US Weekly has a little interview with Clive Owen to promote his new film The International. Clive has already given a hand-full of interviews in Berlin, where the film premiered at the Berlin Film Festival opening night.
The US Weeklypiece makes sure to mention the smoldering star?s wife (boo!) and his daughters (aw!), as well as Julia Roberts. Because even though Clive is promoting a film where his leading lady is Naomi Watts, they still have to ask about Julia Roberts. I guess because he?s contractually obligated to discuss how the world revolves around her? Whatever. I would buy a magazine with only pictures of Clive Owen in various poses.
Hollywood luckiest leading man? This year Clive Owen is starring with two of the town?s hottest actresses. First, the British actor, 44, portrays an Interpol agent taking down a corrupt world bank in The International (out February 13), alongside Naomi Watts. Next, the father of two (he?s been married to Sarah-Jane Fenton for 13 years) reunites with Julia Roberts in the thriller Duplicity (out March 20). He opens up to US about his star stints.
US: The International is action-packed. Did you do many of your own stunts?
Clive: I always do as much as I can, but I?m perfectly willing for somebody else to step in. If it?s getting to a dangerous level, I will go, ?That?s what this man is getting paid for.?
US: What was is like to film in so many locations, including Turkey and Italy?
Clive: Amazing. The end of the movie was filmed on the roof of the Grand Bazaar in Istanbul. We filmed me tearing through it all with a gun and real people were everywhere. It was shocking.
US: How do you balance work and being a father?
Clive: I?ve been lucky. Last year, I got to spend the summer home with the girls [Hannah, age 11 and Eve, age 9] before they went back to school, and then I did a film. We had proper family time together.
US: How was it working with Julia again?
Clive: It was such a treat. We had such a good time on Closer. It might not look that way, but we actually did.

Here?s some additional Clive Owen news: he will be appearing on The View this coming Friday (the 13th). Those ladies are going to have heart attacks, I promise. He?ll probably be all over American television, promoting his film, but I just wanted to make special mention of The View, because it really will be funny seeing those women got all hot and bothered in the presence of Clive.

Claire Danes and Hugh Dancy have become engaged. Danes, 29, has been dating the British actor for more than a year, reports People Magazine, but if my memory serves, I think it?s been closer to two years. After ?breaking up? (perhaps the term ?homewrecking? applies?) Billy Crudup and a very pregnant Mary-Louise Parker in 2004, Danes and Crudup dated for about three years.
Allegedly, Danes and Crudup broke up towards the end of 2006, which is around the time she met Hugh Dancy. She and Dancy met while filming the film Evening. Danes confirmed her relationship with Dancy the summer of 2007. So, yeah, I?m probably right and People?s not - they?ve been together closer to two years.
Claire Danes and Hugh Dancy will be getting married, a rep for the pair confirms to PEOPLE exclusively.
Danes, 29, and Dancy, 33, met while filming Evening in Newport, R.I., and had been dating for more than a year.
The couple recently stepped out at the Screen Actors Guild and Directors Guild awards in Los Angeles.

Ordinarily, I would make a bad joke about the name ?Hugh Dancy?, but I really like the guy. I saw him first in The Jane Austen Book Club, and he is really cute. The couple currently lives in New York, where they are likely to stay. I just looked up Dancy?s filmography, and I am surprised to learn he was in Basic Instinct 2! Yikes. He?s also the love interest in that horrible-looking film Confessions of a Shopaholic, probably one of the worst-timed film releases in history. Congratulations to the happy couple!

Kate Winslet had a new interview air on Dateline last night. She was typically outspoken and unapologetic about it, and that’s why we love her. Winslet has been looking amazing as she promotes her films and heads to the Oscars this year, but body image is still a big issue for her. As a mother, she thinks it’s important to get out the message to young girls that all the magazines are airbrushed and that women don’t really look that flawless. She also says that she doesn’t know a woman who doesn’t check their butt before they leave the house. I swear I don’t do this. I do put on makeup and do my hair and stuff, but have I lost the will to look good if I don’t check my ass? I think I’ll probably start doing it just to join Winslet’s club.
“I don’t know a single woman who doesn’t stand up and check the tushie before she walks out the door,” she said. “I’ve decided I am going to start loving my backside, really just saying, yes. Because I don’t know anyone who does that, you know? And for my daughter, I want to be able to say to her, I love this.
“[Young women] look at all of us, myself included, on these magazine covers and they think, ‘my God, how does she get skin like that?’ And I can tell you, I have so many blemishes under this makeup that have been so fabulously covered. I promise you. I promise you,” she said. “But I did realize a few years ago that no one actually talks about this retouching thing. It’s like a secret or something. I’m damned if it’s going to be a secret anymore. I really want these young women to know we don’t look like this.”

Winslet also said that although she’s not going to get all outspoken about it of course she wants to win an Oscar this year. Six time nominated Kate phrased it very low-key, and said “It would be nice to know what it feels like in that situation to win sometime.”
As for criticism of her effusive Golden Globes speech, Winslet quipped “I thought that people just reviewed the films. I didn’t realize that they reviewed speeches, too.” She explained that the win was unexpected and “I was genuinely overwhelmed.”
Winslet said she hasn’t written an Oscar speech yet. She claimed she knew in the past she wasn’t going to win, “but this year I would say I can’t actually tell.”
It looks like it’s between Winslet and Streep for best actress, but it would also be wonderful if longshot Melissa Leo won for Frozen River. Marion Cotillard won last year unexpectedly and this category is kind of wide open again this year. There’s also Anne Hathaway, who took home the Critics Choice Award and gave a much worse speech than Winslet’s. It’s kind of doubtful that Angelina will win. I hope Winslet, Streep or Leo win the Oscar. Kate’s been nominated many times while Streep is a legend and Leo might not get this chance again.

Remember how Sienna Miller was ?too young?, ?too thin? and ?too beautiful? to be starring as Maid Marian to Russell Crowe?s Robin Hood in Ridley Scott?s Nottingham? All of that was according to Sienna?s strategic leaks in the on-going debate over was-she-fired or did-she-jump? Some sources (Sienna?s) claimed that Russell Crowe was bloated and overweight, and they just didn?t compliment each other physically. Some say (me) Sienna was just fired and had to say something to save face.
So the Nottingham film production was in desperate need of a new Maid Marian. Allegedly, the first actress that was asked was Kate Winslet. Coming after the revelations that Sienna was too ?young and thin?, some saw Winslet?s name being mentioned as a possible replacement as a bit of an insult, as if Winslet was ?old? and ?not thin?.
Cate Blanchett?s name was also mentioned as a replacement, but the initial word was that Cate had no interest in doing another big-studio picture after Indiana Jones and the Kingdom of the Crystal Skull. Plus, Cate has obligations in Australia now with her theatre work. But word is coming out that Blanchett will be the replacement Maid Marian. Good. They should have gone to Blanchett first and not even messed around with Sienna. The Telegraph has details, including a bitchy back-handed insult from one of the actors about Sienna Miller. Hurray!
Cate Blanchett looks more and more of a certainty for the role of Maid Marian in Sir Ridley Scott’s forthcoming film Nottingham after Sienna Miller was apparently deemed too slim and youthful for the part. “I think Cate Blanchett is set to take the Maid Marian part,” says Mark Strong, who has already been signed up to play Sir Guy of Gisbourne, at the London Film Critics’ Circle Awards, at the Grosvenor House hotel, in Park Lane. “She is a wonderful actress and it would make it a much classier film if she was in it.”

Haha, ?classier?. Everything is classier with Blanchett, but methinks that comment was about Sienna Miller. After being ejected from Nottingham, Miller is in talks to do a Broadway play, which I guess means that all of the married men in New York better watch themselves. You can tell that she had a good rapport with the interviewer almost from the start, and she let her guard down and shared some personal information about her relationship with her father, Steven Tyler, and how she’s dealing with the pain from her divorce with the help of good friends.
On her divorce
But the truth is that, it takes a long time, but you do kind of wake up one day and you just feel a little tiny bit better?
There?s nothing worse than heartache, being lovesick. It?s like there?s a physical sickness. You go through a couple of weeks where you think , ?Oh, I?m okay, I feel better,? and then suddenly, out of nowhere, it hits you again? You also realise who your friends are. When Roy and I broke up, Bobby literally moved in with me and helped me get through everything. And my other best friend, Victoria, she?s with me in L.A. right now. The hardest part is when they leave? It also brings up a lot of issues: you might feel like a failure, or like there is something wrong with you. I see a lot of people run away from it, or they act like they don?t care. But if you don?t let yourself mourn, it?s going to come back and bite you on the ass. You can?t run away from yourself: you kind of have to just deal with it.?
On the paparazzi
I have more privacy in L.A. because you can run around in your yard. But the paparazzi are very weird, because they actually stalk you. Like they have someone wait in the car all the time, so whenever you leave…
I?m really boring: I take my son to school; I go to the grocery store. So I don?t play their game. But it?s confusing because they kind of trick you. Some days they?re really obvious, and then some days you?re driving and you look back for them, and they?re not there, and you?ll feel like a weird narcissist. And then you?ll think: ?Oh, I?m free.? So you?ll have two weeks where you can be in your sweats with no make-up on. And then, suddenly, you realise they have been there all the time, just hiding out.

You know that relationship is still sort of hard. He?s very busy, my dad. He?s not around very much; it?s sort of hard being the daughter of a rock star. There?s definitely, at times? it can be painful? especially for me, I can?t speak for all of his?[She trails off]…
In the past few years we haven?t been very close. He has been going through a lot of things on his own and he has not been the? he hasn?t been around that much for us. So that?s been hard. There’s something vulnerable and completely genuine about Tyler and I’m rooting for her and hoping she finds some closure on her relationship. Her dad Steven went to rehab last Spring and is likely having personal issues, especially considering some of the things he’s said recently to the press. Liv considered Todd Rundgren her father for most of her childhood, and she spoke of him fondly in the interview, saying “I have so much love for him… when he holds me it feels like daddy.”
You wonder if Liv is promoting anything as she doesn’t have any films out in the UK, where Wonderland is published, and she doesn’t have anything lined up, according to IMDB. I’d like to see her in more roles as she has both talent and beauty.

Miley Cyrus has been experiencing a week of drama - photos came out of the teenager with friends, many of whom were making ?slant eyes?. The OCA (Organization of Chinese Americans) issued a statement, basically calling Miley an anti-Asian bigot. Miley then half-heartedly apologized, basically saying that she didn?t mean anything by making ?goofy faces?, then compared herself to Britney Spears. Her statement made it worse, something many commenters predicted. Now the OCA has fired back at Miley once again.
Miley Cyrus’ half-hearted “apology” regarding a picture of the tween star and her friends making slanty-eyed faces isn’t convincing anyone, especially the Organization of Chinese Americans.
“The picture is offensive and now this statement is inadequate,” George Wu, Executive Director of the OCA, an Asian-American equality group tells Celebuzz.
Yesterday Miley issued a statement on her website, saying she was sorry that some people misinterpreted her goofy faces, not that she was actually apologetic for making the face in the first place.
“I’ve also been told there are some people upset about some pictures taken of me with friends making goofy faces!” she wrote. “Well, I’m sorry if those people looked at those pics and took them wrong and out of context!”
That’s not enough, says Wu: “It’s not a real apology. We’re not backing down without a fuller apology.”
Your move, Miley.

At a recent taping of the Ellen DeGeneres Show, Ellen asked John if he often stays overnight at Jennifer Aniston’s house. John Mayer admitted that he did, but deemed them “sleepovers.” A term that often invokes visions of pajamas, all nighters, discussions of crushes and nail painting. All of which John was afraid to admit happened.
John also described Aniston’s $15 million Earth-friendly home. He relates that he has trouble with the six button light panel and would much prefer a simpler switch. Technology is scary.
?The top button is on and the button right below that one seems to be an air horn so in the middle of the night it very difficult,? he revealed. ?I just want a switch that glows orange. Just give me a switch that glow orange and I can swing my arm up (and turn on the light). I don?t want a smart home.?
Me thinks it isn’t the sophistication of the panel that makes it so hard to find and operate. It’s the fact that the whole switch has been obscured by old photos of Jennifer Aniston and Brad Pitt. Photos that have overlapped each other to the point that they’ve become the house’s wallpaper. Some people would call this obsessive and neurotic. But what do they know. They’re not the ones destined to be old maids.
