Last November US Surgeon General Dr. Vivek Murthy was announced as one of the leaders of a commission to study the impact of loneliness on all aspects of our well being. This appointment came on the heels of the World Health Organization (WHO) officially labeling loneliness a global issue. Sharon Stone is also working with WHO as an ambassador on this issue. Sharon, proving once again that she?s hotter than she?s ever been! In all sincerity, she?s an empathic advocate and I love that she?s doing this (especially while Hollywood still fumbles over giving her good parts). Sharon recently sat down with Alex Salmond on his Turkish TV show (Salmond is a former Scottish minister, just go with it) and talked about mental health, resilience, being kind to yourself, and bread baking:
Sharon Stone shared her own struggles with mental health in an emotional interview.
?We?re all trying to confront our demons and we?re all acting out ? me too,? the actress, 66, told host Alex Salmond during an appearance on Turkish Tea Talk, a news program in Turkey.
The actress, who skyrocketed to fame in the 1992 thriller Basic Instinct, shared that she still struggles with her memory after suffering a stroke in 2001 that led to a near-fatal brain hemorrhage.
?It?s like the life that was this other person, that you can claim as your life but it doesn?t feel like, ?Oh I was there, I did that.??
?I didn?t remember all of it for a very long time, and I still don?t remember all of it,? Stone said, ?but I get pieces of it back.?
Stone also talked about her work as an ambassador with the World Health Organization, and said that mental health is a problem ?on a global level,? which she linked to the start of the Covid pandemic.
?Covid happened and we shut down the world and you had to be with just you,? the Casino star said. ?Now that was great for people who wanted to learn to bake bread ? the whole world wanted to learn to bake bread, right? Then people wanted to learn other languages. I wanted to get back to my painting.?
?But for those people who don?t like who they got to be with, one in 10 people on a global level are having a mental problem.?
Stone continued, ?One in 10 on a global scale can?t handle that already.?
?The possibility of living with who you are as the only solid? people don?t know who they are.?
The mom of three said that the journey to improve mental health ?must start with the individual? being kind to themselves while also having accountability for their actions.
?You must stand strong and when you blow it ? okay, so what? That was two steps ago,? Stone said.
?You have to get back up and get yourself together and help whoever you think you bumped around, and keep moving forward.?
And, she added, it?s important to express ?instant forgiveness for yourself. Instant forgiveness for whoever shoved you down.?
Then, she said, ?Get back up and let?s go.?
[From People]
Not once during the lockdown days of the pandemic did I have the yen to learn how to bake bread or learn a new language. Does that mean there?s something wrong with me? (Don?t answer that). I was in New York for the duration, and it was pretty bleak here in those early months. Even as things changed so rapidly at the beginning, I knew that I could handle being with just me. I?d had a lot of practice at it (stop laughing), and I felt grateful, or lucky even that I had the kind of disposition that would be ok in isolation. Because I knew that wasn?t true for everyone. And what I learned after about two years of not seeing my friends and family in person was how even for me, someone content in her own company, my spirit lit up when with other people.
If you have 26 minutes to spare I highly recommend watching the full interview. Sharon is a trip, and I mean that as the ultimate compliment! She?s fascinating to watch, I think because of the way she straddles that line of ?Is she nutty?? or ?Is she brilliant?? (The answer is: yes.) The mantra of getting back up is talked about a lot (for good reasons!), but I appreciate Sharon also noting to be kind to yourself, and others, over our stumbles. You?re gonna have some unproofed dough along the way towards mastering your perfect loaf. (At least I think that?s right; I still know nothing about baking bread.)

One of the highlights of this awards season so far has been America Ferrera receiving the See Her award from the Critics Choice. At this point I don?t think it?s a spoiler to say (except perhaps to Kevin Costner) that America?s monologue on the expectations put on women is the linchpin of the film. It?s the beating heart underneath all the technicolor high jinx we see play out in Barbie Land and the State of Los Angeles. And America delivers it beautifully, so it was especially nice to see her recognized with the See Her award given that she?s looking more and more like a dark horse for a supporting actress nomination, but we?ll know for sure on Tuesday. America posted a video of her acceptance speech to her Instagram ? yes girl, celebrate yourself! ? and Sharon Stone chimed in with a very unexpected congratulations: in thanking the Barbie team for their ?courage and endurance? in making the film, Sharon revealed that she tried to pitch a Barbie movie back in the 90s? only to be laughed out the door. Le sigh, the patriarchy.
Sharon Stone has revealed that she once attempted to pitch a ?Barbie? movie to a Hollywood studio during the 1990s and was laughed out of the room. What a difference a couple of decades makes, as Greta Gerwig and Margot Robbie?s ?Barbie? opened last year and earned a staggering $1.4 billion to become the top-grossing film of 2023 and the biggest earner in Warner Bros.? studio history.
?I was laughed out [of] the studio when I came [with] the Barbie idea in the ?90s [with] the support of the head of Barbie,? Stone wrote in a comment to America Ferrera on Instagram, where the latter shared her powerful acceptance speech from the Critics Choice Awards. ?How far we?ve come. Thank you ladies for your courage and endurance.?
Ferrera is a supporting actor in ?Barbie? and was honored with the See Her award at the Critics Choice Awards. During her speech, she paid tribute to Gerwig and thanked her ?for proving through your incredible mastery as a filmmaker that women?s stories have no difficulty achieving cinematic greatness and box-office history at the same time, and that unabashedly telling female stories does not diminish your powers, it expands them.?
Stone is far from the only actor to try and fail to get a ?Barbie? movie off the ground. Before Gerwig and Robbie perfected their take at Warner Bros., both Amy Schumer and Anne Hathaway attempted a ?Barbie? movie at Sony Pictures.
[From Variety]
I mean, am I surprised to hear that studios didn?t want to make a Barbie movie back in the 90s, no. Not surprising, but still infuriating. When I think of all the iterations we?ve seen of Batman over the decades, and in essentially the same costume each time, I want to fake hurl like the Barbies do at Margot Robbie?s flat feet. Yes, I know that Batman debuted 20 years before Barbie. Batty Boy is coming up on 85 years old in May, and by a conservative estimate has around 12 live action films. Barbie, by contrast, will be 65 on March 9 and has? one film.

Sharon Stone has been reentering Hollywood. Last year Sharon costarred in the series Ratched and she has a new movie, What About Love, coming out in February 2022. Sharon took a long break after suffering a massive stroke in 2001 that almost killed her and derailed her career. Sharons memoir, The Beauty of Living Twice, came out this March. In an interview with OK! Magazine Sharon explained that she is a very shy person and that learning to speak in public has helped her raise money for causes close to her heart. A few highlights:
On her stroke in 2001
Essentially my marriage [to journalist Phil Bronstein] was over when the stroke happened. I had a 1-year-old baby, and after my divorce, I adopted another son, and then another almost immediately after that because I got a call that they were brothers. So I suddenly had three children while I was recovering.
On her greatest personal achievement
I?m an incredibly shy person, and I?ve been able to learn to speak in public, which is a big thing for me. It?s helped me tremendously with raising money for AIDS awareness and being able to speak to scientists and doctors or take an initiative to the United Nations and be taken seriously. It?s just absolutely thrilling. And of course, any person who has children knows that being a parent is just a fantastic thing. No one can tell you what it?s going to be like, and then you do it and it?s everything.
Advice she would give her younger self
You know, why change the journey? We all have our own destiny and our own lessons to learn. Of course there are highlights, but to pretend that every career isn?t without giant disasters and horrific moments would be completely false. We cannot grow without trying new things, and we?re going to fail when we try them. And each time, we learn amazing and often very subtle things that become the seedlings of success.
[From OK! Magazine, print edition, November 15, 2021]
I am so happy that Sharon survived but it is a tragedy that we lost such a talent at the height of her career. I like how Sharon said that one of her goals was to work opposite Robert DeNiro and hold her own and she did. I also love how Sharon was raised by a girl dad and now she is a boy mom. I am glad to see Sharon rekindle her career on her terms and am looking forward to her movie. I am also looking forward to reading her memoir because I am seriously curious about her recovery process after her stroke. I know that she lost the ability to speak for a while and I cant imagine what that would have been like for her. Sharon says she is incredibly shy and I think that makes her roles as badass women that much more compelling (and makes me want to go re-watch those movies). In the meantime, I hope Sharon continues to take on more roles, at her own pace of course, because I truly enjoy her as an actress (Casino was her best movie to date, fight me).

Towards the backend of the Cannes Film Festival, the A-list models go on vacation and the A-list celebrities go home. Which means that the last few days are pretty bonkers, with lower-tier celebrities and models vying for attention. Enter Sharon Stone. Stone walked the carpet for last night?s premiere of A Felesegam Tortenete/The Story Of My Wife. She got a lot of attention, obviously, because women dressed up like Cinderella often will. This dress is Dolce & Gabbana and it?s a train wreck, not only because Domenico Dolce and Stefano Gabbana are complete trash, but also because they?re terrible designers.
Poppy Delevingne also wore Dolce & Gabbana. This dress is so plain! But she looks fine.
Vicky Krieps! I don?t know who did this dress but she?s stunning. I love her. Is she wearing tap shoes?!?
Tilda Swinton walked a Cannes red carpet with her daughter Honor Swinton Byrne. Honor is like ?I can?t believe my mother does this for a living.? I would wear Tilda?s blouse as a nightgown and I imagine it would be super-comfortable.
Bonus pic of The French Dispatch photocall a few days ago: Tilda wore Haider Ackerman and these photos are iconic.

Last week, I wrote about the rumor that Sharon Stone was dating 25-year-old up and coming rapper RMR. They had been seen hanging out and there are photos of them together, including a picture of Sharon wearing one of RMRs signature ski masks. Well, Sharon has put those rumors to rest. A paparazzo asked Sharon if she was dating RMR and she laughed and said no. Sharon was out with her 21-year-old son, Roan, and he laughed and said You couldnt have asked a funnier question. You can see the video of that on TMZ.
Sharon basically said, I am a grown a*s woman and I dont have time for the youngsters. I am glad this rumor has been cleared up because some folks were not happy that Sharon would date someone so much younger. It is not like Sharon makes dating men less than half her age a habit, so I was unbothered. However, watching that video I felt relief. I do love it when women are sexually liberated and empowered, but I I cringe when there is a more than a fifteen year age gap between partners. I tend to wonder what sort of mid-life crisis the person is experiencing when they date someone half their age. I am glad the ski mask picture was only a photo-op between friends or acquaintances and I will continue celebrating Sharon having a damn good time and not giving AF about other peoples judgements.

| Sharon Stone's plastic surgeon gave her bigger implants without her authorization | Added 3 years ago | Source: CeleBitchy |

Sharon Stone is just endlessly promoting her (stale-tea) memoir, The Beauty of Living Twice. I like Sharon, but I do think she?s gone too heavy on the stories from the ?90s, most of which were already widely known. But here?s something new: Sharon Stone got breast implants after she had surgery to remove benign tumors in her breasts. And her implants are larger than she wanted, because her plastic surgeon decided without her authorization to go bigger.
Sharon Stone says that a plastic surgeon gave her larger breast implants without her consent, telling her that they would go better with her body, she writes in her new memoir. The Basic Instinct star, 63, explains in her memoir, The Beauty of Living Twice, that she was undergoing breast reconstruction surgery to repair her chest after doctors had to remove benign tumors that were gigantic, bigger than my breast alone, in 2001. But when Stone woke up from the reconstructive surgery, she discovered that the surgeon gave her large breast implants, The Times reported in an interview with the actress.
When I was unbandaged, I discovered that I had a full cup-size bigger breasts, ones that he said go better with your hip size Stone said. He had changed my body without my knowledge or consent.
And when Stone questioned her surgeon on her breast size, she said he told her that he thought that I would look better with bigger, better boobs.
Stone also writes in her memoir, out on March 30, about the stroke and cerebral hemorrhage she experienced in 2001, at age 43. Speaking about that harrowing health scare with Willie Geist on Sunday Today, Stone said that she was lying in a hospital bed as a doctor told her that she was close to death. The room was so silent, she said. When the room is so silent and no ones running around trying to fix you, thats when you realize how near death is and how serious everything is.
Stone recovered and took a two-year break from acting as she rebuilt her health, but said in a 2019 interview with Variety that the stroke stunted her career. She went from being at the top of her game following 1992s Basic Instinct and 1995s Casino to struggling to find work for seven years, while also losing primary custody of her adopted son Roan.
People treated me in a way that was brutally unkind, Stone said. From other women in my own business to the female judge who handled my custody case, I dont think anyone grasps how dangerous a stroke is for women and what it takes to recover. I had to remortgage my house. I lost everything I had. I lost my place in the business. I was like the hottest movie star, you know? It was like Miss Princess Diana and I were so famous, and she died and I had a stroke. And we were forgotten.
[From People]
Diana was not forgotten!! What the sh-t. That is an absolutely bonkers statement, oh my God. ?It was like Miss Princess Diana and I were so famous, and she died and I had a stroke. And we were forgotten.? WOW. No, I?m not going to touch it. (CB pointed out that the quote is actually from 2019. Still bonkers.) As for the reconstructive surgery and the implants? it?s very strange. So she was definitely there to have the benign tumors removed and have her chest reconstructed, so she knew she was getting implants. Did she not approve of the implant size before the surgery? Did she just wave her hand and say ?you do what you think is best? and her surgeon was like ?go up a cup size, damn it?? It?s such a strange story. I probably would have sued.

| Sharon Stone on women over 40: 'This is a time?when our worth is the most enhanced' | Added 3 years ago | Source: CeleBitchy |

Sharon Stone has been promoting her new memoir, The Beauty of Living Twice. Vanity Fair got the exclusive rights to publish some excerpts from the book, and Sharon is spilling tea about filming Basic Instinct, how producers tried to convince her to sleep with costars so they would have more chemistry and on and on you can read VF?s excerpts here. I?ll admit that I?ll probably be interested in reading this memoir, but the excerpts so far haven?t been crazy-scandalous in the sense of ?wow, I never knew that!? The stories from Basic Instinct are especially ?stale tea,? as are the revelations that male movie producers were and are sexist, harassing d-bags. I did find this sort of interesting though Sharon told Oprah that she thinks women over 40 are more powerful and enhanced than the younger girls. Sure.
For Sharon Stone, now is the right time to release her upcoming memoir The Beauty of Living Twice. In a PEOPLE exclusive look at this Saturdays Super Soul interview, Stone tells Oprah Winfrey her memoir is coming after decades of reflection and coming to believe that as women reach the age of 40 white male society starts to tell women you dont have worth.
I think that as we grow older, we have this societal pressure where people start to try to tell us that our worth is diminished, the Basic Instinct star, 63, says. But thats not how Stone sees it.
I think this is a time in our life when our worth is the most enhanced, she tells Winfrey. I believe thats because its the first time in your life when your worth becomes so much more. You become the most powerful than youve ever been.
Also in the interview, Stone will speak to Winfrey about the trauma and abuse she experienced as a child, as well as her near-death experience and her recovery after having a near-fatal stroke.
In an excerpt from her memoir, excerpted by Vanity Fair, Stone recalled multiple instances of being approached by movie producers to have sex with her costars. The actress recalled one producer who brought her into his office, and explained to me why I should f? my costar so that we could have onscreen chemistry. You guys insisted on this actor when he couldnt get one whole scene out in the test, Stone said she remembered thinking at the time. Now you think if I f? him, he will become a fine actor? Nobodys that good in bed. I felt they could have just hired a costar with talent, someone who could deliver a scene and remember his lines. It was my job to act and I said no.
[From People]
First of all, I?m pretty sure that Sharon?s ?blind item? of the costar who couldn?t act his way out of a paper bag is probably Billy Baldwin. I saw Sliver. They had zero chemistry. As for Sharon talking about ?this is a time in our life when our worth is the most enhanced?it?s complicated. Like, I understand the point Sharon and many other women are making, which is that it?s sexist and ageist to act like women over the age of 40 don?t exist or aren?t worthwhile or don?t have a lot to contribute. It IS sexist and ageist and stupid. But I guess I just hate ageing and my body hurts a lot and I?m tired, too tired to argue about how it actually kind of sucks to be past 40! But I am wiser now and that?s nice.

| Sharon Stone on Trump: 'I have empathy for him, he's had some childhood trauma' | Added 4 years ago | Source: CeleBitchy |

Sharon Stone has a job! She?s part of the new Netflix series Ratched, based on the character Nurse Ratched from One Flew Over the Cuckoo?s Nest. Louise Fletcher won an Oscar for playing Nurse Ratched in the movie! The movie is really good, and so is the book. I?m not sure what I think of reimagining the movie/book into a series based on the head of the asylum though. Anyway, to promote the series, Sharon spoke to the Telegraph about sexism and harassment in Hollywood, and how she actually feels sorry for Donald Trump. Some highlights:
On ageing: ?You don?t even realize how much [looks] matter until they start to go.? It?s a ?big, fat stupid lie if anyone says that they don?t.?
Her workouts at the age of 62: Her workout routine consists of doing ?30 squats a day, and lift[ing] these 7-pound lead balls when I?m watching TV, just because I can?t get to the gym these days.?
She felt vindicated by the #MeToo movement. She recalled one director who, ?asked me to sit on his lap every day to receive direction.? Stone also remembered a male actor in the cast of the 1984 film ?Irreconcilable Differences,? who once yelled in reference to her on a crowded set, ??Would you get out of the f?king way? I can?t even see her t-ts!?
She thinks there?s still room for butt-pats and whistles: ?Fankly, I don?t really care if they [people] pat me on the rearIt was a lot of fun when we were allowed to whistle and flirt, but that era has passed. Because sometimes it?s just a small thing ? a look or a nod ? and sometimes you just have to walk away or laugh. And sometimes you really have to put your foot down.?
On trying out dating sites: ?Dating sites are just not a successful thing. Because real chemistry, that frisson, that happens in the air ? not on a site. And people are becoming less socially adept because of those sites.
On Donald Trump. ?Actually, I have empathy for him. I think he?s had some childhood trauma. I look at this man and it feels to me like whatever his traumas are, he is torturing himself and hurting himself. And it?s affecting so many people that are coming out in support [of him], with Nazi masks and all that stuff. Those are also people who have a heartbreaking level of internal rage, and that rage comes from feeling so insecure and so hurt.?
[From Page Six & The Independent]
Wow, this is a whole mess! Let?s tackle the Trump stuff first. I don?t doubt that there are ?reasons? why Trump is a degenerate rapist and traitor. I?m sure his father was a monster, and he?s continued that cycle of abuse and tragedy with his own children. But mostly, I don?t give a fk. There comes a point when the motives of an abuser don?t really matter, because all you need to do is GTFO. That?s how it is with Trump spare me the tragic backstory, he?s doing real damage to real people right now and we need to get the hell out of the White House and not faff about. And I?m sorry, why do we need to humanize Nazis again? Enough. A Nazi might paint pretty pictures or bake a really good pie, but he?s still a fking Nazi.
As for what she says about sexual harassment and flirting or whatever? I believe that her intention was to say that there are some situations which have some nuance, and I believe that too. I also believe that women of certain generations were just brought up to simply accept harassment as a daily experience.

Judging from the gossip columns and Page Six?s updates, my take is that most celebrities only really use one dating app, Raya. Apparently, Channing Tatum just joined Raya following his split from Jessie J. Celebrities feel like they need the fanciest, most exclusive dating app, which is sort of Raya?s branding. But then there?s Sharon Stone. Sharon Stone is 61 years old and single. She?s not on Raya. She was on Bumble. Until Bumble kicked her off for being Sharon Stone. Like? I think that?s what happened? No one could believe that Sharon Stone was really on Bumble.
I went on the @bumble dating sight and they closed my account. ??Some users reported that it couldn?t possibly be me! Hey @bumble, is being me exclusionary ? ?????Don?t shut me out of the hive ?

Theres this tendency for commenters to point out the worst thing a celebrity has said or done, even years later. When its sexual harassment, a violent crime, or a racist or sexist remark thats completely understandable. Sometimes theyre just a bit assholish or they say something thats up to interpretation (like when Anthony Mackie said a womans role was to make him a sandwich. I get it, just let me still like him please). When the person says another questionable thing though, its perfectly fine to bring up the other bad things theyve said and done. Like Sharon Stone, who asked in 2008 if the horrible earthquakes in China were karma for the governments treatment of Tibet. Sharon apologized for that and it sounded like she learned her lesson, but shes not the most compassionate person. She recently gave an interview to Vanity Fair in which she discussed her 2001 stroke and compared herself to Princess Diana. (Sharon first opened up about her stroke in 2014 I believe.) Sharons cerebral hemorrhage was so bad it took two years for her to learn to walk and talk again and she almost lost everything. She said it took seven years for her to recover. All of that sounds harrowing, and quite different from dying in a car crash.
?This is why I do it: My mother had a stroke. My grandmother had a stroke. I had a massive stroke ? and a nine-day brain bleed,? [Sharon Stone] told Variety at an event she hosted to raise awareness for the Women?s Brain Health Initiative in West Hollywood on Wednesday night.
They say that Hollywood loves a comeback but unfortunately, that has not been Stone?s experience. ?People treated me in a way that was brutally unkind,? she said. And she wasn?t referring to men (other than perhaps her ex-husband Phil Bronstein). ?From other women in my own business to the female judge who handled my custody case, I don?t think anyone grasps how dangerous a stroke is for women and what it takes to recover ? it took me about seven years.?
During that time, Stone suffered insurmountable losses, both professional and personal: ?[From] trying to keep custody of my son to just functioning ? to be able to work at all,? Stone added. ?I was so grateful to [LVMH head and now the second-richest person in the world] Bernard Arnault, who rescued me by giving me a Dior contract. But I had to remortgage my house. I lost everything I had. I lost my place in the business. I was like the hottest movie star, you know?? she said, her voice trailing off. ?It was like Miss Princess Diana and I were so famous ? and she died and I had a stroke. And we were forgotten.?
But what Stone wants people to remember is her potentially life-saving advice: ?if you have a really bad headache, you need to go to the hospital,? she said. ?I didn?t get to the hospital until day three or four of my stroke. Most people die. I had a 1% chance of living by the time I got surgery ? and they wouldn?t know for a month if I would live.? At the time, Stone wasn?t even aware of how dire her chances for survival were. ?No one told me ? I read it in a magazine,? she added.
[From Variety]
Maybe Sharon comparing herself to Princess Diana would make sense if she had a stroke the same summer that Diana passed in that horrible accident. If it happened around the same time then she would associate her own tragedy with Dianas. Diana passed in 1997 and Sharons stroke was in 2001. Shes comparing her fame level with Dianas, which I dont think is accurate at all, but at least she has a high opinion of herself. I mean a lot of people strive for that. Plus no one forgot Princess Diana! We still talk about her all the time. It sounds like Sharon felt like she died too in a way. That must have been awful and I cant imagine how bad it was. Sharon has said that her stroke made her much more blunt and outspoken, so maybe thats the reason why she talks smack like this, she lost her filter. Also Im reminded of Emilia Clarkes story of her brain aneurysm and how it was the worst headache she ever had.
Also, Sharon Stone looks good because she has not jacked up her face. She is aging goals.
