FINALLY SOME FUN GOSSIP TODAY. I?m so tired of the gut-wrenching revelations from Michael Wolff?s Trump book, and I was in dire need of some fun celebrity crap, and here it is: the Hollywood Foreign Press Association is going to give us some old-school Uncool Bermuda-Triangle Dramz!! Angelina Jolie and Jennifer Aniston have both signed on as presenters at the Golden Globes on Sunday. GOOD. I HOPE THEY PRESENT TOGETHER. I HOPE THE LEG OF DOOM COMES OUT TO PLAY.
The Hollywood Foreign Press Association has been slowly rolling out the list of presenters for the 2018 Golden Globes, and in the last day, four new actresses have been added to the mix: Jennifer Aniston, Angelina Jolie, Helen Mirren and Emma Stone. Aniston and Jolie, who share a mutual ex in Brad Pitt, rarely attend the same events?but this year’s award ceremony is all about women coming together, thanks to the #MeToo and Time’s Up movements, and it’s message is bigger than the tabloid stories they’ve both worked so hard to ignore over the years.
Aniston recently donated $500,000 to the Time’s Up GoFundMe campaign; the money is going toward a legal defense fund, providing subsidized assistance to men and women who suffer sexual abuse, assault or harassment while at work?regardless of the industry they all work in.
Jolie, meanwhile, was among the dozens of actresses who publicly spoke out against disgraced film producer Harvey Weinstein. “I had a bad experience with Harvey Weinstein in my youth, and as a result, chose never to work with him again and warn others when they did,” Jolie told The New York Times. “This behavior towards women in any field, any country is unacceptable.”

I don?t have any doubt that both Jolie and Aniston will be wearing black. Jolie?s black dress will probably be of the sack variety, while Aniston?s black dress will probably have a few sparkles, maybe a side-slit to the thigh. Aniston will come to the Globes with Justin Theroux, and Angelina will either go solo, or she?ll bring one of her kids, maybe. That might not be the worst idea for her – if she brings Maddox as her date, there won?t be the same kind of ?OMG UNCOOL DRAMA? around the Globe stories. Anyway, this is just something to look forward to on Sunday? vintage gossip, almost. Will they be seated close to each other? Will they say anything to each other? Will the camera find Jolie?s face when Aniston is on the stage and vice versa? It?s almost a sweet relief to talk about this kind of thing.

Here are some photos of Christian Bale at the mid-December premiere of his new film, Hostiles. Hostiles is well-reviewed – it?s a Western, and Bale plays a ?legendary Army captain? who ?reluctantly agrees to escort a Cheyenne chief and his family through dangerous territory.? Bale is currently thicc because he gained a bunch of weight to play Dick Cheney. I sort of enjoy Thicc Bale, although his bleached eyebrows are killing my soul a little bit. Anyway, Christian Bale wants us to know that he?s not a Matt Damon. Bale is not going to cry ?but what about all the men who don?t rape women, where?s their medal?!? Bale is not going to #AllLivesMatterEspeciallyWhiteBroLives anyone. Bale apparently thinks we need to stop letting white dudes run the place.
Promoting his new film Hostiles on the AOL Build web-series, Bale said that the fabric of the United States can only work for the positive when it embraces its diversity.
“Our culture will be so much richer the day that we stop saying, ‘Hey, it’s all white dudes who are running things,’” Bale said. “Whether that be Hollywood, whether that be Washington, you know. We’re going to get, in Hollywood, so much better films and so much more interesting stories being told and America will become the America that the rest of the world sees it as, that makes it unique.”
He added that being born and raised in the UK and moving to the US has enabled him an outsider’s perspective on what makes the country so welcoming.
“As an Englishman, we recognise what makes this such a beautiful, brilliant country and [how] not to ruin that,” he said. “It’s the reason I moved here. It’s the reason my kids have American accents. It’s because… it’s a country of inclusion and invitation.”

Most sites are running this story as ?Christian Bale says our culture would be ?so much richer? when we stop white dudes.? But is he really saying that? I think he is saying that, it?s just awkwardly worded. In any case, at least Bale is smart enough to just leave it at that and not try to act like white dudes are somehow being unfairly maligned or marginalized in any way. I doubt Bale is the wokest dude on the planet, but hey? he?s better at this than Matt Damon. F–k it, give him a medal.

A little more than two years ago, the New York papers reported that Diane Kruger was getting frisky with Norman Reedus. It was December 2015, and Diane had only recently moved to New York with her boyfriend of a decade, Joshua Jackson. In retrospect? yeah, of course Diane was cheating on Joshua with Norman Reedus. It wasn?t until July 2016 that Joshua and Diane announced their split, and it wasn?t until December 2016 that Diane and Norman started being seen out and about together as a couple. The whole thing left a bad taste in my mouth, but I have to admit, I sort of hate-admire how ?no apologies? Diane was about it. She never explained, never complained, never apologized. And Joshua moved on, so it?s not like we need to cry for Poor Joshua.
Anyway, Diane?s new German film, In the Fade, is getting a ton of buzz. She won the Best Actress gong at last year?s Cannes Film Festival, and some believe she might be a dark horse candidate for a Best Actress nomination. The film is one of the big contenders for Best Foreign Film too. To promote the movie, Diane chatted with Vulture (in a piece published about a week ago, sorry, I missed it) about how everything in her life sort of fell apart in the span of a year, and what really happened with Joshua (and how all of that happened at the same time). You can read the piece here. Some highlights:
What fell apart in her life: In the space of eight months, she lost her grandmother and her stepfather, plus ended her ten-year relationship with Joshua Jackson, all while going into deep immersion in the toughest role of her career ? as a woman whose Turkish husband and son are killed in a neo-Nazi terrorist attack in the German-language thriller In the Fade.
Why she works in so many French films: ?I just felt that in France, I was never typecast. But in the U.S., they just wanted to hire me for big franchises where you?re ?the female lead,? but you?re really servicing the male story line.?
Why she wasn?t popular (as an actress) in her German homeland: ?I felt for a long time that they felt I had abandoned or given up my Germanness. Also, I changed my name, which was originally Heidkrger, so even though I?m really well known in Germany, I?ve always felt they were a little upset with me.?
What happened with the Joshua Jackson breakup: Kruger isn?t specific about when she and Jackson called it off, but indicates that it was almost simultaneous with her grandmother?s death, and on Kruger?s behest. ?That was something that was a long time coming. Also we broke up many months before we said we were broken up, so by the time I made that decision, it didn?t feel like it was so urgent anymore. You don?t break up overnight after ten years, you know what I mean?? She describes the experience as sad and inevitable rather than angry or anxiety-inducing. (?It wasn?t like an urgent, ?Oh my god, I can?t sleep at night? thing.?)
Dealing with the breakup as she worked: ?Actually, it felt liberating because I didn?t have to worry about that anymore, so I could immerse myself 100 percent into something else. I felt like I did nothing else but that. Nobody came to visit me, I didn?t have to worry about anything else but this.? Didn?t she miss the support system, though? ?I didn?t want one. It?s a distraction.?
Norman Reedus has been her rock. ?Coming out of it was a long process that mostly involved my family because we were healing and grieving the loss of my stepdad together. And I was lucky to have my friends and my partner there to just be present and walk that walk with me to the light.?

Whenever I look at Norman Reedus, I always think ?this will end in tears.? Like, anything and anyone he?s involved with will end in tears. I don?t think he?ll ever be any woman?s soulmate or true partner, but whatever. Maybe he was just the excuse she needed to exit the relationship with Joshua. It?s all really kind of f–ked up, right? She openly cheated on Joshua with Norman, orchestrated the split, then a year and a half later, talks about how liberating the whole experience felt at the time. Oh well? she never pretended to be a contender for German Sweetheart of the Year. Maybe it?s more interesting this way.

Low-key couple Katie Holmes and Jamie Foxx, last spotted together at Jamie?s lavish 50th birthday party last month, are continuing to take baby steps in making their relationship public. The pair, who have been linked since 2013, are ?starting to be more comfortable about their relationship,? according to US Magazine.
The magazine spoke to a friend of Jamie?s who notes that he and Katie ?care about each other a lot and they tried to stay as quiet as possible because they didn?t want to ruin that.? Confirming what we already kind of knew to be true, the friend added that the two have ?definitely become more serious? and that ?Jamie brings a lot of joy and happiness into [Katie?s] life.?
The two may be getting closer, but they remain independent and keep their families in the forefront. US?s source acknowledged that ?When they?re together it works. When they?re not, they?re on their own. It?s what works for them.? Case in point, the couple spent New Year?s Eve apart. Jamie partied the night away at Lavo nightclub in Singapore, celebrating the arrival of 2018 with his 23-year-old daughter Corrine and his sister, Deidra Dixon.
Katie spent the holiday with her 11-year-old daughter Suri. Mom and daughter bonded in the snow during a ski trip in Park City, Utah. At the opening of Las Vegas eatery Black Tap Craft Burgers & Beer last Friday, the 38-year-old actress told PEOPLE, ?I?m spending my New Year?s with family and I?m really happy about that. I?ve been doing a lot of skiing with my daughter and that?s been a really great joy for me.? Side note: apparently, Suri is quite the skier. And Katie is ?an amazing mom,? an insider told US, confirming that ?She?ll choose her family over [Jamie] any day.?
Katie does really seem like an awesome parent, and she?s managed to get past splitting with Tom Cruise (and the Church of Scientology) and regained her life and career – she?ll be on the big screen in Oceans 8 this summer, which I can?t wait to see. She?s due some true happiness, and I hope that?s what she?s got with Jamie.
