And I brought my professional expertise to the table by yelling things Id heard on episodes of E.R.?
Bowen, who was also joined by her 12-year-old twin sons and her 14-year-old son on the hike, said that they even played a more important role than she did. Her twins ran ahead to find the hiker?s family, while the 14-year-old, whom Bowen described as being ?obsessed with knives,? was able to help Luetkemeyer cut down some bandages.
?So just to recap, everyone helped save this woman,? Bowen said. ?My sister, my twins, my knife-y son. And I ? did nothing.?
But despite all that, Bowen pointed out just how much credit she has been given in the media since the story broke, and played a montage of TV news anchors singing her praises and even some elevating her to superhero status.
?My superpower is having a sister who went to med school,? Bowen said.
Fortunately the hiker, whose name is Minnie John, is doing well according to Bowen and was actually quite excited to meet the actress, even posting for a picture despite having a head injury.
?Look, I know this isnt the point here, but believe me, getting recognized by someone who has sustained a serious head injury ? is extremely flattering,? Bowen joked.
[From Yahoo!]
This was the funniest thing I have seen today. When Julie read her sisters note about not listening to actresses, I laughed so hard. I love the fact that Julie is taking it all in stride and giving credit where it is actually due. Julie is truly being modest and not making it about her. I also like the fact that Julies sister wrote a letter encouraging people to get vaccinated or contact their physician to find out more about the vaccine. I am glad that people are getting inundated with the message to get vaccinated and to continue to practice social distancing. It is amazing that Julies kids were involved with helping Minnie out including the one who likes knives (yikes!). I am glad that Minnie survived and was able to meet Julie and remember her familys kindness. Like I have said before, I love stories of celebrities people doing ordinary, kind things. Julie may not be the heroine of this story but at least she got to carry the shield.

| Sofia Vergara and the ladies of Modern Family at the SAGs: same old or gorgeous? | Added 10 years ago | Source: CeleBitchy |

When people who are just casual gossip consumers see Sofia Vergara on the red carpet, they link “holy crap she looks amazing,” and she does. Sofia Vergara knocks it out of the park, almost the same way, in every gown. She practically wears the same gown for every awards ceremony: sweetheart neckline, full skirt, solid color fabric or solid color sequins. It’s hard to shade Sofia Vergara for looking gorgeous, but I would just love to see her mix it up. This silver Donna Karan looks similar to her Golden Globes after party Zac Posen gown. Still, I feel petty for pointing it out when she looks this good.
As much as Sofia stays in her comfort zone, her co-star and friend, Julie Bowen, mixes it up. Julie was in this fashion-forward Carolina Hererra, with a pointed burnt orange bustline, visible stitching, and a line-print skirt. I thought this gown was the perfect mix of modern and classic. It was interesting without being strange. Julie told Giuliana Rancic that her dress was “gorgeous but it?s funky,” and Giuliana of course said she loved it. I’m surprised this is Hererra, because I remember her designs on Renee Zellweger for years, and Renee’s dresses were very staid. Maybe that was just Zellweger’s taste.
Ariel Winter, 15, was in blue white and black Badgley Mischka. I’m so sorry to say this about such a young girl, but the first thing I noticed were her boobs! When Modern Family won for comedy ensemble (the fourth year in a row!), Bowen started off their acceptance speech by saying “we’re going to make Sofia talk because America loves her and her boobs.” When she said that I got confused about whom she was referring to, because Bowen was standing right next to Ariel Winter. I’m sorry! And I’m sorry to my friends who have teenage daughters.
Oh, and I found it ridiculous when Sofia said “I can’t barely speak English” during her speech. She needs to lose that shtick. They should have let Ty Burrell do the honors since he gave such an awesome funny speech when he finally won for male actor in a comedy series.
Sarah Hyland, 23, was in a kind of boring bell-shaped pale Pamela Roland gown. There were a lot of neutral solids on the red carpet last night, and Bedhead will be doing more for you shortly. At least Hyland’s styling was much better than we saw at the Globes, where she had giant dark eyebrows. At the SAGs, she had lovely sideswept hair and flattering makeup.

| Modern Family's Julie Bowen Visits Late Night with Jimmy Fallon in NYC | Added 11 years ago | Source: Dickism |

Here is Julie Bowen stopping by “Late Night with Jimmy Fallon”. Where she talks about how they take Halloween seriously in her house… her kids are obsessed with Psy and dressing as people from his “Gangnam Style” video. She also has a suggestion for her husband, Scott.
Bowen and Fallon play “Box of Lies,” a game that involves either lying or telling the truth about the content of some mystery boxes. “In my box … I have a creature that is frightening and hairy,” says Bowen. “I have a frightening, hairy creature in my box.” Heh.

| Julie Bowen in pink Zac Posen at the Emmys: slowly improving or still tragic? | Added 11 years ago | Source: CeleBitchy |

I?m choosing to make Julie Bowen the lead lady of this Modern Family-fashion post, mostly because I think Sofia Vergara has exhausted everyone at this point and because Sofia?s dress was super-boring. I think Julie Bowen is very talented and very pretty, but her style is? out there. She once said that she shares a stylist with Kristen Stewart, and I think we need to recommend another name for poor Julie. At the end of the day though, I kind of love that Julie always gets it wrong. She?s dependable. She never really looks glamorous ? she always looks like a harried mom who didn?t have time to pick out a flattering dress. That?s appealing.
Anyway, Julie wore this Pink Zac Posen. It would have been okay? on Sarah Hyland. It?s just too frilly, girly and cutesy for Julie. I guess I have to give her a slow-clap for proper tailoring though. It fits like a glove and that?s something.
Here?s Sofia Vergara in Vera Wang. Blah. Boring. She wears versions of this same dress all the time. Even the red color seems budget. And the jewelry was too much, too big. Maybe I?m old-school, but I don?t think you should pair emeralds with a red dress ? it?s too Christmasy.
When I saw Sarah Hyland on the red carpet, I was sort of horrified to see what someone had to done to this young woman. Sarah is only 22 years old ? there?s no reason for her to wear this old-lady-lace Carolina Herrera. There?s no reason for a 22-year-old to wear this much makeup. The whole thing seems like an old-timey whorehouse costume.

| Julie Bowen on her stylist: 'If I get K-Stew's castoffs, that's all right with me' | Added 11 years ago | Source: CeleBitchy |

I just have such overwhelming love for Julie Bowen. I know many of you consider Jennifer Garner to be the patron-saint of the ?real moms,? but for me, it?s Julie Bowen. I love how blunt and honest she is. I love that she doesn?t pretend to have her life under control. More often than not, when asked about her children or her home life, Julie makes it sound like she?s struggling and failing at twenty different things every day. Which seems like a much more normal portrait of a working actress (to me at least). Anyway, Julie covers the new issue of Lucky, and she?s mostly talking about style and how the Modern Family writers are really helping her out:
Fingers crossed Julie Bowen doesn’t start wearing sneakers on the red carpet. The Modern Family actress appears on the April cover of Lucky, where she explains how her fashion sense has evolved since joining the cast of ABC’s top-rated comedy.
“It was a big evolution in style for me to grow up and say, ‘I need to take fashion seriously for my job.’ I have a stylist now, and she’s trying to get me to wear more revealing stuff. She’s Kristen Stewart’s stylist,” the Emmy winner says, referencing Tara Swennen. “I go there and see all this amazing funky stuff, and I know it’s for her. If I get K-Stew’s castoffs, that’s all right with me.”
Bowen admits that she’s never been too concerned about her appearance, and she gets flustered when magazines label her “beautiful.”
“I don’t even know what to say about that, because then, I’d have to acknowledge I was some kind of attractive ideal, and that’s just not the way I was raised,” the 43-year-old married mother of three says. “Plus, I feel like I look like the pale girl in some Flemish painting.”
The blonde star credits the Modern Family staff with giving her solid material that isn’t reliant on her looks or her comedic abilities. “Our writers are flexible enough to write to my strengths and open-minded enough to imagine Claire in a car pool and naked in a hot spring,” she said of a recent Season 4 episode. “I needed good material. I’m not like Amy Poehler, who can make anything funny.”
“People like Claire because at the end of the day, she’s a good mom,” Bowen tells Lucky of her character. “I am quite sure there are plenty of people who could play Claire. I was just in the right place at the right time.”
[From Us Weekly]
If you?ve been watching Modern Family since the beginning, the arc of Julie?s character Claire is very interesting. For a few seasons, the writers made her the sort-of stereotypical ?shrew? ? the overzealous, anal-retentive straight man/mom to Ty Burrell?s crazy, funny, loose dad. But the writers corrected themselves and the Claire character has much more depth these days, and they?ve really given Julie Bowen a chance to shine. She IS a gifted comedienne, even though I kind of agree with her that dozens of actresses could do the role.
As for Julie sharing a stylist with K-Stew ? how much do you love that Julie refers to her as ?K-Stew?? That?s cracking me up. But yes, Julie definitely needs some style help and maybe this stylist will be better than nothing. I hope the stylist doesn?t put her in miniskirts, Chucks and heavy eye makeup.

Getting in some important quality time, Julie Bowen took her sons to the farmers market on Sunday morning (January 13) in Studio City, CA.
The ?Modern Family? momma, dressed casually in black pants and a down jacket, helped her boys John and Gustav as they played on the bouncy slide.
The trio also picked up some fruits and veggies before heading home for the afternoon.
Fans can catch Julie in a new episode of her hit comedy on Wednesday at 9/8 central on ABC.

Stepping out for a media appearance, Julie Bowen showed up at ?The Tonight Show with Jay Leno? last night (November 27).
The ?Modern Family? actress looked beautiful as she chatted with Jay about seeing Nicki Minaj wearing her yellow Emmy dress at the recent American Music Awards.
Julie began, ?I am not upset that she wore my dress at all. I?m upset that she stole my hair. I think it?s fantastic. These dresses, they have to cost so much money. They?re lent to us for one night and they disappear by the time you wake up in the morning. And I think it?s great.?
As for the possibility of a fashion faux pas, Bowen added, ?Technically she should worry about the foul. But she?s Nicki Minaj. The girl has it going on. The booty alone- she has booty for days on end. I say she took that dress to a new level. I?m all for it.?
