Taking time away from the set of her hit HBO series "The Newsroom," Olivia Munn fronted the November 2013 issue of S Moda magazine.
During her interview with the Spanish publication, the "Magic Mike" star opened up about taking on the role as Sloan and revealed her thoughts about doing the infamous Playboy shoot.

On working on the set of "The Newsroom":
"I love being part of that team and work with [Aaron] Sorkin. The only reason that I can like someone is by their scripts. Not my merit. We all want to work with [Sorkin], his dialogues are great. When I heard about 'The Newsroom' I was doing 'The Daily Show' and knew that I would regret if I did that bet."
On becoming Sloan:
"Sloan is fiercely loyal and if you ask any of my friends, [they will tell you that too. Also she does not need to justify her actions, and that is my philosophy. When I was little, we moved every so often and I had to make new friends. I realized that I could not like everyone, I had to feel comfortable with my imperfections because people noticed them right away. I wanted to give that character that determination. I was inspired by many woman I know."
On posing for Playboy:
"Hated that photo shoot. [I] will never do it again. I [said] I [would not] undress and [it was] included in the contract, but they were pushing me to do it. I agreed to pose because it was a special issue. It is still an hour and is a major magazine. It meant sacrificing any of my principles."

These are photos of Lily Allen out in London on Friday evening. In her own way Lily has become the queen of controversy with her new music video, and she did it all without getting naked. In this day and age, that’s quite an accomplishment in pop music.
People are calling out Lily’s video as racist, and Lily tried to defend herself against these accusations on Twitter: “If anyone thinks for a second that I requested specific ethnicities for the video, they?re wrong.” Lily also stated how she herself would have twerked along with her backup dancers, but she tried to perfect the move for two weeks and could not master it. She also mentioned her “chronic cellulite” as another reason that her dancers were dancing lustily, but she was not. Hmm.
I find those words interesting, and while I do like Lily as a pop icon, I’ll confess to never buying any of her music. Nothing against her at all, but her voice just isn’t my bag. I appreciate that she’s trying to say things that women are told they shouldn’t say, and now Lily is speaking out in a Guardian interview. The article begins with an anecdote about how (after having her first child) postpartum Lily went for a consultation at a plastic surgeon’s office a year ago. She was all scheduled for liposuction, and then four days before the procedure, she learned she was pregnant again. Naturally she did not have the surgery — she wrote a song instead. That song just happens to be “Hard Out Here.” Let’s do this:
She loves the word “bitch”: “Dolly Parton is a bitch. Adele’s a bitch. Angela Merkel is a bitch…” She’s sitting in the make-up chair listing bitches, of which she proudly counts herself one. “Rihanna’s an inspiring bitch, my mum, Miley’s a bitch, rising. She’s my hero. Kate Middleton is NOT a bitch.”
On her rep: “I’ve always been called ‘mouthy,’ when, in fact, I’m just talking. In the music industry, women have always been controlled by male execs, told to do the Kate Moss thing. Keep your mouth shut, or people will laugh at you. They’ve been talking about us like this for years, basically.”
She lives in the country with her family: “It’s nice, but it’s weird. I’m totally out of touch. When I first started, in terms of girls it was just me and Amy [Winehouse]. Now, ‘reentering the marketplace,’ it’s all girls.”
Things are so different now: “Nobody says anything real today. Most of those girls have their songs written by other people. It annoys me, because ‘eh oh eh oh ahh’ is not a chorus — that’s not a point where I feel ‘we’re connecting’, you know? I need a narrative.”
She’s changed too: “I want to sing about different things now,” she smokes. “Before I was married, my songs were directed at significant others. Now I couldn’t be happier, so it’s opened me up to write about more general stuff. There are a couple of songs to Sam, including one sexy one, about coming to terms with becoming sexual again after just being a baby-making vessel. But mainly they’re funnier and happier — less lethargic, less teenage.”
Her new music: “I’m not moaning at the world any more. Before, I was struggling. Coming out of adolescence and not knowing where I was in the world — now it’s about ownership and empowerment.” And objectification. “I’d like to think that my children’s generation won’t feel like this. Like I do. I want them to realise that not everyone can be f—ing ‘hot.’ Rather than attractiveness being the end prize, it should be as rewarding to be clever or funny, or, you know, have your, your ‘thing’.” She takes a sip of champagne through a straw before taking her place on a mirrored dance floor. It’s 11am.
Getting older is scary: “I don’t think I’m going to suit being old. That thing of ? I always used to be the youngest bitch. Little Lily. Now I’m not. That scares me a bit. But that’s a product of today’s media, isn’t it? The world makes you feel like your life is over.”
The dark side of the internet: “I read it. I read it all, and they’re 90% horrible. Is that because everybody hates me? Or is it just an easy way for them to make themselves feel good, by saying something bad about someone else? And sometimes it can be really hurtful. Like when I lost my baby.”
The gossip cycle: Minutes after she gave birth to her first child, before she had told her mum, she says, the Daily Mail was on the phone. “The placenta was still IN me. The Mail Online is like carbs — you know you shouldn’t but you do. Probably two or three times a day. I hate them — it’s an atrocity, really. But I still go on it. It’s my homepage. These lyrics are a message to them, in part. We keep going back,” she takes a long pull on her cigarette, “we keep going back, because they’ve made us feel so sh-t that we have to compare ourselves, to say ‘haha she’s fat too’, in order to feel better.”
What if she’d gone through the surgery? “Now I know what the female body is capable of I have a lot more respect for it. My wide hips are for squeezing babies out of.”

That last part confuses me. Lily rails against “objectification” (the word even appears in “Hard Out Here”), but she almost went under the knife a year ago for cosmetic reasons. As stated above, Lily said she would have dressed scantily in her video if she could dance the right way and didn’t have “cellulite.” Maybe I should just appreciate that she recognizes her own contradictions. Lily is at least trying to make a point instead of just being “hot,” right?

Eva Longoria broke up with her last boyfriend of a whole four months around the end of August. Eva’s most recent ex was a reality show contestant who was over four million in debt. Eva may have wised up that the guy was using her for money and fame, although reports of the split claimed that “they?re just on hold right now.” To me that’s evidence that she was keeping her options open because she can’t stand to be single at all. There’s nothing wrong with playing the field and dating, but Eva comes across as a serial dater.
To complicate matters, Eva was said to be hooking up with George Clooney on the downlow this summer. Clooney predictably didn’t take it further with Eva, since she’s too high profile for him. So what’s going on with Eva now? She found another guy, a very accomplished one, and just announced that they’re dating. If you go by her official story, she just announced her last breakup less than three months ago and she thinks she’s serious enough with the next guy to announce that too.
Before we quote People here, it’s worth noting that E! claimed that Eva was seen making out at a restaurant in NY, Serafina, with another ex boyfriend, Eduardo Cruz, just three weeks ago. People notes that Eva was in NY at that time with her new guy, Televisa president Jose “Pepe” Antonio Baston. E!’s earlier story was probably a case of mistaken identity:
After several weeks of keeping her new romance under wraps, Eva Longoria stepped out over the weekend with the new man in her life, Jose “Pepe” Antonio Baston.
“He’s been sweeping her off her feet and courting her like a proper gentleman,” a source tells PEOPLE of Baston, 45, the president of Televisa, the largest media company in Latin America. On Friday, he escorted the actress/producer, 38, to the Museo Jumex Opening dinner at Case De La Bola in Mexico City, Mexico.
Cameras flashed incessantly as the wealthy businessman and the former Desperate Housewives star made their way down their first red carpet together.
Last month, Longoria and Baston dined at New York’s Serafina restaurant. A source told PEOPLE at the time that the Longoria was “very happy” with the budding relationship and that Baston was “crazy about her.”

So Eva has a new boyfriend, and he’s accomplished and rich in his own right. Here’s a headshot of the guy. Hot! He’s been named one of the most influential people in Mexico. Eva traded up from that reality show leech she was dating before, and arguably from Ernesto Cruz, her previous long term relationship. It still seems too early to announce the relationship, and like she’s tempting fate. Sure things are fun and romantic and it’s all butterflies now, but wait a bit. Don’t invite the press in until you’re sure of things. To Eva, a few weeks probably seems like forever though.

The ?Desperate Housewives? dame brought her latest boyfriend Jose ?Pepe? Antonio Baston to a museum opening in the Mexican capitol city, confirming rumors that they were romantically linked.
Eva and Jose were first thought to be an item earlier this month, though she was also said to be reconciling with Eduardo Cruz at the time.
Jose ?Pepe? Antonio Baston is the president of Televisa, so perhaps he?ll be more able to handle Eva?s high-profile career than her earlier suitors.

For the life of me, I can’t figure out how Drew Barrymore keeps landing magazine covers. She’s not appearing in any upcoming movies, but I think Drew’s moving in the direction of her “lifestyle guru” peers. Not that she’s launched a Goop-esque website or anything, but I feel it coming. Just wait.
Drew covers the December issue of Women’s Health magazine to promote her new cosmetic line, Flower Beauty. The shoot must have taken place in the very early stages of her latest pregnancy because she’s glowing like mad. She looks gorgeous, and I’ve always felt a weird connection to Drew because she’s one day younger than me. Seriously! I am strange about stuff like that.
Drew’s had her ups and downs and has lived a million lifetimes in just 38 years. She says zany stuff in interviews like when she’s talking about how women are so moody (oh those poor men) and how women can’t have it all (even though Drew has a nanny, etc.). She also gets really super enthusiastic about mundane things like dining rooms. In this interview, Drew once again comes off as very enthusiastic about whatever she happens to be talking about. In this case, she’s talking about the magical experience of motherhood. She’s so effusive, but it’s hard to hate:
Why she got into the make-up biz: “I love doing the beauty line because it’s so inherently feminine and so much of a celebration of women. I think about my daughter and how special that is to be making something that’s so creative and empowering, so that really fits.”
Her changed priorities: “Being a mom is first – that’s now number one. Everything I’m going to do is going to have a real consciousness toward – is this a job I can do and still get home in time for dinner and have days where I get to do every diaper change?”
On working mother guilt: “Then I’m going to have to go out on certain days and work and not try to feel like the guiltiest person on the planet, which every mother understands.”
Body-image pressure: “You’re not supposed to look perfect while you’re making babies. Making babies is the perfection. It’s about feeling good in clothes and knowing you can get dressed up in the evening, work it for a minute, and maybe get back in a certain pair of jeans. But there’s just no such thing as perfection. So if you’re trying to get there you’re just torturing yourself.”
Her beauty tips: “My main beauty tip is don’t say that negative thing when you look in the mirror. It just isn’t healthy. That lack of beating up on ourselves–that’s my new mantra. Happiness is the best make-up; a smile is better than any lipstick you’ll put on”

It’s funny that Drew is talking about how “happiness is the best make-up” while she’s shilling her own cosmetics line, but she’s right. Most people look better while smiling than frowning, and the body language projected by a “smiler” (not the Miley Cyrus variety) goes miles to impress other people.
As for her statements on motherhood, we get it, Drew. You’re the first parent ever. Just like every other first-time parent out there, right? I give it a few years, and Drew will be acting like parenting is old hat. Again … just like every parent out there. We parents can be so nauseating sometimes.

Can I just say? Nicole Kidman is one of a very elite class of women who can pull off these super-sleek, tighter-than-tight, Croydon facelift hairstyles. Jennifer Lopez always attempts this look and I?ve always thought it fell flat on her, but Nicole looks so amazing and fierce with this sleek look. Nicole covers the December issue of Harper?s Bazaar Australia ? the cover is an homage to an old Kate Moss cover, which is weird, right? It?s weird that they would get Kidman to homage Moss. Anyway, I really like this shoot even if it?s not that original. I prefer my Kidman looking like a drag queen princess as opposed to some sexed-up bombshell or a lady of the manor (two styles she?s been doing a lot lately).
As for the interview, there are only a few quotes floating around, but they were enough to make me roll my eyes at her. She managed to get in a quote about Tom Cruise without having to mention his name, but I chuckled at her ?emptiness? quote:
After breaking up with Tom Cruise, winning an Oscar wasn?t enough solace for Nicole Kidman.
?I was having professional success and my personal life was struggling,? she says in Harper?s Bazaar.
Capturing a Best Actress award, as she did for her role in ?The Hours,? ?can show you the emptiness of your own life, which is kind of what it showed me,? she said.
Now happy with her husband, country singer Keith Urban, she said that she?s content with smaller film roles.
?I?m not carrying the whole film, and it?s not six to seven months? work like ?Moulin Rouge?!? the 46-year-old actress said. ?I get to come for three weeks and then go home,? she added.

The after-Cruise thing is what it is. I understand that she self-edits and tries to explain the circumstances around their split cryptically, but I feel certain that Nicole will never tell us the real story of their marriage and divorce, and we may never know. As for the ?emptiness of her life? after she won her Oscar? sure, I guess we?re supposed to think that career achievements means nothing when compared to her second chance at love and motherhood and isn?t that some homespun wisdom? But here?s the thing ? if chasing awards is so ?empty? then why is still doing it? Why is she still trying to do these sad, Oscar-baity films, like her Grace Kelly attempt, Grace of Monaco?

Angelina Jolie received her Jean Hersholt Humanitarian Oscar on Saturday night at the Governors Awards. These are some photos from the event! Angelina flew in from Australia (where she?s filming Unbroken) and I don?t know where Brad has been. Is he still in England, working on Fury? He still had his WWII haircut, which is why I ask. So, Brad came out to support his girl and OMG, Maddox came out to support his mom. Look at Maddox! God, he?s grown up so much.
As for Angie? well, my girl looked beautiful. She wore this Atelier Versace gown which looks wonderful on her, and praise Jesus it was not a sack dress. It?s black, of course, because Angelina loves black so much, but it?s a great dress and it suits her. Good hair and makeup too.
Since the Governors Awards are more low-key and less time-sensitive than the Oscar telecast, Angelina was allowed to give a longer acceptance speech when she received her award. They released video of her speech, and she talks about her late mother Marcheline a great deal. Angelina made me cry a little. Seeing Maddox?s pride made me a bit teary too.
PS? CB and I went to see 12 Years a Slave yesterday and I feel pretty strongly that Brad is going to win an Oscar for producing that film. So Angelina will have two Oscars and Brad will have one. Bless the Brangelina.

Taking advantage of the fantastic Miami weather, Joanna Krupa got in some sunbathing on Sunday afternoon (November 17).
Rocking a bright blue bikini, the "Real Housewives of Miami" beauty soaked up the rays before taking a dip in her backyard pool with her husband Romain Zago.
Last week, the 34-year-old opened up to People magazine admitting to a past eating disorder and laxative use.
She explained, "I gained weight and struggled to lose it quickly in order to pursue my dreams of being a model. Being 20 years old, I had no idea how to lose weight fast and laxatives were an easy way out."
"Thank God I didn't hurt myself and stopped," she added.
