Here are some photos from last night?s 49th Annual Academy of Country Music Awards in Las Vegas. You can see the list of winners here ? is it okay if I really don?t care? I?m not invested in country music at all, although I do follow some of the country music celebrities. I?m just saying, though, I couldn?t care less about who wins what in country music. Anyway, here?s country music?s sweetheart Taylor Swift in J. Mendel. Swifty is a HUGE fan of J. Mendel. She wears that label a lot for formal events, to mixed results. Usually J. Mendel makes Swifty?s frothy, girly dresses, but I kind of like the simplicity of this black-and-white dress. It?s a more adult look for her. She doesn?t get enough credit for changing up her ?girly-girl? style the past few years and successfully transitioning to a more mature look.
Here?s Kimberly Perry in Georges Hobeika. Perry is in The Band Perry with her brothers Neil and Reid, they won Vocal Group of The Year. This is a solid look. I prefer this sort of simple, no muss look to big hair/pageant dress look we usually see at country music events.
Here?s Faith Hill and Tim McGraw. Tim is one the names that keeps coming up in Gwyneth Paltrow stories. Do you think Goop and McGraw banged circa 2009? I do not, but you never know. Anyway, it?s good to see Tim and Faith out and about. Faith?s dress is Saint Laurent. This reminds me of something Angelina Jolie would wear. Right? It?s sort of simple and sacky and the blue-grey color is something that she would like. I don?t like what?s happening with the waist? it looks poorly tailored, right? Maybe it should have been worn with some kind of sparkly belt. She?s styled beautifully though.

Shakira attended last night’s ACM awards in grand fashion. She did a duet with Blake Shelton and was mostly there to promote her own self-titled album. Shakira is a gorgeous woman, but I feel like she goes out of her way to look tacky. This Zuhair Murad is a great example of this trend. Wouldn’t this have been a stunning gown in solid fabric with some detailing around the bustline? The dress contains a million nude cutouts instead. It’s kind of awful, but Shakira looks very happy with her choice. That’s what really matters.
As a side note, Shakira wants to clear up all those things she said about Gerard Pique acting like a territorial d-bag. Shakira told People, “I was being humorous and now I see that some press took it very literally! The reality is that we have a beautiful relationship of mutual trust, and jealousy has never been an issue on either side.” Fine, Shakira. You were only kidding.
Sheryl Crowe wore a deep blue Christian Siriano dress with a geometric twist and an angular fishtail. The “pyramid” earrings are a bit much with her hair down. Cheryl was nominated for Best Female Vocalist. I love her boxy red clutch.
Angie Harmon showed off her legs in an iridescent purple minidress. I’ve looked everywhere but can’t have an ID on the dress. She looks good, but the hair is very heavy and severe. I’m pretty sure she’s hitting the ‘Tox too.
Cassadee Pope wore a Maria Lucia Hohan gown with shades of red-range toga. This is a strange gown because of the peekaboo nude slip. This is a safe dress for the ACMs, but it’s kind of boring.
Stevie Nicks was there with Hilary Scott. Let’s be perfectly honest here and admit that Stevie pulled this outfit out of her closet five minutes before popping out the door. She’s Stevie Nicks. She’s earned the power to wear whatever she wants.

I?m including some newer posters for Maleficent in this post, in case you missed them. Maleficent is due for a wide release on May 30th ? less than two months away. I?m expecting Disney to spare no expense in promoting the film, and I?m expecting that Angelina Jolie (and the entire Jolie-Pitt family) will be on full promotional mode, especially in May. Is it too much to hope that Angelina and Brad will be at Cannes for a non-competition premiere of Maleficent? Please? That would make me so happy, and it feels like something that really could happen. Angelina has gone to Cannes before to promote kids? movies without having anything in competition.
Anyway, there are rumors. Bad rumors. Rumors that Disney analysts and other industry professionals are worried that Maleficent won?t be able to find an audience. Apparently, analysts think Maleficent is just too terrifying for little kids, and that tweens won?t want to see it:
Disney?s dark fantasy film, ?Maleficent,? starring Angelina Jolie as the title villainess, may be too dark and scary to be profitable, one Wall Street analyst wrote in a report on Monday.
The $130-million-budget movie, which tells the ?Sleeping Beauty? tale from the perspective of the evil Maleficent, is set to debut May 30 and will likely result in Disney being forced into a write-down, Wells Fargo?s Marci Ryvicker wrote in a report.
?[E]xpectations for a ?Maleficent? write-off seem relatively widespread,? she wrote.
With more than eight weeks to go before ?Maleficent? unspools, few on Wall Street are ready to take such a bold stance.
?It?s definitely in the ?not a sure thing? bucket,? a second analyst said of the re-imagined fairy tale. RBC Capital?s David Bank is penciling in a total US haul of $150 million.
The movie appears to be pitched at young adults rather than at the more traditional audience for a Disney princess movie: small children.
Jolie appears in the movie with enhanced sharp high cheekbones and headgear with horns. The actress struck a deal with fashion designer Stella McCartney to create a capsule collection for children aged 4 to 14 based on the movie.
It?s hard to deny strong interest in the movie ? or perhaps simply Jolie. An official trailer posted March 18 has gained 4 million views on YouTube. A January trailer garnered 13 million views. ?Maleficent? has 1.8 million Facebook fans, more than any other non-franchise film with a 2014 release date, according to Jason Klein, co-CEO and founder of Listen First Media. Whether that translates into a big box-office number is anyone?s guess.
A write-down, while very much an open question, could slow the momentum of Disney, whose ?Frozen? last week became the highest-grossing animated movie of all time.

Obviously, I?ve been wrong many, many times before about what?s going to be a hit and what?s going to bomb. A recent example: I really thought Noah was going to bomb. How did it NOT bomb? All of the elements were there for that film to be a car crash, but it didn?t happen. So, I have no idea what will happen with Maleficent. I think there?s a lot of interest in it and I think it?s amazing to think that this is Angelina?s first time in front of a camera since 2010.
I have another theory ? this might be part of a ?tamping down expectations so those lowered expectations can be blown away? strategy. Lots of studios do that these days ? they get some analysts to low-ball the estimates so the studio heads can later say, ?Wow, we beat our own estimates, we?re got a crazy-successful hit on our hands!?
Also? yes, Angelina is probably going to frighten children. I can?t wait! LA JOLIE DRAGON.

I know that I?m going to come across as incredibly concern-trolly, but I can?t even help it. I am genuinely concerned about Britney Spears. These are photos of Britney and some friends/handlers (??) at Sean and Jayden?s soccer game yesterday in California. Britney has enough built-in time-off from her Las Vegas act that she?s pretty much spending half her time in California and the other half in Vegas.
So, why I am concern-trolly? It?s not even that Britney was a mess at the soccer game, although she did flash her drawers a few times because her dress was so short and? well, she?s Brit-Brit. I don?t know why I?m concerned. It?s just a feeling. She looks sad. She looks tired. That burgundy hair color wasn?t the best idea, although it’s faded a bit so it does look better. She?s wearing too much makeup for a kids? soccer game. And her ?normal guy? boyfriend isn?t around. Is it all fine and I need to stop overanalyzing? Perhaps.
At the ACM Awards last night, Blake Shelton made fun of Britney as well. Since the ACMs were held in Las Vegas, Blake thought he?d make a hit on Britney?s show. He said: “If you don’t like live music, then you need to go down the block and see Britney Spears.? Ouch. I mean, we all know she lip-syncs, but it?s rough to be called out on it by Blake Shelton on a country awards show.
Maybe it?s all fine, though. Just a few weeks ago, Britney and Dave took Sean and Jayden to Hawaii. Britney posted some photos on her Twitter:

Here are some more photos from last night?s Academy of Country Music Awards in Las Vegas ? you can see the list of winners here. I only care about the fashion! Miranda Lambert wore this nude Randi Rahm on the red carpet, but changed into a brighter little dress later (I don?t have the ID on that one). The nude gown? eh. She?s lost weight and she looks beautiful, and her styling is especially good here. But I get a weird feeling about Miranda and Blake Shelton. Honestly ? I?m not trying to set off the Blaranda loonies. It feels like Miranda is feeling particularly pinched.
Here?s Carrie Underwood in Oscar de la Renta. I usually don?t care for Carrie?s style whatsoever ? she has the ability to turn couture into pageant-wear. But I am strangely enchanted by this dress. That?s not just a cool swooping design on the gown ? that?s actually metallic fringe. If she danced or moved whatsoever, the fringe would shake and you could see it better. Unfortunately, she stood stock-still in all of these photos. My verdict? It?s pretty and I sort of like it? on her. For Carrie, it?s a decent look.
Jewel in Edition by Georges Chakra. My god, this is awful. Terrible dress, it doesn?t fit her, her styling is bad, the whole look is just a mess. Also: BOOBS. Are they real? I seem to remember that Jewel has always been rather busty, so I think they?re real. They just look fake because they?re being squished.

This morning we’ll be bringing you some of the fashion from last night’s ACM Awards. You can see a complete list of nominees and winners here. The ceremony was co-hosted by Blake Shelton and Luke Bryant, and here’s the video of their opening monologue. (I’m having a hard time finding performance videos, but USA Today has a list of the performances.)
First off we have Olivia Munn trying to distract us from her new face with her pushed up rack. Don’t ask me why she was there. Whatever Olivia had done around Oscar time, and it was probably Botox, has settled for her and she doesn’t look quite as altered. In terms of her fashion, she didn’t have to show so much boob but for her it’s somewhat subdued. This dress had both a very high leg slit and a low cut bodice. Just her style. She could have toned it down by not matching her lipstick to her dress color and by not showing us half her underboob on both sides.
Here’s Kellie Pickler looking adorable in a cornflower blue strapless Romona Keveza gown with a long train. It seems a little overdone, but the dress is pretty overall. I do wish she would have done something different with her hair. The curls look a bit stiff. Kellie’s dress is also rather low cut, but her boobs aren’t smooshed together and we’re not seeing the entire side outline.
Kacey Musgraves wore a baby blue Miu Miu gown that had weird gathered fabric at the bodice leading down to a full skirt. The dress was topped off with a fug blue and white belt. I thought Miu Miu was better than this. Kacey won Album of the Year for “Same Trailer Different Park.” You may remember that Kacey won Best Country Album at this year’s Grammy’s too. Her dress here is better than both her strange tiered Grammy’s dress and the mullet see-through dress she wore to the CMAs so slow clap. Check out all that blue eye shadow.
Jamie Lynn Spears was super cute in a sequin Ikat print dress that looked more suited to brunch than an awards show. Maybe the sequins were more striking in person. Jamie Lynn came with her new husband, Jamie Watson. Jamie Lynn is a country singer now in case you didn’t know. Blake Shelton mildly dissed her sister in his opening monologue, quipping “if you don?t like live music, then you need to go down the block and see Britney Spears.”
Finally we have Martina McBride in David Meister. I know Meister as the designer who does a lot of dresses for Melissa McCarthy. The top of this dress is really lovely, I like the cap sleeves as well as the floral print, but it looks too busy with the print going all the way down the long skirt. It needs to have a slit or be shorter or something.

Taking advantage of a rare day off, Selena Gomez showed up at the Nine Zero One hair salon in West Hollywood on Sunday afternoon (April 6).
The ?Wizards of Waverly Place? hottie emerged from the beauty shop four hours later with a sassy, curly hairdo and scurried off to her car after hugging a gal pal.
On Saturday, Selena paid a visit to Disneyland in Anaheim, California with a few friends and they ended up staying in the theme park until it closed at midnight.
Gomez also partied with Kendall and Kylie Jenner for Sean ?Diddy? Combs? son?s 16th birthday on Friday evening (April 4). What a busy girl!

Ever since Kelly Brook got engaged to her gladiator famewhore David McIntosh, they?ve been getting pap?d on a daily basis (sometimes multiple times in one day) in LA. Last week she started flashing her engagement ring for the paps too, and the whole thing is so sad and thirsty, I thought I?d help a sister out by writing about her instead of just ignoring her like I did all last week. Here’s what I really don?t understand: if she wanted us to see her ring that badly, why didn?t she just post a ring selfie on her Instagram? Lots of celebrity (and non-celebrity) women do that and it?s a lot less effort than the nonsense happening in these photos. Even worse? UK gossips claim Kelly likely paid for her sad engagement ring herself:
Kelly Brook “probably shelled out” for her own engagement ring. The busty brunette’s beau David McIntosh popped the question last month and she announced the news by posting a snap of her and the former ‘Gladiators’ star holding a balloon with the words ‘Engaged’ emblazoned across the front from her Instagram account.
However, sources allege David is “hardly” romantic and believe Kelly may have paid for the ring since she’s got more money than him. A source told The Sun newspaper: “David proposed without a ring and friends think Kelly probably shelled out for her own. He’s hardly the most romantic man in the world and she’s got far more cash than him.”
However other sources say Kelly dismissed these claims as rubbish – but perhaps the pair went Dutch? Kelly and David – a former royal marine – have had an on/off relationship since they met on New Year’s Eve three months ago and it is believed they “rushed into the engagement”. Although David spent a large amount of time at Kelly’s north London home in the early stages of their romance, the pair reportedly split up shortly after Valentine’s Day.
The source added: “They rushed into the engagement and then realised they needed a ring to prove it’s for real when they got photographed together. Her friends are privately saying they don’t think the romance will last.”

Kelly?s friends are also rushing to the UK tabloids to tell all about how David is a douchebag and how Kelly is so desperate to get married and have babies, she can?t even see how horrible this dude is. I guess that?s possible, but how could THIS dude put any woman in a dong haze? He looks so roidy and gross. Isn?t it far more likely that Kelly just wanted some attention? I doubt this engagement will make it to June.

Miley Cyrus covers the May issue of Elle. That’s a warning. She’s wearing Marc Jacobs to kick off the “women in music” issue. I look forward to dissecting the crazy things Miley says when the interview arrives.
Miley is surely still reeling from the loss of her beloved dog, Floyd, who passed away last week from unknown causes. Miley is a huge dog person (she lost a different dog in 2012), but Floyd was her favorite. Miley chose to dedicate a portion of her Brooklyn concert to Floyd on Saturday night. She serenaded a huge Floyd replica while sobbing onstage. You can see photos of that act here. Miley told her audience, “That was the hardest song of the night to do. As y’all know, because I lost my Floydie this week…Sometimes I just can’t stop from breaking down crying.” The Floyd replica had slightly creepy glowing eyes, but I can’t hate on the act. We all grieve differently.
Miley also revealed on Saturday that her mom, Tish, surprised her with a new dog named Moonie. Miley tweeted, “my mama knew my heart was broken & this morning I woke up to Moonie kisses. So torn. I love having little Moonie cuddle w me and Mary Jane but just don’t know if I’m ready to love again.” Here’s a picture of Moonie:
Mary Jane is another one of Miley’s pups, and now she has Moonie to “replace” Floyd. Miley loves dogs and would never turn one down, but this seems a little bit … soon? I shouldn’t judge, really. I vowed to wait a full year after my Lab died before getting another dog but only made it a little over two months. The itch started, and then my daughter and I went “just to look” at shelter dogs. You can guess how that worked out, right?
I think Tish overstepped here. Waiting only two days before getting a new dog seems a little extreme, but that’s not Miley’s fault. Tish should have let Miley decide to get another dog in her own time. Nothing can rush the healing process. You can choose to open your heart to another pet, but nothing will “replace” the old one. Ever.

Cameron Diaz is on a publicity warpath (and she knows how to go on a bender) to promote The Other Woman. She stopped by “Wetten Dass” in Berlin while wearing an Elie Saab wrap dress with a pretty floral pattern. Cami looked good, but this story is about her Friday visit to the “Graham Norton Show” in London. That show is always fun because all the celebrities talk together as an ensemble.
Russell Brand, Kylie Minogue, and Richard Ayoade were all on hand. All three of them got an earful of Cami’s opinions on cheating and down-there hair. Cameron previously wrote in The Body Book that she sports a “fully dressed” vadge and encouraged others to do the same: “Twenty years from now, you will still want to be presenting it to someone special, and it would be nice to let him or her unwrap it like the gift that it is.” Graham asked her to clarify, and she obliged. Cameron also further elaborated on her sweeping statements about cheating. Cam still believes that everyone either has or will be cheated on by a partner:
Will she stand by the cheating comments? “Yeah … uh, YEAH. I’m not saying that cheaters are like the cheater in this movie. I’m not saying that it’s like a pathological situation. I’m just saying that there’s a moment in everybody’s time where they find that somebody has betrayed them at some level. Betrayal. Is that more comfortable for people? I see people when they say that. All of a sudden they get really nervous. They go through all of their boyfriends and girlfriends, and they’re like ‘OMG, did I?’ All of a sudden they’re questioning. It becomes like this complete existential, like, conundrum. They’re like, ‘Did I? Did I? Did I?’ I’m like, ‘Just relax. It’s okay if you did.’ Everybody gets cheated on.”
On down-there hair: “I would like to clear up what I said. I don’t care what women do with it, but we should be informed about how their bodies work. And I brought up the conversation about how young women, as a sort of trend, are lasering off all of it at once. Forevermore. There’s actually a part in the conversation when Cameron bends over and starts talking to her crotch, “Why are you there?” She’s so candid and uncensored. I think poor Kylie and Richard were scarred by the conversation. Russell had a grand time and enjoyed the vadge talking. Cameron is correct about the hair being there for a reason, right? I can’t think about it as much as she has.
I do respect Cameron for not backing down on her statements, but the cheating thing? Not 100% of people cheat on their partners. Tons of people do, and the internet makes it so easy to make a “connection” behind an unsuspecting love interest’s back. Maybe most people have been cheated on, but not every single person in the world. I think Cami just dated a lot of dudes who have plenty of options and no self-control.

I?ve missed The Duchess of Buttons!! For a while there, Duchess Kate was so buttony, and then everyone was like, ?What?s with all the buttons?? and so she stopped for a time. But now the buttons are back!! YAY. These are photos of Duchess Kate, Prince William and Prince George arriving in New Zealand today. For the arrival, Kate wore a super-buttony Catherine Walker coat in a beautiful shade of red. The hat is Gina Foster and I kind of hate that (it?s too big?). If you can see your way past all of the magnificent buttons, you might notice that Kate is wearing a diamond and platinum brooch in the shape of a fern ? that was loaned to her by the Queen.
Nice stuff: as I said, I love the shade of red. I love Kate in red and she should wear vibrant colors more often. The coat has a beautiful cut and I?m even okay with the buttons. I really did miss them. I like that she wore something new for her arrival and didn?t try to do a repeat (?because she?s so thrifty?). Not so nice stuff: her skirt blew up literally as soon as she walked off the plane. How many ?Marilyn moments? is Kate going to have?
As for Prince George? he?s so wonderfully grumpy. He?s a cutie and I think he?s probably displeased with the outfit his mom picked out for him. There was a controversy over the weekend about the baby car seat that the embassy (??) ordered for George in New Zealand?? You can read about the controversy here. Basically, someone released a promotional image of the car seat that George was going to be using and it was facing the wrong way so now people are mad. Or something. George will also be meeting some commoner babies in New Zealand ? on Wednesday, George will attend an event organized by The Royal New Zealand Plunket Society and he will interact with some peasant babies who are close in age.
Did you know this Kate?s first time in Australia and New Zealand ever? She?s never ever been.

Here are some photos from Saturday night?s amfAR Inspiration gala in Sao Paulo, Brazil. There were several big-name models at the event, starting with a surprisingly modestly-dressed Kate Moss. Kate wore this hot-pink/red Saint Laurent gown which reminds me of the sort of boho sack dresses that the Olsen Twins used to wear. Still, I kind of like it. Even though I don?t like everything that Kate wears, I usually love how she puts a whole look together and I think she looks great here.
Kate recently spoke about how her daughter Lila reacts to her mom?s style. Kate said: ?She’s my biggest critic? she says ‘Oh Mummy, you look nice,’ I know I’m all right because she will definitely tell me if she doesn’t like it. She doesn’t like anything too sexy. ‘Mummy, do another button up,’ she said to me the other day.” I feel like Lila might have picked out this dress.
Here?s Sharon Stone in Roberto Cavalli ? sort of a boring black dress, but she looks good. Everything looks very classic.
Mary J. Blige in Carlos Miele. She looks good!
Candice Swanepoel in Valentino. This might be my favorite look from the event. The gown is fancy and beautiful, but the acid citrus color feels very Brazilian.
Naomi Campbell in Givenchy. Lord, I hate what Riccardo Tisci has done to Givenchy. Look at all of the crap stuck to this dress! Anyway, there?s a big Naomi Campbell story going around, but we?ll talk about it in a different post. Stay tuned!

Ever since Kelly Brook got engaged to her gladiator famewhore David McIntosh, they?ve been getting pap?d on a daily basis (sometimes multiple times in one day) in LA. Last week she started flashing her engagement ring for the paps too, and the whole thing is so sad and thirsty, I thought I?d help a sister out by writing about her instead of just ignoring her like I did all last week. Here what I really don?t understand: if she wanted us to see her ring that badly, why didn?t she just post a ring selfie on her Instagram? Lots of celebrity (and non-celebrity) women do that and it?s a lot less effort than the nonsense happening in these photos. Even worse? UK gossips claim Kelly likely paid for her sad engagement ring herself:
Kelly Brook “probably shelled out” for her own engagement ring. The busty brunette’s beau David McIntosh popped the question last month and she announced the news by posting a snap of her and the former ‘Gladiators’ star holding a balloon with the words ‘Engaged’ emblazoned across the front from her Instagram account.
However, sources allege David is “hardly” romantic and believe Kelly may have paid for the ring since she’s got more money than him. A source told The Sun newspaper: “David proposed without a ring and friends think Kelly probably shelled out for her own. He’s hardly the most romantic man in the world and she’s got far more cash than him.”
However other sources say Kelly dismissed these claims as rubbish – but perhaps the pair went Dutch? Kelly and David – a former royal marine – have had an on/off relationship since they met on New Year’s Eve three months ago and it is believed they “rushed into the engagement”. Although David spent a large amount of time at Kelly’s north London home in the early stages of their romance, the pair reportedly split up shortly after Valentine’s Day.
The source added: “They rushed into the engagement and then realised they needed a ring to prove it’s for real when they got photographed together. Her friends are privately saying they don’t think the romance will last.”

Kelly?s friends are also rushing to the UK tabloids to tell all about how David a douchebag and how Kelly is so desperate to get married and have babies, she can?t even see how horrible this dude is. I guess that?s possible, but how could THIS dude put any woman in a dong haze? He looks so roidy and gross. Isn?t it far more likely that Kelly just wanted some attention? I doubt this engagement will make it to June.

As Bedhead discussed last week, David Letterman announced his retirement last Thursday. Letterman is kind of leaving things open-ended, to the point where I really think he?s going to work with CBS to figure out who will replace him. Dave won?t be leaving until 2015, and he and CBS will probably spend a lot of time figuring this out, you know? The names being thrown around in the immediate wake of the retirement announcement probably won?t be the shortlist six months from now, is what I?m saying. Still, let?s talk about the names that have popped up right away.
Last Friday, Sarah at LaineyGossip made her case for why it will probably be Jimmy Kimmel, and I think Kimmel is probably one of the early ?big contenders? that they?ll be speaking to. Here?s one that I hope gets pushed aside really quickly: Chelsea Handler. I?m suspicious of the fact that Chelsea announced her retirement from E! just days before Letterman, and The Wrap says there?s good reason for my suspicion:
Chelsea Handler is in talks with CBS for a late-night talk show, an individual close to the producer and E! talk show host told TheWrap. CBS contacted Handler to discuss the potential of hosting a syndicated show in the wake of her announcing this week that she’s leaving E! when her contract expires at the end of the year. But Handler has told CBS that she isn’t interested in that option. As a result, CBS then expressed interest in considering Handler for Craig Ferguson’s 12:30 a.m. slot.
She will be meeting with CBS Corp.’s chairman and CEO Les Moonves in the next few weeks to continue the discussions of joining CBS’s late-night lineup, the individual said. But, Letterman’s retirement announcement on Thursday has changed the landscape for her. Handler now has her eye on Letterman’s ?Late Show? spot instead. Either timeslot would make her the first woman to host a late-night broadcast show since Cynthia Garrett hosted NBC’s ?Later? from 2000-2001. CBS declined comment to TheWrap.
Of course, she’ll have to prove to CBS that she can break out of her niche audience and appeal to a more general audience for CBS to consider her for the spot. A role with CBS is just one of the projects that Handler has been considering. Ideally, she wanted a weekly radio show on Sirius XM with a taped version of the show on Netflix, the latter of which she’s already in talks with, according to the individual. (Netflix told TheWrap that Handler had not been in talks with the company about a show.)
The insider said that she has also been approached by Jeff Zucker for CNN or HLN and by FX. But, again, the Letterman spot has changed things for her. It is now No. 1 on her list. The CBS-Handler talks would also suggest that the network was at the very least entertaining a replacement for Craig Ferguson at 12:30 a.m. The ?Late, Late Show? host reportedly has right of first refusal for Letterman’s spot, although CBS may not want to give it to him.

My take: it would be sacrilegious to have Chelsea Handler take the reins at The Late Show, and it?s making my skin crawl just thinking about Handler being mentioned in the same breath as David Letterman. She is not network TV material. Full-stop. I would argue that she?s not even cable material, but whatever.
There are also lots of people saying it should be Jon Stewart or Stephen Colbert, who basically run little fiefdoms over on Comedy Central. Whenever Stewart or Colbert negotiate their contracts, Viacom basically throws money at them and gives them whatever they want. Both Colbert and Stewart are extremely popular in the key demos that CBS would want for late-night shows and I could see Letterman pushing either man as his replacement. Mashable has a lengthy article (you can read it here) about why it?s totally going to be Colbert. The basics? Jon Stewart probably isn?t interested in going network because he?s working on lots of side-projects (like directing his feature debut, Rosewater) and doesn?t want to be tied down with a network contract. As for Colbert, sources say that he would have to drop ?the character? he plays on The Colbert Report and he would have to do less politics and do more celebrity interviews, and it?s not clear he would want to do that.
Other names in the mix: Neil Patrick Harris (a CBS/Viacom company man, they love him over there), Tina Fey (she?s more of an NBC woman, but she could travel) and Aisha Tyler (she?s on CBS?s The Talk, so she?s in-house). I think it would a SIN to approach Chelsea Handler like she?s the only woman who could possibly do the show ? if Chelsea?s in the mix, then BY GOD Tina and Aisha need to take meetings too. But I think it will probably be a dude, and that dude will be Colbert, Stewart, Kimmel or? yeah, Neil Patrick Harris. I think grooming NPH for that job would actually be inspired. He’s likable, he has broad appeal, he loves to dress up, he loves to sing and dance… it could work.
