?A friend of mine when I was younger was nicknamed Bear, and I just had always really loved it,? says the Divergent star. ?He was very much a bear. He was everyone?s shoulder to cry on, he was a big bear hug, he was just this great figure in my life, and I just always remembered him.?
As for Blaze? It’s after the fire she escaped. The same weekend she met her husband of an equally confounding name, Ned Rocknroll.
?The house burned down and we survived,? she says. ?But we wanted something of the fire, and so Blaze was the name that we came up with.?
Why did she give him the last name of Winslet and not Rocknroll though?
?Why do you think, Ellen??
I don’t know. Because you’re not AWESOME?! You’re already 2/3 of the way there in the questionable naming department. Why not go the full 100%? Kate Winslet seems a bit lacking in commitment.

Kicking off the week with some retail therapy, Emma Roberts teamed up with a gal pal and combed the racks at the West Hollywood J. Crew store on Monday afternoon (March 17).

Here are some photos from last night?s Paris premiere of Captain America: The Winter Soldier. Most of the photos are of Scarlett Johansson, because I guess Chris Evans isn?t that big in France. But the French love ScarJo, because she?s knocked up with a half-French beh-beh. Scarlett wore this Michael Kors suit which is? surprisingly flattering. Right? This is the slimmest she?s looked in a long time. It?s like she?s just carrying the baby in her boobs and the rest of her body is perfectly slender. That being said, I?m not wild about the suit. It just feels? I don?t know, early 90s. Like, vintage Versace. Also: Bedhead pointed out that ?Sodastream? seems to be one of the sponsors of this Parisian premiere. Interesting.
Meanwhile, Scarlett still seems to be promoting her funky Under the Skin movie simultaneously with The Winter Soldier. The Guardian interview (which we discussed yesterday) was done mostly in support of her bizarre alien drama, and now there?s a new high-brow interview too ? ScarJo sat down with The New Yorker. You can read the full piece here (it?s really long and overwritten), and here are the two parts about Woody Allen and SodaStream:
The Woody Allen section: ?Shooting that movie [Vicky Christina Barcelona] was such a huge event in Barcelona at that time that you would get to the set, and there would be literally two thousand people standing behind the camera,? Johansson recalls. ?So it was mostly just a mental exercise in finding peace of mind, and the stillness.? And how was the filmmaker, when all this was going on? ?Woody was ?They love you! Turn and wave!,? and I was, like, I hate you so much right now.? She is a loyal fan; they also made ?Match Point? and ?Scoop? together. Would she work with him again, in the wake of recent events? ?I don?t see why anyone wouldn?t,? she replies.
The SodaStream section: Step back a little, and the whole [SodaStream] farrago acquires a comic flavor, and Johansson sounds plausibly dumbfounded by her time at the heart of the storm: ?I think I was put into a position that was way larger than anything I could possibly?I mean, this is an issue that is much bigger than something I could just be dropped into the middle of.? The only folk who relished the affair, I guess, were the board of Mot & Chandon, who could have told her, holding their noses, to stay away from inferior fizz.

Wow, ScarJo really doesn?t care about anything having to do with Dylan Farrow, right? ?I don?t see why anyone wouldn?t? work with Woody? O RLY? That?s pretty bold ? it?s like she?s throwing down the pro-Woody gauntlet, not even caring about paying lip service to the sensitivity of the issue. I?m debating whether or not Scarlett seems stupidly short-sighted or whether she just seems like she has brass balls.

Gwyneth Paltrow will appear on tonight?s hour-long episode of Glee. It?s the 100th episode of the show, so apparently there will be some big show-stopping numbers, big-name guest stars and such. To preview the episode, Glee producers released the audio of Gwyneth covering Pharrell Williams? Oscar-nominated song ?Happy?. Previously, Gwyneth has covered Adele?s ?Turning Tables,? which was sacrilegious to me just because that song is really beautiful and Gwyneth?s voice is nowhere near as strong as Adele?s. Anyway, here?s Gwyneth?s Glee version of ?Happy?:
I think? this is not good. Gwyneth?s voice isn?t strong enough for this song either and it sounds very filtered and like they used a lot of studio magic to make her sound less screechy and nasal. And here?s what I never understand about Glee: why do they cover so many songs with the same basic musical arrangement as the original songs?
Gwyneth also submitted her ?Spring Playlist? to Jay-Z?s Life + Times site. You can see her Spring Mix here. She lists: The National, Beyonce, Haim, Haerts and more.
Oh, and Gwyneth and Chris have reportedly bought a $14 million beach house in Malibu too. You can see photos here ? it?s really beautiful. The tennis court seems a bit unnecessary (Malibu space is at a premium).

Katy Perry’s been doing some rounds for her upcoming Prismatic tour. Katy was in Australia a few weeks ago to bash Miley Cyrus’ tongue and sell some tickets. She’s returned down under for some more appearances. Say what you want about Katy, she is great at selling out arenas. Kids love her Rainbow Brite shtick, and parents are willing to overlook the whipped cream boobs.
I do worry that Katy’s dumb-as-a-rock routine is detrimental to young girls. Sure, she writes power anthems like “Roar,” but Katy can’t express herself beyond her ripped-off lyrics. Maybe she really is an airhead. She revealed her updated views on feminism to the iWakeUpWithToday show. In 2012, Katy told told Billboard, “I am not a feminist, but I do believe in the strength of women.” She hasn’t educated herself any further by the sound of these quotes:
She doesn’t like the show’s stage lights: “Whoa, this is really bright! I hope it makes me look 21, I guess. I don’t want to look like a fetus. Fetus pop star!”
On her lasting power: “Sweetheart, if I was just a lot of fruff and bubble, I would have been gone in a second.”
Is she a feminist? “A feminist? Uh, yes, actually. I used to not really understand what that word meant, and now that I do, it just means that I love myself as a female and I also love men. I am a strong woman. And hear me roar!”

Ha. I don't like to say that anyone is better off nodding prettily and smiling, but I feel that way when it comes to Katy's thoughts on feminism. She's not alone by any stretch. A whole drove of young starlets -- including Miley Cyrus, Courtney Stodden, Selena Gomez, and Lily Allen -- don't know the true meaning of feminism. Sigh.

She?s in the States to accept her star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame and Kate Winslet found time to pay a visit to "The Ellen DeGeneres Show? for an interview to air today (March 18).
The ?Titanic? actress was in good spirits as she discussed the unusual moniker she and husband Ned Rocknroll chose for their son Bear.
Kate noted, "A friend of mine when I was younger was nicknamed Bear and I just had always really loved it. And he was very much a bear. He was everyone?s shoulder to cry on he was a big bear hug, he was a great figure in my life and I just had always remembered him and so that?s where it came from.?
"When I was pregnant with Mia and when I was pregnant with Joe, I didn't name them before they came out because I always felt like I just have to see them and see who they're going to be. But of course, this time around there's Mia and Joe and the whole pregnancy is about what are we going to call the baby. So it was really lovely actually, they were very much included and we settled on Bear quite early on.?
Winslet added, ?And then Bear?s second name is Blaze because my husband and I met in a house fire basically," referring to the fire on Necker Island in 2011 when they were both vacationing at Sir Richard Branson?s private estate.

To do some early promotion on Maleficent, Angelina Jolie gave a lengthy interview to Entertainment Weekly a few weeks ago, but she also gave a short little interview to USA Today specifically to promote the new teaser in which we get to see Maleficent?s magnificent wings. To film the stuff where Angelina is flying around, Angelina was obviously rigged up on wires (controversial theory: maybe she can fly in real life?!). To do all of the wire work, Angelina had to get stronger. Which is why we get this wonderful confession:
?Angelina Jolie reveals what it was like to fly with her wings in in the classic tale’s reboot ? and the workout she begrudgingly agreed to. Hooked up on rigs in full costume (yes, even those horns) on set at Pinewood Studios, “you’re almost like a puppet with all these people moving (beneath you),” says Jolie. “When you go to the left or the right all of you have to move together. It’s a big dance with a lot of people.”
How did she pull it off? Well, through a regimen Jolie admits she eschews. Jolie’s longtime stunt coordinator Eunice Huthart (a close friend, who is also godmother to Shiloh Jolie-Pitt) slowed down and intensified her workouts. “She made me do yoga. And I have no patience for yoga,” says Jolie. “It’s not something I do easily, because I’m not a still person. But I was forced to do yoga because (to fly) you have to have your core strength to be able to hold yourself.”

I feel like Angelina is aware enough to know that Jennifer Aniston is all about yoga and that Aniston talks about her love of yoga in pretty much every interview. Do you think that entered into Angelina?s thought process at all here? ?I have no patience for yoga.? I can see that. I bet Angelina would prefer to box, lift weights and maybe do some martial arts. That seems more her style.

And if and when that happens, the Bey-centered universe will still exist. The Bey-hive will not be destroyed. It will be fine.

Cameron Diaz is finally promoting something besides The Body Book! Don’t get me wrong, I enjoyed all the discussions of down-there grooming and chauvinism towards single women. Cami hammered that book into the ground. She usually has interesting things to say, but I couldn’t wait for her to move onto a new project and say stuff about something new.
Cami starting to promote The Other Woman now. That’s the movie where Cameron’s character finds out she’s dating a guy who is married to another woman (Leslie Mann). Together, they realize he’s also banging a hottie (Kate Upton). All three of the women team up to teach the man a lesson. The trailer looks surprisingly good, and I’m so glad the women aren’t fighting amongst themselves over some cheating douche. Cameron sat down for an interview with OK! magazine (via the Independent) to talk about her feelings on infidelity:
Cameron Diaz thinks “everyone” has been cheated on.
The actress stars alongside Kate Upton in The Other Woman, about a woman who teams up with her lover’s wife to seek revenge after finding out he’s married.
She’s dated high-profile stars such as Justin Timberlake and Jared Leto in the past, but the 41-year-old is currently single.
Cameron believes that everyone has had to endure some form of infidelity in their lives and insists she didn’t shoot the film to “make a statement”.
“My statement is that I am actually not interested in making movies about men cheating on women; it’s not at all what I am interested in,” she explained to the British edition of OK! magazine.
“Everybody has been cheated on, everyone will be cheated on. I can’t fix that, I don’t know how, I don’t have any judgement on anybody, I don’t know how to fix the problem.
“We are human beings, we are complicated – you cannot go through life without tallying up a few scars, you cannot go through life unscathed, it’s just what it is. It’s all meant to happen, take your lessons, figure it out, move on.”
The Other Woman isn’t just about cheating; it’s also about women sticking together when they’ve been betrayed.
Cameron is pleased she has a good group of female friends to turn to during tough times.
“I exist for all my girlfriends. I am very, very, very fortunate; my friends are incredible and I am very lucky to have a lot of really solid, good friends – girlfriends and male friends – who I can just rely on,” she smiled.
“We are tribal, we need our tribe – I have a bunch of little tribes all over the world that I pop to for a little bit of time, and then I move on and that’s the great thing about being mobile; a lot of my friends have kids and they are stuck, planted in one place, and I kind of get to pop into all the different little tribes around the world and hang out for a little bit.”

The gossip junkie in me wants to know which of Cameron’s boyfriends may have cheated on her, but it was probably several of them. Probably Justin Timberlake, Alex Rodriguez, and definitely Jared Leto (with a stripper). I’m not throwing any shade on Cami at all. Maybe she’s exaggerating by saying we’ve all been cheated on, but it’s so incredibly common. I’ve been cheated on twice … at least. If there were more incidents, I don’t need to know about it. All in the past!
Cam’s still promoting The Body Book a little bit. She talk to Oprah on Sunday about how “excited” she was on her 40th birthday. She decided, ‘Now life begins. This is the coolest thing ever.’” What an awesome attitude.

I believe the Hollywood Walk of Fame stars are bought by the studios at this point and the ?star ceremony? timed for film promotion. Winslet did about a week of work on Divergent, so that?s what she?s promoting, just FYI. Shailene Woodley was at the Walk of Fame ceremony, as was Kathy Bates.
Kate looks good, doesn?t she? But I always like her more when she looks ?softer? ? I think she stopped doing the Botox during her pregnancy last year and I hope she never goes back. She looks so much younger now post-pregnancy. Her youngest, son Bear Blaze, is 14 weeks old. Winslet appeared on The Ellen Show yesterday to talk Divergent, the Walk of Fame and Kate?s new husband and baby:
Kate confirms that yes, she named her baby BEAR BLAZE WINSLET. And I love how Ellen really presses her on marrying a man who changed his name to Ned RockNRoll. I can feel Ellen?s judgment from here, and I?m right there with Ellen. I feel like Winslet is a little bit embarrassed too ? Kate explains that Ned changed his name before they had even met and Ellen asks if Kate would have approved of the name change if she had gotten a say in it. When Kate is talking about the baby?s name, Kate confirms that Bear?s surname is Winslet not RockNRoll and Ellen is basically like, ?Well, that answers that.?

Anyway, one of the few ?promotional? things Crowe has done thus far is try to get some kind of Vatican screening for Noah. He?s been tweeting the Vatican (seriously!) and the studio has been trying to get Mr. Good Guy Pope Francis to say something, anything about the film. But it?s a no go.
Pope Francis has nixed a meeting with the creative team behind ?Noah,? including star Russell Crowe, director Darren Aronofsky and Paramount vice chair Rob Moore, which studio executives had been scrambling to schedule as a photo-op, Variety has learned.
The meeting was never fully confirmed, but tentatively on the calendar for Wednesday at 8:30 a.m. in the VIP section so the Pope could figuratively lend a blessing to the $125 million Biblical epic. The reason the Vatican cancelled it, according to a source, is over concerns word would leak, causing a spectacle as Crowe and Aronofsky landed in Rome.
When reached by Variety last week, Aronofsky said the meeting had been proposed, but it wouldn?t happen if anybody reported or Tweeted about it.
?Noah,? scheduled for U.S. release on March 28, has been criticized by some religious groups for taking too many liberties with the story of Noah?s Ark.
Even though the Pope doesn?t normally screen movies, he recently met with Philomena Lee, the subject of the Weinstein Co?s ?Philomena? at the height of Oscars season in February.

My guess is that the Pope heard some of the bad reviews as well. And the film has already been banned in several countries, including Qatar, Bahrain, and the UAE. Paramount is bracing for more bans across the Middle East. There?s also an outcry from American evangelicals too, because there are some derivations from the Biblical story. So, boycotts all over the place. Which might work to give the film some added ?danger? and some cool cach? if only the film was high art or something. But it?s not. It?s just a bloated Biblical mess. Stay away, Pope Francis!

Getting closer in one of the most romantic cities in the world, Heidi Klum and Vito Schnabel checked out an Alex Katz exhibit in Paris, France on Monday (March 17).
The "Project Runway" host looked gorgeous in a black wool coat, black leather pants, and sneakers as she smiled with her new man while they headed off for some shopping.

Taking her latest flick to the City of Lights, Scarlett Johansson attended the "Captain America: The Winter Soldier" premiere at Le Grand Rex on Monday (March 17).
The engaged actress looked hot in a black top, red jacket, and slim red pants as she walked the red carpet in heels and kept her budding baby bump under wraps.
As previously reported by GossipCenter, the "Her" star recently opened up about the allegations regarding director Woody Allen by his adopted daughter Dylan Farrow.
Noting that Dylan's mentioning of her name in the New York Times article was "irresponsible," Scarlett shares, "I don't know anything about it. It would be ridiculous for me to make any kind of assumption one way or the other. I'm unaware that there's been a backlash. I think he'll continue to know what he knows about the situation, and I'm sure the other people involved have their own experience with it. It's not like this is somebody that's been prosecuted and found guilty of something, and you can then go, 'I don't support this lifestyle or whatever.' I mean, it's all guesswork."

Kicking off her week with a flight, Emmy Rossum arrived at LAX International Airport in Los Angeles on Sunday (March 16).
The 27-year-old actress kept it casual in a red sweater, black pants and boots with a Knicks hat as she made her way through the busy terminal.
Later in the evening, Emmy informed her fans on Twitter that she managed to "contract" frostbite while shooting a few scenes for her hit series "Shameless" in January.
While shooting her latest episode, Miss Rossum tweeted, "I got frostbite on my feet shooting this shoe-less scene. And I can tell you firsthand, it's not a good look."
She then jokingly added, "Gives new meaning to 'cold feet.'"
