She made headlines for taking a homeless 22-year-old guy to the 2014 MTV Video Music Awards over the weekend, but turns out Miley Cyrus' buddy has a warrant out for his arrest.
Jesse Helt actually accepted the ?Wrecking Ball? babe?s trophy during the ceremony and was said to be heading back to his hometown of Salem, Oregon with funds given to him by Miss Cyrus.
But now it turns out Helt is wanted on charges of burglary, criminal trespassing and criminal mischief due to an attempted break-in back in 2010.
At this point, Jesse is wanted by Oregon police, so it?s doubtful he?ll show his face around those parts anytime soon.

When Hayden Panettiere was speaking to Giuliana Rancic during the E! pre-show she dropped a female pronoun in reference to her baby. Giuliana picked up on it, got all excited, and Hayden confirmed that she was having a girl. Later the other commentators, Kristin and Kelly, started gloating about how they had the exclusive that Hayden was having a girl and that Amanda Peet was pregnant. (Bedhead covered Peet here.) I don’t really get how it’s a big deal to find out a celebrity baby’s sex ahead of time, though. I only care when it’s close friends or family, although I like to actually see the celebrity babies once they arrive. Is that strange?
Anyway presenter Hayden was in this formfitting, cleavage-baring silver sequin Lorena Sarbu gown that was sexy without revealing too much. I thought this gown was so striking on her. The only thing missing was her hot Ukranian fiance, Wladimir Klitschko. Hayden told Giuliana that they’re trying to come up with a name for their baby that is both American and Ukranian, and that it’s difficult.
Also I have no problem when pregnant ladies belly cup. It kind of seems inevitable for them to do this, and I think I did it too.
Presenter Viola Davis was in this hot cobalt blue Escada gown featuring a sequin bust. The top is a little too tight and shelf-like for my taste, but Viola looks great otherwise. I love the cap sleeves on this.
Viola’s former co-star, Octavia Spencer, was in her favorite designer, Tadashi Shoji. She hasn’t worn another designer in years as far as I can remember. She said in a past red carpet interview that she knows all the people at the design house very well because she sees them ahead of each ceremony. This is a great color and this bright red was very popular last night. I like the intricate draping on this gown.
Minnie Driver wore a coral red Marchesa featuring a sequin v-neck. This isn’t awful but there’s nothing special about this dress. Minnie was nominated for Lead Actress in a Miniseries or Movie, for Return to Zero. That category of course went to Jessica Lange.
I just wanted to mention that I’ve tried to watch About a Boy, Minnie’s NBC comedy, but found it kind of boring. There were funny moments, it just didn’t draw me in. The show will come back in October.

Treating herself to a delicious lunch, Miley Cyrus showed up at Kiwami restaurant in Ventura, California on Monday afternoon (August 25).
The always-photogenic pop star wore a cropped black sweater with blue sleeves and a matching blue scarf as she walked out of the popular sushi stop to greet fans and shutterbugs.
And it sounds like Miley pulled a fast one on MTV, as the network had no idea she was going to have her homeless friend Jesse Helt accept her trophy at the Video Music Awards on Sunday night.
Since the touching moment, Jesse?s mother Linda Helt spoke to The Oregonian (they?re from Salem, Oregon) about her 22-year-old son.
?He moved to Los Angeles because he wanted to make it on his own,? she explained. Apparently, Miley paid for Jesse?s suit, a few nights in a swanky hotel over the weekend, and even gave him money to travel home to his family this week.

I have a theory about Claire Danes and her style. My theory: Claire?s style really took a major hit during her pregnancy and she hasn?t regained her style mojo since. She used to be one of the most-watched women on any given red carpet, but nowadays? not so much. I think after she gave birth, she didn?t care that much about clothes, which? fair enough. That?s fine. But what?s weird about her look this year is that it feels like she did put some effort into it and it still came out terrible, if not worse than when she didn?t give a crap. Or maybe it?s just that everything Riccardo Tisci touches turns to Kardashian-esque krap. Yes, Claire wore Givenchy. And it?s bright red and lace and high collared and AWFUL. When you really look at the design, you can see that the top part is just a sleeveless, red version of Kim Kardashian?s wedding gown too.
CB was complaining about Claire?s makeup too ? it?s not so obvious in these photos, but on the E! show, you could really see that Claire was wearing a mountain of makeup. She doesn?t need all that! And she needed a real hairstyle because this one? ugh. Also: I feel like a broken record about this, but I always get weird vibes from Hugh Dancy when he?s with his wife. Maybe he?s just got Natural Bitchface or something, but it always feels like they?re walking the carpet together after they had a huge fight in the limo.
And here?s Zooey Deschanel in Oscar de la Renta. It reminds me a lot of Marilyn Monroe?s iconic look in Gentlemen Prefer Blondes. Same cut and color. Well? I actually like it? She looks pretty in the color, it fits, it?s age-appropriate and pretty. She styled it well too ? I like the casual phase-out of the bangs and while her hair is sort of Duchess Kate-esque here, the curls are nice.

Halle Berry wasn’t nominated for anything last night. She couldn’t have been, because she only made the jump to television this year. She was just one of the bigger name presenters, and she owned that stage when she floated out to announce the final Emmy, for Lead Drama. (Breaking Bad FTW.)
Halle wore this amazing Elie Saab gown in a light lilac color. The dress fits her like a glove and features a diaphanous skirt and modern gold belt. It reminds me of her character Molly’s fashion on Extant. Molly is always wearing contemporary, draped fashion in solid colors. Halle hit it out of the park here, I’m so impressed. Her styling is spot on too.
Edie Falco also looked incredible in a bold Escada gown that is tailored perfectly for her. I’m not sure what to call this purplish blue color, but an online color tool tells me it’s called “Christalle,” which I haven’t heard of before. I really like this dress on her. Edie was nominated for lead actress in a comedy, for Nurse Jackie, which went to Julia Louis-Dreyfus.
Nominated in the same category, for her work in Mike & Molly, we have Melissa McCarthy in custom Marchesa. I normally dislike Marchesa’s design, but this is a pretty gown and a change from her usual designers. I like the sequin belt although the tulle skirt is a little much.
Presenter Debra Messing was in a full length Angel Sanchez black dress featuring sheer asymmetric lines. In some light this dress looks like a deep navy blue, but I do think it’s black. I know many people will find this boring, but it’s something I would wear. I favor clean contemporary design and this dress is an excellent example of that. It’s a nice choice and a unique look.

I saw some photos of Kaley Cuoco at one of the pre-Emmy events, and I didn?t even recognize her because she had plastered down her hair with gel and bobby pins. It was a strangely good look for her. Much better than what happened at the Emmys. I think we can safely say that the haircut was a bad idea and no amount of ?trims? will fix it. She really shouldn?t have cut it any shorter than shoulder-length, I think.
Anyway, Kaley was there with her husband Ryan Sweeting. There?s a tabloid rumor going around that Kaley wants to do a post-nup to protect her substantial assets if and when this marriage goes into the toilet. Is that what her face is saying to you? Is that her ?Ruh-roh, what if he walks away with $40 million?? face? As for the dress? it?s Monique Lhuillier. I?m not into it but I don?t hate it.
Mayim Bialik in Oliver Tolentino. This looks like the kind of dress Laura Bush or Hillary Clinton would wear. So matronly.
Julianne Hough was trying to attempt some high-fashion origami style with this Dsquared gown and it failed miserably. So now she just looked pregnant in a weird dress.

This is a post dedicated to the ladies of Modern Family, which won in several categories last night including Best Comedy, Supporting Actor (which went to the veritable Ty Burrell for the second time) and Directing (Gil Mancuso). This wasn’t a sweep for Modern Family in the Comedy categories but that’s ok, it can’t win everything every time.
First off we have Sofia Vergara in a formfitting Roberto Cavalli gown. Vergara doesn’t mix it up sartorially much, she’s usually in a variation of this silhouette in a solid color. She looks incredible, but she always does. She also usually plays up her heritage. I do think she lays it on a little thick sometimes, but that’s her persona and she’s sticking to it.
After Vergara introduced the Academy of Television Arts and Sciences President Bruce Rosenblum, she was put on a revolving pedestal while Rosenblum gave a speech about the organization. Vergara wiggled and preened a bit, as a way to add a distraction and levity to the speech. Many people find it objectifying and sexist. (The Independent has an overview of some of the criticism of that segment.) Here’s that bit:
In response to critics, Vergara gave the Olivia Wilde defense, “I can be hot and funny!” essentially. She said “I think its absolutely the opposite. It means that somebody can be hot and also be funny and make fun of herself. I think it?s ridiculous that somebody started this?I know who she was?who has no sense of humor [and should] lighten up a little bit.”
I wonder whom she’s referring to. Really it’s not like only one person brought it up and started it. Sofia could have acknowledged that the gag could be perceived negatively even if she didn’t see it that way.
Here’s Vergara’s co-star and friend, Julie Bowen, in a Peter Som full length gown with a very busy blurred dot print. Unlike Vergara, Bowen takes a lot of fashion risks which usually pay off. Not this time, this is just too much going on in one dress. If the print was just in the bodice or skirt, it might have worked.
Also pictured are Sarah Hyland in Christian Siriano and Ariel Winter in Black Halo Eve. I think Hyland and Winter both look great. I especially like the bold orange skirt on Hyland’s gown.

Laura Prepon led a cadre of OITNB ladies at the Emmys last night. Laura is so great as Alex Vause on the show, and we’re used to seeing her in basic tan. It was quite a treat to see her in a jewel tone. Laura chose a shiny, green-blue Gustavo Cadile gown. It’s taken me a few minutes to like this dress (so many color-blocked peplums in different places), but it works. The collar-flap is a bit awkward, but Laura wears it with panache. She wisely styled her hair in a messy chignon to offset the dress’ structured look. Laura looks gorgeous.
Taylor Schilling blended into the background in a Zuhair Murad dress. Taylor had hinted at her Emmys gown by saying she would never wear orange on the red carpet. She still could have gone with a bolder color instead of this bland, embellished dress that didn’t stand out at all. Taylor should have dressed for drama.
Danielle Brooks brought the Taystee magic on the red carpet. She went full-length in a white gown with tastefully bubbly overlay and a dramatic, thigh-high split. The hint of train tops off this dress nicely.
Dascha Polanco is so beautiful but struck out on the red carpet. This white dress isn’t tailored well on top. There’s also way too much fabric, which overwhelms her body. This is the prom dress of the evening.
Allison Tolman looked fantastic in a jade green gown that played up her brunette locks and green eyes. The gown was great in theory, but the fabric was a bit too bunchy and wrinkly. Allison didn’t win best supporting actress, but Fargo won best miniseries/movie.
Kate Walsh wore a canary yellow Stephane Rolland dress that took peplum to the extreme. Maybe without the fishtail, this dress would have worked. The sparkly detail on the skirt is a nice touch. The styling is also off, and Kate’s hair is underdone.

I think Gwen Stefani was the only person who did the VMAs and the Emmys this year. Oh, wait. No she wasn?t. Adam Levine was there too. Anyway, can I just say? Her VMAs look was so much better. At the Emmys, Gwen wore this Versace which I guess was inspired by what Donatella Versace would wear, something like that. As such, Gwen was styled a bit like Donatella ? white-blonde hair, straight, hanging in her face. With lots of Botox. The state of Gwen?s face seemed worse at the Emmys than at the VMAs, I think. Which is depressing. As for the gown? eh. I dislike it, but on the E! Red Carpet show, it actually looked better in motion. It?s a rock n? roll look, not really a stuffy TV awards show look. The Versace would have been completely at home at the Grammys.
Gwen also had a John Travolta/Adele Dazeem moment when she was announcing Stephen Colbert as the winner. She pronounced Colbert?s name like ?Colbort?. Or #surfbort, if you will. Jimmy Fallon tried to jack Colbert?s Emmy because Gwen mispronounced it. #Colbort.
And here?s Kate Mara looking like a grumpy gremlin for some reason. Why are these Mara girls always so dark, moody and affected? Mara wore this absolutely tragic J. Mendel gown that doesn?t know what it?s doing. Look at how many style gimmicks were attempted and abandoned half-way through. Mara?s stylist might hate her. At least her hair looked cute.

This post is dedicated to some of the female winners last night. As Julianna Margulies mentioned during her speech, it’s a wonderful time for women on television.
First off we have Julia Louis-Dreyfus, who took home the Emmy for Lead Actress in a Comedy, for Veep for the second year in a row. (It was her fifth Emmy overall.) She’s in an amazing Carolina Herrera halter neck full length gown. She told Giuliana Rancic that the color was raspberry and she said the patent belt was burgundy. This was one of my favorite red dresses last night. Of course Julia also won the night with that bit with Bryan Cranston. She played it like she had no idea who he was until they locked tongues. She’s such an excellent comedic actress! Here’s Louis-Dreyfus’ acceptance speech.
Julianna Margulies worked the hell out of a formfitting black and grey Narciso Rodriguez gown. (I feel somewhat guilty for snatching Margulies, as Kaiser love Good Wife.) She looks amazing and I love the detail on this dress. The back is especially stunning. Julianna won for Lead Actress in a Drama, having won once previously for Good Wife in 2011. (She also earned a Supporting Actress Emmy for ER in 1995.) Here’s her speech.
Jessica Lange took home the Emmy for Lead Actress in a Miniseries or Movie, for American Horror Story: Coven. This is her third Emmy, she won Supporting Actress for AHS in 2012 and Lead Actress for Grey Gardens in 2009. Lange seemed pleasantly surprised to have won yet again, you could tell she wasn’t expecting it at all. Lange is in J. Mendel.
I’m throwing Sarah Paulson in at the end because I don’t want to focus on the negative too much. She’s in a ridiculous Armani Priv gown with polka dot tulle puffing out from every angle. Why would anyone even make this dress other than for a costume? Paulson was nominated in the same category as her American Horror Story: Coven co-star, Jessica Lange.

Christina Hendricks arrived on the red carpet early so her red Marchesa dominated early fashion conversation. Some of you liked this Marchesa on her (I think CB liked it). I did not. One, it?s Marchesa which always looks cheap once you see the full-length look. I joked that bad, ill-fitting skirts were part of the Marchesa Signature, and here you go. I guess the dress is taffeta and that?s why the skirt looks that way? So, basically, this is a prom dress for the bustiest ginger in high school. I don?t mind the gold Neil Lane jewelry but I do mind the hair. This is not red carpet hair!!!
I do not understand how my favorite icy bitch and high-fashion drama queen January Jones got it so wrong. I think the mom bangs are throwing her off. The mom-bangs ? which she tried to make ?high fashion? by adding grease/product ? are the worst part of what is a pretty boring look. The gown is Prabal Gurung and I really don?t like it. The red is a weird shade, the train is too much and the fit is off in the bust (it?s sitting too low, probably because the skirt is too heavy). AND THE BANGS. Ugh. You changed, January.
Jessica Par in Lanvin. It?s a dress that manages to have a vintage flair while still being ?just another boring black dress.? I think it?s the girl wearing the dress, right? I?m so glad Jessica/Megan Draper is (SPOILERS) off of Mad Men now. Good riddance.
Kiernan Shipka is growing up! She?s a young lady now and she?s still showing child actors/teen actors how to do age-appropriate red carpet looks. Kiernan wore this Antonio Berardi ? very pretty.
Teyonah Parris looked fab – she plays Dawn, Don Draper?s former secretary and now the new office manager of SCDP. She really wanted to make a big statement and she did in this bright Christian Siriano gown. I really like this.

SO MUCH JULIA. Julia was one of the few ?movie stars? who deigned to appear at last night?s Emmys. And much like Matthew McConaughey, Julia lost her Emmy race (to Fabulous Kathy Bates) and her sore-loser face made me laugh and laugh. And then there was some instant-karma when I made my sore-loser face when Benedict Cumberbatch won and he wasn?t even there. So, karma is a bitch. Noted. Plus, Julia got a chance to look smug when The Normal Heart won Best TV Movie. So, the night was not a complete loss for her.
Julia wore this short Elie Saab dress which is? okay. I didn?t hate it, I didn?t love it. Julia has moved into more matronly, mature looks over the past four years or so, but she still likes showing off her legs when she can. Even though this look is ALL LEG, I find it too conservative. I wonder if I would have liked this better if it had still been a short/minidress but with a straight skirt rather than a ruffled/tiered look. I think a straight skirt would have been really sexy here, right?
As for Julia?s whole shtick where she?s the most important person in whatever room she?s in? it gets on my last nerve, but what else do you expect from her? She managed to make Best Actor in a Drama Series all about her as she prattled on and on while on-stage. CB thought Julia sounded drunk. Yeah, drunk on her own self-importance! She?s always like that.
And just for some sharp relief from The Julia Show, here?s Mindy Kaling in Kenzo. I have to give it to Mindy, she?s the model of professionalism. She was notably snubbed as a writer and as an actress ? even though The Mindy Project was killing it last season ? and she still showed up to hustle and present. Good for you, girl.
